Man Utd fans’ jaws ‘literally dropped’ by Andre Onana passes vs Dortmund but trolls point out how team-mates ruined both

MANCHESTER UNITED fans have said their “jaws literally dropped” after watching Andre Onana’s passes during their friendly against Borussia Dortmund yesterday.United signed Onana for £47million from Inter Milan this month and the keeper has so far played two games for the Red Devils during their pre-season tour of America.

In both, the Cameroon international has exhibited an impressive passing range – which will be key to Erik Ten Hag’s tactical style going forward.
Two clips have circulated from United’s 3-2 defeat to Borussia Dortmund that have excited United fans on Twitter.
The first sees Onana roll the ball under his studs before playing Bruno Fernandes through on goal with a long pass from his own half.
The move was then stopped due to Fernandes being offside.

And the second shows how Onana can pick out his team-mates from an even longer range.
The goalkeeper carries the ball to the edge of his box before pinging the ball perfectly into the direction of Rashford with a drop-kick from the edge of his penalty area.
One fan wrote: “When Onana did this my jaw literally dropped.”
And another replied to the pass saying: “Onana might bag a few assists with Rashford’s pace in behind”

A third excited fan said: “It’s not just that the pass reaches Bruno…it’s the fact it’s in stride…his passing range is probably better than all our players…at par with Bruno”
But some trolls have pointed out that Rashford should have done better with the ball supplied to him by Onana in the 95th minute.
One fan wrote: “ONANA INCREDIBLE PASS BUT RASFORDDDD OH MY LORD.”

Another added: “Phenomenal pass, but Rashford’s attitude here that p***** me off with him so much! He act like he is prime Ronaldo with his body language…. He need to work hard for every ball FFS.”
United fans will be hoping that Onana’s performances will be leading the to better results than in their friendly against Dortmund yesterday.
United lost the bad-tempered game 3-2 with teenage prospect Omari Forson having to be hauled off before half-time to prevent the youngster from getting a red card.
Onana also had a heated exchange with transfer-listed centre-back Harry Maguire after a perceived mistake.
Defender Diogo Dalot and winger Antony were able to get on the score sheet to bag United’s two goals.

Erik ten Hag names three areas he ‘HAD to improve’ to save Man Utd but says one thing Ronaldo hated is ‘absolutely top’

ERIK TEN HAG says Manchester United’s players were simply not looking after themselves properly before his arrival. The Red Devils boss was surprised at how standards had slipped at a club that once dominated the Premier League.
Ronaldo has defended United’s training ground facilities from critics – chief among these being Cristiano RonaldoCredit: AFP
And that was the first thing he had to address as he began to reawaken the footballing giant.
Ten Hag said: “I think in general when I came in at Man United, the standards were not right. That’s true. I demand the highest standards in sleep, recovery and nutrition because that makes the difference if you can perform every third or fourth day.
“That is the demand for every top football player, so at Manchester United we are demanding the highest standards.
“It was about recovery, sleep and nutrition. And we had to improve.”

It is clear that Ten Hag keeps an eye on how the players lead their life off the pitch to make sure they perform well on it.
The demanding boss recently said how Marcus Rashford needed to watch his attitude and lifestyle if he wanted to improve again on his 30 goals last season.
He said: “Everything has to be right. First his basis, foundation, like lifestyle, attitude etc. To give every training his best, but also to work on his game. Work on the way of play for himself but in the team.
“For all the players, you have to live the right life.

“Professional football is tough. Top football is tough nowadays, 60 games a year in club football, 10 international games. 70 games means that every third or fourth day you have to match the highest physical levels. When you’re not living the right life, you get killed.
“So when you ask me about Rashford, the same counts for Rapha Varane and every player. You will not reach the levels when you don’t do the things right.”
While he felt United had let things slip in some areas he clearly disagrees with those who believe the Carrington Training base has fallen behind other big clubs.
The training facilities were notably questioned by Cristiano Ronaldo when he sat down with Piers Morgan to discuss his exit from Manchester United.
Ronaldo claimed Carrington had fallen behind the times and barely changed since he departed in 2009.
He said: “Since Sir Alex left, I saw no evolution in the club. Nothing had changed.
“He [Ferguson] knows better than anybody that the club is not on the path they deserve to be. He knows. Everyone knows.
“The people who don’t see that… it’s because they don’t want to see. They are blind.
Responding to people’s criticisms of Carrington, Ten Hag said: “There are also many conditions that are very well organised at Manchester United but, yes, in certain areas we were short. But in other things, for instance Carrington, is a great facility.

