How Man Utd could line-up next season with Sergio Aguero in attack, Hugo Lloris in goal and Pau Torres alongside Maguire

MANCHESTER UNITED are set for a busy summer of transfer action – with some surprising names talked up for a move to Old Trafford.Sergio Aguero is the latest big name discussed in what would be a shock switch across the city, so how would he fit into the side?
How Man Utd could line up if a trio of new stars arrive
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has a steady foundation to build his team around for next season, with the likes of Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford and Harry Maguire going nowhere.
A new central defender to sit alongside the club captain is thought to be a key consideration.
Another goalkeeper has been touted to arrive if David De Gea or Dean Henderson leave.
And there is always the prospect of a statement signing in attack with Anthony Martial misfiring and Edinson Cavani’s future up in the air.
The likes of Erling Haaland and Harry Kane continue to be linked if United are ready to splash the cash.
But former Red Devils star Paul Ince has told Solskjaer to consider a bid for Aguero when his Manchester City contract expires in June.

He told Ladbrokes: “Sergio Aguero might be leaving Man City, why shouldn’t United make a move for him?
“You could see it now. If he wanted to stay in the Premier League and he’s living in Manchester, then I don’t think it would be a bad thing at all if they went and got Aguero.
“It can happen, who knows? You’ve got to ask the question if you’re United because you never know.”
Barcelona and Chelsea are two other clubs linked to the 32-year-old, who has scored just once in the Premier League all season.
If he did arrive, Aguero could slot into Solskjaer’s favoured 4-2-3-1 system in place of Martial or Cavani.
There is also the possibility of rejigging the formation to allow Paul Pogba and Fernandes to create for the Argentine and Rashford up top.

Elsewhere, Hugo Lloris has been named by L’Equipe as another possible surprise arrival in the summer.
The Tottenham captain is said to want one final challenge of his career and SunSport recently revealed an imminent turnover of goalkeepers at United.
Pau Torres is said by MEN to be a top target in defence, with the Villarreal star holding a £52million buyout clause in his contract.
Raphael Varane and Jules Kounde have also been linked but a player-plus-cash deal may be the preferred option to land 24-year-old Torres.

Man Utd set to make Pau Torres transfer move for £52m with Villarreal defender ‘interested in summer switch’

MANCHESTER UNITED could be ready to launch a bid for Pau Torres with the defender reportedly interested in a move to England. The Spaniard is said to be available for around £52million in the summer due to a buyout clause in his Villarreal contract.

According to MEN, the 24-year-old is open to leaving LaLiga having come through the ranks at Estadio Ceramica.
However, United may be made to wait on Torres if he is called up to Spain’s Euro 2020 squad.
He reportedly wants to focus on a strong end to the season with Villarreal and a good tournament in the summer before deciding on his future.
The Yellow Submarine’s form could play a big role with the club sat seventh in its pursuit of European football.
It has previously been said that missing out on a Europa League spot could see Torres become available for less than his release clause.
Furthermore, new reports suggest a player-plus-cash offer could also tempt Villarreal into a deal.
The left-footed centre-back had played every minute of the league campaign until a muscle injury struck at the start of the month, ruling him out of Spain’s World Cup qualifiers.
Manchester City are tipped to compete for his signature if he desires a move to the Premier League, with Real Madrid and Barcelona also keen.

But Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is understood to have earmarked a defender as his number one priority in the next window.
Raphael Varane and Jules Kounde are two other LaLiga stars rumoured to be interesting United.
And a big-money move for Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland continues to be on Solskjaer’s mind, it has been claimed.

Man Utd tipped to make shock Sergio Aguero free transfer move from City by Paul Ince who says ‘you could see it now’

MANCHESTER CITY could see Sergio Aguero head straight across town if they don’t renew his contract, Paul Ince has warned.Barcelona, Inter Milan and Chelsea have all been linked with the Argentine, 32, and Manchester United are the latest club tipped to make an offer.

Former Red Devils midfielder Ince, 53, has told the club to consider Aguero when his contract expires in the summer.
Such a shock swoop could emulate Sir Alex Ferguson’s capture of Eric Cantona from Leeds during Ince’s time at Old Trafford.
You’ve got to ask the question if you’re United because you never know.
“It happened with us back in 1992 when Howard Wilkinson was asking Sir Alex Ferguson about [signing] Denis Irwin.

