Leeds to make Ryan Kent transfer move from Rangers but only if Bielsa cannot land No1 target Daniel James from Man Utd

LEEDS UNITED will move for Rangers star Ryan Kent if they fail to land top target Daniel James from Manchester United.
Marcelo Bielsa wants to add another winger to his newly-promoted squad at Elland Road, as well as a midfielder, before Monday’s transfer deadline.

The Yorkshire club have been in regular contact with their Premier League rivals but are currently trapped in a frustrating waiting game.
And unless United can finally complete a deal for Sancho, Leeds will have to look elsewhere.
Sun Sport understands it will be Rangers attacker Kent, who has been tipped to make Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions squad, who will be the man Bielsa attempts to recruit.

Despite reports emerging last night over a bid for Norwich City’s Todd Cantwell, Sun Sport understands that is not the case.
The starlet’s agent contacted Leeds to inform them the Canaries had dropped their asking price for the attacker – but it is ex-Liverpool ace Kent who would become their top target should they be unable to net James.
He continued his fine start to the season with his fifth goal of the season during the 4-0 win over Willem II in the Europa League third round on Thursday.
The former Liverpool youngster also played a part in two other goals that night before helping Steven Gerrard’s men to a 5-1 win at Motherwell on Sunday.

The 23-year-old moved to Ibrox a year ago from nfield following a successful loan period and is likely to cost anywhere between £10m-£15m.
However, that potential move hinges on whether Bielsa gets his man in James.
James almost joined Leeds on transfer deadline day back in January 2019, only for Swansea to pull the plug on the deal at the last-minute after he had already passed a medical.
Despite renewed interest from the Yorkshire outfit that summer, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer swooped to bring him to United.

The 22-year-old Welsh star started United’s 3-1 home defeat against Crystal Palace last week but was left out of the squad for Saturday’s 3-2 win at Brighton.
His Norwegian boss willing to let him leave temporarily for the campaign – but only if they bring Sancho to Old Trafford.
United are now believed to be preparing a £90m bid for long-term target Sancho with £65m of it paid upfront.
They have so far failed in every attempt to land their No1 transfer target with Dortmund unwilling to budge on their £108m valuation for the England winger.
And if that stance remains and Sancho stays in Germany, then Leeds will look north of the border to strengthen their flanks with Kent.

Man Utd willing to allow Daniel James to leave on loan transfer to Leeds…but only if Jadon Sancho signs from Dortmund

LEEDS UNITED will land Daniel James on loan from Manchester United – but only if the Red Devils sign Jadon Sancho.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side have been in regular contact with their Premier League rivals over a potential move for the winger, as SunSport revealed two weeks ago.

The 22-year-old Welsh star started United’s 3-1 home defeat against Crystal Palace last week but was left out of the squad for Saturday’s 3-2 win at Brighton.
Now he could finally be about to head across the Pennines to Elland Road with his Norwegian boss willing to let him leave temporarily for the campaign.

However, James is first-choice back-up to Mason Greenwood.
And unless Solskjaer lands a replacement, the speedster will be staying put.
United are now believed to be preparing a £90m bid for long-term target Sancho with £65m of it paid upfront.
They have so far failed in every attempt to land their No1 transfer target – and the window shuts next Monday.

But Borussia Dortmund are unwilling to budge on their £108m valuation for the England winger.
And should a compromise be made, that would also see Leeds switch their attentions elsewhere.

Fans rip into penalty-loving Man Utd after they appear to score AFTER full-time whistle in 100th-minute Brighton win

MANCHESTER UNITED have been accused of ‘finding another cheat level’ after scoring ‘after the final whistle’ against Brighton.
Referee Chris Kavanagh blew for full-time in the 98th minute against The Seagulls with the two teams tied at 2-2.

