Mystery team behind Mason Greenwood’s football comeback revealed as Man Utd striker seen training in park

MASON Greenwood ‘s mystery trainer has been revealed as a professional football coach specialising in goal scoring. The Man Utd striker, 21, was yesterday spotted practising shooting in a private session as he plots his comeback.
Mason Greenwood took part in a private training session overseen by a personal trainer
Greenwood hasn’t touched a ball for the team since he was arrested for attempted rape, assault and coercive control last January.
The charges against him were dropped in February but the footballer remains suspended by Utd.
As a result, he has taken to practising his skills at public training grounds as opposed to the team’s base at Carrington.
It can now be revealed the star was joined in training by Ben Mangan, who describes himself as an “individual professional football coach”.
    Read more on Greenwood
Mangan counts Greenwood’s ex-teammate Anthony Elanga among his clients, as well as Utd youngster Kobbie Mainoo.
The coach, who has also shared a picture of Greenwood on his site, offers both individual training in 75 minute sessions and partner or group training.
He claims to be a specialist in attacking and goal scoring and charges between £105 and £150 per session.
Greenwood was also joined by his dad and manager Andrew, who instructed the striker as he ran through shooting drills.

Andrew was seen holding his baby granddaughter, who Greenwood’s partner Harriet Robson gave birth to last month.
It is understood Utd have drawn up the striker’s training programmes and are monitoring his progress.
But while he is suspended, Greenwood is instead being put through his paces by personal coaches rather than the team’s own staff.
He was previously seen training with Elanga and Irish star James Abankwah, 19, who plays for Italian side Udinese.
The trio posed up for a picture together after the session in Dubai last month.
Greenwood has remained “in limbo” about his future at Utd after chiefs launched their own five-month probe into the claims.
No decision has been revealed on whether or not the star striker will return – even though the new season is just days away.
Manager Erik ten Hag and the majority of the first team have suggested they were open to the idea of bringing the Greenwood back.
But United’s women’s team were understood to have reservations, while sponsors were left concerned about being linked to the footballer.
Greenwood joined Utd aged just six and rose through the ranks to land himself a regular spot on the first team.
In 2019, he became the youngest footballer to play for United in the Champions League when he took to the pitch aged 17.

West Ham AGREE £30m transfer fee with Man Utd for Harry Maguire as England star to end Old Trafford hell

WEST HAM have agreed a £30million transfer fee for Harry Maguire. The Hammers have chased the England defender all summer after Maguire was stripped of the Manchester United captaincy.

He has been deemed surplus to requirements by Old Trafford boss Erik ten Hag.
Chelsea and Tottenham have been linked with Maguire but West Ham were always frontrunners for the centre-half.
And according to Sky Sports, they have an agreement in principle with United in a deal worth in the region of £30m.
It is added that personal terms will not be an issue despite Maguire’s reported wages of around £190,000 per week.
As revealed by SunSport, David Moyes was left confident Maguire wanted a move to the London Stadium.
Monday night saw West Ham make a huge move in the transfer market, submitting a joint £60m bid for Maguire, 30, and Scott McTominay, 26.
The £30m offer for McTominay was rejected out of hand, with United demanding £45m.
But they were considering the £30m bid for Maguire, which is near their valuation of £35m.

SunSport understands that Maguire has spoken with Moyes on several occasions over the phone in the past few days.
Moyes – who is still looking to make his first signing of the summer – has been selling the idea of West Ham to Maguire, who he views as a future captain of the club.
The defender is desperate for regular first team football ahead of next summer’s Euros with England, and would get that at West Ham having fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford.
A wage rise for Maguire was activated at the end of last season following United’s top four finish, seeing him earn close to £200k-a-week.
West Ham would not be expected to pay that in full, with United potentially bridging the gap due to the amount still owed to him on his contract that still has two years left, with the option of a further year.
The Hammers have also seen City express an interest in Lucas Paqueta. More

The Wales Under-21 star lit up his second game after switching from Old Trafford to the League One newcomers with a free-kick rocket.
Championship side Millwall even put up a wall of seven men – well, four players together, a small gap, then three more team-mates linking arms.
But Leicester-born Savage, 20, whipped a left-footer over them and into the near top corner, killing off the contest at 3-0.
Away fans rushed down the terraces to celebrate – but if anything they enjoyed what came next more.

