It’s reported that the 28-year-old has suffered a muscular injury.

In a statement, Manchester United confirmed that he would miss “a number of weeks”.
Shaw has started both of Manchester United’s matches so far this season.

The Red Devils have looked lacklustre in a 1-0 win over Wolves and then a 2-0 defeat to Tottenham – and this news will not improve matters.
Ten Hag is currently preparing his side to face Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
They then play Arsenal before the Premier League pauses for an international break.
Shaw could have expected to be a part of Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the games against Ukraine and Scotland.

The former Southampton youngster has been blighted with injuries during his career, although last term he missed just three games because of injury.
In 2021/22 he missed 18 games because of multiple issues, and missed the same number of matches the year before that.
Manchester United allowed one of Shaw’s understudies, Brandon Williams, to go on loan to Ipswich earlier this week.
The news comes in the same week that Mason Mount also suffered an injury.
The summer signing is out until at least the international break, and potentially longer.
In more positive news, fellow new arrival Rasmus Hojlund could make his debut this weekend having arrived at the club injured. More

Now ANOTHER foreign team is interested in signing Mason Greenwood after player was dumped by Man Utd

ANOTHER foreign team is showing interest in offering Manchester United exile Mason Greenwood an escape after being dumped.A potential new move abroad is being lined up for the former England striker after the decision to let him leave Old Trafford.
Mason Greenwood reportedly has a new transfer option overseas in EuropeCredit: PA
Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has rejected talk of a move to his Saudi Arabian club Al-Ettifaq.
And ex-Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has ruled out a reunion with him at Serie A side AS Roma in Italy.
Yet Greenwood could be welcome at a new club abroad – but in the relative footballing backwater of Albania, talkSport reports.
An unnamed side in the Balkan Peninsula nation are said to have expressed interest in the 21-year-old striker.

Albania’s international team first qualified for a major tournament when reaching the 2016 UEFA European Championship in France.
Greenwood has been absent from Premier League club United’s first team since being arrested on suspicion of attempted rape, assault and coercive control in January last year.
All charges against him were dropped in February but he has remained suspended by the Red Devils.
An announcement by United on Monday revealed Greenwood would be leaving the club in what they called a “collaborative decision”.
    Most read in Football
Yet it remained unclear whether his £75,000-a-week contract would be terminated or if he would be sold or sent out on loan.
The player issued a statement admitting he’d “made mistakes”.
United risk losing millions if Greenwood doesn’t find a move elsewhere before the transfer window closes this time next week.
If he remains on their books they club could have to pay him a hefty fee to cancel his contract which is only due to expire in 2025.
Yet they could be reprieved if a Saudi club opts for the player because their league’s window extends until September 20.
New recruits to the Saudi league include Greenwood’s ex-United colleague Cristiano Ronaldo, Brazilian striker Neymar from Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid’s France forward Karim Benzema.

    AL-ETTIFAQ MOVE ‘FAKE NEWS’
Al-Ettifaq swooped for England vice-captain and midfielder Jordan Henderson, joining from Liverpool for wages of £700,000 per week.
Yet former Three Lions skipper Gerrard, who took over at Al-Ettifaq last month, posted an Instagram story on Tuesday dismissing speculation about a move for Greenwood “fake news”.
Other clubs linked with the player have included Galatasaray and Istanbul Basaksehir in Turkey.
United’s decision to go separate ways with Greenwood was welcomed by former England and United right-back Gary Neville.
Yet the club’s handling of situation was also labelled “horrible” by the ex-defender who now works as a Sky Sports pundit.
Greenwood’s Old Trafford exit was described as “inevitable and right” by the BBC’s Match Of The Day presenter and ex-England captain Gary Lineker.
But football clubs more widely were urged by women’s charities to do better when dealing with such allegations.
Lifelong United fan Rachel Riley last week said she would no longer support United if they let Greenwood come back.
The Channel 4’s Countdown co-host and Strictly Come Dancing contestant later welcomed his departure but accused United of having “handled this appallingly”.
Greenwood’s last United appearance was in a 1-0 Premier League win against West Ham United on January 22 last year.
He was charged in October last year by the Crown Prosecution Service and was due to go on trial this November.
But the case was withdrawn on February 2 after his alleged victim as well as 12 further witnesses declined to co-operate.

