Man Utd dealt transfer blow after target Sandro Tonali’s move to AC Milan ‘confirmed by Brescia owner Massimo Cellino’

MANCHESTER UNITED have been dealt a transfer blow after Sandro Tonali agreed to join AC Milan, according to Brescia owner Massimo Cellino.
The Italian midfielder, 20, is regarded as one of the hottest young talents in Europe after a strong season in Serie A.

On Friday, Man Utd were claimed to have made a move for the £31m-rated star to bolster their midfield ranks.
But Brescia owner – and Leeds chairman – Cellino has confirmed Tonali is heading to Milan, according to Sky Sports Italia.
Inter Milan had also been keen to sign the “new Andrea Pirlo”.
However, if reports in Italy are to be believed, Tonali will wear the red and black of AC Milan in 2020-21.

Brescia were always likely to want to cash-in on their star man this summer.
The Italian side were relegated to Serie B after finishing 19th last term – a massive 14 points from safety.
And a cash-injection of £31m will go a long way to softening the blow.
Man Utd were already worried about missing out on Tonali after his agent reportedly advised him to stay put in Serie A.

While Tonali has been compared to Italian legend Pirlo, the new Juventus boss believes the youngster even could surpass him.

Earlier this year, Pirlo claimed: “It’s said that he may be my heir, but I don’t see many things in common.
“He is another type of player. He is much more complete both in the defensive phase and when he sets up.
“He is a mix between my characteristics and those of other players.
“He is the most promising of midfielders. He will surely become a great player.”

Jesse Lingard wore the exact same outfit as Shaw while on his holiday
The Manchester United duo were left red-faced after sharing pictures of themselves enjoying their summer holidays.
Incredibly, Lingard and Shaw were wearing EXACTLY the same get-up.
The Old Trafford team-mates have both been on the party island of island of Mykonos for their jollies.
And they were both snapped wearing a £300 Amiri T-shirt and identical, pink-and-green, patterned shorts for their Greek getaway.

The gaffe was picked up by a Luke Shaw fan account on Twitter.
The page – LukeShawArmy – shared the pics of both the left-back and Lingard.
They asked their followers: “Who wore it better?”
Unsurprisingly given the source of the poll, Shaw ran out winner.

While dressing the same way as Lingard may have been a mistake, Shaw certainly didn’t make any error when he copied son, Reign London’s style.
Shaw kitted both himself and his lad in a £290 black Burberry T-shirt and £470 shorts in the iconic brand’s famous check pattern.
The Man Utd star and girlfriend Anouska Santos welcomed the tot into the world in November.

Former Man Utd star Daley Blind reassures fans he is ‘feeling fine’ after collapsing during Ajax match

DALEY BLIND has reassured fans he is “OK and feeling fine” after collapsing mid-game earlier this week.
With nobody close to him on the pitch, Blind slumped to the ground towards the end of Ajax’s friendly with Hertha Berlin.

The Dutchman, 30, was diagnosed with heart muscle inflammation in December.
Blind suffered a dizzy spell in his side’s Champions League game with Valencia and was taken for tests.
It was then his underlying condition was discovered.
And late on in the 1-0 win over Hertha Berlin, Blind crumpled to the ground as medics rushed to help.

Worried team-mates quickly raced over to the defender – who was seen clutching his chest during the terrifying ordeal.
Blind was eventually able to leave the pitch without any assistance.

Despite fear amongst his fans following his latest scare, Blind has taken to Twitter to reassure his followers.
Blind tweeted: “Many thanks for all the kind messages I received.

“I can say that I’m OK and feeling fine.”
Blind returned to the first-team set-up six months ago after being fitted with an electronic device to monitor his heart.
Doctors fitted him with a device, called a subcutaneous implantable cardioverter defibrillator, to help him continue playing.
This is designed to regulate any abnormal heart rhythms, preventing a potential cardiac arrest.
And Ajax boss Erik ten Hag revealed Blind’s ICD went off during the on-pitch ordeal.

What is an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) and how does it work?

An ICD is a device which can be used to treat people who suffer from dangerously abnormal heart rhythms.
The device is placed under your skin to monitor your heart rate with thin wires connecting it to the heart.
It monitors the rhythm of your heart through the electrodes.
If the ICD picks up a dangerous heart rhythm it is able to do three things:
Cardioversion – this is where one or more small electric shocks are used to try and restore the heart to its normal rhythm
Defibrillation – one or more larger electric shocks to help restore normal rhythm
Pacing – low voltage pulses that are delivered to try and correct the rhythm
The British Heart Foundation states that you will need an ICD if you have already had a life threatening abnormal heart rhythm and you are at risk of having it again.
You may also need one if tests show you are at risk of developing an abnormal heart rhythm – or if you have another condition such as heart failure.

After the match, Ten Hag said: “Daley Blind’s ICD went off.
“He got subbed off straight away and he is feeling OK now, he is feeling fine.
“We will do research about this now.”

Man Utd boss Solskjaer orders Bruno Fernandes not to make so many runs but midfielder says he ‘can’t control’ urge

MANCHESTER UNITED boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has ordered Bruno Fernandes not to make so many runs – but the midfielder says he “can’t control” his urge.
The Portuguese star, 25, scored 12 goals and laid on eight assists following his January move to Old Trafford.

