He’s signed an 18 month contract until 2024.
Herrera is currently in his second spell with Bilbao having had three years there before signing for Manchester United in 2014.

And his form at United landed him a move to PSG, where he enjoyed a successful time of things, lifting seven domestic trophies in three years.

But his permanent switch to Bilbao ends his stay in the French capital.
Although his move helped out Nottingham Forest in their pursuit of PSG goalkeeper Keylor Navas.
That’s because Herrera’s transfer allowed the Ligue 1 leaders to loan Navas out to the City Ground.
And FIFA rules state that clubs can’t have more than eight players over the age of 21 loaned out at the same time with PSG already at the limit.

Merson wasn’t impressed with the Red Devils’ signing as he labelled the midfielder as a “panic buy” and a “fourth-rate player”.
Merson told Sky Sports: “He doesn’t get in the Bayern Munich team, as the manager just said. He’s way off that.
“Their two in midfield is cemented but if he was that good, he’d be pushing. So again it goes back to panic. There was no interest in him on January 1st. Now, it’s a panic buy.
“Eriksen has just got injured. It’s a panic. You’re buying fourth-choice Bayern Munich players. For me, I’m not sure about that. He doesn’t get into the Bayern Munich team.

“If I’m a Manchester United fan or a Chelsea fan, I’d be looking and going, he doesn’t get anywhere near Bayern’s first team.”
But Ferdinand strongly disagrees with the Arsenal hero’s comments as he said they “stink of someone who hasn’t seen him play”.
The legendary defender insists Sabitzer is an ideal replacement for Eriksen after a “sensational” seven-year stint at RB Leipzig.
The ex-England international admits the 28-year-old “hasn’t tore it up” at Bayern since his arrival in 2021 but that is due to the immense competition he faces in the pecking order.

Ferdinand told Vibe with FIVE: “If I was trying to get a short-term replacement for Eriksen at the drop of a hat, Sabitzer is the player I would get.
“I watched a hell of a lot of this player when he was at RB Leipzig and he was sensational.
“He was integral to everything they did. Yes, he’s gone to Bayern and hasn’t tore it up there or become a regular but the players he’s behind are big, household names.
“He will be a really good signing for Man United. He’s an experienced player who has played in big games, Champions League games.

“For me, those comments [from Merson] stink of someone who hasn’t seen him play. This guys knows how to play football.
“You don’t get signed by Bayern Munich if you’re a chump. He’s a really, really good footballer.
“Manchester United couldn’t have done any better, I don’t think.” More

Sabizter, 28, completed a shock deadline day move to Old Trafford after United discovered Christian Eriksen would be sidelined until May.
The versatile midfielder is likely to slot straight in the side next to Casemiro.
But Sabitzer can also operate further forward or on the wing.
It means Erik ten Hag will be tempted to thrust him straight into the action tonight against Nottingham Forest.

Three formations Man Utd could use to get best out of Marcel Sabitzer after loan transfer and Eriksen injury

MANCHESTER UNITED secured the loan signing of Marcel Sabitzer on transfer deadline day.And Erik ten Hag now has a versatile star to call upon for a host of tactical plans.
Man Utd could potentially line up with new loan signing Marcel Sabitzer in three waysCredit: Getty
Versatile Sabitzer is most likely to line up in a midfield two with Casemiro
Sabitzer, 28, was poached from Bayern Munich following the news that Christian Eriksen had been ruled out injured until May.
Despite reports of interest from Chelsea, United moved quickly to strike terms with the player and his club.
And despite cutting it close to the deadline, the Red Devils managed to get a deal done for Sabitzer on time.
A box-to-box midfielder by trade, Sabitzer is most likely set to slot in as Eriksen’s direct replacement alongside Casemiro.

That would allow United to keep their most tried-and-trusted shape under Ten Hag.
But Sabitzer started life as a right winger at RB Leipzig.
And he could be an option ahead of Antony and Jadon Sancho on the flank if Ten Hag wants more midfield control with Fred or Scott McTominay.
Sabitzer is equally capable of playing as an attacking No10 behind the striker.

Sabitzer could be an option for United on the right wing
Another option is to play Sabitzer as a No10, allowing Bruno Fernandes to go wide
That position tends to be occupied by Bruno Fernandes.
But the Portuguese maestro has also shown he can dictate play from out wide.
And that could allow a tactical shuffle for Marcus Rashford to go up top, with Tyrell Malacia overlapping Fernandes as a wing-back.

It now remains to be seen when Sabitzer makes his debut, with a starting spot in tonight’s Carabao Cup semi against Nottingham Forest unlikely.
But Saturday’s home match against Crystal Palace could provide the perfect opportunity, with United then hosting rivals Leeds next week. More

The Red Devils dipped into the transfer market on deadline day after Christian Eriksen was ruled out for three months with an ankle injury.
An agreement was reached on Tuesday for Sabitzer to join on a short-term deal.
Sabitzer was seen at Munich airport earlier on Tuesday evening before jetting to the UK.
Thousands of excited United fans then tracked a private plane, believed to be carrying the new signing, as it flew to Manchester.
It landed shortly before 8pm, before Sabitzer arrived at United’s Carrington HQ around an hour later.
Sabitzer joined Bayern in the summer of 2021 from RB Leipzig, but has struggled to nail down a regular starting spot.
He has made just seven league starts this season, the last of which came against Borussia Dortmund in October.
However, Eriksen’s injury means Sabitzer could slot straight into the team.

