MASON Greenwood enjoyed a family Christmas at home after jetting into Manchester with his partner Harriet Robson. The Manchester United forward – on loan with Spanish club Getafe after Old Trafford bosses ruled he couldn’t play for the club following abuse allegations – was pictured shopping with Wag Harriet Robson in Hale, Cheshire, in the run up to Christmas.

The couple, who have a daughter, flew back during the La Liga winter break
The couple, who have a baby daughter, flew back to the UK to see family during the La Liga winter break which runs from December 23 to January 3.
A source said: “Mason and Harriet have really enjoyed living in Spain. They have had time and space to enjoy being a young family and are facing up to the challenge of living in a foreign country.
“He has had lots of problems off the pitch in his short career, but he finally seems to be addressing them and sorting himself out.
“He has made some good friends with teammates and Harriet has been welcomed by some of the Wags. They like being able to go out in Madrid without feeling like everyone is watching them.”

Greenwood moved to the Madrid-based side in September after United announced the previous month he wouldn’t play for them again.
The decision came after allegations of attempted rape, assault and controlling coercive behaviour were dropped by the CPS when a key witness refused to co-operate with the prosecution.
United then launched an internal investigation into Greenwood’s conduct and kept him suspended on full pay of £75,000-a-week.
Getafe are understood to have told United they would like to buy Greenwood for £40m, but United want to keep Greenwood’s deal as a loan move.

His future remains uncertain with Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and AC Milan all keeping tabs on his form.
The 22-year-old has scored five goals and provided four assists in 15 games since moving to Getafe in September.
His form has led to some United fans to call for his return to Old Trafford despite bosses previously saying he needed to leave to rebuild his career and that they had no plans to bring him back.
Former United starlet Ravel Morrison tweeted: “What a player. United need to bring him back!!” after watching a highlights reel of Greenwood playing for Getafe.
After Greenwood led a late comeback against Atletico to draw 3-3, France striker Antoine Griezmann heaped praise on him, saying “Mason Greenwood was really causing us problems in the second half. We couldn’t stop him and it cost us the game.”

And United bizarrely chose to make the huge announcement on Christmas Eve – something slammed by Old Trafford legend Neville.
He posted on X, formerly Twitter: “Manchester United 2023 has been a disgrace to the end.
“The timing of this is truly awful and no functioning organisation would even think about it.
“Anyway all the very best to Jim Ratcliffe and I hope he can somehow work out a way to get the club right again and back to being something respectable on and off the pitch.”

And Neville’s fury was echoed by fans, as one said: “It’s reason why Manchester United has fallen off so bad , for a big club like us it’s insane how bad we are run.”
    Another added: “Complete mismanagement.”
One fumed: “Neville is right. Putting the news out on Xmas eve means less scrutiny and questions about the deal.

The Glazers first put the club up for sale a year ago but failed to agree to selling their entire share.
Their demands led to rival Sheikh Jassim pulling out of the race but it did not deter Ratcliffe, who plans to take a hands-on approach to running the club.
He is set to be in charge of football operations and has been desperate to get his feet under the table for some time with Man Utd enduring a difficult season.
Ratcliffe has already fired chief executive Richard Arnold and director of football John Murtough could follow suit.

Seven Man Utd stars at risk of axe after Sir Jim Ratcliffe takeover as Britain’s richest man looks to overhaul squad

SIR JIM RATCLIFFE’s Manchester United revolution is underway – and he’s set to make sweeping changes at the club.Britain’s richest man completed his protracted acquisition of shares in the Red Devils on Sunday.

The billionaire now owns 25 per cent of the club, which has been toiling under the ownership of Glazers for several years.
SunSport understands Ratcliffe will make changes to the structure of the club and is contemplating axing manager Erik ten Hag.
And he’s set to drastically overhaul the Dutchman’s underperforming squad.
A whopping SEVEN players are on Ratcliffe’s chopping block and SunSport is on hand to run through the stars whose Old Trafford futures look bleak.

    Jadon Sancho
The England international has been frozen out of the first-team since hitting back at Ten Hag following United’s 2-1 defeat to Arsenal in September.
Sancho has refused to apologise for his criticism of his manager, which could very well be deemed as problematic by Ratcliffe.