He even joined supporters in tweeting a clip of his goal.

One Royals’ follower responded: “Kissing the badge already 🙂 @charliesavage84. Legend in the making?”
“What a feeling!” said another, and “Take a bow,” suggested a third.
Other responses included: “Big up Charlie” and “Happy for the lad”.
And there was no way the goal itself would be lost on admiring viewers.
Verdicts full of awe came in, such as: “That’s Savage from Charlie!” and “That cultured left foot”.
And having also shone in an opening-day 1-0 loss to Peterborough, Savage might so far be happy at departing Old Trafford for regular football.

He was pictured with a ball as his dad Andrew, 53, cradled the player’s newborn daughter.
Greenwood followed drills drawn up for him by United coaches overseeing his progress.
The £75,000-a-week England ace has not played or trained with teammates since his arrest last January.
But top-level discussions at Old Trafford are close to conclusion.

Greenwood has the backing of players and manager Erik ten Hag after charges including attempted rape were dropped.
A source said: “Mason is working harder than ever on the training pitch.
“He’s desperate to return to the side as soon as possible and wants to put the last 18 months behind him.
“Talks about his future are in the final phase and the players and the manager are behind him.

“The only thing that remains to be decided is whether he returns to first-team action or goes out on a season-long loan.”
United bosses are keen to announce a decision ahead of their first Prem game of the season on Monday against Wolves.
After becoming a dad last month with partner Harriet Robson, Greenwood is reluctant to relocate.
Another source said: “There’s talk of buddying him up with teammates so he has a support network around him.
“They want to ease him back gently and don’t want him isolated.”
Fans with shirts bearing his name could swap them for free after his arrest while Nike ended a lucrative deal with him. But the CPS dropped charges in February.

Marcus Rashford’s dream of leading Man Utd to first Premier League title since 2013 at risk due to BURNOUT says PFA boss

MARCUS RASHFORD’S hopes of leading Manchester United back to the glory era craved by the Old Trafford fans is ALREADY under threat – because he could be on the way to burn-out.That was the stark warning from PFA chief executive Maheta Molongo, who says football’s rulers MUST listen to the concerns of Rashford’s club-mate Raphael Varane.
Players like Marcus Rashford are at risk of burnout claims PFA chief Maheta MolongoCredit: Getty
Raphael Varane spoke out against football chiefs following rule changes that will see more minutes added to matchesCredit: Getty
The central defender turned his back on international football at the age of just 30 because of the sheer demands of playing for club and country.
Varane’s plea to the authorities to start listening to the players rather than dream up laws and more competitions and impose their ideas was the start of a dressing room backlash.
Prem games are almost certain routinely to extend beyond the 100-minute mark after the International FA Board agreed to roll out 2022 World Cup-style timekeeping globally.
And Molonga pointed to United golden boy Rashford as a potential victim of football’s apparent refusal to even recognise that the stars of the show are the most vulnerable by the demands for more, more, more.
    READ MORE IN FOOTBALL
Molonga said: “If we are adding these extra minutes to every match, then by Christmas you have played five more games on top of the 70 you already play.
“The data shows that it’s not just perception – it is facts.
“Marcus Rashford has played twice as many minutes as Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard at the same age.
“It’s not that we’re speculating, it’s a fact. It’s our role to see the bigger picture.

“Yes, it’s very nice in the short term.
“But I want to see Rashford run with the ball for 10 years, 15 years. Not doing it for just six or seven.”
The PFA boss hinted that, unless the players are properly consulted, they may start taking action.
Whether that is strike action is less clear, but Molonga added: “It’s not us as a union saying do this or that. The players themselves are saying ‘let’s do something’.
“We are not just talking about Raphael Varane. It’s a lot of players. And even the managers will tell you the same.
“Varane has decided to stop playing for the national team. This would never have happened 20 years ago, with someone who would have been the next captain of France, who has said ‘I’m not going to play’.
“People then say ‘let’s talk about the sleeping pills the players take’ but this is a result of that.
“If I play an international game on the Thursday in Bolivia and then I play at Birmingham on Saturday, how do I do that?
“I need to travel for 24 hours, get some sleep somehow and then play on the Saturday.
“If I do that in the executive lounge I’m knackered. Imagine if you have to turn up and play 90 minutes.
“Time wasting and certain other behaviour had to be dealt with and the players are conscious of that.
“But maybe not this way. Let’s not talk about just time wasting but the bigger, wider context.
“I don’t think a measure that was applied for a tournament that lasts for a month cannot just be extrapolated immediately to an entire season.
“We need to reflect on how we got to this point and ask if we have taken the appropriate steps to ensure that we didn’t get here?
    Read More on The Sun
“That’s why we said we need to have these discussions with the authorities.
“Hopefully, then, you can draw positive lessons to the importance of involving people out there on the ground day to day and who are suffering themselves before you make a decision.” More

