Man Utd eye Atalanta winger Amad Traore, 18, as shock transfer replacement for Jadon Sancho as deal stalls

MANCHESTER UNITED are eyeing Atalanta winger Amad Traore as a shock alternative to Jadon Sancho, according to reports.
A deal for the Dortmund winger has stalled and has left the Premier League club looking elsewhere.

    2

Amad Traore is attracting the interest of Man United and other clubs in Europe18-year-old Traore is seen as a big prospect and was a part of the Champions League squad for Atalanta’s quarter-final tie against Paris Saint-Germain.
The Manchester Evening News report that the Red Devils have contacted the Italians as other clubs become interested in the teen.
But MEN suggest he is not seen by club sources as an immediate Sancho substitute.
Despite the interest, the right-sided midfielder only achieved 30 minutes on the pitch in Serie A last season.

He did make a big impact in his first appearance, however, when he became the youngest player, at 17 years and 109 days old, to score on his league debut as Atalanta crushed Udinese 7-1.
This dynamite start was only rewarded with two further senior appearances.
In the Under 19 team, where he was a regular, Traore hit seven goals and 11 assists in 24 games.
Along with Man United, rivals Manchester City are rumoured to also be keen.

Arsenal and Juventus are also believed to be admirers in the youngsters.
If Atalanta can fend off the European giants, he has been linked with a loan move to Parma.
Meanwhile, Manchester United’s move for Sancho continues to go nowhere fast.
The English international played in Dortmund’s 5-0 German Cup rout over MSV Duisburg on Monday, where ex-United target Jude Belligham also scored.

United are believed to have made progress over Sancho’s wages and agents’ fees but the Bundesliga side are still holding out for £108million to allow the player to leave.
Old Trafford chiefs are working frantically to try and bring that valuation down as they are unwilling to splash the cash post-covid.
Another potential Sancho replacement target, Gareth Bale, appears to be on his way to Tottenham who are edging ahead in the race for the Real Madrid man.

How Man Utd could line up against Crystal Palace on Saturday as Solskjaer faces being without ELEVEN players

OLE GUNNAR SOLSKJAER faces a serious selection headache with ELEVEN doubts ahead of Manchester United’s season opener.
Crystal Palace come to Old Trafford for a 5.30pm kick-off on Saturday after the Red Devils’ start was delayed due to last season’s Europa League run.

    2

How Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side could line up without the eleven doubts

With the ill-fated semi-final against Sevilla just under five weeks ago, preparation time has been cut short.
Fitness concerns after only a week’s training, coupled with a bout of Nations League ties, has hampered the United boss.
Guaranteed to miss out is centre-back Axel Tuanzebe, who remains on the mend after suffering an injury in July.
Mason Greenwood looks unlikely to play after being told to train alone since his England fiasco.

The striker, 18, was sent home by the national team after breaking Covid-19 restrictions by, together with Phil Foden, inviting two Icelandic girls into the squad hotel.
Several other players have only arrived for training in recent days.
Bruno Fernandes touched down in Carrington at the weekend before Monday saw the return of Paul Pogba, Juan Mata, Fred, Eric Bailly and Nemanja Matic.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka also began his pre-season at the start of the week after a trip to Dubai caught the right-back on the wrong side of the Government’s quarantine guidelines.

    2

Manchester United’s possible XI if the manager takes a fitness gamble
Fellow defender Phil Jones is also a fitness doubt while Sergio Romero has not yet returned for training after being relegated to third-choice goalkeeper.
That could force Solskjaer into starting Daniel James and Jesse Lingard at Old Trafford.
Academy product Lingard, 27, could partner Scott McTominay and new signing Donny van de Beek in the centre of the park.
Wantaway full-back Diogo Dalot is in line to start with Luke Shaw, Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof in defence.

Up front, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial are set to be fit enough to start after the England forward skipped his country’s games – citing a lack of fitness.
Fans also eagerly await the decision between the posts with both David De Gea and Dean Henderson fit and available for selection.
Solskjaer will be desperate for improvement after a 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa in their only pre-season friendly.

