One wrote on social media: “Someone needs to take the cheque book off Erik.”
While a second fumed: “These are signings should have made in the previous decade.”
A third blasted: “In a team that has no physicality or energy, Erik wanted to sign a player who’s legs have gone? Luckily transfers wont be in his hands soon.”
Another added: “Just need to purchase a good walking stick.”

The now 53-year-old sported a set of brown floppy hair as he sat between the sticks for the Red Devils.
But now Reggina’s former sporting director has traded his famous locks for a shaven cut his 6ft 3in frame has broadened.

The shot stopper put together a Man of the Match display on his debut against Liverpool at Anfield where United won 3-2.

The keeper than started in a 1-1 draw against Wimbledon and then committed one of the most infamous howlers in Premier League history, which led to a swift exit.
That took place during a 3-3 draw with Southampton when a long-range shot from Matt Le Tissier went straight at the Italian who dropped to the ground to scoop the ball but it rolled underneath his body.
His final appearance took place soon after in a 5-0 loss at Chelsea and that led to his departure in January 2000 as he joined Reggina.
Have you figured the mystery man yet…?

But it’s of course none other than Massimo Taibi himself!
Taibi went on to have quite a nomadic career playing for four different Italian clubs.
His gaffe at Southampton is still remembered, but he insists it was an honest mistake.
Taibi previously said: “It was just one of those things which happen to goalkeepers. I’ve seen plenty in England and Italy, believe me.

“Going through the legs, it looks ridiculous, but it happens often. It’s not the first, it wasn’t the last.
“I had a similar incident like that at Torino. It happens. It’s an accident, not an error.
“An error is to come out for the ball and miss it but an innocuous shot which goes through your legs is just a total accident.
“Unfortunately, the week after, we went to Chelsea and lost 5-0 and as I couldn’t play in the Champions League having already been registered with [AC] Milan.
“Ferguson decided, rightly, to sit me out for a little, to give me time to learn the language.” More

Nike sponsored the ex-England star before cancelling his contract in 2022 after he was arrested by cops.
However, all charges – which Greenwood has always denied – were dropped in February 2023 by the Crown Prosecution Service.
Greenwood has not signed a new contract with any boot maker since Nike cut him loose.
But has now shared a post on Instagram of him wearing Nike Air Max 97s.

Greenwood also sparked speculation after uploading a picture featuring a number of different coloured Nike shoes in a bag.
Players without boot sponsors often play in blackout boots with no logo.
This could be because they are not endorsing a specific brand and do not want to be associated with a company until they get paid.
Others, such as Vinicius Jr, have also worn blackout boots in protest before.

But Greenwood has continued to sport the prominent Nike “swoosh” logo despite his axing.
The striker has also been spotted wearing old Nike Mercurial Superfly 4 boots this year.
In February, the sportswear company confirmed that Mason Greenwood is no longer associated with them.
This was despite the ex-Prem ace updating a social media page to include a link to them.
Greenwood “mutually agreed” to leave United on August 21 following a probe into his January 2022 arrest.
The forward was provided with a pathway back to football by La Liga side Getafe.
The Spanish club announced the deal just minutes before the summer transfer window deadline arrived on Friday.
Greenwood has bagged three goals and two assists in nine games, settling into the Spanish way of life with his partner and baby daughter.
United will receive no loan fee and will cover the majority of his £75,000-a-week wage during his time in Spain.
Greenwood still has two years left to run with the option of a further 12 months had the club wanted to take it up.
Failing to offload him would have left the club facing a payment of nearly £8million.

Onana went off with a groin problem against Mauritius last Friday and was withdrawn from the squad to face Libya on Tuesday night.
United have been plagued by fitness problems this season.

Turkey ace Bayindir cost £4.3million from Fenerbahce in the summer.

Man Utd horror stats are misleading… they’re like Liverpool, says rival who reveals gameplan to target Maguire failed

LUTON winger Andros Townsend has praised Manchester United following his side’s 1-0 defeat to them before the international break.Townsend said Manchester United’s statistics do not tell the whole story this season and that they were a very difficult opponent to come up against.

After a tough start to the season, Manchester United have rallied to four wins in five in the Premier League.
They sit sixth in the table on 21 points, five points off Tottenham in fourth.
Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live, Townsend said: “They are difficult. We were able to defend against them well but similar to Liverpool they just find a way.
“Bruno Fernandes drifts out to the outside left position, links up with Reguilon, they get a few crosses that way. Dalot comes into the midfield creating an overload and we did limit them to very few chances and defended well.

“Unfortunately, we switched off at one set piece and that was our whole game plan done. At the top level you need to stay switched on for 95 to 96 minutes because these top teams can punish you.”
Luton were ultimately outdone via a Victor Lindelof goal after a corner kick from Fernandes but Townsend insisted it was a tough day at the office all round for Luton.
Townsend continued: “Honestly, it was extremely tough game. There was rotation all over the pitch. We were well drilled and confident as we had just got a point against Liverpool the week before, we had a game plan to press high up the pitch and force turnovers, United didn’t really give us anything.”
Despite coach Rob Edwards outlining a plan to the Luton players before the game to give Harry Maguire no time on the ball, Townsend said Maguire evaded the press well.

He said: “Maguire was good on the ball, we tried to press him but he was very good, Bruno Fernandes didn’t give us anything. You look on the stats sheet and it might be like United didn’t do this or that but it was so difficult for us to be able to contain this United side. They posed so many problems, even if it doesn’t show up on a piece of paper.”
Maguire started his fifth successive Premier League game in a row against Luton and continues to keep Raphael Varane out of the side.
The defender is settling well back into the side having been stripped of the captaincy and looking set to leave this summer.
United travel to Everton on Sunday and will be the first side to face the Toffees since their 10 point deduction dropped them into the relegation zone.
