Man Utd star Martial has first shot on target this season… but it’s an OWN GOAL after he heads in with eyes closed

MANCHESTER UNITED star Anthony Martial had his eyes CLOSED when he headed into his own goal.
That saw PSG equalise after the Frenchman had earlier won his side a penalty that Bruno Fernandes scored from – at the second attempt.

United went on to win 2-1 after another brilliant late goal by Marcus Rashford.
But the result looked in major doubt when, on 55 minutes, Neymar swung in a corner and Martial rose highest only to head past David De Gea into the back of the net.
Slow motion replays show the 24-year-old decided to close his eyes when trying to clear from danger – no wonder he got his angles all wrong.
Martial is yet to have a shot on target this season for Manchester United.

And United fans were left less-thank impressed on social media, with some joking he is now on minus-one for the season.
One fan was left wondering ‘what did he just do’, while others scoffed that he had scored more own goals than goals so far this season.
One even went so far as to describe the United player a ‘fraud’.
But Martial had contributed in a positive way at the Pace des Princes by earning an early penalty that led to United taking the lead.

It led to Fernandes MISSING his second-straight penalty – but was given a reprieve.
The Portuguese midfielder missed a penalty against Newcastle at the weekend, his first failure since October 2018.

Noticeably, he changed his usual hop-skip-jump routine.
And it seemed that bad luck was continuing as PSG keeper Keylor Navas dived low to left to save.
The hop-skip-jump was back, but it didn’t work.
However, the officials judged Navas to have come too far off his line and ordered the re-take.
And this time, with the same routine, Fernandes made no mistake as he rolled it into the same corner he had earlier been thwarted in.

Man Utd announce 25-man Premier League squad with Sergio Romero and Phil Jones both AXED with future in doubt

MANCHESTER UNITED have submitted their 25-man Premier League squad – and it’s bad news for Phil Jones and Sergio Romero.
Both players were linked with moves away from Old Trafford this summer.

    5

And unsurprisingly they have not made the cut.
However, Marcos Rojo – who is back at United following his loan spell with Estudiantes – is included in the squad.
Rojo has not played for United since November 2019.

Romero appears to have fallen to FOURTH choice at the club, with Dean Henderson No2 and veteran Lee Grant No3.

Jones, meanwhile, hasn’t even made a squad this season despite United’s troubles at the back.
Deadline-day signings Alex Telles and Edinson Cavani are also in, as is Facundo Pellestri, who doesn’t count towards the main list as he is under 21.
Jones has not played a single minute so far, and made just two Premier League appearances last year.
SunSport understands the ex-Blackburn youngster could leave in January, with United demanding £20m for him.

A number of Premier League clubs have shown interest in him in the past, and Fulham looked at him this summer.

United only extended his contract last year until 2023 – keeping him on a deal worth nearly £100,000-a-week before bonuses.
But Solskjaer has no plans at present to use Jones much this campaign, with just fleeting appearances in the FA and EFL Cup planned.

Evra went viral in November 2018 when he uploaded perhaps the strangest video of all time.
The Frenchman filmed himself licking, sucking and slapping a raw chicken.
There was no real explanation from the ex-Manchester United star at the time nor since but he has decided to post an ‘upgrade’ clip almost two years later.

The video begins with former West Ham left-back Evra wearing two masks, sunglasses and a cap in front of a cooked chicken.

He pretends to eat a bone before wagging his finger.
And after spraying the bird with what appears to be a disinfectant spray of some kind he bends down and kisses it before applying antibacterial gel to his hands.
But the oddness didn’t stop there as he peeled off his masks before tearing a leg from the carcass and eating it in a slow, erotic and downright bizarre fashion with romantic music playing in the background.
The 39-year-old captioned the post: “Just a quick little upgrade on my chicken video from 2 years ago.

Man Utd and Liverpool in talks over creating £4.6bn European Premier League with Fifa after failed Project Big Picture

MANCHESTER UNITED and Liverpool are reportedly in stunning talks with Fifa about forming a European Premier League made up of 18 teams.

Following their failed Project Big Picture proposal, the two giants of English football have come up with an amazing new plot.

    2

Liverpool owner John W. Henry failed in his attempts to get Project Big Picture approvedCredit: PA:Empics Sport
That idea would have seen the Premier League reduced from 20 to 18 teams and the League Cup and Community Shield scrapped.
SunSport revealed last week how United and Liverpool were to ramp up their attempts of a European Super League if their Project Big Picture proposal was knocked back.
And according to Sky News, financiers, thought to be JP Morgan, are assembling a £4.6billion funding package to assist the creation of the European Premier League.

As well as the English sides, four clubs from Italy and Spain are expected to be included, with three clubs from Germany and France.
They would be set to earn hundreds of millions of pounds.
The project would not see clubs ending their involvement in their domestic leagues.
Up to five English clubs are said to be allowed to join, with a provisional start date of 2022 discussed.

Sky have also reported how Fifa have been involved in developing the new format, which would see fixtures being played during the regular season.
The top-placed clubs would then compete in a knockout format to decide the winner of the tournament.

This would effectively usurp the Champions League, which has been the premier continental competition since the European Cup was rebranded in 1992.
It is unclear whether Uefa have backed the proposal but they have been against the idea in the past.
A formal announcement about the plans is expected to be made public by the end of the month.
United and Liverpool’s Premier League rivals Chelsea, Manchester City, Arsenal and Tottenham have all been approached about joining.

Martin Lipton’s view on European Super League

    HERE we go again.