    5

Bukayo Saka is also among the most-improved stars of this year’s release

Both Greenwood, 18, and Saka, 19, have received double-figure boosts after announcing themselves to the footballing world.
With his primary position down as a right-midfielder, Greenwood comes in at 77, including 81 for pace and 78 for shooting.
That marks a 10-point upgrade for the England international, the same increase given to Saka.
The Arsenal wide-man now rates 75 with 84 for pace also his best asset, before a 77 for dribbling.

Top of the pile for FIFA 21’s most improved players is Serie A breakout star Marash Kumbulla, up by 15.
A relative unknown when promoted into the first-team of Hellas Verona last summer, the centre-back was highly impressive in his rookie year.
At 20, Albanian international Kumbulla is reportedly being watched by Tottenham, Chelsea, Manchester United and Roma.
New Juventus winger Dejan Kulusevski is bumped up by 13 along with Mexican youngster Sebastian Cordova.

And there is little surprise to see Erling Haaland among the most-boosted stars, the Borussia Dortmund hitman rising by 11 to a strong rating of 84.

With United’s pre-season now fully underway, Pogba tested negative and was able to head back into Carrington at the end of the week.
The 27-year-old was driven into work in a black Mercedes people carrier, sitting behind a masked-up chauffeur.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is said to have big plans for Pogba as he formulates a side with new signing Donny van de Beek.

With the Red Devils’ Premier League opener postponed, they will instead face Aston Villa in a friendly on Saturday.
Whether the World Cup winning midfielder will be involved at Villa Park remains to be seen.

Man Utd joined by Everton in Hirving Lozano transfer race with Ancelotti ‘launching offer to Napoli in next few hours’

EVERTON are reportedly ready to continue their spending spree by rivalling Manchester United for Hirving Lozano.

According to CalcioMercato, Carlo Ancelotti’s side are preparing a bid in the coming hours.
The Toffees boss was busy unveiling James Rodriguez to the media on Thursday afternoon after the Colombian’s move from Real Madrid.
Everton have splashed around £55m on signings this summer with Ancelotti praising the club’s “fantastic job” in the transfer department.
Abdoulaye Doucoure, young left-back Niels Nkounkou and Napoli midfielder Allan have also arrived.

And Goodison Park bosses are set to get back on the phone to Italy to thrash out a deal for Lozano.
Despite a return of just five goals and two assists in his debut year at Napoli, the 25-year-old is still highly rated.

Reports in Italy named United as one interested party in the forward.
Lozano is apparently seen as a potentially key marketing asset in North America, as well as a solid member of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s attack.

Chris Smalling nears £18m Roma transfer after missing Man Utd pre-season to finalise deal following stunning loan spell

ROMA are reportedly on the verge of signing Manchester United defender Chris Smalling on a permanent basis.
The centre-back, 30, has been absent from the Red Devils’ pre-season training this week while he finalises the move.

    1

According to the Telegraph, a deal is now close and expected to be worth in the region of £18million.
Smalling has appeared at Carrington this month but is said to have not taken part in first-team sessions.
Speculation over his future has persisted all summer, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer talking up the player’s “value” to United.
Despite over 300 games for United and a tally of 31 caps for England, he was largely considered a spent force at the top-level when sent on loan to Roma a year ago.

In 37 appearances for the Serie A side, Smalling showed he still has plenty left in the tank and became affectionately known as ‘Smaldini’ in Italy.
A permanent stay in Rome has long been described as his preferred option.
However, the Giallorossi are hardly flushed with cash and have been hard at work negotiating down United’s valuation.
Aleksandar Kolarov was allowed to leave for Inter Milan this week and Alessandro Florenzi is nearing a loan-to-buy move to Paris-Saint Germain.

It had appeared that Smalling had a future in Manchester after Solskjaer spoke of his encouragement at the defender’s loan spell.
The manager stated: “I think Chris has shown over his Manchester United career how valuable he is at Manchester United.
“This season was about him being a regular and going to Roma and showing how good a centre-back he is, I wanted to give Harry [Maguire], Victor [Lindelof] and maybe Axel [Tuanzebe] a chance.
“It was best for him to go and play for a year in Roma and he has shown he will be valuable, I’ve been speaking to Chris throughout. I’ve been delighted with his season.”

Man Utd fans go wild as teen star Hannibal Mejbri scores and makes incredible assists in 6-0 drubbing of Salford

MANCHESTER UNITED’S kids put League Two Salford to the sword thanks to a star performance from Hannibal Mejbri.
The frizzy-haired Frenchman opened the scoring with a fine strike before setting up two more in the 6-0 rout.

