I’ve become tired of my own club and don’t want to watch their games anymore, says Neville ahead of Man Utd’s horror run

GARY NEVILLE has admitted to being so fed up of watching Manchester United games he now no longer wants to work on them. United slumped to their sixth Premier League loss of the season with a 1-0 defeat to Newcastle on Saturday evening.
Gary Neville admitted to not wanting to watch Manchester United anymore
And they have a horror run coming up with Chelsea, Bayern Munich, Liverpool, Aston Villa and Tottenham still to play within the next month.
Old Trafford legend Neville is now fearing the worst and has opened up on dreading even having to watch Erik ten Hag’s side in action.
He said on Sky Sports: “It’s well below par, it’s really disappointing.
“I feel like we’re in a cycle to be fair – I say “we” – the noise against the manager is starting to occur.

“There is the same noises that say, ‘Well surely we can’t get rid of another manager, we’ve got to get rid of the players because they’re the ones that got rid of the other managers’.
“And then we turn to the owners – and I’m bored. I’ve become tired of my own club.
“I don’t want to do their games anymore, I don’t want to watch their games anymore, and that is the saddest indictment that you can have of your football club, when you become bored of watching them, when you become tired of watching them.
“And it’s not just me, a couple of people in the last couple of weeks [have said] ‘enough’s enough’.”

And Neville added: “On Wednesday night I’ll build my whole Wednesday night around watching Manchester United, because that’s life, we go and watch them again don’t we!
“But that’s how I feel today, I feel tired of watching them, and that’s a sad position to be in.
“I love that club and I love the excitement of football but I’m already fearing what’s going to happen at Anfield in two weeks, just purely because I think it could be a miss.

And in 2001, shortly after winning his seventh league title, Ferguson tipped seven stars for greatness.
He said: “We’ve got some terrific prospects at Old Trafford.
“Darren Fletcher, who we hope will get over his broken leg, is good. Michael Stewart and Luke Chadwick are doing very well, and John O’Shea’s doing well too.
“There’s a young left back called Paul Tierney who’s doing well, as is Danny Pugh.

“But there’s a young boy who has started now, he’s 16, called Kieran Richardson. He’s going to be a fantastic player.”
While some went on to become United icons, others went on to enjoy time elsewhere in England and Scotland.
But what happened to them all?
    Darren Fletcher
Every Man Utd fan, no matter how young or old, will likely recognise the name Darren Fletcher.

The midfielder joined United’s academy at the age of 11 and signed his first contract four years later.
Fletcher made his first team debut in 2003 and went on to spend 12 years at Old Trafford, winning five Premier League titles, three League Cups, an FA Cup and a Champions League title.
After leaving Man Utd he enjoys spells with West Brom and Stoke City before retiring in 2020.

    Michael Stewart
The midfielder signed his first professional contract with Man Utd in 1998, but found game time hard to come by.
He made just 14 senior appearances before leaving in 2005 to join Hibernian.
Stewart went on to spend time with Hearts, Turkish side Gençlerbirliği SK and Charlton before retiring in 2011.
The 42-year-old now works as a pundit on BBC and TNT Sports, usually covering the Scottish Premiership.

    Luke Chadwick
Chadwick made his professional debut for the Red Devils in 1999 against Aston Villa.
However, he struggled to establish himself as a regular first team player and was subsequently loaned out five times – twice to Royal Antwerp, twice to Reading and once to Burnley.
The midfielder eventually left Old Trafford in 2004 after making 38 appearances.
He went on to play for West Ham, Stoke, Norwich, MK Dons, Cambridge United and non-league side Soham Town Rangers before retiring in 2016.

    John O’Shea
O’Shea signed his first professional contract for Man Utd at the age of 17 and made his first team debut in a League Cup defeat to Aston Villa in 1999 – at the same time as Chadwick.
The defender went on to win five Premier League titles, the Champions League and the FA Cup with the Red Devils before leaving in 2011.
He then went on to play for Sunderland and Reading.
After retiring from football in 2019 O’Shea turned to coaching and has since worked with Reading, Republic of Ireland and Stoke.
He is now Wayne Rooney’s assistant at Birmingham City.