    Casemiro
The five-time Champions League winner has looked a shell of the player who bossed Real Madrid’s midfield for years.
The Brazilian has had a considerable drop-off this season, so much so fans have called for teenager Kobbie Mainoo to replace him.
    Most read in Football
Casemiro’s wages are some of the heftiest in the squad, so that – along with his poor displays – makes him a serious candidate for the axe.
    Antony
Manchester United’s second-most-expensive signing has well and truly failed to reward Ten Hag for his pricey show of faith in him.
The Brazilian – who cost the club a staggering £85million – has only scored eight goals and provided three assists in 18 months at the Theatre of Dreams.
His poor form – along with his frustrating style and wages – will almost certainly put him at risk of being sold.
Casemiro and Antony are to of Manchester United’s main underperformersCredit: GETTY
    Raphael Varane
World Cup and four-time Champions League winner Varane is also at risk of the chop following his rift with Ten Hag, which the Dutchman has denied.
The Frenchman is reportedly unhappy with his current situation and considering his future at the club, who could choose to cut their losses and let his big-money contract expire next summer.
    Harry Maguire
The world’s most expensive defender’s future at Old Trafford looked bleak just a few months ago. Everything that could go wrong for him did.
Even his proposed summer move to West Ham ended up collapsing.
Maguire, however, has battled through adversity, picked himself up and dusted himself off – so much so that he’s starting to show signs of rediscovering his form of old.
He seemingly now has a future at the club, although it remains to be seen whether he decides to continue playing for the fans that maligned him or move on to pastures new.
Harry Maguire and Raphael Varane are by no means guaranteed to be at the club next seasonCredit: GETTY
    Andre Onana
To say Onana’s debut season at Old Trafford has been a nightmare would be the understatement of all understatements.
The Cameroonian has made clangers galore, to the point that some fans are calling for the club to re-sign David de Gea.
He won’t be sold in January, but Ratcliffe could be forced to take a long, hard look at the stopper if he continues to make howlers.

    Bruno Fernandes
The Portuguese midfielder has been Mr Consistent for Manchester United since joining them from Sporting Lisbon in January 2020.

But his petulance on the pitch has many calling for him to be relieved of the captaincy, with some supporters even wanting him to be sold.
It’s unlikely he’ll be moved on in January, but a summer exit is most definitely not off the cards.

Clue Sir Jim Ratcliffe will make FULL Man Utd takeover as clause in £1.3billion deal is revealed

It was also revealed he will take charge of the footballing operations at Old Trafford.
But the 25 per cent stake could well lead to a complete takeover in the coming years.
That’s because, according to The Mail, a clause in the deal says that if the Glazers want to sell then they first have to offer their shares to Ratcliffe.
Ratcliffe was initially interested in a majority stake, before he settled for 25 per cent – which cost him £1.3billion.

Man Utd fans are keen to end the Glazers reign after 18 years at the helm.
Red Devils supporters have held a number of protests against the family in that time.
And they could finally see the back of them if they choose to sell their remaining shares to Ratcliffe – who is a boyhood Man Utd fan.
Following his 25 per cent takeover, the Brit said: “As a local boy and a lifelong supporter of the club, I am very pleased that we have been able to agree a deal with the Manchester United board that delegates us management responsibility of the football operations of the club.

Five world class transfers Man Utd could pull off after Sir Jim Ratcliffe takeover including Osimhen and former star

MANCHESTER UNITED fans were handed an early Christmas present after Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s long-awaited 25 per cent takeover of the club was confirmed. The whole saga took a staggering 13 months, with supporters beginning to believe it would never happen.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe has officially completed his 25 per cent takeover of Man Utd – but who could the new part owner sign?Credit: PA
But on December 24, a Christmas miracle occurred and Ratcliffe concluded his £1.3billion stake in the Red Devils from the Glazer family.
The Glazers first put United on the market over a year ago but failed to agree to selling their entire share.
Their demands led to Sheikh Jassim pulling out of any potential deal but didn’t deter Ratcliffe.
The INEOS chief was always clear he planned to take a hands-on approach to running the club.

And Ratcliffe will now be in charge of football operations – which includes transfer dealings.
So who could the new part owner target to bolster Erik ten Hag’s struggling squad?
United are in dire need of reinforcements across the board, so there will be no shortage of targets and it’ll be more of a “longlist” than a shortlist.
SunSport looks at five of the best options for Ratcliffe’s Man Utd…

