Man Utd have ‘genuine interest’ in shock transfer swoop for ex-Chelsea star Tammy Abraham if they can’t get Osimhen

MANCHESTER UNITED have “genuine interest” in Tammy Abraham if they cannot land Victor Osimhen, reports claim. The Napoli striker is among Europe’s deadliest forwards and has long been tipped for an Old Trafford move in the summer.
Abraham has been repeatedly linked with moves back to the Premier League after thriving at RomaCredit: Rex
But he is not the only goalscoring talent in Serie A who has impressed.
Former Chelsea hitman Tammy Abraham has re-energised his career after moving to Roma.
While he is not enjoying his best season he remains an important piece of Jose Mourinho’s side.
Caught Offside report that Man United are keeping tabs on the striker as they look for long-term options up-front.

Journalist Ben Jacobs writes: “For Manchester United, the admiration for Abraham is very genuine.
“Ten Hag likes the player. But like Chelsea there are others ahead of him in the queue.
“We know Manchester United love Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, as in fact do Chelsea. Manchester United won’t bill Abraham as a ‘back-up’ to Osimhen, but it’s not a bad way of putting it.”
Previous reports have also claimed Abraham is on United’s radar, but the star has been linked to Arsenal.

Abraham, 25, has already proven capable of scoring in the Premier League with the Englishman netting 15 goals during Frank Lampard’s debut season.
After being turfed out during Thomas Tuchel’s reign, he also adapted quickly to life in Italy and struck 17 league goals during his first season at Roma, with the club winning the inaugural Europa Conference League.
He has only managed six in 22 Serie A game so far this season with Roma sat fourth and battling it out for a Champions League space.
Wout Weghorst was recruited as a stop-gap loan for United until the end of the season amid Anthony Martial’s injury issues and Cristiano Ronaldo’s sudden departure.
But he has so far struggled to shine even with United’s winning form in 2023. More

That led United to open talks with Sevilla in January over a potential transfer, report Fichajes.
And although the LaLiga side snubbed the approach, United could make a bid in the summer.
It is believed Sevilla want around £45million for Bono, whose contract expires in 2025.
United will reportedly try to negotiate that price down, and could be boosted in their bid if Sevilla fail to qualify for the Champions League, in which case they may have to sell a prized asset.

However they face competition for Bono’s signature with Tottenham and West Ham.
Spurs reportedly offered Sevilla £20m for the 31-year-old, who has also attracted attention from Bayern Munich.
United have been linked with several goalkeepers in recent months with David De Gea out of contract at the end of June.
He is currently the Reds’ top earner at around £375,000 a week and would have to take a drop of more than 25 per cent to get his wish.

Boss Erik ten Hag has assured the keeper he has his full backing and is not chasing a new No 1, despite links with Brentford’s David Raya.

Stefan Bajcetic has broken into the Liverpool first-team this season and immediately caught the eye.
Team-mate Mohamed Salah even dubbed Bajcetic as the “best player” at the club since the Spaniard has been part of the first-team.
While the Reds’ pursuit of Jude Bellingham is well known, Bajcetic’s emergence could save them from splashing the cash on multiple midfielders in the summer.
Bajetic signed for Liverpool in December 2020 aged 16 – with the club beating both Manchester United and Brexit to land his signature.

The Reds signed Bajcetic before new post Brexit rules came in and amid interest from United and Chelsea, as exclusively revealed by SunSport.
While the Red Devils and Chelsea decided against a move due to fears he wouldn’t be allowed into the country, Liverpool swooped.
Prem rules then came into place prohibiting visas for overseas players under the age of 18.
He was Liverpool’s last signing under the old rules, costing a bargain £224,000.

The teenager now has 13 first-team appearances – but does not look out of place in a squad full of stars.
He even scooped Jamie Carragher’s Player of the Match award in Monday’s 2-0 win over rivals Everton.
And Bajcetic has made quite the impression among his Anfield team-mates.
Egyptian ace Salah told Sky Sports: “He’s a great player and person, he always tries to work hard.
“Since he started playing for us, he has been our best player maybe so hopefully he keeps that confidence and keeps going.”

Man Utd women’s team ‘disturbed’ by Mason Greenwood videos as they don’t want star to return to training

MANCHESTER United Women’s team don’t want Mason Greenwood to return to their training ground, sources say.The striker had attempted rape charges against him dropped earlier this month but the club’s female stars have told how they are “disturbed” by him.
Mason Greenwood had rape charges against him dropped
Greenwood, 21, hasn’t played for Man United since his arrest in January 2022.
All charges against the footballer, including attempted rape, actual bodily harm and coercive or controlling behaviour, were withdrawn by the Crown Prosecution Service earlier this month.
It came after 12 witnesses, including the woman at the centre of the allegations, refused to cooperate.
He had been charged after videos emerged of a woman with bruises to her body and blood dripping from her mouth.
    MORE ON GREENWOOD
It’s thought he will remain suspended until the end of the 2022/23 Premier League season while the club carry out an internal probe.
But now female players have revealed they would be unhappy to see him return to the men’s and women’s shared training base, reports The Times.
And according The Athletic, “the feeling is strong” amongst the team that he should be let go.
Meanwhile female staff at the ground have also said they would object to his return.