    Paul Tierney
The full-back signed his first professional contract with Man Utd in 2000, but struggled to break into the first team.
His first, and only, appearance for the Red Devils came in a League Cup defeat to West Brom in 2003.
Following several loan spells, he was eventually sold to Livingston in 2005 and also went on to play for Blackpool, Stockport and Altrincham.
He stepped away from football in 2009 and is now a Council Tax Team Leader for Salford City Council.
    Danny Pugh
Pugh made his Man Utd debut in a Champions League group stage match against Maccabi Haifa in 2002, just a matter or days before his first Premier League appearance.
He was limited to just seven senior appearances for United before joining Leeds.
The midfielder then went on to play for nine different clubs across the English football pyramid.
He is now a UEFA A Licensed Football Coach.
    Kieran Richardson
Ferguson predicted that Richardson would become a “fantastic player” back in 2001.
The winger and midfielder went on to win two Premier League titles and the FA Cup with United, making 81 appearances and scoring 11 goals.

Kobbie Mainoo set for bumper pay rise after week to remember but Man Utd determined to keep new golden boy grounded

GOLDEN boy Kobbie Mainoo’s week to remember has taken him two steps closer to doubling his dough at Manchester United.Mainoo has long been touted as the next Old Trafford sensation and United were quick to nail him down with a new deal in February.
Kobbie Mainoo will soon double his weekly wage
His current deal expires in 2027 and there is a year extension option.
That contract included a series of incremental pay hikes… one of which will see his salary rocket to £20,000 when his first-team appearances hit double figures.
And that is likely to happen before the end of the month, given the impression he has made since being handed a shock chance.
A week ago Mainoo, 18, was a surprise selection for United’s trip to Everton in front of a sold-out Goodison packed with fired-up fans at the Toffees’ ten-point deduction.

Yet the Stockport-born midfielder had a starring role in the 3-0 win, and followed up with another impressive display off the bench in the midweek 3-3 draw against Galatasaray in Istanbul.
That took his senior appearances to five… halfway to triggering that double-your-money increase.
And he also started in the 1-0 loss to Newcastle.
Mainoo will also boost that more with substantial bonuses every time he is in the matchday squad, with appearance and win clauses on top.

His wages will rocket further once he is an established first-teamer, but the club are determined to keep their academy stars grounded after having their fingers burned in the past.
They have previously handed huge deals to emerging talents like Adnan Januzaj, who was on £50,000 after he broke through, and are reluctant to pay big bucks too early again. More

Corinthians are demanding a fee of £21m for Moscardo.
Chelsea have already seen a £17m offer turned down by the Brazilian club.
And Foot Mercato claim PSG now look set to beat the Blues to the signing with the club preparing to meet Corinthians’ asking price.
Their director of football Luis Campos is ready to fly to South America to get the deal done in January.
    READ MORE IN FOOTBALL
Moscardo reportedly prefers a move to PSG rather than Chelsea.
The midfielder believes he is more likely to get playing time in Paris due to the amount of options the Blues have in the centre of the pitch.
Mauricio Pochettino has Enzo Fernandez, Moises Caicedo, Conor Gallagher, Romeo Lavia, Lesley Ugochukwu and Carney Chukwuemeka all at his disposal.
Chelsea would also not be able to loan Moscardo out in January as the club have already used up their maximum of seven international loan spots.

Thomas Muller told to leave Bayern Munich with Man Utd ‘seeking transfer for Germany legend’

THOMAS MULLER has been advised to leave Bayern Munich. And that could pave the way for Manchester United to try and land the Germany legend.
Thomas Muller could leave Bayern Munich after 23 yearsCredit: Getty
Muller, 34, is struggling for game time at the Allianz Arena this season – especially following Harry Kane’s arrival.
The likes of Jamal Musiala, Leroy Sane, Kingsley Coman, Serge Gnabry and even Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting have also limited his involvement under Thomas Tuchel.
It means vice-captain Muller has two goals and five assists from 15 appearances this term.
But those 15 games total just 575 minutes of football and only include six starts.
    READ MORE ON FOOTBALL
Now Lothar Matthaus has encouraged the 126-cap international to move on after 23 years with Bayern for a new venture elsewhere after nearly 700 first-team appearances.
World Cup-winning captain Mathaus – who left Bayern for New York MetroStars in 2000 – urged Muller to make a similar move.
He wrote for Sky Sport in Germany: “At Bayern Munich he will no longer get the minutes he got two years ago. If he has the confidence to play from the start like he did two years ago, then he has to change clubs. You have to say that openly.
“Muller’s situation looks like a gradual decline.

