The Portuguese star, 37, was seen storming down the tunnel at Old Trafford as his side led 2-0 with injury time still to play.
It later emerged Ronaldo didn’t even go to the dressing room, instead opting to leave the stadium before the final whistle had even blown.
And he has now been accused of REFUSING to come off the bench against Antonio Conte’s side in a clear act of defiance.
Boss Erik ten Hag warned Ronaldo last night that he was ready to take action.

And the Dutchman has shown he’s not all talk by axing the forward from United’s squad for this weekend’s game against Chelsea.
A statement from the Red Devils confirmed: “Cristiano will not be part of the Manchester United squad for this Saturday’s game against Chelsea.
“The rest of the squad is fully focused on preparing for that fixture.”
Meanwhile, the Athletic adds Ronaldo will also train by himself after taking the shine off United’s best performance of the season so far.

The strong reaction, which could still see further punishment including a possible fine, appears to show the club have backed Ten Hag in the row.
Goals from Fred and Bruno Fernandes saw United record a famous win over title-chasers Tottenham.
And fans were left buzzing after a high-energy performance from all 11 players on the pitch.
However, there was no sign of Ronaldo as Ten Hag made several changes late on.
Supporters were then left shocked as the club legend was seen making his way down the tunnel despite the clock only being in the 89th minute.
And Ten Hag was far from pleased when asked about the incident afterwards.
He said: “We will deal with that on Thursday. I saw him leaving but I didn’t speak to him after.

Man Utd verdict: Darts fan Fernandes finally hits the Bullseye with beauty as he reminds Red Devils he can be main man

BRUNO FERNANDES revealed he enjoys a game of darts with his team mates now he has become an adopted Mancunian. And on the football field he finally hit the Bullseye with a second half beauty – to put an indifferent past few weeks behind him.
Darts lover Bruno Fernandes hit the Bullseye vs Spurs with a goal in Man Utd’s 2-0 winCredit: AFP
Just one goal and one assist in the first nine Premier League matches suggested that – like many an amateur darts player – he needs to work on his finishing.
Yet his curling effort 20 minutes from time here after Fred’s shot was blocked by Eric Dier was perfectly flighted.
The sensational start he made to life in England back in January 2020 has felt like a long time ago.
Fernandes provided 29 goals and 19 assists during his first 53 Premier League appearances after joining from Sporting Lisbon.

But following the departure of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer almost a year ago, the 28-year-old has lost his way.
Some United fans have wondered if playing alongside his fellow Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo really suits him.
Yet he was given a glowing endorsement from his manager Erik ten Hag on the eve of this game.
The Dutchman has stood by him despite having plenty of numbers in central midfield – playing him in every minute so far.

He said Fernandes has been “magnificent” and said he was the perfect example as the stand-in skipper in the absence of Harry Maguire.
Maybe those words provided the kind of boost Fernandes needed as this was much more like it.
An audacious dummy early on allowed midfield partner Fred to open up the Spurs defence for the first time.
His free-kick from 20 yards brought a flying save out of Hugo Lloris while he then slapped an effort over the bar.
    PORTUGUESE MAGNIFICO
It was a clever pass from Fernandes that sent Marcus Rashford through but again Lloris was down well to make the save.
While there was no addition to his numbers, he contributed plenty to a hugely encouraging first half show from the Red Devils when all that was missing for them was a goal.
And that was the point Ten Hag had made before the game – that he was heavily involved in all of United’s best work even if the end product was missing.
All that changed when he pounced on a loose ball after Fred’s shot had been blocked and showed he had lost none of the instincts that made him such a favourite here.
From then he really had his swagger back and was starting to dictate the game.

He burst clear onto a sweeping pass from Rashford to finish with style and show he had his confidence back – only for the linesman’s flag to cut his celebration short.
Even so, he had played a huge part in United’s best performance of the season – now he needs to build on it. More

The Brazilian was excellent in all departments and was rewarded for his efforts with the opener at Old Trafford.