‘Doesn’t belong on a football pitch’ – Man Utd boss Erik Ten Hag RAGES at Andy Carroll after injuring Christian Eriksen

ERIK TEN HAG has torn into Andy Carroll for his reckless challenge that KO’d Christian Eriksen for at least three months. The Manchester United boss said the Reading striker’s actions did not belong on a football pitch.

And asked if the former Newcastle and Liverpool player deliberately set out to hurt his United stars, as he later ended up with a red card, Ten Hag was not letting him off the hook.
Ten Hag said: “I think it was quite clear what my thoughts were.”
Carroll scythed down Eriksen with a reckless challenge early in the second-half of United’s 3-1 FA Cup fourth-round victory over Reading on Saturday.
While he escaped punishment for that, Carroll would receive yellow cards and a subsequent red for fouls soon after on Tyrell Malacia and then Casemiro.

Ten Hag said: “I think football has to set restrictions that protect the players.
“What football wants is the best players to be available on the pitch.
“This is a tackle — and the two tackles after it — that don’t belong on a pitch, because there is a high risk of injuring your colleague.
“So it’s worse and I’m left wondering about that.”

The Red Devils boss added that he was still mystified how Jean-Philippe Mateta of Crystal Palace was not booked for an elbow on Lisandro Martinez in United’s recent trip to Selhurst Park.
He said: “I’m also wondering more, when we were at Palace, when there was an elbow on Lisandro Martinez.
“I don’t believe there was even a whistle for a free-kick and I’m wondering about such things, because it’s a risk of injury for the player.”
Eriksen injured an ankle as he was felled by Carroll and United have confirmed  he will not be available until at least the end of April and maybe into the last month of the season, May.
It is a major blow for Ten Hag to lose the in-form Danish playmaker particularly with Donny van de Beek out for the rest of the season and Scott McTominay sidelined for over a fortnight with a muscle problem.
This is a tackle — and the two tackles after it — that don’t belong on a pitch, because there is a high risk of injuring your colleague.Erik ten Hag
Which is why he had a late deadline day scramble to get Bayern Munich’s Marcel Sabitzer.
Earlier in the day Ten Hag explained the reasons for needing 28-year-old Austrian international midfielder Sabitzer.
He said: “You can set the squad up but then in January, Donny is out for the rest of the season and Christian for part of the season and also Scott McTominay is not available for a week, two weeks, even longer. So we have a challenge there. We have quality players there, that is obvious, but the depth is not there anymore.”
Ten Hag knows Fred can make an impact in Eriksen’s place and has faith his combination with Casemiro that works so well for Brazil can also do the trick for United.
He said: “Fred’s playing together with Casemiro in the Brazil squad, that’s not the worst squad in the world.
“They have so many choices they can make, but they play together and that tells you something about the quality Fred has.”
They could pair up tonight in United’s Carabao Cup semi-final second leg against Nottingham Forest.
Despite a 3-0 advantage from the first leg at the City Ground, Ten Hag insists he is still going to field a strong side to ensure the momentum gathered from a run of 11 wins, one draw and one defeat in the last 13 games is maintained.
He said: “We have a perfect chance to go to Wembley and therefore we have to focus. It will be a strong team.
“We have momentum and want to keep the process going.

“Nottingham Forest are a good team they have real good depth in their squad, they can do things differently and we have to be prepared for that.”

The Red Devils were forced into a deadline day swoop after Christian Eriksen was ruled out for three months with an ankle injury.
An agreement with Bayern Munich was reached this afternoon, although there is no option or obligation to buy.

Sabitzer, 28, agreed personal terms with United on the temporary switch before being seen at Munich airport on Tuesday evening ahead of his arrival at Old Trafford.
But 2005 Champions League winner Hamann, 49, has claimed Sabitzer could struggle to be an instant hit.

However, with the deal a straight loan until the end of the season, Sabitzer has no choice but to hit the ground running.
Hamann told Sky Sports: “He [Sabitzer] is a very energetic player, he has got a good engine, he can nick a goal, I think his best position is probably a bit further forward.
“I don’t think he is a defensive or a holding midfielder.
“I am pretty surprised Chelsea and Manchester United are interested because I am not sure he will help them straight away.

“He is a good squad player to have but whether he makes an immediate impact I’m not sure.”
Hamann continued: “He is certainly not a player to replace Christian Eriksen, I think he is a box-to-box player who has got a good engine, he’s very versatile, he played full-back at times.”
However, Hamann added that Sabitzer does have the potential to be a “very good player” for the Red Devils.
Chelsea were also rumoured to be interested in the Austrian, who joined Bayern 18 months ago from RB Leipzig.
But Hamann claimed Sabitzer does not have the same ability as Conor Gallagher, who has been linked with a move to Newcastle and Everton.
He added: “I think he [Sabitzer] would be a very good player for Manchester United to have but at the same time I am very surprised Chelsea are thinking of offloading Conor Gallagher and going for Sabitzer because I don’t think he is in Gallagher’s league.”
Sabitzer has played 24 games in all competitions for Bayern this season, but has started just seven Bundesliga games. More
