Ian Wright says Man Utd signing Kane is a ‘no brainer’ as he urges club to offer £60m plus star for England captain

ARSENAL legend Ian Wright says Manchester United signing Tottenham star Harry Kane is a “no-brainer” and should offer a once highly-rated player as a sweetener.A centre forward is high on Man Utd’s summer wishlist following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo.

And reports suggest Ten Hag will go all out to land Tottenham and England sensation Kane.
The Three Lions skipper equalled Jimmy Greaves’ Spurs tally of 266 goals for the North London side with the winner at Fulham.
And despite suggestions Kane may make a U-turn and sign a new contract, United have been urged by Arsenal legend Wright to push forward and pursue a deal AND include a player as a sweetener.
Wright said on Wrighty’s House: “If Man Utd came now, [for] Harry Kane with a year left, let’s say they put £60m on the table and we’ll throw in someone, Martial, whatever… it’s a very good deal.

“If Man Utd have got any serious thinking about what we need to do next, it’s a No9.
“It seems like a no-brainer that Harry Kane is the person [they should sign]. He takes them somewhere else.”
Wright believes that despite the possibility of Kane leaving Tottenham trophyless, fans will wish the 29-year-old well.
Wright added: “Spurs fans will say ‘you know what, good luck Harry’.”

United have brought in Wout Weghorst to temporarily fill the gap left by Ronaldo.
However, the on-loan star has struggled to make an impact for the Red Devils.
Wright says the difference between Arsenal and Man Utd in Sunday’s 3-2 win for Mikel Arteta’s men was the strikers.
He said: “One of the main differences was Eddie Nketiah, a No9.
“That’s what Man Utd didn’t have, because they had [Wout] Weghorst up there but he wasn’t a threat if we’re going to be totally honest, he was not a threat.
“When you’re looking at Man Utd’s trajectory at the minute and where they’re moving, Harry Kane for three years,
“I think Man Utd would definitely be doing something because Man Utd are not a million miles away with what ten Hag’s doing.”

Value of clubs have also been boosted with the return of fans to stadiums following the Covid-19 pandemic.
During the pandemic, revenues dropped due to games having to be played behind closed doors.

Now the study has revealed the value of the Premier League clubs with the Red Devils coming out on top with a value of £4.8billion.
They beat rivals Liverpool to the top spot, with the Anfield side coming in at £3.8bn.

It is an important time for the clubs to learn their value as both of them have been put up for sale by their owners.
United’s owners, the Glazers, want to sell their shares in the club by March and have their own price tag of £7bn.
One interested party is Sir Jim Ratcliffe, a United fan.
Liverpool’s owners, FSG, have recently decided to only sell a minority of their shares in the club instead of a full sale

Manchester City are in the third spot with a value of £3.5bn, while Arsenal have moved into fourth with a value of £2.9bn.
The Gunners overtook London rivals Chelsea, who now sit in fifth, despite the takeover of owner Todd Boehly with a £4.25bn bid.
That bid appears to be well over the value of the club, with the study valuing the Blues at £2.8bn.
Tottenham are the only other side to be valued in the billions, with the club’s estimated value of £2.6bn.
The rest of the top ten sees London Stadium tenants West Ham as the most valuable club outside of the ‘Big Six’ at £539million.
Crisis club Everton are valued at £486m, Leicester City at £442m and Saudi-owned Newcastle at £357m. More

Brighton bid for Man Utd target Haidara opening the door for Chelsea and Arsenal to battle it out for Caicedo

BRIGHTON are reportedly trying to sign RB Leipzig midfielder Amadou Haidara. And the Mali international’s possible arrival at the Amex Stadium could allow Moises Caicedo to join Arsenal or Chelsea.

Haidara, 24, who signed for Leipzig from RB Salzburg in 2019, has contributed 12 goals and eight assists in 133 appearances for the German side.
According to The Independent, Brighton have seen an offer for the midfielder rejected by the Bundesliga outfit.
It is understood that Leipzig do not want to sell in January as they believe it would be a struggle to find a replacement.
Leipzig are currently just four points off Bayern Munich at the top of the table.

But Haidara’s failure to secure a move in January may only postpone his exit as he has a clause in his contract which will allow him to leave in the summer.
Man Utd and Newcastle have previously been interested in him.
But if Brighton can secure his services, that may free up Seagulls man Caicedo to depart the club.
The Ecuadorian, 21, has been linked with a move to both Arsenal and Chelsea.

He could yet join former team-mate Leandro Trossard at the Emirates, or Marc Cucurella at Stamford Bridge.
But Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi is determined to keep his midfield maestro.
Speaking earlier this month, he said: “He is very important for us, it would be difficult to change with another player now.
“I hope he finishes the season with us, but you know in the transfer market it is always difficult to give you one answer.
“When there are some bigger teams and they want one of our players, it is good news for us.
“The best solution for us is he can finish the season with us. Next summer, for him, is better to change team.” More

FOREST GREEN have sacked manager Ian Burchnall. The Vegans are bottom of League One after picking up just five wins in 28 games.

The club have found it difficult to adjust to the third tier for the first time in their history following promotion from League Two last season.
Manchester United youngster Charlie Savage was targeted as someone who could help transform their fortunes – but Burchnall’s sacking could plunge that move into doubt.
Club chairman Dale Vince released a statement on Burchnall saying: “I’m grateful to Ian for all his hard work this season, it’s definitely not been easy.
“Our first season in League One was always going to be a challenge in itself but it’s been made more difficult by a number of factors, with their roots in last summer.

