Raya has kept eight clean sheets and made 100 saves, more than any other stopper in the league.
The 27-year-old has just entered the last 18 months of his contract at Brentford and he refused to rule out leaving the club.
Raya spoke to The Athletic saying: “I turned down two contracts, one last year and one this January.
“They weren’t the offers we were looking for. I can only say that.”

“I want to focus on playing games and not think too much about my future.
“I have a contract here, so I’m willing to finish that, but you never know what’s going to happen in the summer.
“Maybe the club wants to sell, maybe not. Maybe I want to stay. I want to focus on football and see what happens.
“The club will decide the price and if a club wants to pay money, that will be it. I’m not worried about that. I’m not in charge of that.

“I want to play in Europe and I want to fight to win a title.
“I want to fight to win a European title. I trust myself to be able to play in those types of games.”
This comes as Man Utd and Spurs both reportedly keep tabs on the Spaniard.
The Red Devils could be in the market for a new number one at the end of the season with David De Gea’s contract expiring.
Meanwhile, Spurs could look to replace Hugo Lloris.
The Frenchman’s deal ends in 18 months and aged 36, a younger keeper could be wanted by the club. More

Man Utd’s biggest obstacle might be fatigue but there are three areas Ten Hag will target to win the Carabao Cup final

IT’s the first cup final of the season and the start of the ‘squeaky bum time’ period.  Firstly, credit to Newcastle United who have been transformed under Eddie Howe since he was appointed in November 2021.

The Red Devils faced opponents Newcastle earlier on in the season, with the game finishing 0-0 at Old TraffordCredit: Getty
They have a genuine chance of finishing in the Champions League places and compete on Sunday in their first cup final since 1999 – which incidentally was against tomorrow’s opponents Manchester United.
Not many finals are entertaining for the neutral, but with contrasting styles, this is unlikely to make extra-time.
United and Newcastle have faced each other once this season at Old Trafford in the Premier League, with the match ending in a 0-0 draw – but as we saw during the midweek victory against Barcelona, this is a different Man Utd team now.
Such has been the progress under Erik ten Hag, his side are expected to win every game they play – but to win a trophy in his first season in charge, given how they started back in August, would be a superb and richly deserved achievement.

So what might stop them other than Newcastle’s desire to win some silverware for the first time since 1955?
United’s biggest obstacle might be fatigue.
A gruelling February has seen them play seven times already, the cup final against Newcastle will be their eighth match of the month.
In comparison, Newcastle have played only three times, and have had a week to prepare for the Wembley showpiece.

Casemiro’s suspension and Antony’s recent injury means that they will almost certainly start and provide a “freshness” that ten Hag will welcome.
In defence Lisandro Martinez should be partnered by multiple Champions League winner Raphael Varane, providing the Frenchman can play a second game in quick succession this week.
Marcus Rashford’s ‘knock’ against Barcelona means he will have a race against time to be fit, but you’d be surprised if he didn’t start given the magnitude of the match.
How will Ten Hag win the Carabao Cup?
Ten Hag praised Newcastle and Howe for how they’ve performed this season but he will want his side to take control of possession as early as possible.
One concern in recent weeks has been the speed in which United start matches.
Against Leeds at Old Trafford it took the home team an hour to get going, and in the Europa League tie against Barcelona on Thursday, it took until just after half-time and Fred’s goal for United to start playing.
Another tactical factor to keep an eye out for is tempo.
If United play quick, one-touch football in that final third, then they’re as dangerous as anyone in Europe, and Newcastle will  find them difficult to stop.
The final match winning aspect of United’s team is the experience and culture Ten Hag has developed.
Varane, Martinez, Casemiro, Antony and De Gea are all tipped to start tomorrow and have all won major trophies in their career.

If tiredness is a factor or Newcastle start applying pressure, the minutes played and trophies these players have accumulated over the years will be very beneficial.

Mason Greenwood has first face-to-face meeting with Man Utd bosses as club probes star after rape charge dropped

MASON Greenwood has held his first face-to-face meeting with Manchester United bosses since a rape charge against him was dropped. The striker and his representatives met with senior club officials as part of its internal investigation into the allegations against him.

Greenwood, 21, was cleared of any wrongdoing earlier this month when the Crown Prosecution Service dropped charges of attempted rape, assault and controlling and coercive behaviour.
The England international thought he would then be able to restart his career, but United immediately announced it would “now conduct its own process before determining next steps”.
The aim of the review is to give United’s leadership team a more complete understanding of the circumstances around the allegations made against Greenwood by a woman in January 2022, which led to his arrest.
The star remains suspended while the probe is completed.

Greenwood met with the club prior to United’s Europa League first leg clash against Barcelona on 16 February.
A source said: “Mason and his team met with the club to start the process of trying to get to the bottom of exactly what may or may not have happened.
“It is an extremely sensitive situation and the club think it is only fair that Mason is given the opportunity to fully explain himself.
“The club are keen to hear his version of events. Only when they have the full picture, can they start to move things forward.”

