He could leave for nothing in June 2023 or, if the Bundesliga giants decide to cash in, possibly go this summer.
A number of clubs are beginning to circle – and now the Red Devils seem to have joined the chase.
That is according to 90 mins, who state there is ‘concrete’ interest from Old Trafford and the Premier League in Lewandowski.
Bayern Munich are believed to be lining up a swoop for Dortmund hotshot Erling Haaland as a replacement.
They will face a major fight to secure the Norwegian as Paris Saint Germain, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Chelsea and Manchester City are among those who have shown an interest.
Lewandowski’s agents are now considering their options in case Bayern do decide to sell the superstar this summer.

And this latest report also states that United have asked to be kept informed about his situation.
But they are not the only club looking to bring Lewandowski to England after we reported Arsenal were eyeing a swoop earlier this week.
And they would face fierce competition for his signature as Atletico Madrid became another team linked with a move.
Both Chelsea and Real Madrid are also keen on the ex-Dortmund star.
It has also previously been claimed that he wants to test himself in another top league while still in his pomp.
He has been crowned Fifa’s best player for the past two years and remained non-committal on his future after helping his team win at Frankfurt last weekend.
Lewandowski told Sky Sports in Germany: “I am open to everything. I’m quiet.
“It is important for me to be able to focus on my game, always on what can happen in the last match.
“Everything that remains to be done regarding the contracts is a secondary issue and remains in the background.”

Pep Guardiola says ‘it’s been a joy to watch’ Cristiano Ronaldo despite ‘unstoppable’ Man Utd ace playing for his rivals

PEP GUARDIOLA says Manchester City need to find a way to halt the ‘unstoppable goal-scoring machine’ that is Cristiano Ronaldo on Sunday. The Portuguese legend has endured a difficult start to 2022, scoring just once in the calendar year so far.

But City weighed up the possibility of signing the veteran from Juventus before he returned to Old Trafford in August.
And Guardiola has admitted he is a big admirer, saying: “As a finisher he’s exceptional, I’m not going to disguise it was a joy to watch him these years.
“We have to explode our game, our strength to avoid Cristiano close to the box, because there he is almost unstoppable.
“When you are one of the greatest that he was in terms of being a goalscoring machine, you will always be there.
“He is so strong mentally. He handled pressure without a problem because he lived with expectation through his career and always responded in a positive way.”
While City dominated the derby at Old Trafford in November and ran out 2-0 winners, Ronaldo almost turned the game on its head.

Rice’s current deal with the club runs out in June 2024 – with no talks so far to extend.
And the England international has hinted yet again his future may lie away from the club after admitting he sees himself as one of the best players in the world.
Asked about his desire to win trophies and play in the Champions League, Rice said: “It is as urgent as possible. I feel like, not only for me, that’s for every young player as well.
“I see friends that are close to me, big players winning big trophies. You want to be a part of that. You want to be remembered in this career for what you’ve won.
“I feel like I am one of the established top players around the world. I am only 23.
“But in terms of my playing ability and the way I’ve performed consistently, I see myself as an established player now who’s got good experience and can play at any level if required.

“We are really close with West Ham at the minute and last season it was gutting to lose out on it but we are pushing.
“We’ll keep going. Champions League is a big aim of mine and hopefully one day I can play in it, and these moments I am having now can spur me on to be even better.”
West Ham are currently fifth – two points behind Man United in fourth – but the top four looks out of their control with Arsenal and Tottenham having games in hand.
Moyes’ men also came close last season before finishing sixth – and Rice has been a key figure for both club and country in recent seasons.
He lifted the Player of the Year at the London Football Awards on Thursday evening – three years after picking up the Young Player of the Year title.
    £100MILLION VALUATION
Asked about his £100m valuation, Rice added: “You hear those numbers and for me it is crazy. All I can do is go out there and perform, regardless of the price tag.
“I just need to focus on playing well and performing at the best level I can.”
Rice revealed in an interview with Gary Neville on ‘The Overlap’ that he would like to remain in the capital – specifically near his family in west London.
He was brought up a Blues fan and was in their academy – alongside best pal Mason Mount – and his release before joining West Ham still acts as a motivator.
Rice said: “I was released by Chelsea at 14, that was a setback. I was nearly released by West Ham at 16, that was nearly a setback.
“I’ve had big games where we’ve lost, like the Euros final with England. It really spurs you on to want to improve.” More

