      Pochettino has penned a two-year deal at Stamford Bridge and will officially take over from caretaker manager Frank Lampard on July 1.
      The former Tottenham Hotspur gaffer’s clear out of the Chelsea squad is now underway, with several players already axed.
      As for incomings, Pochettino has highlighted midfield as an area in need of reinforcements during the summer.
      Sporting Lisbon star Manuel Ugarte is at the top of his wishlist, with Pochettino understood to be confident a deal can be completed.

      However, A Bola now report that United have entered the race to sign the Uruguayan.
      The Red Devils’ interest could cause an issue for Chelsea, who have already had to contend with a rumoured approach from Paris Saint-Germain.
      Although Ugarte is said to favour a move to Stamford Bridge over joining PSG, it is unknown what his stance is on United’s interest.
      Erik ten Hag’s side will return to the Champions League next season, with Chelsea absent from Europe altogether.

      BRUNO FERNANDES has urged Goncalo Ramos to join him at Manchester United. Ramos, 21, has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford after bursting onto the International stage at the Qatar World Cup following a hat-trick in the Round of 16.

      The Benfica ace has enjoyed a stellar year at club level too.
      However, Portugal team-mate Fernandes has backed Ramos to thrive in the Premier League, declaring “he has all the qualities” needed to play in England’s top flight.
      Speaking to A Bola, the Red Devils vice-captain said: “The best always come in handy, be it Gonçalo or another player.
      “He has all the qualities to play in the Premier League, and when I say Premier League I also mean Manchester United.

      “I think he could become a great reference in the coming years, but it’s still not in my hands to be sports director… 
      “Gonçalo has all the conditions to play in the Premier League, he is very intense, presses very well and is very good inside the area.”
      Ramos has bagged 27 goals and 12 assists across 47 games for the Eagles this season.
      And a reported move for the striker could see United splash as much as £103million on him (€120m).

      The Red Devils are desperate to land a frontman to support Marcus Rashford and Co, and with Anthony Martial now ruled out of Saturday’s FA Cup final, their need has become more apparent.
      Fernandes, 28, added: “He surprised me in the national team, not only me but the rest of my team-mates. He’s physically strong, he’s still young and he’s going to get better.
      “If he continues to work as he has been doing, I think he has the potential to be one of the best strikers in the world, but he needs to go to a more competitive league to prove it.”
      Ramos has already proved there is life for Portugal after Cristiano Ronaldo, and given Fernandes’ praise, should he land at Old Trafford he may do the same there.
      He is one of six strikers on their shortlist if they cannot sign Harry Kane, according to reports.
      The likes of Victor Osimhen and Randal Kolo Muani are heading this list.
      This being said, United and Kane are desperate to seal a deal.

      SunSport understands Kane wants a switch to Old Trafford or he will run down his deal.
      The latter is more probable and could well see England’s 55-goal record scorer leave on a free.

      Recently Kane, who is 30 in July, has been talking like a man invested in the future of Spurs.
      The Londoners are managerless following Antonio Conte’s sacking in March.
      And their eighth-place finish saw them miss out on Europe for the first time since the 2008-09.
      Kane spoke earlier this month of his willingness to talk to chairman Levy about his plans and how to change Spurs’ culture.
      The striker told Sky Sports: “I always give my all for the team and club.
      “Off the pitch to give my opinion on things I think can help us just be more consistent and more successful in the culture that we try to set.”
      On the topic of Shearer’s record, Kane said earlier this month: “Now I’m this close to it, for sure, it’s something I’d love to achieve.”

      Boss Erik ten Hag warned long-term stopper De Gea this week that he won’t be guaranteed the No1 spot next season, even if he signs a new contract.
      Ten Hag told The Times: “I will not say he’ll always be my No1 because in a club like Man United there must be competition in all positions.
      “You can’t do it with 11 players. It is impossible. You need double positions.
      “If you observe the biggest teams, you have to be capable of playing from the back, and use your keeper as a plus one in your back, otherwise it’s very simple for opponents to put you under pressure.

      “He [De Gea] had to step up. In a number of games, he showed progression.”
      Portuguese publication A Bola reckon Costa is the man earmarked to provide competition for the Spaniard.

      And they say the Red Devils won’t hold back as they considering matching his 65m release clause.
      Costa, 23, appeared to wave goodbye to Porto fans after the club missed out on the Portuguese title to rivals Benfica at the weekend.

      But the Dutch boss bemoaned the tightening of United’s purse strings in interview with Sky Sports this week, after club chiefs failed to spend anything in January when United were seemingly in the title race.
      Bitter rivals Liverpool – who United ultimately pipped to a Champions League spot – beat them to a £37m deal for Cody Gakpo.
      And United instead signed Dutch striker Wout Weghorst and Austrian midfielder Marcel Sabitzer on loan, while releasing Cristiano Ronaldo.

      Ten Hag said: “The club knows that if you want to play top four, if you want to compete for trophies in this tough league, you have to invest, otherwise you won’t progress because other clubs will.
      “We saw it in the winter. All the clubs around us invested. We didn’t and still we made it. So I am really happy and proud of my team.”
      Reacting to Ten Hag’s comments, Jordan said the Old Trafford boss had mismanaged the budget he was given.
      He said: “Okay, Ten Hag. You should have spent £170m in August and £50m in January. Would that have suited you better?

      “He’s spent £220m. What he said was the £220m, thank you I’ll have that, but what have you done for me lately?
      “None of the reasons why I was unsuccessful in January is down to me. I have not made Antony better and he has not delivered outcomes, but I got you to spend £90m on him.”
      The Brazil winger has returned eight goals and three assists in his 44 appearances for Manchester United this season.
      The winger was stretchered off during United’s 2-1 final day victory over Fulham but Ten Hag has said he believes the winger could be fit for Saturday’s Manchester derby in the FA Cup final.

      While Antony’s £90m transfer fee last summer means he has experienced the most scrutiny, the signings of Casemiro, Lisandro Martinez, Christian Eriksen and Tyrell Malacia during the summer proved to be more successful.