Man Utd looking to hijack Roma’s move for Santos striker Marcos Leonardo after switching transfer strategy

The Red Devils have long been linked with a move for midfielder Sofyan Amrabat from Fiorentina.
But now priorities have shifted towards finding a new striker to replace Greenwood.
Club chiefs decided to let Greenwood continue his career elsewhere, following an investigation into his behaviour after his January 2022 arrest.
And it looks like Erik ten Hag’s side have now identified Marcos Leonardo as an ideal replacement.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Manchester United are planning to swoop in and steal Leonardo from Roma.
The talented attacker was recently in talks to join the Serie A club on a permanent deal from Santos.
However, the Brazilian side opposed the transfer as they battle to avoid relegation.
But Roma – who are managed by former United boss Jose Mourinho – have been working on an agreement for Leonardo’s move to become official in January 2024.

At just 20 years old, Leonardo is already approaching 50 senior goals for Santos. He also has 15 goals in just 13 games for Brazil U20s.
The report claims the Red Devils are ready to submit a higher bid than Roma’s, made up of a £17m fixed fee plus £4.2m in add-ons.

However, United also need to raise funds to meet Financial Fair Play regulations having spent almost £370m under Ten Hag.
United have been heavily linked with a move for Amrabat since last year’s World Cup.
The midfielder impressed as one of Morocco’s key man during their historic run to the semi-finals.
But talks stalled due to United’s need to sell players in order to fund the deal. More

But when news of that prospect leaked out, the backlash forced a U-turn from the club.
On Monday, they announced it was best for all parties that Greenwood continued his career away from Old Trafford.
So Ten Hag gathered his squad together yesterday to explain the reasons behind the decision.
The Dutchman also welcomed any feedback from the players.

Greenwood and United chief executive Richard Arnold agreed his presence would provide an unwanted distraction.
The striker has been suspended by the club since he was arrested in January 2022.
Charges against him of attempted rape, assault and coercive control were dropped in February this year.
The Red Devils completed their own internal investigation, which concluded Greenwood had not committed any of the crimes he was initially charged with.

But the stench of the case would not go away and United found the position untenable.
Greenwood has been left disappointed by the change in stance having been training in preparation for his return.
And the new dad is now in limbo as he does not fancy a move abroad — but so far there has been no interest from any clubs in England.
The situation is one the new owners will have to resolve, with Sheikh Jassim’s takeover growing ever closer.
A £6billion bid from the Qatari banker is about to be accepted by the Glazer family.
An announcement is expected next month ahead of a full takeover in mid-to-late October. More

There has also been talk of a reunion with former United boss Mourinho, now in charge of Italy’s Serie A side AS Roma.
Yet Gerrard has moved to deny any interest in the player after yesterday’s announcement Greenwood would be leaving Old Trafford.
It comes amid suggestions the player is “too toxic” even for Saudi Arabia, The Telegraph reports.
Gerrard, who took over at Al-Ettifaq last month, posted an Instagram story branding reports of a Greenwood move “fake news”.

And Italian outlet Il Tempo, via Roma Press, says Mourinho and Roma have no interest in being associated with Greenwood.
Saudi clubs were said to be considering signing Greenwood but now others as well as Al-Ettifaq are reportedly backing away.