There is no timeline on the investigation being concluded but a source told The Sun on Sunday Greenwood does not believe he will play this season, even if the club decide to keep him.
He is unable to train or play for United, while the investigation is ongoing, but is being paid his £75,000-a-week wage.
The Sun on Sunday previously told how manager Erik ten Hag had held a telephone conversation with Greenwood after the charges were dropped.
And it was revealed yesterday that Greenwood is set to become a dad for the first time with his partner.
A source close to the couple said: “They and their families are both very happy and really looking forward to the baby’s arrival.”
It comes after The Sun revealed that the Three Lions ace had secret meetings with his teammates after the case against him was withdrawn.
However, Greenwood’s hopes of a return to Old Trafford were endangered amid opposition from United’s female stars.
The women’s team were said to be “disturbed” by the prospect of his return.
Likewise, female fans of the club said that they felt he should never play for the club again.
Meanwhile, a top sports lawyer said Greenwood may have lost “millions” after being dropped by major sponsors Nike.

A PR expert added that any club taking him on, should United let him go, would take on a huge financial risk.
Despite this, a Champions League team have made “inquiries” over a possible transfer, while Greenwood himself was reported to be eyeing a move abroad to restart his career if he’s dropped by his current club.

And a new midfielder is understood to be the priority.
According to Spanish outlet AS, both clubs are keen on signing Veiga from Celta Vigo.
The 20-year-old is currently enjoying a breakthrough season in La Liga with six goals and two assists in 21 games.
He has been highly regarded as Celta Vigo’s best player alongside former Liverpool star Iago Aspas.

Veiga became a permanent member of the first team in January after spending the first half of the season without a squad number.
And many fans are already calling him ‘a revelation’.
Celta Vigo are said to be reluctant to let Veiga go, however, club chiefs are confident that they will be able to sell him for a record fee should he decide to leave.
While Arsenal and Man Utd remain interested, they will have to compete with the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid for his signature.

The two La Liga giants are also keen on signing the young star.
Veiga is expected to be handed his first senior cap for Spain within the next few months, so more clubs could begin to express an interest before the summer should he impress.
The midfielder made his debut for Spain U-21’s in November, but he is yet to score an international goal at that level. More

‘Going to be a god’ – Watch Man Utd loanee score stunning goal as fans say he can challenge Antony

MANCHESTER UNITED fans were salivating at the thought of their options next year as Amad Diallo scored a stunning goal. The 20-year-old has been on loan at Championship side Sunderland throughout the season.

And Diallo continued his strong vein of form today with a superb curling effort against Coventry City.
United fans saw the effort from the right hand side of the penalty area and lavished praise on the winger.

Diallo’s finish struck similarities with both Antony’s match-winner against Barcelona and a sensational effort from Man Utd flop Angel Di Maria, which both came on Thursday.

I played with Beckham in Man Utd’s Class of ‘92 and was compared to George Best – Fergie tried to resign me after I left

NOT MANY players can say that Sir Alex Ferguson tried to sign them TWICE – but this now unrecognisable former winger is in the elite band. The ex-Northern Ireland international had many comparing him to Manchester United legend George Best due to his exploits with the club’s famed Class of ‘92 FA Youth Cup-winning side.

Unfortunately for the now 48-year-old, he also had David Beckham vying for the same position.
The man we are talking about is of course Keith Gillespie, who did go on to forge an impressive career for himself in the Premier League.
The flanker left his hometown of Larne to sign for Fergie’s United upon leaving school in the summer of 1991.
The following year he famously starred alongside the likes of Beckham, Gary and Phil Neville, Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes as the club’s youngsters won the FA Youth Cup.
    READ MORE ON MAN UTD
Gillespie was rewarded with a first-team debut against Bury in the FA Cup third round in January 1993 – and he celebrated that feat with a goal in the 2-0 win.
A short stint on loan at Wigan followed, where he scored four goals in eight matches, before he returned to Old Trafford as a fully-fledged member of the first-team squad.
However, he found match action difficult to come by amid the form of Andrei Kanchelkis down the right.
Gillespie did make a total of 14 appearances for the Red Devils, including nine in the Premier League, but he soon found himself involved in one of the most explosive transfer deals of the 1990s.

He was sold to Newcastle in January 1995 as a £1million makeweight as Andy Cole headed to United in the opposition direction for a then British record £7m fee.
However, just months later Ferguson was trying to sign him back after flogging Kanchelskis to Everton.
But by that point he was already becoming a firm part of Kevin Keegan’s iconic Entertainers on Tyneside but they narrowly missed out to United in the title race the following season.
Gillespie enjoyed three years at St. James’ Park and experienced playing in the Champions League as he made 113 top-flight appearances and scored 11 times before he transferred to Blackburn.
Despite a fall-out with Graeme Souness which led to another loan stint at Wigan, he eventually helped Rovers to win promotion back to the Premier League and then lifted the League Cup with them in 2002.
Gillespie joined Leicester City in 2003 but went on to sign for Sheffield United two years later and enjoyed another promotion success with the Blades.
But the ace was suffering gambling problems off the pitch, which he talks in great detail about in his autobiography, How Not To Be A Football Millionaire.

Gillespie’s career began to slide following a loan to Charlton Athletic as he headed to Bradford on a short-term deal in March 2009.
He failed to win a new contract and instead left England for a spell in Ireland with Glentoran but did make a brief comeback to these shores with Darlington in the National League in October 2010.
Gillespie only made three appearances and then signed for League of Ireland First Division side Longford Town in March 2011.

He retired in September 2013 but returned to the pitch in 2020 at the age of 45 to play for newly-formed Mid-Ulster Football League side FC Mindwell, a club created to raise awareness of mental health issues.
He finished his career having played over 500 matches and with 86 caps for Northern Ireland.
