How Man Utd could line up vs Everton in FA Cup with Garnacho replacing injured Van de Beek and Martinez ready to return

MANCHESTER UNITED head into FA Cup action against Everton in winning form. Erik Ten Hag’s side have won their last four in the Premier League, most recently beating Bournemouth 3-0.

They welcomed back Diogo Dalot and Lisandro Martinez for the first time since the World Cup, with both in line to start.
Raphael Varane could also use the game to return, following a runners-up finish in Qatar with France.
Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof did help United keep a clean sheet against Bournemouth on Tuesday and are still available.
So too is Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who has re-found his form in at right-back in the absence of Dalot.

And it remains to be seen who will start against Everton, as is the case on the left with Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia both fit.
In midfield, Donny van de Beek is sidelined having suffered an injury against Bournemouth which forced him off at half-time.
Fred and Scott McTominay could anchor the United midfield allowing Bruno Fernandes to play as a No10.
But Casemiro is also available should Ten Hag opt for a three in the centre of the park.

Going forward, Anthony Martial hobbled off against Everton but is still fit to play if needed.
Ten Hag confirmed: “He’s available but it’s different.
“He came off but he didn’t play that much in the first half of the season so we have to bring him slowly back into 90 minutes.
“He can play 90 minutes but in a row of games we have to protect him so he can have the strength, the power to deliver over 90 minutes, every third day.”
It may see the Frenchman rested, with Marcus Rashford filling in up front.
Starlet Alejandro Garnacho is hoping for more cup minutes having shined against Aston Villa in the League Cup in November.
Anthony Elanga could also be given some game time out wide in the absence of Brazilian Antony, who has been out with injury. More

Erik ten Hag has moved for a new backup for David De Gea and Tom Heaton after Martin Dubravka was recalled by Newcastle early.
Crystal Palace goalie Butland, 29, will be the Dutchman’s first winter signing.
Butland has been capped nine times by England and was in the Three Lions’ squad for the 2018 World Cup.
He underwent a medical at Carrington on Thursday ahead of joining the Red Devils on loan until the end of the season, according to The Athletic.

Ten Hag stressed the need to have “three experienced goalkeepers” in his squad.
The Dutchman said: “We have some young ones and they do well but we have so many games so you need three good goalies in training but also when problems are coming you need experience in goal to get what you are aiming for.
“I’m really happy with David, it’s quite clear, he’s our No1, he’s a really good performer but there’s always something that can happen with David as well and you have to be prepared for that.
“Last year I had a situation with Ajax where we had three goalies injured and you don’t want a position that you play for trophies and you have to put in a young keeper.

“It can kill your season. That’s what you have to be prepared for.”
Butland played a key role in Palace’s run to the FA Cup semi-finals last season.
But he has made only 10 Premier League appearances since joining the club in October 2020.
The stopper has not been a Premier League regular since he was relegated with Stoke in 2018.
He has been on the bench twice for Palace this season, missing the majority of the campaign with an injury he picked up against the Red Devils in pre-season. More

Midfielder Donny van de Beek joined in 2020, boss Erik ten Hag arrived at Old Trafford last summer, and Lisandro Martinez and Antony followed suit before the transfer window slammed shut.
And according to the Daily Star, Ten Hag wants to bring another one of his former Ajax stars to Manchester this January.
Man Utd are in need of another forward following the dramatic departure of Cristiano Ronaldo last November.
The legendary five-time Ballon d’Or winner, 37, had his contract ripped up following a tell-all interview with SunSport columnist and TalkTV main man Piers Morgan.

In that exclusive chat, Ronaldo accused United of betrayal, while also revealing he did not respect manager Ten Hag.
Kudus has largely played as a centre-forward for Ajax this term, and has had great success in front of goal.
The 22-year-old has scored ten goals across all competitions, with one of those coming against Premier League giants Liverpool in the Champions League group stages.
He also had a successful World Cup in front of goal, scoring two in three games before Ghana were eliminated from Group H, which saw Ronaldo’s Portugal and Son Heung-min’s South Korea progress.

