Man Utd told to fork out £18m transfer fee for Marcel Sabitzer if they want to land Bayern Munich star in summer

MANCHESTER UNITED have been told by Bayern Munich how much it would cost to sign Marcel Sabitzer on a permanent basis according to reports. Sabitzer joined the Red Devils in a deadline day loan moan following the news that Christian Eriksen would be out until April or May with an ankle injury.

The Austrian midfielder was thrown into action quicker than he may have envisaged after Casemiro picked up a three-match ban for his red card against Crystal Palace.
He made his debut from the bench in that same game and was handed his first start against Leeds and impressed in Erik Ten Hag’s midfield.
German outlet Sport Bild have reported that the German champions are asking for a fee of £18million for the Austrian international but would be open to negotiating in the summer.
The German outfit will be keen to make a profit on a player who has featured for them 54 times.

The report added that Bayern feel £18million is a fair price for a player they paid £14million for in 2021 from Bundesliga rivals RB Leipizig.
Sabitzer himself has admitted that he would be open to making his stay in Manchester permanent.
He said: ” It’s a loan at the moment, that’s all I can say. I like it here. I’m feeling very good here.
“I like the team, I like the club, the atmosphere in Old Trafford. We will see what happens in the summer.”

Thousands of United fans made the trip to Spain to see them take on one of the Catalan giants.
However, one got a little bit too cocky after the result as they made their way over to the flexi glass that separated the away end from the home spectators.
The man began slapping the glass as Barca fans exited just inches away from him, and then he began singing: “You’ve seen United, now f*** off home.”
Several ignored him, although one did punch the other side of the glass, but the United follower remained undeterred.

And soon enough one Barcelona supporter decided that they had had enough of it as he quickly darted over to the glass and snatched the hat off the head of the annoying visitor.
Other Barca spectators began laughing, but United fans soon joined in and jeered before the hapless individual grabbed his own shirt and pulled it over his head.
But the humiliated man remained undeterred.
He soon restarted his chants – but unfortunately for him others were on hand to capture the whole moment on camera phone.

Man Utd and Chelsea on Neymar transfer alert ‘with PSG winger available to leave this summer for huge fee’

MANCHESTER UNITED and Chelsea have reportedly “been alerted” to the possibility of signing Brazilian superstar Neymar. The 31-year-old’s club Paris Saint-Germain are five points clear at the top of the Ligue 1 table but are on their worst run for 12 years.
A report states Prem clubs have been alerted to Neymar’s potential availabilityCredit: Getty
PSG suffered a 1-0 home defeat to Bayern Munich in the first leg of their last-16 Champions League clash this week.
The Bayern setback marked a third straight defeat in all competitions for PSG – the first time that has happened since 2011.
Neymar, who was slammed for enjoying a McDonald’s and hitting a casino after the midweek loss, was involved in a dressing-room row with chief Luis Campos on Sunday after being beaten 3-1 at Monaco.
And that result came after the 2-1 setback at Marseille in the last-16 of the French Cup.

Now 90 Mins are claiming that the forward could be offloaded by PSG at the end of the campaign.
Neymar, the world’s most-expensive footballer, is believed to be under contract at Parc des Princes until 2027.
However, the French giants “are understood to be open to his possible departure” and “sources have confirmed to 90min that a number of Premier League sides have been spoken to over a potential deal”.
They state that “intermediaries are believed to have spoken with Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Newcastle” to inform them of the Samba star’s interest in playing in the Premier League.

Tottenham legend Chris Waddle issues Harry Kane warning to Man Utd and explains why Chelsea spent too much on Fernandez

CHRIS WADDLE warned Manchester United that Tottenham superstar Harry Kane may not fit manager Erik ten Hag’s style.United continue to be linked with a sensational swoop for Kane, who is entering the final year of his contract in the summer and Ten Hag has prioritised the signing of a striker.
Chris Waddle believes Tottenham star Harry Kane may not fit Manchester United’s styleCredit: Rex
But Spurs legend Waddle has warned the Red Devils that the England captain could struggle to adapt to the Dutch tactician’s pressing on the ball.
However, the 62-year-old insists the star centre-forward could still bring goals, especially if Ten Hag found a way to include him to his tactics.
Waddle told SunSport: “It would be a bit of a strange one; Harry Kane’s a great footballer and his goal record is phenomenal, I think he could fit into most teams.
“But normally I’ve got to say that Ten Hag likes somebody who starts the pressing, that’s why he’s brought in Wout Weghorst. Obviously he’s not Harry Kane but the lad works very hard, he brings players up the field.
    Read More on Football
“He likes to go and press and that starts Man Utd’s game plan. I don’t think that’s Harry Kane’s strength, turning and chasing different centre-halves down, he’s a different type of player.
“If you’re going to play a different style of football then obviously Harry Kane, as he does for Tottenham, he wants to come off the centre-halves and link the play, gets into little pockets where he’s hard to pick up.
“So, it would be a strange one I think for Ten Hag given the way he likes to play. It would look strange how Harry Kane would actually fit in with the way he plays. But he’s obviously a goalscorer and Man Utd want somebody.
“I know Marcus Rashford’s doing it at the minute but they need somebody up there whose going to get 20 goals plus every season.”
    Most read in Football
Waddle, though, hinted United would be “taking a risk” if they tried to sign Kane in the summer, especially if they expect him to lead them to trophies.
That is because of the 29-year-old’s advanced age and his high asking price.
Waddle added: “It’s a hard one. Listen it’s going to cost a lot of money to get him out of his contract, whether these clubs are willing to pay.
“I think he’s 29 now, so it’ll be his last big contract for a four or five-year deal I’d think. It’s a big decision for any club to say we want Harry Kane. I understand why a lot of big clubs are linked with him, because as I said he’s a very good player.

