United must fend of interest from Manchester City, Liverpool and Tottenham – who all have their eye on the defensive midfielder.
The Mail report that talent-spotters were in attendance at Boro matches in recent months, and Spurs are among those most interested.
Premier League scouts attended his last game away at Bristol City before he picked up a hamstring injury.
Interestingly, most of those top six clubs have not watched the team during his three game absence.

Both Manchester clubs are monitoring him, with United said to be more keen.
Hackney’s manager is United legend Michael Carrick, who guided Boro to fourth in the Championship last year.
The England star signed a new four-year contract in the summer, but there is an acceptance he will snapped up if Boro fail to win promotion to the Premier League.
United midfielder Casemiro failed to replicate last season’s form before his injury, and Sofyan Amrabat will likely miss out on a permanent move.

While Liverpool are also interested with Wataru Endo and Thiago Alcantara both in their thirties.
Hackney has made 16 league appearances this season, and a further four in the EFL Cup.
He also won five caps for England’s under-21s over the autumn, playing alongside current Liverpool star Harvey Elliott.
Despite a good start, Middlesbrough have dropped to 12th, losing three of their last five.
However, the club remain six points away from the playoff spots. More

Man Utd transfer kitty hit for MILLIONS as staggering cost of embarrassing Champions League exit is revealed

MANCHESTER UNITED’S exit from the Champions League has cost the club millions in revenue. The Red Devils crashed out of the Champions League last night following their 1-0 defeat to Bayern Munich.

Their failure to even get a point means they finished bottom of their group and won’t even be heading into the Europa League.
Without even accounting for the bump they would have received in TV revenue if they had reached the final, United will miss out on the £45million in prize money they would have received if they had reached the final.
While reaching the final was incredibly unlikely given the side’s struggles this season, The Telegraph report that United were accounting for at least reaching the quarter-finals this season.
By not reaching the quarters, United have lost out on a potential income of £27m.

The club would have stood to receive around £8.2m in matchday income across the two home knockout ties plus £19.5m in prize money.
While the Europa League isn’t anywhere near as lucrative, United stood to receive £7.4m in prize money were they to drop into and win the competition.
United’s European exit could see them offload surplus squad players in January given they will no longer need such a large squad.
Exiled winger Jadon Sancho and attacking midfielder Donny van de Beek look nailed on to leave this window with Van de Beek attracting interest from Frankfurt and LaLiga leaders Girona.

Raphael Varane, Casemiro and Anthony Martial could all also leave if decent offers come in.
But United will be heavily limited in terms of incomings in January.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s 25 per-cent stake in the club still requires Premier League verification which will take between four and eight weeks. More

Bild were not impressed with the Red Devils’ showing with Rasmus Hojlund rated the worst player on the pitch.
But Garnacho was also subject to criticism as he was called a “hooligan” over an incident with Kingsley Coman.
Garnacho, 19, tussled for the ball with Coman before nudging the winger down the slope at pitchside and into the advertising hoardings.
That sparked a melee led by Harry Kane, who took exception to Garnacho’s lack of sportsmanship.

Fortunately, Coman escaped the incident unscathed as the referee got in the middle of the brawl and eventually continued with the game without punishment.
Bild use a 1-6 scale to rate players with – one is the best and six is the worst, with Garnacho receiving a four.
Bruno Fernandes, Luke Shaw and Diogo Dalot were the highest-rated United players with three.
Garnacho has been one of few bright sparks for United this season with two goals and one assist.

But he has been teased by his Argentina team-mates over his love for Cristiano Ronaldo so much that he is reportedly too shy to talk.
Midfielder Leandro Paredes said: “We joked about it with him. He is very shy and does not answer.
“Poor guy, we drove him crazy. We also talked to him about what the group is, somehow we try to make them feel part of it and feel comfortable.
“Although in this case he got very nervous and couldn’t talk. But as he said, I think he is his idol, he always followed him a lot and he plays quite similar.
“So it’s normal, nothing happens. Obviously, when he comes to the national team he has to change a little bit because there is ours.” More

SunSport reported that United approached the LaLiga giants regarding the possibility of exchanging Sancho for Raphinha.
Raphinha, 26, spent two years with Leeds United, and scored 16 Premier League goals.

Barca would only consider selling next summer if they received a significant fee for the Brazil international.
He joined Barcelona in a £55million deal from Leeds in 2022 and has 12 goals and 17 assists in 65 appearances for the Spanish champions.
Meanwhile, Sancho remains exiled with the winger refusing to make peace with Ten Hag.
The January transfer window provides a potential solution for United, who are currently getting nothing out of their £73m player who earns around £300,000 per week.

While Barca have rejected the proposal, his former club Borussia  Dortmund could consider a swap involving Sancho and Donyell Malen.
The England international contributed 50 goals and 64 assists in 137 games for Dortmund between 2017 and 2021 before heading to Old Trafford.
Ahead of Man Utd’s 3-0 loss to Bournemouth on Saturday, Ten Hag reiterated that the ball is in Sancho’s court if he wants to be reintegrated into the squad.
He said: “So it is about a culture and every player has to match certain standards and it was about that.”
United face their bitter rivals in league leaders Liverpool on Sunday, which will hold a record attendance following the opening of the new Anfield Road Stand.
United- who are sixth in the table – have failed to win away at Liverpool since January 2016, when Wayne Rooney grabbed the only goal. More

Getafe FC will consider buying the goalscorer, The Athletic reports, after impressing with the team with four goals in 13 matches.
The Athletic also reported that Getafe do not expect Greenwood to return to United at all – providing a major clue as to the forward’s future.
The Madrid side also reportedly have a 20 per cent sell-on clause in his season-long loan contract if the striker were to move elsewhere.