“I believe in Ian as a coach, but circumstances have led us to this place, we’ve recruited strongly in the January window, player wise – now we need to recruit a new head coach – to give ourselves the best chance or staying in this league.”
Burchnall was also given the opportunity to share some parting words, and he thanked Vince for the opportunity as well as the players and staff he worked with.
He said: “I want to thank Dale for giving me the opportunity to manage in the Football League.
“The challenge was greater than I could have thought coming in. I have learnt a lot though. For the fans, I am sorry that I couldn’t make it work and that they didn’t see the best of my team.

“I hope for them the team turns it around. They deserve a team in League One. My extended thanks to the players, staff and everyone at the club for their efforts – I wish you all the best for the future.”
Burchnall’s dismissal now raises some doubts over whether Forest Green will complete the signing of United youngster Savage.
The 19-year-old was in line to move to The New Lawn Stadium on loan for the rest of the season but the switch could be delayed until after a new manager is appointed.
Burchnall was axed following Forest Green’s defeat by 10-man Bolton, who had Dion Charles sent off in a case of mistaken identity. More

Mikel Arteta’s genius tactics video from three years ago resurfaces – and shows difference between Arsenal and Man Utd

MIKEL ARTETA’s genius tactics video from three years ago has resurfaced after his instructions paid off in Arsenal’s dramatic 3-2 win over Manchester United. The Spaniard’s men are top of the Premier League, holding a five-point advantage over defending champions Manchester City.

Arsenal also have a game in hand over City, which could see the Gunners extend the gap to eight points.
The North London club’s last win may prove to be one of their most important this season.
A win for United would’ve seen Erik ten Hag’s side close the gap on Arsenal, announcing the Old Trafford club in the title race.
However, Arsenal held their nerve with Eddie Nketiah scoring a last-minute winner.

And throughout moments of the game, Arteta’s tactical instructions were at work.
In a three-year-old video, Arteta talked on how he wanted to bring the opposition’s wing-play to a grinding halt.
He said: “Because I don’t like creating lines between the wide players.
“Why? Because the full back passes to the wide player like this. His back’s to goal. He can’t progress the play.

“There’s always someone at his bum. He cannot play forward.”
In the win over United, Oleksandr Zinchenko can be seen playing out this scenario.
Gabriel Martinelli tracked the runner in Aaron Wan-Bissaka, while Zinchenko was hot on Antony’s heels, preventing progression down the line.
Antony was then forced to play the ball backwards.
In the old video, Arteta also stressed how important a player’s angles are when receiving the ball.
The Gunners play with inverted wingers; a left-footed Bukayo Saka playing off the right and a right-footed Martinelli off the left.
Arteta said: “When you do it like this, the angles you create, you’re always receiving the ball like this.”
Against United, as well as Tottenham, Saka could be seen receiving the ball at angles that opened up spaces on the pitch to exploit.
It worked a treat against United as he ended up getting a goal, firing in from range.
Arteta is highly thought of in the Arsenal dressing room, and some of his stars have insisted they’ve never had a coach like the former Gunners midfielder.
Granit Xhaka, who has gone from zero to hero at the Emirates, said: “I’ve had many coaches in my career, but never one like Arteta.

Loan moves and the wrong mentality destroyed my form at Man Utd, but I rebuilt my career, says Federico Macheda

FEDERICO MACHEDA has admitted that loan moves and the wrong mentality prevented him from becoming a Manchester United star.Few have burst on to the scene like the Italian, who struck two winners in his first two games for the club.

Sir Alex Ferguson rang the Italian in 2020 to check up on his progress
A stunning injury-time effort against Aston Villa in April 2009 was followed up by a sharp finish at Sunderland a week later.
Alas, the Italian failed to live up to his early promise and has opened up on his rise, fall, and rise again.
After almost two years in the United set-up, he was sent on loan to Sampdoria for a spell that hammered his confidence.
Macheda, 31, told the Mail: “Those six months marred my career because they tried to kill me as a footballer.

The striker spent time at Queens Park Rangers, Stuttgart, Doncaster and Birmingham before leaving for Cardiff in 2014.
A quiet stint in South Wales was followed by two years back in Italy before finding his feet with Panathinaikos.
A record of 40 goals in 116 games for the Greek outfit was a very respectable return and Macheda acknowledged how tough it was to hit form again.
He has since moved to Turkish Süper Lig club Ankaragücü, but is yet to score this season.
He said: “It hasn’t been as good as I had hoped but I’ve learned a lot.
“I’ve overcome a lot of things in my career.
“Of course, I wish it could have gone another way, with the way it started and the way it was going.
If I could go back, I wouldn’t swap. I wouldn’t change that moment… maybe it came too soonFederico Macheda
“I was very down and I managed to turn things around and that isn’t easy in football, especially after the path I’ve had.
“But if I could go back, I wouldn’t swap. I wouldn’t change that moment. Maybe it came too soon, but it’s something that every United fan will remember.”
Nowadays, the shirt and a photo of his debut winner hang in the family home in Italy and Sir Alex Ferguson even called him up in 2020 to check on his former prodigy.
Macheda has admitted that he perhaps was not well equipped to deal with the demanding life of a professional footballer.
That Villa goal came at the tender age of 17 and he would fail to ‘understand’ what was needed when the going got tough.
He said: “I think I could have done more.
“I was working in an amazing team and I feel I let myself down. The whole picture, not just one thing.
“The way of playing, looking after my body, my life.
“The way of thinking, because when you don’t play you have to fight and I was finding excuses.
“I had the wrong reaction and I wasn’t working as hard as I should have done.
“When you’re young, you don’t understand many things. If I had the mentality I have now, things could have been much different for me.”