Greenwood, who earns around £100,000 a week and is contracted until 2025, is still unable to play for United or train while the Red Devils carry out an internal probe.
This is said to involve interviews to get his version of events and checks on his physical and mental health.
Manager Erik Ten Hag hopes this process will be complete before the summer but it cannot be confirmed, it is understood.
Prior to his arrest, Greenwood was valued at around £50million and regarded as one of European football’s hottest young talents.
Fans are also said to be uncertain about his return.
Greenwood, who was dropped from a multi-million pound boot deal by Nike following his arrest, has made 129 appearances for United, scoring 35 goals and winning one England cap. More

Man Utd takeover breakthrough as Uefa ‘will NOT block Qatari investors’ bid’ despite owning PSG

MANCHESTER UNITED have had a breakthrough in ownership talks after it was reported Uefa will NOT block investors from Qatar buying the club. Despite interest from tiny Middle East nation, there were fears any ownership bid would be blocked due to Qatar Sports Investment already being owners of French champions Paris Saint-Germain.

This is despite Qatar Sports Investments already owning PSGCredit: AFP

This is due to Uefa having a rule which forbids a party from owning multiple clubs in the same competition.
With United and PSG often clashing in Europe, Uefa may have deemed any takeover bid illegal due to the two sides being in the same tournament.
However, according to the Daily Mail, any bid from Qatar will come from a separate entity to QSI
This satisfies Uefa chiefs enough for them to not block any prospective takeover of the club, which was put up for sale by the Glazer family last November.

Raine Group are overseeing the sale process for the Red Devils, and have set a February 17 deadline for any prospective buyers to place bids.
The Glazers are aiming to get up to £6billion for the club, but a more realistic range of just over £4bn has been estimated.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe was the first to announce his intention to buy Man Utd but he could be priced out of a deal despite recruiting Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan.
The owner of INEOS and French club Nice – whose French stadium was the venue for an amateur porn film – is said to be “determined” to strike a deal however.

The Mail’s report adds as well as the separation of two entities, the closeness of PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi to Uefa chief Aleksander Ceferin could also be a determining factor.
Ceferin was in attendance at the Parc des Princes as PSG suffered a 1-0 defeat against Bayern Munich. More

De Ligt was Ten Hag’s captain when the pair were at Ajax, despite the Dutch international being a teenager.
The pair enjoyed success together as they won the Eredivisie and went on a run to the Champions League semi-finals.
After this brilliant season in 2019, De Ligt was signed by Serie A giants Juventus for £66.3million.
After three seasons in Italy, De Ligt joined Bayern and recently revealed that Ten Hag recommended the club to him before his move to Juventus.

De Ligt told The Athletic: “It didn’t happen at the time. Bayern still has a special place in Ten Hag’s heart.
“He was really happy for me that I could move (in the summer), he congratulated me. I have also spoken to Arjen Robben about the club years ago.
“But this time, I didn’t need to ask anyone’s advice. I already knew that I wanted to go to Munich.”
Ten Hag has worked at Bayern before in his career, as the club’s manager of the second team.

Erik ten Hag cycles past heart-shaped balloons on Valentine’s Day after bringing back the love at Man Utd

LOVE is in the air around Old Trafford, and it is all thanks to Erik ten Hag. After a rocky start to the relationship, Ten Hag has got Manchester United’s groove back with the club sitting in the top four and still competing in four competitions.

And ahead of United’s next clash against Barcelona, the Dutchman was spotted enjoying a bike ride.
Donning a wool hat and coat to ward off the winter chill, Ten Hag was pictured cycling through Hale Village, with some appropriately themed heart-shape balloons making up the backdrop.
Indeed, United have felt the love since the World Cup, and sit top of the league for results since the bitter departure of Cristiano Ronaldo.
The United great had his contract ripped up after an interview with Piers Morgan in which he blasted the club’s owners – who have since put up the for sale sign – and said he did not respect Ten Hag.

The club’s most recent win was a 2-0 victory against Leeds on Sunday derived from a Ten Hag move fans hailed as “genius”.
Next up is a repeat of the 2009 and 2011 Champions League finals, albeit in far less romantic circumstances.
Thursday evening sees United visit European royalty at the Camp Nou in the Europa League round of 32 play-off.
Following a big summer of spending, backed against the club’s future revenue, Barcelona are flying high at the top of La Liga.

But United have been warned about a “surprising” feature of Barcelona which would have left them stumped like they were at Brentford at the start of the season.
Their new weapon is supposedly the Spanish giants’ level of running without the ball.
The last time the two sides met ended badly for United as they were on the end of a 4-0 thrashing in the quarter-finals of the Champions League in 2018/19.
In fact, the Red Devils have defeated the Blaugrana on just three of the 13 times they have played – the last occasion being the second leg of the 2007/08 UCL semi-finals when Paul Scholes scored a screamer.
Ten Hag will be desperate to tip the record more into United’s favour this week ahead of the return leg next Thursday.
That would guarantee a place in United fans’ hearts for a while at least. More