“As far as Muller’s future at Bayern is concerned, the question is what Thomas wants. Is he content with only being a part-time worker or even not playing at all?
“Muller is rooted in Munich, but perhaps he can imagine a new life experience, for example in North America?”
But according to Bild, Erik ten Hag will likely attempt to sign Muller in 2024.
The Dutchman is a big fan of the experienced forward and reportedly reached out to him last winter over a possible transfer.
Now he could be prepared to go back in for Muller to bolster his squad.
Muller is said to be keen to see out his contract which expires at the end of the season – although Tuchel would be open to him signing an extension to stay put.
Matthaus added: “If Thomas is satisfied that he will only be used now and then and the club communicates this clearly to the outside world, it is okay for all parties.”

CHELSEA look set for major transfer disappointment after Napoli claimed Victor Osimhen was on the verge of committing his future to them. The 24-year-old Nigerian striker achieved legendary status last season by firing the Italian club to their first Serie A title in 33 years.
Chelsea’s hopes of signing Victor Osimhen from January have suffered a huge blowCredit: Getty
Osimhen scored 26 goals in 32 top-flight matches and has continued that red-hot form this term.
That led to him being linked with a host of Europe’s biggest clubs over the summer transfer window as both Manchester United and Chelsea chased his signature.
Despite that, he has kept his focus and added another six strikes to his Napoli tally this term despite a number of controversies.
Both the Premier League duo and rivals Arsenal were put on red alert after a controversial TikTok post left the player contemplating SUING his employers back in September.
    READ MORE ON FOOTBALL
Now Chelsea owner Todd Boehly is itching to strengthen his frontline and has made Osimhen his top January target.
But he looks set to suffer frustration after Napoli’s CEO Aurelio de Laurentiis revealed that the club and their talisman are close to agreeing a contract extension.
Despite previous talks breaking down, he made the revelation while awarding the Campania Felix award this week.
De Laurentiis said: “For Osimhen, we are at signing of the contract that was pending this summer.”

Previous speculation had stated that under the terms of the deal, Napoli are likely to include a hefty release clause.
Osimhen’s current contract expires in June 2025.
Napoli are currently struggling in their title defence and are currently nine points behind leaders Juventus.
But they will be hoping to try and close that gap when they take on second-placed Inter Milan at home on Sunday. More

But there was a break clause in the loan agreement which means United could have sent him back in January.
However it appears Reguilon will be needed as cover for Luke Shaw for several more weeks as Malacia is some way off fitness.
Malacia, 24, underwent surgery on a knee injury in the summer and it was hoped the Dutchman would already be back in action.
But the club revealed he suffered a setback in his rehabilitation which required more surgery – he is now not expected back until the new year.
    READ MORE ON MAN UTD
Malacia is continuing his recovery at Carrington but will take a few more weeks to get back to full fitness.
Shaw has just returned from several months out so Reguilon will likely be kept as a precaution, as Erik ten Hag will want to avoid a repeat of playing players like Sofyan Amrabat out of position.
United issued an update on Malacia yesterday that read: “Tyrell Malacia is on course to return to action early next year, as he recovers from a knee injury.
“The Dutch left-back has not played so far this season, following an operation over the summer.

And the mega-rich businessman will turn to his chief lieutenant Sir Dave Brailsford in a bid to turn the club around.
According to The Mirror, Brailsford is taking a psychology-based approach alongside therapist Steve Peters at Team Sky.
And it could prove to benefit squad outcast Sancho, who has been exiled from the first team since September.
The 23-year-old winger was fuming after being dropped for United’s 3-1 loss to Arsenal, which Erik ten Hag put down to performances in training.

Sancho sensationally spoke out on social media to claim he was being used as a “scapegoat”.
And after refusing to apologise to his manager for the online outburst, Sancho has been out of the fold ever since.
He has been banished from first-team training since September and instead trains with United’s academy teams.
But Ratcliffe is believed to be focussed on bringing in more homegrown players.

That could offer Sancho his route back into the side.

Al-Hilal are the latest to be interested in Sancho as they look to replace injured Brazil superstar Neymar.