The former Sporting Lisbon star added a much-needed spark of energy and creativity into the Old Trafford midfield, as the club turned their season on its head.
But Solskjaer has asked Fernandes to rein in his desire to charge around the pitch so as to avoid fatigue – and the the injuries that come with it.
Fernandes told the Man Utd website: “[Solskjaer] says to me a lot of times ‘sometimes you do so many runs and some runs aren’t for you – you need to shout someone else to run, because after you are tired and, when you take the ball, you will not be fresh.’
“But it’s instinct, it’s part of my game. I can’t control this.

“I’m like this and I want to help the team every time.
“In the game, you don’t think, you just run. For me, that’s enough.
“I think the most important thing is to help the team and if you help the team it’s OK.”
Fernandes went on to say he hopes he can continue setting up his new team-mates as well as getting amongst the goals in his first full season at the club.

The ex-Sporting Lisbon star said: “It’s important to be in the goals, whether it’s doing assists or scoring, so, for me, it’s the same.
“Of course, I enjoy assisting my team-mates because playing No10 is the position you have to serve your team-mates.
“Sometimes, I look too much for them when I have the chance to shoot.
“But I try always to serve them, because normally the strikers are there to score.

“For their confidence, scoring is important.
“A No10 doesn’t need to score a lot to be confident. For them, it’s important.
“Since I arrived in Manchester, I try to serve more than score – but I have more goals than assists.”

Jadon Sancho remains Man Utd ‘top transfer target’ despite Lionel Messi being on the market this summer

JADON SANCHO is still Manchester United’s top transfer target this summer, despite Lionel Messi being on the market.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Co have been relentlessly pursuing Borussia Dortmund ace Sancho, 20, since July.

Lionel Messi stunned the world by announcing he wants to quit BarcelonaCredit: AFP
And they are still hopeful of completing a deal despite missing the August 10 deadline set by the German giants.
Many believed United would give up on Sancho – especially after Messi shocked the footballing world by revealing he wanted to quit Barcelona.
But the Red Devils are still as determined as ever to complete a deal for £108million-rated Sancho.
Rivals Manchester City are the clear favourites to sign Messi, with the Argentine ace reuniting with Pep Guardiola.

Messi is even said to have contacted his former boss, begging him to save him from his Barcelona hell after a horror few months at the Nou Camp.
Reports claim Man Utd are in a position where they can afford Messi, despite his £1m-a-week wages.
But at the age of 33, arguably the greatest footballer of all time does not fit Solskjaer’s long-term plan.
And the Norwegian will stand firm in his pursuit of Sancho – whose pre-season at Dortmund is well underway.

United stumbled in their early hunt for the England winger as they were unwilling to pay the £108m in one lump sum.
Instead, Man Utd attempted to convince Dortmund to part with Sancho for around £60m to £70m up front, with the rest paid in instalments.
Despite being laughed-off by the Bundesliga side, United are said to be “comfortable” with their position.

Being the only club in world football able to afford Sancho – due to the financial effects of the coronavirus lockdown – means they don’t risk being gazumped by another club.
And reports claim they believe Dortmund will reconsider their original offer before the transfer window shuts on October 5.
Sancho himself is said to be “happy” in Germany and is expected to spend at least one more season at the club.

Wayne Rooney leaps to Harry Maguire’s defence over Greek brawl and insists Man Utd captain is ‘not that type of person’

WAYNE ROONEY has leaped to the defence of Harry Maguire following his Mykonos brawl – insisting the Manchester United captain is “not that type of person”.
Maguire, 27, was found guilty of assault and attempted bribery and handed a 21-month suspended jail sentence earlier this week.

The England defender – who was named and then removed from Gareth Southgate’s latest Three Lions squad – has lodged an appeal, meaning he will be granted a retrial at a “more senior court”.
And Rooney has given his complete backing to Maguire, adamantly saying the ex-Leicester man is “not that type of person”.
Rooney told talkSPORT: “Knowing Harry the way I know him, it’s completely not his character.
“It’s out of character, everything that was reported to have happened.

“I couldn’t get my head around how it went to court.
“He was found guilty and sentenced all within the space of about two hours… how has that happened?
“Harry’s not that type of person at all.
“He was out there with his girlfriend, his family and friends and their girlfriends…

“So it’s not a group of lads, where sometimes things happen.”

Rooney added he believes Maguire must have been provoked to act so “out of character”.
The Derby man continued: “So, in my opinion, something has gone on that has maybe provoked him.
“It’s just out of character, it’s not him at all. I just think as a nation, as people, we are too quick to judge.
“Obviously he was found guilty and there’s an appeal, so at the minute there’s no charges now against his name until the next court date.”
Maguire is expected to keep the Man Utd captaincy after lodging his appeal – but may be forced to wait three years for his retrial.
On Wednesday, pals claimed Maguire and his group – arrested at the weekend – were given a “welcome” by up to eight men armed with batons when they arrived at a police station in Mykonos.
Authorities refused to allow medical evidence gathered by his legal team which detailed bruising he sustained.