    Victor Osimhen
Scoring goals has been an almighty problem for Man Utd this season – with just 18 in 18 Premier League games this season.
United splashed £72million on Rasmus Hojlund, but the Dane has failed to break his top-flight duck.
The former Atalanta ace has been starved of service, but Ratcliffe could choose to bring in a proven, prolific scorer to reap some immediate rewards.
And Osimhen, 24, is the name on every top club’s lips right now, with the Napoli man on fire – scoring 31 times in just 39 matches last season in Serie A.
Frustratingly for Man Utd, Osimhen penned a new deal at the Italian giants just ONE DAY before Ratcliffe’s takeover.
But that doesn’t make him untouchable… just more expensive.
How much will Ratcliffe be willing to part with to land the most sought-after striker in Europe?
Man Utd need striking reinforcements and Victor Osimhen could be just the manCredit: AP
    Frenkie de Jong
Hojlund absolutely cannot be blamed for a lack of goals… he’s been starved of service – from the wings, especially.
But United have lack a certain creative spark in midfield.
Scott McTominay is the club’s top scorer this season, but has struggled as much as his team-mates to set up Hojlund and Co.
Barcelona star De Jong, 26, is a long-term target of United and appeared to be on the brink of a move in the summer.
Despite that falling through, Old Trafford chiefs – including Ratcliffe – will be eager to have another stab at landing the Dutch former Ajax ace in 2024.
A huge talent still yet to reach his peak years, this would be a statement move from the new part-owner.
Frenkie de Jong could be just the creative spark Man Utd have been crying out for in the middle of the parkCredit: Rex
    David de Gea
Another summer signing, another problem area.
Man Utd have looked desperately poor between the sticks with Andre Onana largely struggling since his £47m move to Old Trafford.
The Cameroon international could even be lost to the Africa Cup of Nations in early 2024.
So Ratcliffe could be keen to invest in a new keeper… someone with proven Premier League pedigree.
How about someone with proven Man Utd pedigree, like a four-time Players’ Player of the Year?
De Gea is STILL a free agent having been released by Ten Hag and Co in the summer and has recently teased a comeback after returning to Manchester.
The Spaniard may not be the future of United at 33 years old, but he’d certainly do a job between now and the end of the season at the very least.
Man Utd could turn back to David de Gea in a bid to solve their keeper crisisCredit: PA
    Serge Gnabry
Man Utd need a winger… desperately.
Hojlund has been left utterly isolated – but fans and pundits alike have spared the Dane from any fiercer criticism as Anthony, Alejandro Garnacho and Co just haven’t got him involved.
In fact, those two combined have only completed six passes to Hojlund all season.
So Ratcliffe will surely scour the globe for a creative, proven, world-class talent.
How about Bayern Munich’s former Arsenal ace Gnabry?
The German’s future at the Bundesliga giants is very much in doubt and United have been linked with a move.
With Jadon Sancho’s future at Old Trafford in increasing doubt, the Red Devils are looking wafer thin on the flanks.
In Gnabry, 28, United would get creativity, goals and a proven winner entering his prime years… what’s not to love?
Man Utd are in need of fresh legs on the wings and Serge Gnabry would be a marquee signingCredit: Getty
    Goncalo Inacio
Another problem area at the club… surely not?
United are really struggling for quality and depth across the board – and even proven, world-class Raphael Varane’s arrival hasn’t helped their shaky defence.
Veteran Jonny Evans and untested youngster Willy Kambwala started Saturday’s 2-0 defeat at West Ham as the injury crisis mounts.
Harry Maguire showed flashes of his best form and even won the November Player of the Month award before his latest injury setback.
United first registered an interest in the Sporting Lisbon star in the summer of 2022.
Inacio, 22, is under contract until the end of the 2025-26 season and he has a whopping £50m buyout clause.

SunSport understands a United scout was sent to Lisbon to closely monitor the Portuguese international.
And with Ratcliffe now at the helm, he could make a move as early as January.

Man Utd fans moan ‘this recruitment team man’ as they club target transfer for little-known youngster to help Hojlund

MANCHESTER UNITED fans have lambasted their club amid reports linking them with a move for Bologna forward Joshua Zirkzee.Erik ten Hag’s attackers have struggled to find the back of the net so far this season, with Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, Anthony Martial and Rasmus Hojlund mustering just four Premier League goals between them.

Hojlund, 20, joined from Atalanta for £72million in the summer and scored five goals in Man Utd’s disappointing Champions League campaign.
But he is still yet to net in 14 Premier League appearances – the latest of which came in a dismal 2-0 defeat to West Ham on Saturday.
According to Sport1, Man Utd are now considering an approach for Dutchman Zirkzee, 22, to improve Ten Hag’s options.
The ex-Bayern Munich man swapped Germany for Italy last year and has scored 10 times in 37 appearances for Bologna.

But Man Utd’s attempts to acquire Zirkzee could prove complicated.
Bayern have a £19m buy-back option on him and a 50 per cent sell-on clause should he leave Bologna.
It is also estimated Man Utd would have to pay between £30m and £35m to steal him away from the Serie A side.
However, Red Devils fans are not happy with their club being linked with Zirkzee.