Rival fans must be scared now , You can’t even celebrate after the final whistle cause United can still find a way to score a penalty 😂
    — Ugbedeojo (@Certifiedopeboi) September 26, 2020

But United players were furiously appealing for a handball – and the official soon had VAR in his ear.
Neal Maupay, who earlier in the game had scored a brilliant panenka penalty, had raised his arm at a Harry Maguire header.
Kavanagh then awarded the visitors a penalty, and Bruno Fernandes did what he usually does and slammed home what turned out to be the winning goal.
And while the decision was the right one according to BT Sport’s former ref Simon Walton, it didn’t stop rival football fans lambasting it.

One posted on Twitter: “Rival fans must be scared now. You can’t even celebrate after the final whistle cause United can still find a way to score a penalty.
JJ Omojuwa posted: “VAR penalty after final whistle? Lol. Man United have unlocked another cheat level.”
Bill Hardy tweeted: “United’s penalty winner came at 90+10, who was refereeing, Alex Ferguson?”
David Messer was not happy, posting that the game was ‘a con’.

United were awarded 22 penalties last season – the most in Premier League history.
The goal, timed at 99mins 45secs, is the latest scored in the Premier League since Juan Mata’s strike for Chelsea against Norwich in August 2011.
Fernandes has now netted his last 17 spot-kicks, not missing one since 2016.
And seemingly fans believe Solskjaer’s side luck with spot-kicks isn’t ending any time soon. More

Brighton 2 Man Utd 3: Fernandes nets penalty winner in 100th minute as Maupay goes from hero to villain in thriller

OLE GUNNAR SOLSKJAER scored a few injury-time winners in his goal-poaching heyday.
But even in the glory days of ‘Fergie Time’, he never managed a decisive goal AFTER the final whistle was blown.

Bruno Fernandes did just that to settle an afternoon of gloriousbedlam and hand Manchester United an extraordinarily lucky victory.
When Solly March – who had just netted a 95th-minute equaliser -cleared a Harry Maguire header off the line, ref Chris Kavanagh blew the final whistle.
Yet he was then persuaded by VAR official Simon Hooper to consult his pitch-side monitor and award a penalty for handball against Neal Maupay.

And all this after Brighton became the first team to hit the goal frame FIVE times in a Premier League match since Opta stats began 17 years ago – with no team ever previously managing four.

Graham Potter’s men struck both crossbars and three of the four posts and were also denied by VAR when they had a debatable penalty award overturned.
So to say that United got lucky to claim this comeback victory is a vast understatement.
A Lewis Dunk own goal and a brilliant Marcus Rashford effort had cancelled out Neal Maupay’s spot-kick opener.
But United were fortunate to avoid back-to-back defeats at the start of a Premier League campaign for the first time in 28 years as Brighton enjoyed more possession and many more scoring opportunities.

    9

Solskjaer ended up with five at the back and two defensive midfielders as United clung on for dear life.
It was a crucial win to lift the mood of despondency around Old Trafford – yet the performance did little to calm those supporters urging United to get busy in the transfer market.
Solskjaer sounded confident that their opening defeat by Crystal Palace had simply been a blip, a result of United starting their season a week late and being caught cold.
But United began tentatively here, with Brighton purposeful and the hosts almost went in front on nine minutes when Leandro Trossard turned and hammered a shot against the post.

Albion’s new sensation, wing-back Tariq Lamptey was soon darting inside, slipping past United players and winning a free-kick.
When United discovered some attacking momentum, Mason Greenwood dragged a shot wide.
But having hit one upright, Trossard then shook the other, anotherturn on the edge of the box followed by a low drive which had David De Gea beaten.
Then the Spanish keeper pushed an Adam Webster header away onto the bar with United rocking.

They might have had the opener on 33 minutes when Anthony Martial toasted Ben White and supplied Marcus Rashford, who squared for Greenwood to shoot home only for an offside flag to deny him.
Yet it was Brighton who took a deserved lead five minutes before the break when Bruno Fernandes – who had won and converted a fair few spot-kicks last season was penalised for tripping Lamptey.
Fernandes, who had already been booked, was fortunate to escape a second yellow but Maupay was as cool as the sea breeze with a dinked slow-motion spot-kick.
United were back on terms within three minutes, though, as Solly March chopped down Luke Shaw and Fernandes delivered a forceful free-kick to the back post where Nemanja Matic forced it back into the centre and Lewis Dunk, under pressure from Maguire, prodded into his own net.

