Dortmund’s ‘disturbing’ Jude Bellingham statements after Man Utd and Chelsea transfer target struggles for form

But he has struggled to regain that level of performance in recent weeks.
And it is now a month since he registered a goal or assist for the Bundesliga giants.
Sporting director Sebastian Kehl was quizzed about Bellingham’s difficulties following Dortmund’s 2-2 draw with Schalke over the weekend.
He said: “Maybe he’s missing a goal here or there that he scored in the first half of the season.

“He works. He wants and wants. And yet there are times when that’s okay. You also have to admit that a player doesn’t always play at the highest level.
“But I know with him that he works hard on himself. That’s where it goes.”
However, Kehl then hinted at Bellingham carrying an injury after being asked specifically about the bandaging he has been wearing on his left knee.
Kehl replied: “He has been treated regularly over the past few weeks.

“That may end up costing one or two per cent. We hope that we can get this under control quickly.”
Pressed further on the knee problem, he cryptically added: “As long as he can play, everything is fine.”
German newspaper Bild described the comments as “disturbing” as Dortmund fans face an anxious wait over the fitness of their star midfielder.
Bellingham has been heavily linked with a move away from Dortmund this summer, with Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Real Madrid among the clubs keen to sign him.
Meanwhile, Dortmund’s run of eight Bundesliga wins in a row came to an end at the hands of Schalke as they dropped two points behind Bayern Munich in the title race.
It came just four days after Edin Terzic’s side were dumped out of the Champions League by Chelsea. More

talkSPORT commentator unhappy with BBC for using his commentary during Chelsea vs Man Utd clash

A COMMENTATOR has said he wished the BBC had not used his commentary over their Women’s Super League coverage as the Gary Lineker row rolls on.

talkSPORT‘s Nigel Adderley was working for the FA world feed as the Beeb scrambled for replacements to work on Chelsea v Manchester United.

Nigel Adderley has made clear where he stands in the BBC’s civil war

Presenters, pundits and commentators have withdrawn their services in solidarity after Lineker was suspended for controversial criticism of the Government’s migration policy.

It left BBC Radio 5 Live stripped of its usual Saturday coverage, Football Focus and Final Score pulled off the air and a strange, shortened Match of the Day with no studio presentation.

The BBC narrowly avoided a live 90 minute game without commentary as they were able to get world feed commentary for the match at Kingsmeadow.

But Adderley revealed he agreed with his colleagues’ protests.

He said on Twitter: “To be clear, I was commentating on Chelsea v Man U for the FA’s World Feed coverage.

“I wasn’t booked by the BBC and I won’t be paid by them. In all honesty, I would rather they hadn’t taken it but they were entitled to.

“I entirely support the stance of other colleagues from MOTD.”

The game finished 1-0 to Chelsea after Sam Kerr’s winner, putting the Blues three points clear at the top in the WSL’s fascinating four-way title tussle.

And the game began on an awkward note as a technical glitch left viewers with no commentary at the beginning of the match.

Adderley’s stance reflects the broadcasting community’s continuing backing of Lineker, with Match of the Day 2 also to have a reduced format on Sunday night.

The extraordinary standoff could come to an end sooner rather than later with Lineker reportedly in talks with BBC boss Tim Davie over getting him back on air for Saturday’s live FA Cup coverage.

Meanwhile, Lineker allies and MOTD pundits Ian Wright and Alan Shearer were back on the telly today for Premier League TV. More

Erik ten Hag calls up four Man Utd youngsters to first-team training including kid who ‘had spat with Anthony Martial’

ERIK TEN HAG invited youngster Dan Gore and three other Manchester United academy stars to first-team training this week.Marc Jurado, Omari Forson, and Sam Murray were the other starlets – but it was Gore’s inclusion which was the most interesting.

Back in November, the midfielder, 18, clashed with Anthony Martial in a training session during the World Cup.
That could have made this week’s session all the more interesting – given their history.
The pair’s furious exchange was sparked when Gore flew into a tackle on the French forward.
Dutch tactician Ten Hag had told his squad that tackles on the first team were forbidden.

But, Gore didn’t listen to the warning and reportedly went in hard on Martial, according to the Daily Mirror.
The former Monaco star was said to have squared up to the teenager – as team-mates rushed in to pull the feuding two apart.
Any potential disagreement is believed to have been handled internally – with Martial apologising to Gore.

Talking about Martial’s injury woes, ten Hag said: “Yeah, but I think all the time we had a good plan and it worked until now not always good.
“But he is on his way back, he’s back in training but we will be cautious.”
Meanwhile, Gore is yet to make a first team appearance for the Red Devils.