“When you have the opportunity to get around Carrington it’s absolutely top facilities the club constructed. So there are also many things that are very right.”
United’s training ground has gone under a major revamp this summer, with a wellness suite added to the training ground in order to aid player recovery. More

Brutal Ten Hag makes stark admission about Man Utd’s chances of winning the Premier League title this season

ERIK TEN HAG says only Manchester City can talk about title ambitions while the rest aim for the top four. The Manchester United boss guided his side to third last season 14 points behind Pep Guardiola’s men who claimed their fifth title in six years.
Erik Ten Hag says securing top four is the priority before United can start dreaming of winning the leagueCredit: Getty
And asked if the Red Devils could now realistically talk of a title challenge he was as forthright as ever.
Ten Hag said: “I think in pre-season we shouldn’t talk about that – I think no one in the Premier League can do that, maybe City, they can do that because for the last six years they won the title five times.
“So they can talk about that, but any other club must first compete for the first four positions, and make sure you are getting in the first four and then after the first two and then maybe you can see about getting yourself into such a position, but don’t talk about that achievement.”
Ten Hag undoubtedly improved United last season guiding them back into the Champions League as well as winning the clubs first trophy since 2017 with the Carabao Cup.

While they lost to City in the FA Cup Final and by 6-3 at The Etihad they also claimed a 2-1 victory at Old Trafford.
Ten Hag said: “I think we have proven we can beat them but you have to do it every day and in this moment we have a way to go.
“City is also winning their games much more easily than we did so I see the facts.
“But I don’t want to talk about them because it sounds negative and it’s not the way I meant it. I want to talk about our project.

“I want to talk about how we improve and I think the improvements last year and the result were quite obvious, but also in the performance it was quite obvious that we could beat the big opponents, and also City.
“In the three games you saw absolutely that we increased the levels against them.
“We have a competition with seven, eight clubs in the Premier League, across Europe even more teams, so we have to work on our way of play and improve our performance. It has to be optimum.” More

But since all charges were dropped he has been desperate to rebuild his life and wants to resume his footie career at Old Trafford.
A decision on his future at the Red Devils is now said to be imminent with the club set to make an announcement in the next two weeks, according to MailOnline.
A final decision on Greenwood’s future will reportedly be made before United’s opening game of the season against Wolves on August 14.
His three options are staying with the Red Devils, moving to another English club or elsewhere in Europe, perhaps on loan.

Greenwood’s United contract runs until June 2025.
It comes after it was reported that Greenwood is said to be thrilled after Adidas backed his return following “positive” talks with the club.
It is believed other sponsors are set to follow suit.
Adidas are United’s biggest sponsors, with a new £900m extension to their partnership announced today.

“He is grateful to Adidas — to have a sponsor like that in his corner means the world.”
Greenwood remains suspended but a new training regime has been drawn up by United staff and he is being monitored.
Earlier this year, it was revealed Manchester United women’s team did not want him back at the club.

Marcus Rashford opens up on how Erik ten Hag saved his career as England star reveals he came close to quitting Man Utd

MARCUS RASHFORD says Erik ten Hag saved his Manchester United career after he thought about leaving the club. The England striker, 25, enjoyed a personal best 30 goals in all competitions last season with the Red Devils’ new boss.

That came a year after he scored just five in a struggling team under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and then interim coach Ralf Rangnick.
Mega-rich Paris Saint-Germain wanted the hitman — but the proud Manc saw Ten Hag could help him achieve his ambitions at his boyhood club.
Asked if he considered quitting, Rashford said: “Before the manager came maybe a bit. He came at the right time for me.
“He is ambitious. I didn’t have a doubt in my mind about that.”

Just 12 months on, Rashford is happy again and fresh off signing a new five-year deal with the club.
And he admits it was boss Ten Hag who convinced him to stay this summer and lead the drive for more trophies — and to join Manchester City and Arsenal in the title race.
Rashford, 25, added: “I enjoy scoring goals, I enjoy making assists, playing in the forward areas and trying to cause a threat to the other team.
“I felt just a little bit more freedom.

“A little bit more stability gives you the baseline to try and showcase your abilities.
“We were just a little bit rigid in the past, sometimes you’re not enjoying your football.
“And that was the case with me. I wasn’t enjoying my football as much as I should be, as much I was used to enjoying it.
“Because of that, it influenced my performance and ultimately that’s how I am as a person — if I’m not happy then it’s difficult for me to play my best football.”
Ten Hag has meticulously designed the training schedule for the pre-season tour here in the United States.
There is a club chef travelling with the team to make sure they eat right and no phones are allowed as players, coaches and staff dine together.
Stars get messages to tell them what kit to wear the next day and Ten Hag has even been involved in picking hotels for the squad.
“If I’m not happy then it’s difficult for me to play my best football.”Marcus Rashford
Rashford said: “He always wants you to improve, whether it’s physically or mentally.
“For us as players, it’s important he works on both sides with us and if  he sees an obvious place to make improvement then he doesn’t shy away from telling it.
“I’m hungry to keep improving and the players and staff keep improving and pushing ourselves to be better than we were the year before.
“Ultimately that’s the only way we’re going to get back to winning trophies consistently.”
Rashford added to his 30 club goals last season with three during the World Cup for England — and now he wants to take things to another level.
He said: “It’s always the purpose of your career, you want to keep improving, sometimes it’s not always statistically but if you can improve your performance you will take it any way you can.