Man Utd target world-class centre-back transfer ‘throwing Harry Maguire and two other defenders’ futures into doubt’

HARRY MAGUIRE’S future at Manchester United is reportedly in doubt as the club plot a swoop to sign a ‘world-class’ centre back.Stories emerged on Thursday that the captain’s team-mates are questioning why he is continually picked by interim boss Ralf Rangnick despite some poor displays.

Fresh doubts over the captain’s future have now been raisedCredit: Getty
The 28-year-old was rested for the draw with Watford and replaced by Victor Lindelof but looks set to return to the side for Sunday’s Manchester Derby.
Rangnick has supported his skipper publicly and insisted he will not take the armband off him.
However, the Daily Mail states that a ‘new centre-back will be high on United’s list of targets’ in the summer transfer window.
Chelsea star Antonio Rudiger becomes a free agent in June and the Red Devils are targeting the German.
Barcelona’s Uruguayan ace Ronald Araujo is another potential option while United have also been linked with Dortmund’s Manuel Akanji.
And it is not only Maguire that will be looking over his shoulder amid the club’s search for defensive improvements.

‘Sancho and Rashford not good enough’ – Anthony Elanga is only winger at Man Utd who can play as striker, says Parker

And the 57-year old former full-back claims that team-mates Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho aren’t ‘good enough’ to play up top.
He told bettingexpert: “I think Elanga is the only one you can play as a striker or false nine.
“It does need a change. I’m trying to think of someone but Elanga out of all the wide players is the one who’s done really well.
“The other two, Sancho and Rashford, just haven’t been good enough so far.
    “We’ve seen already, they haven’t got a focal point, they haven’t got a centre-forward.”
The ex-England defender also warned that the Red Devils shouldn’t tinker with the 19-year-old’s position whilst things are working out.

“You try not to put him in the limelight too much – ‘he’s gonna be the next this, he’s gonna be the next that’ – for all of a sudden, for too much going and it all falls apart, before he’s even evolved.
“A bit like what’s happened to Rashford.
“Elanga, you don’t want to put the onus on him, you don’t want his game to collapse cause all of a sudden he’s out of position and if it isn’t going right, he might think ‘oh, I’m better off out wide, I was playing good out there.'”
Neither Sancho and Rashford started in the drab 0-0 draw with relegation-threatened Watford last weekend, but both came off the bench.

Cristiano Ronaldo set to start for Man Utd against City despite goal drought with Rangnick hoping for return to form

RALF RANGNICK will stick with under-fire Cristiano Ronaldo for Sunday’s Manchester derby despite his goal drought. The United boss is hopeful that a week’s rest will have helped re-energise the footballing veteran who has just one goal from his last ten games.
Cristiano Ronaldo was a frustrated figure as he and Man Utd fired blanks against Watford but is still tipped to start at the Etihad
Marcus Rashford is an alternative to Cristiano Ronaldo but is short of confidence
Ronaldo, at 37, started his fifth game in 15 days last Saturday as the Red Devils fought out a goalless draw with Watford.
The veteran frontman missed a host of chances.
Rangnick, however, explained afterwards that he had few options but to play him.
Marcus Rashford could be an option for Sunday’s trip to The Etihad with Jadon Sancho and Anthony Elanga either side of him.
    But Rashford’s confidence looks shot.
Edinson Cavani has been complaining of a groin problem that has kept him out of action but he could be available.