United announced yesterday a “collaborative decision” with Greenwood that he would depart.
They did not say whether his £75,000-a-week contract would be terminated or whether he would be sold or loaned out.
Greenwood issued a statement saying he had “made mistakes”.
United now face a scramble to get rid of Greenwood by the end of this month or face losing millions.
Football’s summer transfer window closes on September 1 – and if no one has signed him by then, United could have to pay Greenwood millions to cancel his contract which is due to expire in 2025.
Yet they could go beyond the deadline if a Saudi club goes for Greenwood because their window runs until September 20.
Recent Saudi league recruits include ex-United colleague Cristiano Ronaldo, France striker Karim Benzema from Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain’s Brazilian forward Neymar.
Al-Ettifaq have swooped this summer for England midfielder Jordan Henderson from Liverpool, now being paid £700,000 per week.
Greenwood has also been linked with a move to some of Turkey’s leading clubs including Galatasaray and Istanbul Basaksehir.
Among those welcoming the decision by United to cut ties with Greenwood have been ex-England and United defender Gary Neville.
But the Sky Sports pundit also called the club’s handling “horrible”.
The BBC’s Match Of The Day presenter and ex-England captain Gary Lineker described Greenwood’s exit as an “inevitable and right” end to an “untenable situation”.
Meanwhile, women’s charities urged football clubs to be better at dealing with similar situations.
Channel 4’s Countdown co-host and Strictly Come Dancing star Rachel Riley last week threatened to stop supporting United if Greenwood was allowed to return.
The lifelong Red Devils fan today welcomed his exit but said the club had “handled this appallingly”.
Greenwood’s last game for the Red Devils came on January 22, 2022, in a 1-0 Premier League victory over West Ham United.
The Crown Prosecution Service charged him in October last year and he was scheduled to go on trial this November.

I’ve been a Man Utd fan since before I was born – club handled Mason Greenwood decision horrendously, Rachel Riley says

LIFELONG Man Utd fan Rachel Riley has accused the club of handling the Mason Greenwood saga “appallingly”.The Countdown host and lifelong Red Devils supporter hit out at the club in a lengthy tweet today.
Rachel Riley has opened up about Man Utd’s decision to axe Mason Greenwood
Rachel shared her feelings alongside two pictures on her TwitterCredit: X
Rachel slammed the team’s handling over the decision to axe Greenwood following his arrest for assault, attempted rape and coercive control.
The Crown Prosecution Service chose not to proceed with the case against him but the club carried out their own probe into the claims.
Rachel shared two images – one of her as a baby with a Utd teddy and a second with her two children wearing official kits.
She said the decision to get rid of Greenwood was “right” but the statement released was “horrendous”.

Rachel added: “I’ve been a red since before I was born, I’ve passed it on to my baby girls and some of the all time best times of my life have been working with, and cheering on Man United, so I write with such a heavy heart – as a club we’ve handled this appallingly.”
The TV star has been vocal of the Greenwood situation and threatened to pull her support for Utd if they backed him.
She yesterday praised a “great statement” released by Women’s Aid after the club revealed their decision.
The announcement brings an end to a 19-month saga for Utd after Greenwood’s arrest last January.

He was at the centre of a five month investigation by bosses despite the charges already being dropped against him in February.
The team said Greenwood “did not commit the offences in respect of which he was originally charged” after carrying out a probe.
They added they had taken into account the “wishes, rights and perspective of the alleged victim along with the club’s standards and values, and sought to collate as much information and context as possible”.
Utd confirmed they examined evidence that was “not in the public domain”, including “from those with direct knowledge of the case”.
The club added: “Based on the evidence available to us, we have concluded that the material posted online did not provide a full picture and that Mason did not commit the offences in respect of which he was originally charged.
“That said, as Mason publicly acknowledges today, he has made mistakes which he is taking responsibility for.
“All those involved, including Mason, recognise the difficulties with him recommencing his career at Manchester United.
“It has therefore been mutually agreed that it would be most appropriate for him to do so away from Old Trafford, and we will now work with Mason to achieve that outcome.”
Greenwood also released a statement where he insisted he had not done what he was accused of but was “learning to understand my responsibilities as a professional footballer”.
He added: “I want to start by saying I understand that people will judge me because of what they have seen and heard on social media, and I know people will think the worst.
“I was brought up to know that violence or abuse is wrong, I did not do the things I was accused of, and in February I was cleared of all charges.
“However, I fully accept I made mistakes, and I take my share of responsibility for the situations which led to the social media post.
“Today’s decision has been part of a collaborative process between Manchester United, my family and me.
“The best decision for us all, is for me to continue my football career away from Old Trafford, where my presence will not be a distraction for the club.
“I thank the club for their support since I joined aged seven. There will always be a part of me which is United. I am enormously grateful to my family and all my loved ones for their support, and it is now for me to repay the trust those around me have shown.
