Solskjaer’s son insists ‘I always get food, I can assure you’ in response to Man Utd boss’s bizarre Tottenham row

OLE GUNNAR SOLSKJAER’S son has hilariously revealed he ‘always gets food’ following the bizarre row between his dad and Jose Mourinho. The Manchester United boss accused Son Heung-min of conning officials to get Edinson Cavani’s strike chalked off by going down too easily under a flailing arm from Scott McTominay.

Seething Solskjaer said: “If my son stayed down for three minutes and he needed ten mates to help him up, he wouldn’t get any food.
“The game has gone — absolutely gone.”
But former United boss Mourinho hit back as the row escalated when he told reporters: “I just want to say Sonny’s very lucky that his father is a better person than Ole.”
But speaking to Norwegian newspaper Tidens Krav, thankfully Ole’s son Noah, 20, has insisted he doesn’t go hungry.
The Kristiansund BK player said: “Yes, I laughed a lot on Sunday too.
“I always get food, I can assure everyone about that.
“[Teammate] Max [Williamsen] asked me if I had been given food when he met me before training today.
“I have never been lying down the way Son did. Mourinho probably just wanted to take the focus away from the fact they had lost.”

Cavani thought he had given United the lead when he slotted home in the 33rd minute.
But referee Chris Kavanagh ruled it out after VAR advised him to check the pitchside monitor.
It looked a harsh decision and the Red Devils were further incensed when the South Korean fired Spurs ahead seven minutes later.
Old Trafford manager Solskjaer — despite his side’s sterling second-half comeback — was still angry about the incident afterwards.
The Norwegian said in a television interview moments after the final whistle: “It was a perfectly good goal. We weren’t conned, the referee was.”
Cavani got his goal in the end, and further strikes from Fred and sub Mason Greenwood gave United a 3-1 victory.

Man Utd’s Jesse Lingard ‘wanted by Real Madrid, PSG and Inter Milan’ after reviving career on loan transfer at West Ham

JESSE LINGARD’S remarkable resurgence could earn the midfielder a move to Real Madrid, according to reports. The LaLiga giants are named as one of several clubs keeping an eye on the England international’s stunning form for West Ham.

Since joining the Hammers on loan in January, he has tallied eight goals and four assists – losing just one of his nine games.
That has elevated him to the radars of Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan, as reported by ESPN.
Champions League football is said to be Lingard’s desire for next season.
United surprised many when extending his contract until June 2022 in December.
But it means the club will hold sway over a potentially lucrative sale this summer, or award the academy product a fresh run in the side.
A permanent move to West Ham is also an option, but the 28-year-old reportedly has no interest in being used as a makeweight in a deal for skipper Declan Rice.
The Hammers are hoping to offer Champions League football next season having returned to the top-four and beaten third-placed Leicester in the past week.
Talks over a transfer are yet to take place with SunSport revealing Arsenal are also among those keen on the England international.

Lingard has earned huge praise for his form while Manchester United contemplate their next move.
Gary Neville believes it is a win-win scenario for the club and former Red, Andy Cole, reckons cashing in is the right move.
Ex-defender Neville told his Sky Sports podcast: “We know he’s a good player.
“United have a big decision to make. Do they cash in and get good money for him, and then replenish the squad in an area they want to, and bring in extra quality?
“Or do they think he’s part of a good 23-man squad? He can’t lose with the decision, [Ole Gunnar] Solskjaer.
“Lingard’s value has gone up, Jesse is enjoying himself, so he either comes back to United and plays a big part in a title challenge, or he gets a good move, United get the money for him, and they can use that money to spend elsewhere.
What I give Jesse credit for is he’s turned up without much football at United.Roy Keane
“I don’t think United or Lingard can lose, it’s a win-win for both parties.”
While Cole told talkSPORT: “I think if I was Manchester United, I would move him on.
“And if I was Jesse I would want to go and play games. Definitely.”
Roy Keane credited Lingard with staying in top condition despite a lack of playing time at Old Trafford.

The Irishman said on the weekend: “He’s been outstanding.
“What I give Jesse credit for is he’s turned up without much football at United.
“He obviously kept himself in good shape which is the sign of a good pro. He maybe took his eye off the ball off the field, but he always had that talent and it’s great to see it.”

