Erik ten Hag ready to hijack Prem rivals as he lines up TWO transfer targets to replace Raphael Varane

MANCHESTER UNITED are hunting two major Premier League targets as they prepare to cash in on Raphael Varane. Nice’s Jean-Clair Todibo and Sporting Lisbon hero Goncalo Inacio are tipped to top Erik ten Hag’s shopping list for centre-backs next summer.

But Arsenal and Chelsea rate Todibo highly, while Liverpool scouts have watched Inacio.
United have stepped up their interest in the duo after Varane slipped way down the pecking order at Old Trafford.
Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof and Jonny Evans are ahead of the frustrated Frenchman, with Lisandro Martinez due back from injury later this month.
United’s incoming investor Sir Jim Ratcliffe is understood to have cleared the sale of 30-year-old Varane as part of a wider squad shake-up.

And already Bayern Munich are said to be following his situation carefully.
But Varane’s wages of £340,000 a week are a big stumbling block to the ex-Real Madrid star joining Harry Kane at the German champions.
Ratcliffe is ready to allow, or even encourage, a mini-clear-out once he completes his 25 per cent buy-in of United.
The INEOS owner hopes to take over the club completely in a few years.

Todibo, 23, who joined Nice from Barcelona after a loan spell, has long been linked with the Red Devils.
Inacio is a risng star, having won all his five Portugal caps this year.
But Liverpool might force United’s hand over the 22-year-old – as Anfield chief Jurgen Klopp is reportedly weighing up a January offer for him.

And Three Lions striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been trailed by Arsenal and Roma.
The Toffees could be forced into drastic sales as they fear a £300MILLION compensation claim.
Everton were deducted ten points for breaching Financial Fair Play rules.
That left Burnley, Leicester and Leeds preparing to sue, with a potential £100m for each club at stake if they win the case.

So apart from dropping into the drop zone with the points penalty, the Toffees could lose prized assets in the next transfer window.
Pickford, 29, only extended his Goodison contract earlier this year until 2017.
And Prem giants are expected to circle for the Three Lions’ first-choice stopper, should Everton decide to cash in.
Meanwhile, Onana has reportedly been on the radar of at least four top-flight rivals.

United, Chelsea and especially Arsenal have been persistent admirers of the £50million-rated Belgium anchorman, 22.
But West Ham too showed interest over the summer – as a long-term replacement for Arsenal’s £105m buy Declan Rice.
As for Calvert-Lewin, the 26-year-old’s progress has been blighted by injury since earning 11 caps up to 2021.
But Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq have pondered offering the hitman a massive pay deal.
And aside from Prem clubs, Jose Mourinho has been considering Calvert-Lewin as a fill-in for injured Tammy Abraham. More

Sky Sports ‘ready to use pre-recorded crowd noise’ to drown out Everton’s X-rated protest chant in Man Utd clash

SKY SPORTS could use pre-recorded crowd noise to block out an X-rated chant from Everton fans against Manchester United on Sunday.Home supporters will protest at the club’s ten-point deduction by blasting “Premier League corrupt as f***” in the tenth minute of the live TV game.

Toffees’ supporters are plotting a verbal blast at Prem chiefsCredit: The Times
The Times say Sky will act to drown out any offensive language – to make sure their coverage sticks within broadcast guidelines.
That could include using noise already recorded – a tactic deployed during the Covid lockdown.
At that time, though, it became an interactive choice for TV viewers, rather than enforced.
The other option back then was to watch the matches from quiet stadiums devoid of supporters with little “atmosphere”.

Now Sky will take action to follow Ofcom rules on not broadcasting bad language, especially at such a family time as Sunday afternoon and well before the 9pm watershed.
Many Everton fans are furious at the club’s ten-point penalty for a single breach of profit and sustainability rules.
They believe the punishment is too stiff, particularly as Manchester City face 115 charges while Chelsea are being investigated over payments in the Roman Abramovich era.
It could even get worse for the Toffees – with the risk of an extra nine-point deduction.

