The Red Devils confirmed last month he would not play for the club again after a six-month internal investigation into rape and assault charges that were dropped.

A source said: “He wants to prove he can handle the pressure and hasn’t given up hope of one day playing for United again.
“He wants to repay the faith the club was willing to show in him before the backlash over his possible return.

Todd Boehly stumped up a staggering £434million to bring in 12 new first-team stars.
A quarter of that went on Caicedo alone, with the Blues paying Brighton a new British transfer record fee of £115m including add-ons for the Ecuadorian midfielder.
That sees him walk into the midfielder, where he partners Arsenal’s new £105m man Declan Rice.
Mason Mount (£60m) and Dominik Szoboszlai (£60m) join forces just in front – despite signing for rivals Manchester United and Liverpool this summer.

Overseas, Jude Bellingham’s £115m switch from Borussia Dortmund to Real Madrid was the biggest deal, closely followed by Harry Kane leaving Tottenham to sign for Bayern Munich in a £104m move.

Lazio reveal reason Mason Greenwood deal fell through ‘at last minute’ – blaming Man Utd for failed loan offer

LAZIO have revealed the real reason their Mason Greenwood deal fell through at the last minute.Yesterday it was revealed that the striker, 21, had been thrown a last-ditch lifeline by top European club Lazio.

La Liga club Getafe completed a last-minute loan deal for the striker
However, Greenwood then signed with Spain’s Getafe on loan just minutes before the transfer window closed.
Greenwood, who was tipped to be the next big thing by Sir Alex Ferguson, has not played competitive football since January last year.
He was arrested and charged with attempted rape, controlling and coercive behaviour and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, before the case was dropped by the CPS in February.
Greenwood had hoped for a return to United but was axed earlier this month following mounting pressure from fans.
Now Lazio have claimed that Manchester United are to blame for them missing out on Greenwood.
Lazio’s president, Claudio Lotito, claims he was keen to join the Serie A club but United did not sign the paperwork in time.
Lotito told La Lazio Siamo Noi: “I tried until the last minute”.
Greenwood “mutually agreed” to leave United on August 21 following backlash over his potential return to the squad after his arrest for attempted rape and sexual assault.

He was charged in October last year but all charges were dropped in February by the Crown Prosecution Service.
Greenwood has not kicked a ball for Utd since January 2022 when he was suspended and it was decided this month that it would be best for all if his future was away from Old Trafford.
Following Greenwood’s recent signing for Madrid-based club Getafe, United said in a statement: “Mason Greenwood has signed for La Liga side Getafe CF on a season-long loan, subject to international clearance.
“The move enables Greenwood to begin to rebuild his career away from Manchester United.
“The club will continue to offer its support to Mason and his family during this period of transition.”
Getafe announced the move with a video of fans wildly celebrating outside the club’s Coliseum Alfonso Perez stadium.
They began jumping and chanting when the deal was confirmed.
Greenwood’s last match for United was in the 1-0 Premier League win over West Ham on January 22 last year.  More

The dad-of-one has marked the fresh start by removing United from his bio on Instagram.
A source told The Sun: “Mason wants to make a new beginning. He’s looking forward to rebuilding his career and moving forward.
“It’s a big change as he’s been with United since he was just seven years old.”
In February, Greenwood made significant changes to his account when he removed his profile picture and deleted more than 180 posts.

He kept Nike in his bio despite the sports giant dropping his sponsorship deal in February – but this has now also been removed.
It was understood a clause in his endorsement deal meant Nike were able to sever all ties in February without paying him any compensation whatsoever due to reputational damage and loss of commercial value.
He does however still follow the club on the app.
Greenwood was arrested on January 30 last year and suspended on full pay – pocketing £75,000-a-week – by Manchester United a short time later after videos and images were posted online.
They later axed him from the club after conducting their own investigation.