Creating chances has not been the problem in the Premier League.
In the 13 games under Rangnick United have created 160 chances, more than any other club in that period, but only 20 goals have come from them.
Still Rangnick has faith that super-fit Ronaldo can find his scoring boots again.
The same boots that hit 14 goals in 20 games before his recent poor run.
His recent form, however, has brought into question whether he will stay at United for a second season having signed a two-year contract on his return.
SunSport has already revealed that the player himself will want to leave if the club finish outside the Champions League places.
There is an argument that his return to the club affected Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s long term planning having finished the previous season in second place
A number of the younger players have felt intimidated by him.
Interim chief Ralf Rangnick is set to keep faith with Cristiano Ronaldo
They feel they have to pass to him when he demands the ball and are concerned as to his reaction if they make a mistake.
The problem Solskjaer had was, how could he let him go to Manchester City?
He could be up to 20 goals by now for them in what is a much better team prompting criticism as to why United did not use their emotional pull to bring him back to Old Trafford where he first made his name.
It promises to be a red hot atmosphere for him on the blue side of the city on Sunday having turned down the Champions bid to land him.
It’s a crucial clash for both sides with City chasing the title and United in a battle for the top four.
City are currently six points ahead of second-placed Liverpool who have a game in hand.
United are clinging on to fourth spot by two points ahead of West Ham and Arsenal.
While the Hammers have played the same amount of games as United, Arsenal have three in hand.

Man Utd ‘launch transfer bid for Manuel Akanji’ as Dortmund start looking at replacement defenders

MANCHESTER UNITED have reportedly made an offer for Borussia Dortmund’s Manuel Akanji. The Switzerland international has caught the eye after a string of good performances in the Bundesliga.

Akanji’s current contract expires in 2023, meaning Dortmund could be forced to sell this summer in order to yield maximum profit.
German outlet SportBILD previously reported that he could be sold for as little as £20million at the end of the season.
Now the same publication has claimed that the defender has an ‘offer from Manchester United on the table’.
Interim Red Devils boss Ralf Rangnick is believed to be a big fan of the ace and wants to bring him to Old Trafford.
Dortmund though are keen for the 26-year-old to agree fresh terms.
But his reported £160,000-a-week demands, double his current salary, could price Dortmund out of an extension.

Freiburg’s Nico Schlotterbeck and Marseille’s Boubacar Kamara are both being targeted by Dortmund to fill the void should Akanji depart.
Any potential move could spell trouble for United captain Harry Maguire.
The England centre-back has come under massive scrutiny for his displays this term.
Question marks have been raised over his ability at the very top level and a swoop for Akanji would suggest he would be seen as a replacement for the ex-Leicester City man.

Barcelona have also been invited alongside Ronaldo and Messi’s new sides.
Spanish outlet SPORT have reported that Barca are looking at the competition Down Under as a chance to ‘strengthen the club’s current economic situation’.
The report adds that Manchester United and PSG are waiting to see how their seasons pans out before making any decisions on their pre-season plans.
There have been reports that Manchester United will play Liverpool in Bangkok on July 12.
Any tour abroad would be the Red Devils’ first in three years due to the Covid pandemic.
Collette Roche, chief operating officer at United, said: “We’re in the final stages of planning for our pre-season tour, we expect to confirm destination and opponents soon.”

The prospect of a meeting between Ronaldo and Messi is sure to generate excitement.
Portuguese hero Ronaldo, 37, returned to Old Trafford in the summer in a dramatic transfer.
Whilst 34-year-old Argentine Messi headed to the French capital, leaving Barcelona after 18 years at the Nou Camp.
This season has been somewhat frustrating for both superstars with their respective teams.
Man Utd are not going to win the Premier League, and are already out of both cups meaning Ron’s only chance of silverware is the Champions League.
Messi has had injury woes at PSG, however, they are well on course for their tenth Ligue 1 crown.
They also remain in the Champions League, holding a 1-0 advantage over Real Madrid ahead of their Last 16 second leg meeting in Spain.
Ronaldo and Messi were actually drawn against each other in the Champions League last-16 before a redraw was announced when Uefa realised they had fluffed the original.
If their respective teams progress in this year’s tournament, they could yet face each other in the later stages of this season’s competition.
The duo have faced each other 36 times in their prestigious careers, with Messi currently having the edge over CR7.
The diminutive magician has beaten Ronaldo 16 times out of their 36 meetings so far, with nine draws.
The Portugal captain has come out on top in the other nine clashes between the two phenoms of the game.
Meanwhile, Rangers and Celtic have confirmed that they will face each other in the first ever international Old Firm fixture in Australia this November.