“Fergie said there’d be no chance of that happening and suggested Leeds sold Cantona to them – and within a couple of days that deal was done.
“It was just Fergie throwing a name out there and taking a chance, trying his luck. Maybe that’s what Ole Gunnar Solskjaer should do with Aguero this summer.”
Ince recommended Harry Kane and Erling Haaland as two more strikers who could lift the club to a Premier League title.
Interest in Borussia Dortmund star Haaland, 20, is high and the Bundesliga club may be forced into a sale if they fail to make the Champions League.
And the younger of the pair would be thea more viable option in Ince’s eyes.
The ex-England star noted: “If I was in charge of United and you offered me Harry Kane or Erling Haaland on a plate right now, I think I’d be taking Haaland.
Erling Haaland is reportedly a long-term target for Manchester UnitedCredit: Getty
Harry Kane has also been talked up as an option by Paul InceCredit: AFP
“He’s younger, not that Kane’s old, and he’s got a bit more pace, not that Kane is slow.
“If you were going to buy Harry Kane right now he’d probably cost you around £80/90m and he’d likely be on a five-year contract which takes him into his thirties.
“When you buy a player you’ve always got to look at how you might make a profit from them later on.
“Haaland is only 20, so you could bring him in for around £100m and you’d still be able to make a profit from him in five years’ time.
I think Haaland would do the same at any club in any division, he’s only going to get better.Paul Ince

“With Kane you’d have the guarantee that he’s already a proven goalscorer in the division.
“He knows the Premier League well so you know he’d get you 25 goals a season.
“But I think Haaland would do the same at any club in any division, and he’s only going to get better.”

A return to Ligue 1 with Paris Saint-Germain or Nice has been reported and now L’Equipe detail a potential move to Manchester.
Lloris is in his ninth season at Tottenham but is yet to win a trophy, although he will get a fresh chance in the upcoming Carabao Cup final.
SunSport recently revealed the club’s plans to replace club captain Lloris at the end of the season.
England trio Sam Johnstone, Nick Pope and Dean Henderson are understood to all be targets for Jose Mourinho.
United star Henderson is finally getting his chance in the team but may seek a move if he is once again dropped to the bench.
Earlier this year, we told of how the Red Devils are planning to sell either the 24-year-old or David De Gea.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has stated his happiness at having the pair compete for a place on the teamsheet but the Spaniard’s high wages make him a very expensive substitute.
Lloris was vocal about Tottenham’s Europa League exit at the hands of Dinamo Zagreb last week, which he branded a ‘disgrace’.
Meanwhile, Henderson impressed as he kept a sixth clean sheet in seven against AC Milan – before conceding three to Leicester in the following match.
Also linked to Spurs if Lloris leaves is France national team understudy Mike Maignan, who plays for Lille.

Inter star Lukaku reveals how he lost 16lbs since quitting Man Utd – including ditching controversial pineapple on pizza

ROMELU LUKAKU kicked pineapple on pizza and carbonara pasta from his diet in pursuit of Inter Milan glory. With the Nerazzurri sitting pretty atop Serie A, he is on the verge of a first piece of silverware since leaving England.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, key to Inter’s rise has been losing 16lbs of weight under the guidance of the nutritionist Matteo Pincella, who began his career in rugby.
In 2012, he joined up with Antonio Conte at Juventus and now combines his club role with working for the Italian national team.
Under Pincella, Inter stars are studied and handed unique diet plans that rarely feature pasta dishes.
Instead, chicken, sweet potatoes, shirataki noodles, and fish all feature heavily and a single cheat meal a week is allowed.
For 27-year-old striker Lukaku, that has meant ditching some of the bad habits he took with him from Manchester United.
Pineapple on pizza and carbonara pasta are just two of the guilty pleasures given the boot, helping him drop from 15st 11lbs to around 14st 9lbs.

I have reached another level, physically and mentally.Romelu Lukaku
Earlier this month Lukaku detailed his diet, which does not include a breakfast, on a club podcast: “When I joined Inter we did an analysis of my body and a lot has changed.
“I eat a lot of salad and fish, which has a great effect on me. I take carnitine, it makes me feel good, and I take vitamins.
“I eat salad for lunch, a lot of chicken breast, shirataki noodles. Since following this lifestyle I feel better on the pitch, more responsive and faster.
“I love sweet potatoes and black rice, I don’t eat pasta.
“I have reached another level, physically and mentally. The day before the game I can go overboard with carbohydrates.

“After most matches I eat two packs of gnocchi. They get into my circulation quickly, they help me a lot.
“I drink and eat at the stadium, in our canteen, or I take my food home, then recover with lots of ice.”
The results have been substantial with Lukaku hitting 25 goals in all competitions this season, including a strike in the weekend win at Torino.
It was Inter’s eighth in a row in Serie A, pushing the team six points clear of AC Milan with a game in hand.

Man Utd star Amad Diallo continues huge rise with 18-year-old called up for Ivory Coast duty for first time

United confirmed his call-up to Patrice Beaumelle’s Elephants side alongside team-mate Eric Bailly.
Both Red Devils are part of the 30-man squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Ivory Coast – who are top of Group K ahead of Madagascar – face Niger on Friday before playing Ethiopia on March 30.
Diallo arrived at United for £37million in January from Atalanta after the deal had been agreed in principle last summer.
He starred in Neil Wood’s Under-23s and hit the ground running with an incredible three goals and three assists in just two Premier League 2 games.
Diallo was soon promoted by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer into the first-team squad and made his debut against Real Sociedad in the Europa League last 32 first leg.
He has made four appearances in total, including a late six-minute cameo in the FA Cup quarter-final defeat at Leicester on Sunday.
Diallo bagged his first goal against AC Milan in the Europa League after coming off the bench for the injured Anthony Martial.