Man Utd led by Leicester in Boubakary Soumare transfer race as Tottenham also keep tabs on 22-year-old Lille midfielder

LEICESTER are reportedly ‘confident’ of beating Manchester United and Tottenham to the signature of Boubakary Soumare. The Frenchman, 22, has been a key part of Lille’s title bid with the Ligue 1 leaders three points clear of Paris Saint-Germain.

Having made a name for himself at Stade Pierre-Mauroy after leaving PSG as a youngster, he has aroused the interest of several teams.
Newcastle failed with a £35million bid for Soumare in the January of last year.
And Premier League outfit Leicester are the latest to make their interest known with just over a year left on his contract.
According to the Star, the Foxes are hunting down a deal worth around £30m.
Bolstering the side for Champions League football will be a priority for Brendan Rodgers’ side, if they qualify for the competition.
Sunday’s 3-2 defeat to West Ham left the team on the brink of losing their top-four spot, with similarities to last season’s collapse.

Soumare, who has over 100 appearances for Lille and 12 for France Under-21s, is also said to be catching the eye of United and Spurs.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could be preparing for a busy summer window with a new centre-back and striker hotly tipped to be arriving.
While Jose Mourinho have been linked with a surprise move for Marouane Fellaini amid their hunt for a midfielder.
Soumare rejected a move out of Lille in January and boss Christophe Galtier praised how the player has dealt with speculation over his future.

The 54-year-old said in February: “At every transfer window, we talk about him.
“I know that he was in demand this winter, but he was very clear with the president, he wants to continue with us.
“The competition, the transfer window, the situation has not always been easy for him, but I think he has greater clarity in his mind.”

Roy Keane slams ‘dreadful’ Fred despite Man Utd ace scoring first Prem goal in over two years at Tottenham

ROY KEANE was less than impressed with Fred’s performance against Tottenham on Sunday, despite a rare goal for the Brazilian. With Manchester United a goal down in North London, the midfielder popped up to poke home a rebound for the leveller.

It was his first Premier League goal in over two years, having last scored against Wolves in September 2018.
Since then, Fred, 28, had fired off 73 shots to no avail but could hardly have missed Sunday’s open goal.
Yet United legend Keane felt he was likely to MISS the opportunity, and credited everyone but Fred for the goal as Edinson Cavani, Bruno Fernandes, and weak Spurs defending played a role.
The 49-year-old told Sky Sports: “Just as well Fred scored – I thought he was dreadful.
“I don’t know what people are talking about, saying he played well. I thought he was dreadful.
“But again good link-up play from United – what they’re good at. Quick play. One-two in and around the box. Poor defending from Tottenham and Fred on the spot.

“I thought he was even going to miss, but lovely movement from United.
“Lovely little play [from] Fernandes, this is what good players do – quick play, clever play, intelligent play.
“Keeper maybe could have done better, defenders with their hands up in the air. Slow.
“But just good movement from Cavani, lovely goal and United never looked back after this.”
The stats suggested Fred was a key player in the 3-1 win for the Red Devils.
He provided the most passes (73), passes in the opposition half (43) and touches (96) of any player on the pitch, as well as the goal.

Cavani and Mason Greenwood completed the comeback to secure the points.
Before the game, Keane took aim at Tottenham as ‘soft’ and clashed with fellow pundit Jamie Redknapp on the state of the club.
And the Irishman didn’t even spare Jesse Lingard from his trademark criticism.
After the loanee’s brace against Leicester, Keane hilariously handed out a 1/10 for his ‘Bacardi and coke’ dance celebration.

The man raced across the Estadio Nuevo Los Carmenes pitch before taking a tumble and being arrested by police.
But it would not have taken long for the authorities to identify the perpetrator, who has reportedly been arrested 15 TIMES in the last few months alone.
Garcia, 37, is something of a local celebrity in Granada and is often seen baring all on his walks around the city.
In the summer of 2016, he was inspired to live life in the buff during a trip across the Americas.
And this way of life culminated in Thursday’s demonstration that took some time to prepare.
According to Granada newspaper Ideal, he snuck into the ground at 9am on the day of the game and hid under a tarpaulin for 14 HOURS before emerging once the game had kicked off.