Solskjaer’s men had a huge let-off straight after the restart when Aaron Connolly fell under pressure from Paul Pogba and ref Chris Kavanagh pointed to the spot.
VAR official Simon Hooper told Kavanagh to take a look at his pitch-side monitor and with Maguire yelling ‘Come on Chris, it’s obvious’, the ref decided he had made a clear error, when in truth the decision could have gone either way.
Yet VAR evened it up almost immediately, ruling out a Rashford effort, side-footed home from a Martial cross, for a marginal offside call.
Rashford did not take long to muster an effort which no official, in Brighton or Stockley park could rule out.

    9

Fernandes pierced Brighton’s high defensive line with a sweeping and Rashford did a comprehensive mincemeating job on Ben White, beating then centre-half once, turning down the opportunity then beating him again before thumping home.
The contest was still wide open, thought and Brighton soon struck the woodwork for a fourth time when Maupay fed March who drilled against the inside of the far post.
Pogba, who’d had one of his semi-detached afternoons, was dragged off to make way for Fred as Solskjaer looked to shore up.
Then Trossard battered a shot against the crossbar to bring up Brighton’s extraordinary woodwork stat and De Gea denied Trossard from close-range in injury-time.
But March headed home from a Lamptey cross on 95 minutes but there was time for one more United attack – and for all hell to break loose.

Man United must drop Sancho transfer and make centre back a priority, says Rio Ferdinand as he slams ‘terrible’ defence

MANCHESTER UNITED should put the Jadon Sancho transfer on hold and sort out the ‘terrible’ defence, says club legend Rio Ferdinand.
Ole Gunnar Solksjaer’s side made a miserable start to the new Premier League season with a 3-1 home defeat to Crystal Palace.

Victor Lindelof in particular came in for criticism for his performance, with captain Harry Maguire also slammed in some quarters.
And Ferdinand believes the back-line should be the ‘priority’ – even pushing back United’s long pursuit of Sancho.
Speaking to BT Sport ahead of United’s trip to Brighton, the 41-year-old said: “There’s no point showing them the Palace game back to help them, they’ve been like that in the Europa League semi final, the FA Cup semi final. Nothing changes.
“It was terrible to see. As a centre-back you need to have the ability to smell danger and they never had it.

“This was an area I’ve been mentioning for many months. It’s still not been addressed.
“I want Jadon Sancho, he’s a generational talent but the centre back position should be a priority over anywhere else in the transfer window.”
SunSport has exclusively revealed that United are planning at least two more signings this window.
But a centre-half is not believed to be one of them.

SunSport understands the club are looking to land both Sancho and Alex Telles within the coming weeks.
And Solskjaer, chief exec Ed Woodward and transfer guru Matt Judge are in constant discussions to get the deals over the line.
United are believed to be confident of landing Sancho, with a £90million offer to Borussia Dortmund in the works.
The 20-year-old England winger is keen on a move to Old Trafford, but will not force through a transfer.
Meanwhile, the club are in talks with Porto over a swoop for Telles, with Porto demanding around £18m.
However, the Red Devils are reluctant to pay that much for a 27-year-old left-back in the final year of his contract.
It is understood United have had more than 15 players proposed to them by agents in the past week alone.

Man Utd fans convinced Alex Telles is set to complete transfer from Porto after left-back ‘likes’ Evra post on Instagram

MANCHESTER UNITED fans believes Alex Telles is on his way after the Porto defender ‘liked’ a post by Red Devils legend Patrice Evra.
Boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is reportedly closing in on a deal to bring the left-back to Old Trafford.

He will provide competition for Luke Shaw – but the two clubs are still some way apart on the fee.
Before United’s visit to Brighton, Evra uploaded a clip from the past showing him being screamed at by then boss Sir Alex Ferguson.
The Frenchman’s caption explained that Fergie went mad at him for passing the ball backwards – he says he listened and went on to be man of the match.
The post was liked by Telles – sending United fans into meltdown.