United will, however, have to pay big bucks for Kudus, just like they did in the summer for Martinez and Antony.
The Red Devils boosted Ajax’s bank balance by £140million for the pair.
And Kudus is rated at around £40m by the Amsterdam-based club.
He joined the Dutch outfit in 2020 for around £8m from Danish club Nordsjælland.
Kudus could potentially boost Man Utd’s hopes of a top-four finish.
United are currently occupying fourth spot with a two-point cushion and a game in hand over fifth-place Tottenham. More

Joao Felix mysteriously left out of Atletico Madrid squad against Real Oviedo amid Man Utd and Chelsea transfer links

JOAO FELIX was left out of Atletico Madrid’s victory over Real Oviedo fuelling the fire around a potential move away from the Spanish capital.Atletico overcame their opposition 2-0 in the Copa del Rey without the influence of the Portuguese playmaker who wasn’t in the squad at all.
Joao Felix has made 130 appearances for Atletico Madrid since signing for the side in 2019
The reason for his absence is a mystery with some reports suggesting he was injured and others saying that Atletico are trying to avoid him getting injured to ensure a move away for the star.
Felix has been linked to a number of Premier League clubs including Manchester United and Chelsea.
Despite being Atletico’s record signing the 23-year-old has fallen out of favour with manager Diego Simeone since making the £113million move from Benfica.
It is reported the club are willing to let him leave on loan, but that they expect an eye-watering £10.5m loan fee to convince them to part with his talents.
    READ MORE ON MAN UTD
Atletico CEO, Miguel Angel Gil Marin, conceded that the club are considering letting Felix leave because of his fractured relationship with the manager.
He said: “For reasons it isn’t worth getting into – the relationship between him and the boss [Simeone], the minutes played, his motivation right now.
“It makes you think if there’s a reasonable option that’s good for the player, good for the club, we can look at it. I’d love for Joao to continue, but this is the current situation.”
Man United are said to be in negotiation with the Spanish club, but are way off their valuation for Felix.

Arsenal ‘ready to launch huge bid for £88m-rated Declan Rice’ as they look to beat Chelsea and Man Utd to West Ham star

ARSENAL are ready to launch a shock bid for Declan Rice, according to reports. The Gunners sit eight points clear at the top of the Premier League as they chase their first league title in 19 years.

But Mikel Arteta is keen to strengthen his squad in January with Mykhailo Mudryk from Shakhtar Donetsk.
However, Spanish outlet Fichajes report the Emirates boss wants his board to sanction a big-money move for Rice in the summer.
West Ham captain Rice, 23, is rated at around £88million and his club have previously refused to let him leave despite plenty of interest.
But he has rejected a new contract and alerted potential suitors at the World Cup when he publicly expressed his desire to be at a club competing for trophies and in the Champions League.
    READ MORE ON ARSENAL
And Arsenal could offer that with Arteta spearheading the exciting revival in North London.
Manchester United and Chelsea are also long-term admirers of Rice.
But with both teams, especially the Blues, off the pace set by Arsenal in the Premier League, their top-four ambitions are far from guaranteed.
So that could help Arsenal win the race for the former Chelsea academy player’s signature, who is said to be keen to stay in the capital.

An extra holding midfielder is a key priority for Arsenal – with Albert Sambi Lokonga well short of the quality Thomas Partey boasts as the single pivot in the 4-3-3 formation.
Therefore the addition of Rice – one of the best defensive midfielders in the country – would be a major boost.
The 39-cap England star has made 218 West Ham appearances after graduating from the academy.
But he has struggled to find his best form for the Hammers this season with David Moyes’ side only out of the relegation zone by one goal.

Rice hit back at criticism that he had one eye on a transfer away by stating he would never “give up”.
The midfielder said: “Keep reading little comments like these that are, 1. Funny & 2. Complete nonsense.
“I would never ever give up, for the fans or for the club.
“Of course things on a football pitch get tough! But especially as captain and wearing this shirt, I know exactly what it means to play for West Ham.”
    Read More on The Sun
Moyes also defended his skipper and added last week: “People can have their opinions, but Declan played fantastically well in midweek and he has done for nearly all the time I’ve been here.
“He’s tried to drive us on and he did everything he could in midweek. I don’t see it.” More

Substitute Ansu Fati was able to score the winner for Barcelona in the 103rd minute, but there was little celebration in the victory against the club that shares its name with a train operator.
