      LUKE SHAW’S agent has revealed how the star was helped through his feud with Jose Mourinho and not forced out of Manchester United ‘just to make money’.Jonathan Barnett, who also looks after the likes of Gareth Bale and Jack Grealish, has revealed the work put in behind the scenes to rescue the defender’s confidence.

      During Mourinho’s time in charge at Old Trafford, the left-back appeared to be heading towards the exit door.
      But Barnett, 71, has revealed the role he played in rescuing his client’s career.
      He explained to The Athletic: “My job in that situation is to make sure the player’s spirits are kept up.
      “We try behind the scenes to help them understand what’s gone wrong. A lot of it is personal.
      “We had to rebuild his confidence, which we did. We took certain steps. But Luke is a very strong man. He never got too down.
      “His family had to be there for him and we had to be there for him. We didn’t say, ‘You’ve got to leave Man United, we’ve got to go because we need to make money’.

      “We didn’t force Luke Shaw out of Man United. He wanted to stay there. And that’s what he’s done. And today, he’s a great, great player.”
      Shaw became the most expensive teenager in football when he signed for £30million from Southampton in 2014.
      Injuries impacted his early years with United before Mourinho’s arrival led to public criticism and an exile from the team.
      The Portuguese boss dug out Shaw for playing with ‘his body but my brain’ as he claimed to have talked the player through a convincing performance versus Everton in 2017.
      Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has got the best out of Shaw, despite failing to convince Mourinho, with the 25-year-old recalled by England.
      And Barnett credited analysts at his own agency with helping the star turn around his form.

      He noted: “My company, for example, has two analysts who are considered to be some of the best in the world and have worked for some of the biggest football clubs in the world.
      “We took them away [from those clubs] to work for us. Then we sit down with somebody like Luke Shaw and analyse his game for him, like a club would.
      “This is a personal thing that we do for our players. We show him what he’s doing wrong or what he’s doing right.”

      SunSport has exclusively revealed that Derby boss Wayne Rooney is interested in adding Butt to his management team at the Championship outfit.
      But according to The Athletic, Butt and Murtough had ‘differing footballing views’.
      Murtough was essentially Butt’s line manager in the new coaching set up. The Athletic describes the pair as ‘like chalk and cheese’.
      It is also alleged that Butt felt ‘overlooked’ for the technical director role that his former team-mate Darren Fletcher bagged.
      Butt helped bring current first-teamers like Marcus Rashford, Scott McTominay, Axel Tuanzebe, Dean Henderson and Mason Greenwood through United’s famous academy.
      And Butt told the club’s official website: “Having come through the Academy myself to play almost 400 games for Manchester United, it has been an absolute privilege to come back and work with a new generation of talent making that same journey.
      “I’m proud of the role everyone on the staff plays in giving our young footballers the best possible chance of fulfilling their potential.
      “The results are clear to see in the increased number of homegrown players reaching the first team.
      “I already know from my playing days how difficult it is to leave Manchester United.
      “But it feels like the right moment for a new professional challenge.
      “I look forward to exploring opportunities that build on the great experiences I’ve had here over the past nine years.”

      Butt played almost 400 games under Sir Alex Ferguson and was a member of the historic 1999 Treble-winning side.

      He told Ladbrokes: “Sergio Aguero might be leaving Man City, why shouldn’t United make a move for him?
      “You could see it now. If he wanted to stay in the Premier League and he’s living in Manchester, then I don’t think it would be a bad thing at all if they went and got Aguero.
      “It can happen, who knows? You’ve got to ask the question if you’re United because you never know.”
      Barcelona and Chelsea are two other clubs linked to the 32-year-old, who has scored just once in the Premier League all season.
      If he did arrive, Aguero could slot into Solskjaer’s favoured 4-2-3-1 system in place of Martial or Cavani.
      There is also the possibility of rejigging the formation to allow Paul Pogba and Fernandes to create for the Argentine and Rashford up top.

      Former Red Devils midfielder Ince, 53, has told the club to consider Aguero when his contract expires in the summer.
      Such a shock swoop could emulate Sir Alex Ferguson’s capture of Eric Cantona from Leeds during Ince’s time at Old Trafford.
      He told Ladbrokes: “Sergio Aguero might be leaving Man City, why shouldn’t United make a move for him?
      “You could see it now. If he wanted to stay in the Premier League and he’s living in Manchester, then I don’t think it would be a bad thing at all if they went and got Aguero.

      Ince recommended Harry Kane and Erling Haaland as two more strikers who could lift the club to a Premier League title.

      “Haaland is only 20, so you could bring him in for around £100m and you’d still be able to make a profit from him in five years’ time.

      According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, key to Inter’s rise has been losing 16lbs of weight under the guidance of the nutritionist Matteo Pincella, who began his career in rugby.
      In 2012, he joined up with Antonio Conte at Juventus and now combines his club role with working for the Italian national team.
      Under Pincella, Inter stars are studied and handed unique diet plans that rarely feature pasta dishes.
      Instead, chicken, sweet potatoes, shirataki noodles, and fish all feature heavily and a single cheat meal a week is allowed.
      For 27-year-old striker Lukaku, that has meant ditching some of the bad habits he took with him from Manchester United.
      Pineapple on pizza and carbonara pasta are just two of the guilty pleasures given the boot, helping him drop from 15st 11lbs to around 14st 9lbs.

      MANCHESTER UNITED star Amad Diallo’s meteoric rise continued after he was called up by the Ivory Coast.The 18-year-old starlet could make his full international debut for the African nation this month.

      United confirmed his call-up to Patrice Beaumelle’s Elephants side alongside team-mate Eric Bailly.
      Both Red Devils are part of the 30-man squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
      Ivory Coast – who are top of Group K ahead of Madagascar – face Niger on Friday before playing Ethiopia on March 30.
      Diallo arrived at United for £37million in January from Atalanta after the deal had been agreed in principle last summer.
      He starred in Neil Wood’s Under-23s and hit the ground running with an incredible three goals and three assists in just two Premier League 2 games.
      Diallo was soon promoted by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer into the first-team squad and made his debut against Real Sociedad in the Europa League last 32 first leg.
      He has made four appearances in total, including a late six-minute cameo in the FA Cup quarter-final defeat at Leicester on Sunday.
      Diallo bagged his first goal against AC Milan in the Europa League after coming off the bench for the injured Anthony Martial.

      Diallo’s loopy backwards header gave United the lead in the first leg and they went on to win the last 16 tie 2-1 on aggregate to set up a quarter-final against Granada.

      Diallo is still looking for his first go in the starting XI.