After the screenshot was posted on to Twitter, it certainly didn’t go unnoticed.
Many wrote ‘here we go’, hinting that the transfer must be close.
Joshua Lewis wrote that he was ‘desperate’ for it to mean the 27-year-old was moving to United.
United supporters and fan accounts shared the screenshot as excitement builds ahead of the prospective move.

Telles, 27, has just a year left on his contract and believes the Portuguese side’s asking price of £18m is too high.
He is eager to make the switch to Old Trafford and remains confident he will be a Manchester United player when the deadline shuts on October 5.
Porto are attempting to hold firm in their valuation while United are also continuing to play hardball.
SunSport revealed how United will look at Ajax’s Nicolas Tagliafico for £23m if the Telles deal falls through.
Sergio Reguilon was a target but the Spaniard ended up joining Tottenham, who agreed to a buy-back clause with Real Madrid.

How Man Utd could line up at Brighton with Eric Bailly replacing axed Victor Lindelof as Solskjaer rips apart defence

MANCHESTER UNITED head to Brighton on Saturday looking to get off the mark in the Premier League.
The Red Devils began the campaign in disappointing fashion last weekend as they slipped to a 3-1 home defeat to Crystal Palace.

Mason Greenwood may also return to the Red Devils line-upCredit: Getty

They bounced back from that with a 3-0 win at Luton Town in the Carabao Cup in midweek, leaving boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with several decisions to make ahead of the Seagulls clash.
And perhaps his main one is whether to start with Mason Greenwood in attack.
The 18-year-old hit the headlines earlier this month when he was kicked out of the England squad alongside Manchester City’s Phil Foden for sneaking two girls into the team hotel, breaking strict Icelandic social distancing laws.
Greenwood began on the bench with Dan James favoured instead against the Eagles, and it was the same against Luton, but he did come on to grab a goal at Kenilworth Road.

Now Solskjaer could opt to unleash the hotshot from the off against Brighton as they look to get their league season up-and-running.
And Victor Lindelof looks to be facing the axe this week after United’s calamitous display last Saturday.

    4

How United could start at Brighton on Saturday
The centre-back was all over the place against Roy Hodgson’s men, and now with Eric Bailly fit again, Solskjaer is looking to form a regular partnership between him and Harry Maguire after they impressed at Luton.
New boy Donny van de Beek, who scored against Palace, has been forced to wait for his chance after starting both games on the bench.

Chris Smalling set for Man Utd reunion with Lukaku, Sanchez and Young at Inter Milan as Conte eyes SIXTH Prem transfer

INTER MILAN have reportedly identified Chris Smalling as a possible target should Milan Skriniar depart.
With Tottenham in talks to lure the centre-back away from the San Siro, the Serie A side have targets in mind should they have to replace him.

Inter are already short at the back after Diego Godin left on a free transfer to Cagliari – further intensifying their need for a new defender.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Inter’s No1 priority is Fiorentina star Nikola Milenkovic.
But they state it is unlikely they will be able to prise him away from Florence, with Manchester United outcast Smalling an easier deal to make.
It has been suggested that the Red Devils are prepared to sell the 30-year-old should they receive a fee in the region of £18million.

However Inter are only prepared to fork out £16.4m, which they would pay across three instalments.
Should Smalling join the Nerazzurri, he would link-up with former United team-mates Alexis Sanchez, Ashley Young and Romelu Lukaku at the club.
And his arrival would be the sixth player from the Premier League Antonio Conte would have signed since he took charge last year.
In addition to the four United players, Inter also signed Christian Eriksen from Tottenham in January, while they also brought in Victor Moses on loan last term.

But Inter know they face competition from Roma in the race to secure Smalling’s services.
The Rome outfit are desperate to bring the ex-Fulham ace back to the Stadio Olimpico after his loan spell last campaign.
It has been said that Roma are preparing one last move to sign Smalling, with boss Paulo Fonseca revealing he is in regular contact with the player.