The game, played behind closed doors, was briefly paused before Manchester United saw out a 2-0 win.
Garcia has previously spoken of being met with angry responses from passers-by in the streets, and does occasionally dress up.
The Europa League outing will have been somewhat familiar territory for the nudist as he runs a sports nutrition business.
And he explained to Ideal in 2016 his passion for environmentalism, sustainability and world peace.

He said: “I had always thought about doing it, but never had the courage and confidence.
“Going naked has psychological benefits. It is a way to claim purity, peace, to show that when you take off your clothes you are more sincere with everything that surrounds you.

Man Utd star Bruno Fernandes ‘fooled referee’ by ‘making a meal’ of incident that led to penalty, says Paul Scholes

BRUNO FERNANDES was ‘lucky’ to win a penalty for Manchester United in Thursday’s win over Granada, Paul Scholes has said. The former midfielder, 46, did not believe the Portuguese playmaker was fouled enough for him to go down in the area.

But he pointed the finger at referee Artur Soares Dias for ‘falling for’ Fernandes’ tumble.
With the score at 1-0, he hit the deck after a tangle with Yan Brice and stepped up to squeeze the spot-kick home.
United legend Scholes told BT Sport, via the Mail: “[Fernandes] makes a meal of it I think he’s lucky to get the penalty.
“Lucky to score it as well as the goalkeeper should do better.
“You know when it’s given and it goes to VAR [that] they’re going to give it because it’s not a clear and obvious error and he has touched him, so there’s no way they were going to overturn it.
“Fernandes does very well to get the penalty, they’ll be very disappointed.

“He was just feeling where his player is and the ball’s nowhere near him anyway.
“It was always [Edinson] Cavani going to get the header. Fernandes was very clever and he’s fooled the referee and he’s fell for it.”
The second goal in the Europa League quarter-final first leg could prove vital as the tie heads to Old Trafford next week.
United will host Granada with a two-goal advantage but Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw and Scott McTominay are all suspended.
Bruno’s eye is red and to score with one eye open is also a skill.Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer defended Fernandes after the win and insisted he was injured in the collision – adding that he scored the penalty ‘with one eye’.
The manager told reporters: “I haven’t seen it.
“I’ve just seen his eye when he came off, he got hit. Mike Phelan was sat behind me in the dugout and said he took one in the face.
“His eye is red and to score with one eye open is also a skill.”

Scholes believes Man Utd WILL splash out £150m on Erling Haaland transfer and only Chelsea can afford to rival them

PAUL SCHOLES has backed Manchester United to sign Erling Haaland this summer.Borussia Dortmund have put a £150million price tag on the strike sensation, leading Scholes to believe that only United or Chelsea can afford him.

Barcelona and Real Madrid have already held talks with the 20-year-old’s entourage, while Manchester City have also been linked.
But Scholes, 46, does not believe the LaLiga giants have the finances to pull off the deal.
And he also doubted Pep Guardiola’s desire to spend big on a striker.
Asked about a United bid on BT Sport, the former midfielder explained: “I think they probably would, why not?
“I think it’s about the club who can pay for him. I don’t think there’s too many of them.
“You think of Real Madrid and Barcelona, all the noises you hear.
“They probably couldn’t pay that type of money.
“Man City look like they don’t want to pay that type of money.

“To be fair, they very rarely play with a No9 anyway. Even with [Sergio] Aguero and Gabriel Jesus, he’s hardly played them.
“So is that the type of player that Guardiola wants? I’m not sure it is.
“It’s a player United will be desperate for, Chelsea will be desperate for.
“They’re probably the two clubs who I think could probably afford it this summer.”
However, fellow former Premier League player Jamie O’Hara has told United they will struggle to sign the Norwegian.
Paul Pogba’s situation was used by the ex-Tottenham star to outline how Haaland may be nervy about joining a team short on trophies.

He told talkSPORT: “Look at Pogba. They paid £100million for him and he’s gone they’re thinking we’re going to the next level.
“And it hasn’t worked. He’s been almost trophyless.
“Haaland’s not going to Manchester United where it will be, ‘We might win something, we might not’.
“He’s going somewhere where he is winning everything.”