Maguire is desperate for regular first team football ahead of next summer’s Euros with England, and would get that at West Ham having fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford.
United manager Erik ten Hag recently stripped Maguire of the captaincy, and despite wanting him to be part of his squad, will allow him to leave for the right price.
A wage rise for Maguire was activated at the end of last season following United’s top four finish, seeing him earn close to £200k-a-week.

Moyes is desperate to get Maguire over the line. The Scot is targeting British players to bolster his squad, as well as needing cover at centre back for injury-hit Kurt Zouma.
But West Ham have been slow out of the blocks this summer, with tension between Moyes and new technical director Tim Steidten evident in their recruitment process so far.
Bids for Southampton’s James Ward-Prowse, Fulham’s Joao Palhinha and Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher have been turned down, with West Ham struggling to put the £105m from Declan Rice’s move to Arsenal to good use.
However, this week could see that change. Ajax midfielder and Mexico international Edson Alvarez is expected to sign for £35m on a five-year deal after landing in London to undergo his medical today.
West Ham want another midfielder. They are unlikely to hit the valuation for McTominay, but could still go back in for Saints skipper Ward-Prowse with an offer closer to £40m after their previous attempt of £30m was rejected.
A striker is also on Moyes’ wish list after Gianluca Scamacca’s £27m departure to Atalanta – despite spending just over 12 months in East London. More

Mason Greenwood watched over by his dad holding footballer’s baby girl during training session amid decision on future

MASON Greenwood was watched over by his dad and baby girl as he trained ahead of Manchester United’s imminent decision on his future. The 21-year-old striker, who became a father last month, was seen practising shooting while his dad cradled the newborn.

The 21-year-old striker was seen dribbling with the ball
It is the first time the baby has been seen since he was born last month
The striker has not played for Manchester United since he was arrested in January last year.
He was later charged with attempted rape, assault and controlling and coercive behaviour, before the charges were dropped in February.
Since then, Greenwood has been desperate to rebuild his life and wants to resume his footie career at Old Trafford.
Utd have been conducting their own investigation into the allegations and are expected to soon make a decision on his future.
On Tuesday, Greenwood looked relaxed as he was snapped training on a public pitch.
His father and coach, Andrew Greenwood, instructed the striker as he ran through shooting drills with pals.
Andrew was seen holding his granddaughter, who was born on July 11 to Greenwood’s university student girlfriend Harriet Robson.
The footballer announced the birth on his Instagram account, posting a picture of the tiny baby’s hand in his own.

It comes as Manager Erik ten Hag and the majority of the first team have suggested they were open to the idea of bringing the Greenwood back.
But United’s women’s team were understood to have reservations, while sponsors were left concerned about being linked to the footballer.
A source said previously: “All the players believe he deserves a second chance because he’s innocent in the eyes of the law.
“He didn’t have the opportunity to clear his name in court because the charges were dropped, so the players feel like he has been left in limbo.
“They know it will be difficult but they are willing to support him through it, and protect him.
“Some of the younger players came through the academy with him so there’s a loyalty to him.
“They know he’s made mistakes but the lads who’ve spoken to him say he’s grown up a lot in the past 18 months and will come back a lot wiser.”
It is not the first time Greenwood has been spotted training outside of Carrington.
In June he worked on his close control and shooting in a 90-minute session on an £85-an-hour pitch.
It was the first time he had been pictured at a training session since his arrest.
He had grown his hair since he was last pictured — and was not wearing Nike boots after the firm ended their sponsorship deal.
Greenwood joined Utd aged just six and rose through the ranks to land himself a regular spot on the first team.

He says he was filming at a “publicly accessible venue with no security” and “away from Manchester United”.
But the filmmaker claims he was approached by a “thug” from Greenwood’s entourage who said: “If you weren’t surrounded by witnesses we would rip that camera out of your hand and destroy your equipment.”