“You’re taking a risk on him aren’t you, so it’s basically shelling out money to win honours. Now if you’re winning trophies then it’s been worthwhile, but if you don’t win trophies then a lot of people will say it wasn’t money well spent.
“Everybody is a gamble at modern day prices, but the one thing with Harry Kane is that he is proven, and I’m sure Man Utd would be buying a player who could easily fit into Man Utd.”
Kane would command a high fee, but no one has cost more than Premier League record signing Enzo Fernandez who joined Chelsea from Benfica for £107million in January.
Waddle was impressed with Fernandez’s performances at the 2022 World Cup, where he helped Argentina win the title and was awarded as they competition’s best young player.
But the former England international believes the 22-year-old’s fee should have been splashed for someone closer to the calibre of a proven star like Lionel Messi.
Waddle said: “Well it was a lot of money, I watched him in the World Cup but, obviously Messi was a star for them. You look at their team and he’s not somebody who catches the eye.
Chris Waddle hinted Chelsea should have spent Enzo Fernandez’s fee for a bigger starCredit: Rex
“He’s a player who works hard, he’s a very good passer of the ball, he keeps the ball very well. He’s got a few different attributes than Jorginho had or Mateo Kovacic. I wouldn’t say he was streets ahead of them, so time will tell.
“Chelsea will be good, because the players that they have signed are good players, but it’s going to take time which is why I’m waiting for them to kick in.
“Would I say they’ve spent too much money on him? I’d probably say that about a lot of players. For me, he’s got to score goals, he’s got to make goals, he’s got to be an unbelievable player all over the park.
“He’s not a dribbler, he’s not an exciting player, which then people might think if he’s playing at an average level then people will say why have you paid that much money?
    Read More on The Sun
“For me paying £110-115m, you need someone like Lionel Messi for that money, and he’s definitely not Lionel Messi.”

Man Utd share price SOARS by £334m as Qatar ready £5bn deadline day bid in takeover battle with Ratcliffe and Saudis

MANCHESTER UNITED’s share price soared by £334million in a DAY as Qatar investors plan a £5billion bid for the club. This interest has had a huge effect on the Red Devils’ share price as a deadline for takeover bids is reached.

The price had been £19.87 per share, but after the jump the price has risen to £20.35 per share, an increase of over three per cent.
The increase is more than what was paid by PIF to take Newcastle off the hands of Mike Ashley, according to football finance expert Kieran Maguire.
The Qataris are set to lodge their £5bn bid for the club ahead the Glazers’ self-imposed deadline of 10pm on Friday, according to Bloomberg.
They will have to compete with interest from Saudi Arabia, the USA as well as from United supporter and billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

The Qatar investor group had reportedly been interested in buying Liverpool but after failure, have reportedly put all their focus on acquiring the Red Devils.
The failed bid to buy rivals Liverpool was reported by Qatar-based journalist Mohammed Al-Kaabi.
Both clubs are on the market as they look to compete with Manchester City and Chelsea’s millions in the summer transfer window.
The Qataris had hoped to take full control from John W. Henry’s Fenway Sports Group at Anfield.

However, Liverpool’s American owners have reportedly refused to give up majority control in any sale.
This goes against the wishes of the Qataris, who apparently want much more than a minority stake in any club.
And it’s reckoned they are now focused on a complete takeover at United instead.
Meanwhile, CBS adds that the Qataris and Liverpool never reached advanced negotiations and no concrete bid was made.
And any offer made for United is likely to come under the Glazers’ valuation.
The Glazers are hoping for a full sale of United for around £6billion.
But Uefa were today urged to block any offer from the Middle Eastern country due to concerns over Qatar’s ties to Paris Saint-Germain.
However, it’s reckoned European football’s governing body will not KO a bid from Qatar.
Two clubs competing in the same competition cannot be controlled by the same owners. If they were, one of PSG or Manchester United would have to sit out of the Champions League.
It’s not clear if the group interested in buying Manchester United have any link with Qatar Sports Investments, the owners of PSG.
Investors from Qatar would join Arab compatriots like Saudi Arabia and the UAE in splashing the cash in the Premier League.
Newcastle have Saudi owners while Man City are controlled by the UAE.
The Telegraph report that a Saudi Arabian bid is imminent.
Any new owners will have to go some way to match the £600million spent by Chelsea’s American backers, with Todd Boehly prepared to find even more for a new striker this summer.
Ratcliffe has been interested in buying the club since news that the Glazers were willing to part with it.
The OCG Nice owner is a Man United supporter, however The Times report suggests that he faces a big challenge beating the Qataris to being the new owner of the club.
This is because of the group’s “resources and a desire for their first Premier League acquisition to be United”.
Tech giants Apple and Spanish billionaire Amancio Ortega have also previously been mentioned as contenders when the Glazers first expressed a willingness to sell, although the latter has distanced himself from a bid.

Raine, the New York investment bank, have been enlisted to deal with the sale of the club.
And the bank is “confident” it can be completed in the next six weeks, according to The Times.