Quickly becoming a force to be reckoned with.
His silky footwork left Spurs in a spin and the Brazilian is well on his way to becoming a firm fan favourite.
    BRUNO FERNANDES – 9
Stepped up for the big occasion to silence his critics.
Ran his socks off for the team but also reminded people he really does have a wand of a right foot too as he fired in United’s second goal.
    JADON SANCHO – 8
Another confident game from the England World Cup hopeful.
Gareth Southgate won’t be able to ignore him much longer if he continues to combine defensive duties with a real passion for driving into the box.

Ruthless Erik ten Hag demands 100% from Man Utd players or they face rotting on the bench, reveals Luke Shaw

LUKE SHAW has revealed that Manchester United’s players were allowed to swing the lead until ruthless Erik ten Hag came along. And he points to himself as an example of someone who suffered the consequences of failing to maintain the standards demanded by the Dutchman.

In a direct dig at previous United bosses Ralf Rangnick and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, he declares that even when standards dropped on the pitch or in training, under-performing stars were still allowed to keep their places.
But England left-back Shaw stresses not now with Ten Hag around, saying: “The good thing with this manager, this gaffer, is that if you’re not playing well then you won’t play.
“In the past that’s not been the case. But the good thing about this manager is that he’s keeping everyone on their toes.
“He makes sure that everyone is 100% every day. If you’re not at it then you won’t play. That’s a positive thing.”

Last season was Manchester United’s worst of the Premier League era.
They slumped from second in the previous campaign to sixth, winning only 16 games, scoring just 57 goals and finishing on a record low of 58 points.
But since he replaced Rangnick this summer, Ten Hag has shown the squad that any big name will fall if they don’t produce.
Only on Sunday he dumped Marcus Rashford to the bench after he failed to score in his previous two games.

Cristiano Ronaldo started just his second Prem game of the season in the scoreless draw with Newcastle United – but was hauled off in favour of Rashford in the second half.
He may now find himself back with the subs again when Tottenham visit Old Trafford tomorrow, having shown how unhappy he was to be replaced against Toon by shaking his head repeatedly as he trudged off.
Skipper Harry Maguire was unceremoniously ditched after the 4  0 humiliation at Brentford in the second game of the season.
He is now nearing fitness after pulling a hamstring in England’s 3 – 3 draw with Germany on September 26, but faces a fight to break up the central defensive partnership of Raphael Varane and £58M summer signing Lisandro Martinez.
Jadon Sancho, Fred and Scott McTominay have also had the tap on the shoulder from Ten Hag – just like Shaw did with Maguire after the Brentford debacle.
He missed four Prem games in a row and over the next 50 days was given just 20 Europa League minutes against Sheriff having been replaced by understudy Tyrell Malacia.
He only took over from the £15M signing from Feyenoord at half time in the 6-3 derby mauling by Manchester City at the start of this month.
    SHAW THING
But he doesn’t blame Ten Hag for dropping him, admitting: “To be honest I didn’t really need him to say anything to me.
“I knew. I knew the first two games were nowhere near good enough.
“I completely understood that it was my time to come out of the team.
“The results were bad, my performances were not good enough.
“I just had to keep training hard every day in training so the manager could see I was training hard.
“I was just waiting for my opportunity and had to bide my time because the team were doing well and we were winning. You can’t moan.”
    LUKE WANTS MORE
Shaw, in his eighth year at United after arriving for £30M for Southampton, stresses  “I think I’m at that age that it’s about time I start being more consistent.
“Over the years I’ve had a lot of ups and down.
“For me that’s not good enough and not what I want to be achieving.
“It’s all about consistency and I just need to keep training hard, keep the focus and give everything I can for the team.“
Shaw suggests that one player who doesn’t have to worry about Ten Hag’s axe right now is diminutive central defender Martinez.
That spells more bad news for Maguire, with Shaw saying he has been “unbelievable” since his £58M entrance from Ajax this summer.

He adds:  “You can see everyone loves him. The fans love him. His left foot is unbelievable.
“His aggression, his passion, we need him in that backline. He brings that every game. I am really pleased to have him in the team.” More