“You have to be consistent with it. It’s important I get consistent opportunities, it’s up to me to take it on. I have to keep getting in the right areas and hopefully the goals keep coming.”
Dutchman Ten Hag was always convinced he could get the best out of Rashford but insisted the player needed to have the ‘right attitude’ and be fully switched on from the first moment of games to the last.
Rashford said: “It’s concentration. If I’ve got the concentration, sometimes you might not have a chance all game and you get that one chance and you have to take it.
“If I can stay focused on that, then I think I can definitely score more goals than I did last season. But I have to be in the goalscoring positions to get the chances, that’s the main focus.”
For a United fan, it was tough for Rashford to see City win the Treble  but he does not believe that 15-point gap they had on them last season in the Prem should be insurmountable as the Red Devils search for a first title since 2013.
“You’re looking at a 15-point gap to the top of the league We can easily pick off five games where we dropped three points, it’s about correcting the mistakes.”Marcus Rashford, on catching Man City
He said: “I think consistency is the key. We’ve shown in one-off games we can beat them, they’ve shown they can beat us. It’s the consistency that sets them apart.
“I think the average points to win the league at the minute is 96. It’s a huge difference to what it was a few years ago, when 86 to 90 points could potentially win you the league.
“They’ve shown a new level of consistency and it’s up to the rest of us to  close that gap.
“You’re looking at a 15-point gap to the top of the league We can easily pick off five games where we dropped three points, it’s about correcting the mistakes.”
And for homegrown hero Rashford, that feeling of  scoring for Manchester United again next season is something he cannot wait for.
    Read More on The Sun
He said: “I don’t think the feeling ever gets old. You just want it more and more each time you score. It doesn’t get boring.”
It is fair to say football is making Rashford happy again. More

Sky Sports News presenter Marc McAdam tweeted that Hojlund: “went to a number of the Atalanta players on the pitch to shake hands; looked like he was saying his goodbyes.”
He then added: “Only a matter of time before United agree a deal for the striker now…”
Atalanta have received bids from both PSG and United over the past week, worth £42million and £51m respectively.
Hojlund’s preference is to join United and the forward has reportedly already agreed personal terms with the Red Devils.

Atalanta were originally holding out for a club record fee for the striker – valuing him at £68m.
But after it became clear that he wanted to leave, and both PSG and United appeared unwilling to meet Atalanta’s asking price, the Italians have sought a quick resolution to the saga.
United are desperate to sign a new No9 – with injury-prone Anthony Martial the only striker currently available in their squad.
Erik Ten Hag grew tired of the Frenchman’s injury struggles and made Hojlund his top priority signing after it became clear United would not have the capacity to sign Harry Kane.

Old Trafford bosses are set to decide “in weeks” on the future of the England striker after charges including attempted rape were dropped.
The player is already back training with Man United’s blessing.

An assurance from Adidas is likely to see other sponsors follow suit.
The new season starts on August 12 and The Sun understands most team-mates would welcome him back if the club agrees.
A source said: “The initial signals from Adidas are positive. Without their blessing it would be hard to see a way back. But they have communicated his return would not necessarily be an insurmountable obstacle.
“They have certainly given the impression they would not be fiercely opposed to it.”

United and Adidas signed a ten-year deal, said to be worth £750million, in 2015.
Recently Greenwood, 21, and partner Harriet Robson welcomed a baby girl.
This week they were seen in Hale, Gtr Manchester.
He has been suspended on full pay — said to be £75,000-a-week — since January 2022, and lost a lucrative deal with Nike.
It followed his arrest for attempted rape, assault and controlling behaviour.
Greenwood was charged in October. Prosecutors dropped the charges in February.
The source added: “No decision has been made yet but every option is being explored. It’s an unpredictable situation and public opinion will play a part.
“It won’t be easy if he does return but sponsors won’t necessarily walk out of the door overnight.
“He trains alone but the club is keeping in touch. He wants to stay.”
In February it was reported that United women’s team do not want him back, a view echoed by Natalie Burrell, founder of United Women’s Supporters’ Club.