Getafe president Angel Corres has said the Spanish side are “considering buying” the player as well as extending his loan.
Speaking to Cadena SER, Corres revealed on Tuesday: “With Greenwood, we are not only planning on him staying another year, but we also want to buy him.”
Greenwood’s contract at United goes until 2025 with an option to extend it for another year.
But, other European teams like Lazio, Valencia and Real Sociedad are said to be eyeing the 22-year-old.

The owner of Champions League team Lazio is “obsessed” with the English striker and a January bid can’t be ruled out, Italian media have reported.
La Lazio Siamo Noi, a Lazio news website, has reported the boss of the Serie A side still has feelings for Greenwood after a summer deal fell through.
Lazio president Claudio Lotito is reported to be hellbent on having a second go at signing Greenwood as the team currently sits in 10th, with the sale potentially happening as soon as January.
Greenwood was arrested in January 2022 following charges of attempted rape, assault and coercive control.
He denied all the charges and they were later dropped by the CPS.
The club attempted to reintegrate Greenwood but made a U-turn on the stance after fan backlash.

Rio Ferdinand names Wayne Rooney as his ‘worst Man Utd team-mate’ in BBC podcast

RIO FERDINAND has explained how Wayne Rooney was his worst team-mate to play with due to the number of arguments they had on the field.Ferdinand and Rooney played in one of the most successful Manchester United teams of all time under Sir Alex Ferguson, winning several Premier Leagues and a Champions League together.

During their ten years together at United, Rooney established himself as the club’s all time record goalscorer and Ferdinand became a Premier League hall of fame defender.
But Ferdinand has revealed that he and Rooney would have their differences on the pitch which led to multiple arguments during games.
The former England centre-back was appearing on rugby league legend Rob Burrow’s podcast.
Burrow suffers from motor neurone disease and asks questions using an eye-gaze machine.

He asks each guest seven questions as he looks to understand how top players operate.
Ferdinand explained his desire to get the best out of Rooney on the field led to arguments.
He said: “The worst team-mate I probably had the most arguments with Wayne Rooney to be honest with you. Never came to blows, it was on the pitch.
“We never argued in training really, it was just match day, we probably argued once every two or three games, effing and blinding, screaming at each other because I wanted more from him.

“The biggest thing for me with Wayne is he wanted to play 30 or 40 yard passes like Paul Scholes, and he could do it, he was that good. I wanted him to score 30 or 40 goals a season, because he could.
“We played one season and he scored 30-something goals and he wasn’t happy because he wasn’t getting involved in the game and dictating it, he was having to play high. And I couldn’t get my head around it. That’s the top striker, I want you to be that because I know you can be that.
“But he loved football that much he wanted to play football like he was playing in the park, and we used to argue, I’d tell him to shoot and he’d scream back at me. But they were good arguments.
The internal arguments proved to be fruitful as Rooney went on to score 253 goals and become United’s all time top goalscorer.
He would re-join his boyhood club Everton in 2017, where he did operate deeper in the team – either as an attacking or defensive midfielder.
Rooney is the current manager of Birmingham in the Championship – but has endured a tough period since taking over in October. More

United needed to beat the German champions and hope Copenhagen drew with Galatasaray.
But the Red Devils never did enough to make their side of the bargain look realistic.
And once more Ten Hag’s men lacked creativity.
Again too they suffered injury problems, losing England defenders Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw just before the break.

But Copenhagen went through with a 1-0 win in the other Group A match – while United’s days as a European superpower look further in the past than ever as their far-fetched dream petered out.
Here’s how United rated, player by player, in their tame old Trafford exit.
    Andre Onana – 5
No chance with Coman’s 70th-minute strike after a quiet night against a Bayern side only in third gear.

    Diogo Dalot – 6
Right-back put in a decent shift but could never fully commit in attack because Antony was so poor in front of him.

    Harry Maguire – 6
Limped off with groin problems to the standing ovation that showed how times have changed for the England defender.
    Raphael Varane – 7
Hadn’t started since Copenhagen in October but if he’s got a problem with Erik ten Hag it didn’t show.
    Luke Shaw – 6
Excellent covering, determined tackling and passing – had a good thing going with Garnacho up ahead but forced off at the break.
    Scott McTominay – 5
Put in plenty of hard yards but only because he was given the runaround by more sophisticated opponents.
    Sofyan Amrabat – 7
The Moroccan’s best performance in a United shirt and surely earning a place for Sunday’s Anfield showdown.
    Bruno Fernandes – 4
Frustrating, enigmatic – the usual package from the captain who thinks he is so much better than he really is.

    Antony – 3
Again performed like a no-trick pony and of all of United’s under-performers, he’s the first who should be dumped in January.