The Mail suggest Everton might be hit with a £300million compensation bill – if Burnley, Leicester and Leeds sue the Toffees and win the case.
That could leave new Everton owners 777 partners struggling to pay up.
And if they failed to do so, the Toffees would be put into administration – meaning nine points docked off. More

With Ratcliffe’s arrival edging closer he is expected to be making a lot of changes to the Man Utd squad.
Only just last term the club waved goodbye to a host of stars including David de Gea, Anthony Elanga, Dean Henderson and Fred.
But United have lost nine of their opening matches this term as the Dutch boss is desperate for a bigger clearout of his squad according to Manchester Evening News.
The report claims over the next 12 months Ten Hag is aiming to get rid of 10 or more players with the help of the club’s new takeover from Ratcliffe’s £1.3billion deal to buy 25 per cent of the club.

The long list includes defender Jonny Evans who is nearly 36 and could struggle to earn himself a new deal as his contract runs out next year.
Raphael Varane is another suspect who is at risk of being thrown out the exit door as he has fallen down the pecking order.
SunSport exclusively revealed the former Real Madrid star is targeting a move to Saudi Arabia or Italy, but not until the summer window.
It’s clear Ten Hag has opted for Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof over the French international this term.

But Lindelof’s deal is also up next year while Maguire’s runs out in 2025.
Meanwhile, full-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka is approaching the final six months of his contract as his future at Old Trafford remains uncertain.
The report also claims Ten Hag will be looking to make more changes in the midfield.
While Fred headed to the Turkish side Fenerbahce, United held onto Scott McTominay despite interest from West Ham.
United ended up replacing the Brazilian with Sofyan Amrabat who joined on loan from Fiorentina.
There is an option to sign the Moroccan permanently at the end of the term but he is yet to prove himself and become a regular starter for the team.
Meanwhile, midfielders Caseimiro and Christian Eriksen are both in their 30s and United could be tempted to sell the pair.
Also Anthony Martial’s future remains unclear as his contract runs out next June.
The French star is in his ninth term at United but has fallen down the ranks since Rasmus Hojlund’s arrival.
Having failed to score since May he has made a limited amount of appearances in Ten Hag’s squad this season.
With United only managing to hit the back of the net 13 times so far this term a change to the frontline is impending.
And the other stars on the offload list are backup shot-stopper Tom Heaton and Hannibal Mejbri whose contracts run out in 2024.
Hannibal’s contract can be extended for another 12 months but Heaton’s time at Old Trafford could be coming to an end.

The now 53-year-old sported a set of brown floppy hair as he sat between the sticks for the Red Devils.
But now Reggina’s former sporting director has traded his famous locks for a shaven cut his 6ft 3in frame has broadened.
The Italian started strong at Old Trafford following his £4.5million move from Venezia but his performances quickly took a turn for the worse.
The shot stopper put together a Man of the Match display on his debut against Liverpool at Anfield where United won 3-2.

The keeper than started in a 1-1 draw against Wimbledon and then committed one of the most infamous howlers in Premier League history, which led to a swift exit.
That took place during a 3-3 draw with Southampton when a long-range shot from Matt Le Tissier went straight at the Italian who dropped to the ground to scoop the ball but it rolled underneath his body.
His final appearance took place soon after in a 5-0 loss at Chelsea and that led to his departure in January 2000 as he joined Reggina.

“Going through the legs, it looks ridiculous, but it happens often. It’s not the first, it wasn’t the last.
“I had a similar incident like that at Torino. It happens. It’s an accident, not an error.
“An error is to come out for the ball and miss it but an innocuous shot which goes through your legs is just a total accident.
“Unfortunately, the week after, we went to Chelsea and lost 5-0 and as I couldn’t play in the Champions League having already been registered with [AC] Milan.
“Ferguson decided, rightly, to sit me out for a little, to give me time to learn the language.” More