Diallo’s loopy backwards header gave United the lead in the first leg and they went on to win the last 16 tie 2-1 on aggregate to set up a quarter-final against Granada.
The Ivorian became the youngest foreigner to ever score for United in Europe.
Team-mates Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood were both younger when they notched their first strikes in European competition.
Diallo is still looking for his first go in the starting XI.
He is joined in the Ivory Coast side by fellow Prem stars Wilfried Zaha, Nicolas Pepe and Serge Aurier.

Carragher takes hilarious pop at Gary Neville after digging up two-month old tweet about Man Utd on Thursday nights

JAMIE CARRAGHER has trolled his Sky Sports mate Gary Neville after Manchester United were sent tumbling out of the FA Cup by Leicester. Two goals from Kelechi Iheanacho and a Youri Tielemans solo-strike helped the Foxes to a relatively easy triumph against a lethargic United on Sunday.

Jamie Carragher poked fun at Gary Neville and Manchester United’s FA Cup exit
Mason Greenwood netted what proved to be a consolation as United were left to reflect on just having the Europa League as a realistic trophy to win this season.
Carragher retweeted a tweet Neville shared on January 21, that read: “Football on Thursday Nights ain’t that bad.”
The former Liverpool centre-half added: “Especially when you’ve got f**k all else!”
United legend Neville was ‘demoralised’ after the club’s FA Cup exit and has hit out at Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for rotating the team.
Boss Solskjaer made five changes from the side that beat AC Milan 1-0 at the San Siro on Thursday, and Neville cannot understand why he rotated for such an important game.
Speaking on his podcast with Sky Sports, he said: “It had been a good week. Not surprising that they go to Milan and did what they did, they are good away from home, then beating West Ham last week.
“I’m surprised the team was weakened against Leicester, I’m surprised he (Solskjaer) rotated as much, I know he has been doing that, but this was a real chance.
“If you think the semi-final draw that occurred at half-time of that game which meant the winner of the Leicester vs Manchester United tie would play Southampton.

“It is not a gimme against Southampton by any stretch of the imagination, but what an opportunity and I genuinely believe that that group of players need to win a trophy under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.”
Before adding: “Yes, of course finishing second would be the priority at the start of the season, but winning a trophy with that would be a real priority and now they only have the Europa League left.
“Leicester have a decent record, but I was in the car listening to it on the radio and they go behind and you think ‘here we go’ and you are not surprised with United.
“But they got back in the game and then you see the second and third ones and you think that could be a massive missed opportunity.
“I am demoralised a little bit as a Manchester United fan as I thought that was a really good one to go for this season.”
Solskjaer claimed after the Leicester defeat that their busy schedule and their trip to Italy played a key part in their FA Cup exit.

Man Utd verdict: Red Devils desperately need another iconic goalscore as Martial, Greenwood and Co fall way short

ROONEY, Charlton, Law, Rowley, Violet, Best – the names roll off the tongue for Manchester United fans.Yet when was the last time they had a goalscorer to acclaim?
Anthony Martial failed to ignite Manchester United’s attack on SundayCredit: Getty
Where is the Yorke and Cole or the Ruud van Nistelrooy, probably the most underrated player in the club’s history?
Robin van Persie did it for a season and so did Zlatan, as he will no doubt tell you.
    All these names are legends.
A club the size of Manchester United demands legends.
Yet since Rooney left who have they had to look to for goals on regular basis?
Anthony Martial? Did you watch him against Leicester? No movement, no nothing.
Marcus Rashford is a very good footballer, unavailable in this cup tie due to injury, but he is not the out-and-out goalscorer they need.
Edison Cavani is clearly struggling to get his veteran frame through another season.

    Then there is Mason Greenwood.
Now there is no doubt the teenager has talent.
His ability with both feet can bamboozle defenders when he charges into the box.
But his goal at the King Power was only his second since December 5.
    Manchester United cannot afford potential.
The class of ’92 were brought into the first-team because Sir Alex Ferguson thought they were ready. Ready to win cups and titles.
So the ‘he will get better’ excuse is not enough if Greenwood is pulling on the Red jersey.
Martial has no excuses, 17-8-11-12-23 and now 7 is how his season’s goalscoring tallies have run in his time at Old Trafford.
Mason Greenwood scored to make it 1-1 in the FA Cup defeatCredit: Getty
Manchester United must find a consistent goal-getter akin to Ruud van NistelrooyCredit: PA:Press Association

Rooney, the clubs greatest-ever scorer, was an incredible exception, one of the greatest players of all time, so it is tough to use him as a comparison.
But take Van Nistelrooy, who was with the club during a relatively lean time in Fergie’s years, and his goalscoring figures are 36-44-30-16-24. It’s astonishing to think he only won one title in his time at United.
Now, the club have just signed another eye-watering shirt sponsorship deal worth £235million.
They simply need to splash a lot of that cash on Erling Haaland of Borussia Dortmund.
Because this is not a bad United side, they just do not have the finisher to complete their build-up play… this match was another example.