Casemiro was left distraught after he was sent for an early bath after his challenge on Saints midfielder Carlos Alcaraz.
Ten Hag was coy about giving his thoughts on the decision but did blame officials for the result of the match.
When pressed on whether or not he thought Casemiro should have been sent off, he replied: “That is not the issue, we will deal with that.
“The deal is that this game was influenced by the referee.

“I said what I said, and that is the refereeing is influencing the game and we are talking about two issues.”
Taylor also refereed the Chelsea match against Leicester but kept his cards in his pocket when Kai Havertz was caught by Daniel Amartey in a similar way.
The other moment Ten Hag referenced was when the ball struck Armel Bella-Kotchap’s arm in the box at the end of the first half – with no penalty awarded.
The United boss said: “Oh definitely, no doubt, so I don’t understand why the VAR is not interrupting as they already had.”

Man Utd 0 Southampton 0: Casemiro sent off for horror tackle as Red Devils drop points against bottom of the league

CASEMIRO SAW red for the second time in eight games as ten man Manchester United could only draw against Southampton. The Brazilian turned sinner against The Saints with a 32nd minute challenge on Carlos Alcaraz that saw him sent-off after referee Anthony Taylor reviewed the incident on the pitch-side screen.

He will now miss four games with it being his second sending off of the season which is a major blow to the Red Devils.
Despite being a man down for over an hour of play, including injury time, United still could have snatched this, as could the visitors.
While it was a goalless draw it was a game full of action with the woodwork hit at either end, some fantastic goalkeeping and penalty appeals aplenty.
Marcus Rashford had two early chances to break the deadlock.

After exchanging passes with Fernandes he was through on an angle but his shot to the far corner was saved.
Wout Weghorst was furious that his teammate hadn’t squared to him, he probably thought he would miss anyway.
From the very next attack Rashford had another chance when put through by Fernandes again, but his first touch was heavy allowing goalkeeper Gavin Bazuna to win the race to the ball.
Southampton’s recent revival that had brought two wins from new boss Ruben Selles three games in charge had prompted Ten Hag to warn that this would be no easy game.

So it would prove and it was only the brilliance of David de Gea that denied them the lead in the 24th minute.
Romain Perraud was looking dangerous down the left and his cross into the centre of the box was met by Theo Walcott with a bullet header that De Gea did brilliantly to tip over the bar.
Weghorst would have a free header but perhaps not surprisingly steered it straight into the goalkeeper’s arms
Then came the sending off as Casemiro slid in on Alcaraz.
Referee Taylor initially showed a yellow card but the VAR told him to have another look on the pitch side monitor.
The slow motion showed that Casemiro touched the ball first.
He clipped the top of it but his foot continued on into the shin of Alcaraz.
Taylor needed a few looks to make his mind up so it could have gone either way, but rarely do refs defy the VAR and he rescinded the yellow and showed red.

It almost proved more costly when from the resulting free kick James Ward-Prowse’s effort deflected of Rashford’s head in the wall and fell just wide of the far post.
Weghorst would be the player sacrificed as Ten Hag reshuffled bringing on another midfielder to take Casemiro’s place in Scott McTominay.
There were two penalty claims from United in quick succession before the break.
The first was for a challenge by Kyle Walker-Peters on Fernandes but the Southampton player won the ball.
Then when there were cries of handball the replay showed that Rashford’s cross had actually hit Armel Bella-Kotchap in the chest.
Not surprisingly referee Taylor got a rough time from the crowd as he walked off at the break and on his return to get the second-half underway.
Tern Hag reappeared and urged the Stretford End to up the volume but it was nearly the Saints fans celebrating just three minutes later.

Kyle Walker-Peters ball into the box was deflected past his own goalkeeper by McTominay but Wan-Bissaka came to the rescue hooking the ball of the line.
Ward-Prowse than shaved the cross bar with a free-kick and Walcott was denied one-on-one by another flying save from De Gea.
It was all action with the post then rattled at either end.
Bruno Fernandes low shot from outside the area looked to be heading in but Bazuno got a finger tip to it deflecting on to the woodwork.
Then Walker-Peters thunderbolt beat De Gea but crashed off the far post.
There was another penalty appeal when Rashford went through and caught the sliding Bazunu with his trailing leg as the ball was running out of play.
Not enough for ref Taylor to award a kick.
Despite being down to ten, Ten Hag was going for this bringing Alejandro Garnacho and Facundo Pellistri onto either wing to add some pace in attack.