Another plan for a European Super League.
Same as all the other ones. Doomed to go nowhere.
Except, perhaps, this time it REALLY is serious.
The suggestion of a £4.6billion financing package and income of hundreds of millions per club would make even the mist arch cynic raise an eyebrow.
Factor in the reality that Europe’s biggest clubs are almost unanimous in their desire to open the financial floodgates in the aftermath of the Covid-19 crisis, and the appeal becomes all the greater.
But when you also realise that a new competition would be the ultimate weapon in the bitter war between Fifa and Uefa, it is no wonder that significant sources believe there is a “50-50” chance of the idea becoming reality.
Of course, it might all be an elaborate bluff.
Europe’s football giants know that there is nothing that will make Uefa listen to their complaints more than the prospect of the Champions League becoming a worthless bauble, battled over by the second tier clubs.
Threatening to leave and set up their own competition as soon as 2022 is a power-game move.
It suits the likes of Liverpool, Real Madrid and PSG to let everyone know they mean it.
Even if they don’t, the fear of it being true will bring Uefa to the table, ready, as they always do, to offer compromises to hold European football together.
And, of course, if they do, if it is for real and if it has the blessing of Fifa boss Gianni Infantino – who has already talked about the concept of a global league as well as his new World Club Cup – we could be on the brink of the most momentous decision in the history of the game.
What is clear is that, just like with Project Big Picture, the big boys are no longer content to play the long game.
They want change. Now. And it has to be change they like.
Or they WILL look to go it alone.

The likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and Bayern Munich have also reportedly been approached.
It has also been said that Real president Florentino Perez has been a driving force behind the project.
The proposal is said to have been in the works for over a year, with Fifa president Gianni Infantino speaking to Perez about reforming elements of the game in 2019.
As a result of the global Covid-19 pandemic, talks of the shake-up were accelerated.

While Liverpool are leading the charge for the radical shake-up, one of its club legends is less-than impressed.
Jamie Carragher, who now works as a pundit for Sky Sports, tweeted “oh f*** off” when sharing the story on social media.
And his fellow pundit and former Manchester United defender Gary Neville once again demanded an ‘independent regulator’ is appointed as football takes a dramatic turn.

Man Utd transfer blow as Erling Haaland ‘prefers Real Madrid move’ from Dortmund with release clause activating in 2022

BORUSSIA DORTMUND striker Erling Haaland reportedly favours a move to Real Madrid ahead of Manchester United.
The 20-year-old has continued his goalscoring exploits this season having banged in five goals in six games for the Bundesliga outfit.

And according to ABC, the ex-Red Bull Salzburg star is prioritising a move to the Bernabeu when he eventually departs Germany.

They state that he is keen to play alongside Norwegian compatriot Martin Odegaard at Los Blancos.
Relations between BVB and Real are understood to be excellent, with Dortmund signing Achraf Hakimi and Reinier Jesus on loan in recent campaigns.
Haaland is believed to have a £65million release clause in his contract which will be active in 2022.

United have retained their interest in the player having lost out to Dortmund in January when they brought him in from Austria.
And they are also facing competition from Premier League rivals Chelsea in the race to secure Haaland’s services.
But it is Real that are in pole position to sign him, as they look to partner him alongside Paris Saint-Germain ace Kylian Mbappe.
The LaLiga champions are desperate to land both strikers as well as Rennes starlet Eduardo Camavinga in a £261m splurge.

Despite many labelling Haaland as the complete striker, the player himself has insisted he must be more clinical in front of goal.
Haaland fired in 44 goals last season for Dortmund and Salzburg, though he has stressed he should have scored half a century.
Speaking to local Dortmund newspaper Ruhr Nachrichten, Haaland said: “My finishing needs to improve, I need to be more clinical, more ruthless.
“I also need to get better in linking up with my team-mates. I know that.
“I watch replays of my goals quite a lot, I’m constantly trying to learn more about goalscoring.
“I don’t only watch the goals I score, I watch other players’ as well – how and where do they score, what’s their position before the ball arrives, how do they move?
“I analyse all these little details that could help me to score more goals. So I’ve watched all 44 of my goals from last season quite a lot.
“I actually think about all the chances I missed, I could easily have scored over 50 goals last season.”

Man Utd ‘misjudged’ Jadon Sancho transfer, claims Dortmund chief as he reveals star is not ‘unsellable’

MANCHESTER UNITED ‘misjudged’ their chase of Jadon Sancho in the summer, according to Borussia Dortmund chief Hans-Joachim Watzke.
But the German giants’ CEO admitted the England winger, 20, is ‘not unsellable’.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Co were desperately chasing Sancho all summer.
But after a number of failed attempts, United were forced to give up and ended the transfer window in disappointment – despite a flurry of deadline days signings.
Dortmund had set United officials a deadline of August 10 to meet their £108million valuation.
But Old Trafford bosses played it all-too casually and waiting until much later in the transfer window, in order to attempt to secure a cut-price fee.

United had offered £70m plus add-ons for Sancho – but Dortmund remained firm all summer, with the winger committing his future to the club, despite reportedly being keen on a move back to England.
And now, Dortmund CEO Watzke has revealed United ‘misjudged’ their summer plot – but opened the door for the Premier League side to make another move.
Watzke said: “[Man Utd] misjudged the situation.
“We had a clear line and will continue to do so next summer.

“In this industry, you can never say that a player is completely unsellable.
“I heard and read everywhere in the spring that Sancho was gone. But he’s here.
“We had an agreement with him.”
United ultimately settled for the deadline-day signings of Edinson Cavani, Alex Telles, Facundo Pellistri and Amad Diallo.
But this summer was arguably the best chance United had of signing Sancho.
The Red Devils were one of few clubs in the world with the financial clout to pull off a deal, due largely to the financial impact of coronavirus.
But come 2021, many clubs may be in stronger positions to make a move of their own.
Sancho currently has two-and-a-half years left on his contract at Dortmund.