Phone footage which showed Maguire’s pals confronting two Albanians who allegedly tried to inject his sister Daisy, 20, with a drug was also not allowed to be submitted.
A source said: “Harry is very disappointed at how things played out in court.
“His team was given two hours to examine a 50-page prosecution file.
“They repeatedly asked for an adjournment but weren’t given one.
“The trial went on until late and it makes everyone think that the authorities were determined to deal with the case, whether it had due process or not.
“Harry is confident that the appeals process will provide him with the opportunity to clear his name.”
Another pal said Maguire was “hellbent on clearing his name”, adding: “He respects the legal process.”
Manchester United also gave their backing to Maguire, saying he’s “innocent until proven guilty”.

On Wednesday, a club spokesperson said: “An appeal against yesterday’s verdict was lodged this morning by Harry’s legal team.
“In accordance with the Greek judicial process, the filing of an appeal extinguishes the initial court verdict and nullifies the conviction.
“The appeal has been accepted and will lead to a full retrial in a more senior court.
“This means that Harry has no criminal record and is once again presumed innocent until proven guilty.”

Aaron Wan-Bissaka could miss start of Man Utd’s pre-season after ignoring club advice to fly to Dubai

AARON WAN-BISSAKA could miss the start of Manchester United’s pre-season after ignoring club advice and flying to Dubai.
The right-back travelled to the holiday hotspot at the end of United’s season but could now fall foul of Government rules and be forced to quarantine for 14 days on his return to the UK.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka could miss the start of Man Utd’s pre-season after flying to Dubai

    2

The right-back ignored club advice and could now be forced to quarantine for 14 days on his return to the UK
The 22-year-old is due back in the country before the end of this week, according to the Mail.
But pictures the Englishman posted of him working out in the sun in front of Dubai’s famous skyline will anger United staff.
‘Elite sportsperson’ protocols allow players to return to the UK without quarantining.
But those rules only apply when stars are officially training or competing with their clubs – which Wan-Bissaka is not.

United are due back for pre-season next week but they are likely to be without Wan-Bissaka.
The Government’s official website explains the ex-Crystal Palace star had to provide a negative coronavirus test result within 96 hours of arriving in Dubai.
And he will also be tested by the Red Devils on his return to England.
United staff informed all the players which locations they could travel to without having to quarantine on their return.

But United’s first choice right-back appears to have ignored it.

Earlier today, United released some positive news when they confirmed Dean Henderson has signed a new five-year £120,000-a-week deal.
But they are also bogged down in the Harry Maguire saga.
Their captain was found guilty of aggravated assault, attempted bribery and resisting arrest in Mykanos yesterday.
But he was awarded a retrial after an appeal today and United will keep the 27-year-old as their captain for now as a result.

Harry Maguire set to remain as Man Utd captain as club await defender’s appeal against Mykonos brawl verdict

HARRY MAGUIRE will keep the Manchester United captaincy after his suspended prison sentence was set aside on appeal.
Maguire, 27, was convicted of repeated bodily harm, violence against public officials and attempted bribery by a Greek court.

    1

Harry Maguire will keep the Man Utd captaincy after his prison sentence was set aside on appeal
But United insisted last night that Maguire’s appeal against this week’s verdict means that his sentence is now on hold for three years.
The player was stunned by the outcome of his case, when he was handed a suspended prison sentence of 21 months and ten days for his part in a fight with police on the holiday island of Mykonos last week.
But yesterday’s appeal means the conviction is nullified until a full retrial is held in a more senior court.
⚠️Click here for the latest news on Harry Maguire

A United statement said: “An appeal against this week’s verdict has been lodged by Harry’s legal team which means he has no criminal record and is once again presumed innocent until proven guilty.
“Accordingly, he is not subject to any international restrictions.”
United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is determined to stand by his captain, who claimed that last Thursday’s fracas was the result of two strangers trying to inject his sister, Daisy, with a date-rape drug.
The problem for United is that it is likely to be more than a year before the retrial takes place which means Maguire could have the criminal charges hanging over his head for the entire season.

Maguire, older brother Joe and family friend Christoper Sharman all continue to maintain their innocence despite this week’s verdict.

But their lack of contrition has not gone unnoticed in Mykonos, where prosecuting lawyer Dr Ioannis Paradissis has called for the defender to make a public apology.
Dr Paradissis, who represented two of the six police officers involved in the case, said: “There is still time for the defendants to say they are sorry and then I believe the outcome might be different because under Greek law you can withdraw some of the accusations.
“My clients have told me that they are still waiting for an apology and this is what I find quite shocking and unsportsmanlike because fair play means that when I’ve done something wrong, I apologise.
“Obviously the claims about the sister being injected is irrelevant concerning the assault committed against the police officers.
“In any case, what is strange about this case is that the sister was interviewed by the police and said nothing about that.
“This is a new line of defence that we have only heard recently.”
But Maguire’s younger brother Laurence, who plays for Chesterfield, took to social media to declare: “Absolutely no chance Harry will be apologising.
“Daisy and no-one in the group was even interviewed by the police.”