Zirkzee has scored seven Serie A goals so far this season
One said: “Why buy another young striker to play alongside another young striker? This recruitment team mannn 🤦🏽‍♂️.”
Another added: “Nah wtf. He’s so average.”
A third replied: “Instead of focusing on the midfield that can’t create a single chance for strikers, we are in for another striker 😂😂😂.”
While a fourth responded: “How about a made striker like Ivan Toney.”
Man Utd have lost eight of their 18 Premier League games so far this season.
They are eight points adrift of the top four heading into Christmas – and have already been eliminated from the Champions League following just one win from six group-stage matches. More

Man Utd legend Paul Scholes slams ‘NAIVE’ Erik ten Hag for away-day struggles and claims ‘you can’t afford to do that’

PAUL SCHOLES has criticised Manchester United’s tactics under Erik ten Hag away from home.United have struggled away to top sides throughout ten Hag’s reign and only managed to win once away from home against the top ten last season.
Scholes has condemned Ten Hag’s approach in past away gamesCredit: Getty
Ahead of United’s early kick off against West Ham he slammed ten Hag as being “naive” away from Old Trafford.
He said: “They struggled last year in the big games last year and I also felt last year that it was naïve going to good away grounds and playing with one holding midfielder and the rest being attacking.
“That is the way he (Ten Hag) wants to play, but when you go to big teams in England, you can’t afford to do that.
“He’s really struggled to get the balance right and they come to West Ham today, it’s another big game because you can guarantee they will be super organised – they are difficult to play against but they also have the brilliant forward players that can cause you trouble.

United lined up against West Ham today with Bruno Fernandes as the deepest midfielder, allowing Scott McTominay to make runs into the box.
Scholes said he’s a fan of McTominay having the chance to get ahead of Fernandes.
He said: “I prefer out of the two between (Scott) McTominay and (Bruno) Fernandes, McTominay to go forward more because he scores goals and then Bruno is able to control the game better.”
United and West Ham were separated by just a point going into today’s game.

I was signed by Erik ten Hag for Man Utd… his tactics were to blame for my struggles

FORMER Manchester United striker Wout Weghorst has sensationally blamed Erik ten Hag for his struggles while on loan at United last season. The Dutch forward was a surprise signing from Burnley following a successful 2022 World Cup with Holland.

He managed just two goals and three assists in his 31 appearances for United and the club opted not to make the deal permanent.
Instead, he joined Bundesliga club Hoffenheim and has four goals and one assist in 14 games for his new team.
Despite his poor scoring record for United he has defended his involvement with the side.
In an interview with The Mirror he said: “[When I signed] They were super successful months in which we hardly lost. I was also very important for the team, as both a focal point of play and hard-working link between midfield and attack.
    READ MORE ON MAN UTD
“Only my goals were lagging behind. That gnawed at me and was the reason why I lost my starting place.
“The Premier League is by far the toughest league in the world, with the best defenders. But we were rarely the dominant side creating chances. And the way we played was also different from what I was used to.”
He has, however, admitted that he should have notched more goals: “In Germany and Turkey, the teams always played for me. I was the end of the line, while at United I mainly had to ensure that others could excel. I think I managed that very well. But whichever way you look at it, I would have liked to score much more often.”
Weghorst was on loan at Besiktas when United came knocking, and he admitted that the call from the Red Devils felt like a dream.

He said: “Things went very well at Besiktas and I was enjoying myself immensely there.
“One evening my agent, Simon Cziommer, called me. I was already in bed, rocking my daughter Daantje to sleep. But I answered the call and Simon said ‘there are two clubs interested in you.
“First he told me a story about Brentford – and then he suddenly shouted ‘Wout, United want you!’ I dropped the phone and burst into tears.”
He said a close relationship with Besiktas’ sporting director allowed him to switch from the Turkish league to the Red Devils: “My relationship with Besiktas’ sporting director was very good and I explained to him that it was my boyhood dream to play for Manchester United.
“He said he understood, but Besiktas kept coming up with more and more financial offers. I won’t mention any amounts, but believe me when I say that I lost a lot to make the transfer possible.”
Weghorst explained that his emotions came to the fore when he watched his new club play for the first time against Manchester City: “I entered that magical stadium for the first time in my life and when I sat down in my seat, looked around and took in the chanting of the fans, it hit me hard.
“That was the moment when I realised this is my club now. Then I watched one of the greatest football matches on earth. Of course, I had dreamed about this as a young boy. But to see it actually happen made me shiver.” More