The Red Devils snapped up Mejbri, 17, from Monaco last year in a deal reportedly worth around £9million.
Such a fee raised expectations of the midfielder and fans were again hyped about the prospect after this showing on Wednesday night.
Mejbri took control of an eighth-minute goal scramble to curl a stunning effort into the top-corner at Moor Lane.
A whipped free-kick from the teenager was then turned home by Mark Helm for 3-0, before Mejbri helped wrap up the scoring.

Arguably the pass of the night came from the Parisian, who slotted the ball through the defence for Anthony Elanga to run on and score.
The display left United fans dreaming of the prospect following in Mason Greenwood’s shoes and making a first-team impact in the coming campaign.
One supporter’s Twitter account stated: “This is why they let Gomes go. Mejbri will be incredible player for Utd and Ole perfect manager to bring him through. Expect him to get minutes in League Cup this season.”
Robbo tweeted: “1 goal & 2 assists vs. Salford at 17 years old. Hannibal Mejbri is a magician.”

Saeed added: “People only hearing about Hannibal Mejbri. He’s been doing it! Future star.”
Another fan wrote: “You get the feeling that Hannibal Mejbri will be the next big breakthrough from the United academy. He was absolutely sensational against Salford City last night. Unreal talent.”
And one Red Devil posted: “Imagine if Mengi and Mejbri have a Mason Greenwood ‘breakthrough’ season.”
Mejbri is set for a season with United’s Under-23s having stuck with the Under-18s squad in 2019/20.
U23s coach Neil Wood has attempted to take the spotlight off the French starlet, although performances like this will make that a tough job.
Wood stated last month: “I think what you need to remember is Hannibal is still a young lad, he is only 17.

“He’s not long been here really, he is probably coming up to almost a first completed season if that.
“I think people get sucked into the price tag, and again that is not Hannibal’s fault.
“So I think he is a young player with potential, he is one of the young players we have got with potential, but there is still a lot of development and learning which needs to be put into him.”

Solskjaer reveals he had been tracking Man Utd new boy Van de Beek for 5 years after impressive first training session

OLE GUNNAR SOLSKJAER has revealed his five-year long admiration for Donny van de Beek before the Dutch star joined Manchester United.
The midfielder cost £39million from Ajax and underwent his first training session at Carrington on Wednesday.

For Solskjaer, van de Beek has been one to watch for a number of years having bagged his first Ajax goal against the Norwegian.
A forthright header past Molde in December 2015 was not one the United boss forgot quickly, particularly as it bruised his defender.
Solskjaer told Football Daily Podcast: “I have actually followed Donny, his first goal he scored was against me, my team Molde, in the Europa League in 2015.
“We drew 1-1 at the Amsterdam Arena and he scored a fantastic header.

“He actually headbutted my centre-back at the time as well, so he was brave! Very brave!
“I’ve liked his infectious attitude, when you have a smile on your face. When you see players with that drive and desire.
“I’ve spoken to Edwin van der Sar, other players that know him, you just use the people you know and trust to scout that character.
“When someone scores against you, you’ll always remember it… You remember the goals you concede more than the ones you score, as a coach.

    3

“I just remember a cross and he beats my centre-back and it loops over our keeper at the beginning of the game.”
Solskjaer and club captain Harry Maguire posed for pictures with the 23-year-old as he pulled on the club training kit for the first time.
Fans have speculated where the manager will fit van de Beek into his system with Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba starring at the end of last season.
But Solskjaer, 47, is confident in his new signing’s character and his ability to hit the back of the net.
He noted: “We’ve signed Donny and he’s a type of player I felt we needed in the squad.
“He’s the type of person that will fit the culture, fit the team and improve us next season and for years to come.

He added: “He’s a versatile player, a very intelligent, clever player. He’s got loads of energy, enthusiasm, developing all the time.
“He scores goals – we need to add goals from midfield. Our forwards scored quite a few goals last season, Bruno came in and scored goals but we need goals throughout the squad because we didn’t score enough to be challenging at the top.
“He will add his creativity, his reading of the game, his understanding of the game because he can see space and arrive at the right time, the timing of his movement is fantastic.”
