Roy Keane visits local food bank to help out charity as Man Utd hardman shows caring side in his community

ROY KEANE was spotted visiting a local food bank to help out as he showed off his caring side.
The acid-tongued Sky Sports pundit, 49, has made headlines for a series of scathing attacks this season.

Roy Keane surprised volunteers at Cork Penny Meals to help dish out food to the hungry

Keane called Kyle Walker an ‘idiot’ for his ‘car crash defending’ against Liverpool, with Manchester City complaining to Sky.
The ex-Manchester United star has also slammed his former team time and time again for their lack of fight at times this term.
But the Irish legend proved he has a softer side too, dropping in on local charity Cork Penny Dinners to help dish out food to those in need.
Keane headed home to Ireland to get his hands dirty at one of Cork’s oldest charities – who give away up to 2,000 meals per day.

And according to one charity worked, Keane’s visit was no one-off.
Catriona Twomey, a Cork Penny Dinners volunteer, told radio station 96fm: “He had time for everyone.
“One of our volunteers didn’t believe it, because Roy was wearing the mask.

“It only came off for the photograph.

“It was only then the volunteer believed it… he thought we were pranking him!
“He’s very good to us, Roy. He always pops in.”

Man Utd star Donny van de Beek ‘being eyed by Juventus in shock transfer just months after joining from Ajax’

JUVENTUS are reportedly plotting a swoop to sign Donny van de Beek from Manchester United.
The 23-year-old Dutch midfielder only arrived at Old Trafford from Ajax in a £39million in the summer.

Despite excitement over his signing, fans have seen more of him sat on the bench rather than the pitch.
He has played just 86 minutes of Premier League action for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side so far this campaign.
Now CalcioMercato claims Juventus are considering an attempt to reunite him with Netherlands international team-mate Matthijs de Ligt, his ex-Ajax colleague.

The Italian news outlet claims Juventus believe a January transfer for Van de Beek is unlikely.
However, their chief football officer Fabio Paratici is keen to arrange a loan move with a £30m option to buy at the end of the deal next summer.
Despite his frustrations domestically over a lack of top-flight action, the ace did impress everyone with his performance in the Champions League this week.
After a great display in Tuesday’s 4-1 group stage victory over Istanbul Basaksehir, former United stars Owen Hargreaves and Rio Ferdinand sung his praises.

And they both called for Solskjaer to let him off the leash.

Hargreaves said: “Van de Beek is so unselfish that he can just fit in.
“I think he’s played himself into the starting lineup.”
Ferdinand added: “I was really was pleased with him. We’ve been impatient ourselves but Ole has shown why he has been thought of so highly.
“He’s the one player than can play one-touch two-touch and keep it simple. He sacrifices parts of his game to help other people and you need that in great times.
“He’s the one player that will make other players play well.”

Man Utd ‘very, very likely’ to sign AC Milan star Hakan Calhanoglu on a free transfer in the summer of 2021

AC MILAN playmaker Hakan Calhanoglu is reportedly ‘very likely’ to join Manchester United on a free transfer next summer.
The 26-year-old – who is in the final year of his contract in Italy – has been heavily linked with a switch to Old Trafford in 2021.

Calhanoglu has been in fine form for the Italian side this campaign having chipped in with four goals and as many assists in 13 games.

And according to SportBild journalist Christian Falk, the Red Devils are in advanced talks to bring the Turkish international to the Theatre of Dreams.
Juventus were also keen to snap the ex-Bayer Leverkusen up, but the player is claimed to have rejected the Old Lady in the hope of joining United.

Asked about the club’s interest in Calhanoglu, Falk told the Stretford Paddock: “It’s true and I think this will happen because last summer there were already talks with his agent.
“I don’t know if you know but Juventus would have also have liked him last summer but he said ‘no’.
“He said no because he already knew what would happen this summer with United.
“Talks are already very, very far at the moment and he’ll be a free agent, so this transfer is very, very likely.

“He can be a good player if everything around him is working, then he can help United.

“He’s not the kind of player that if something went wrong he’d say ‘now we have to fight’.
“He’s a technical player, perhaps it is (Paul) Pogba to show him the way. Then I feel like he could do it at United.”
Gazzetta dello Sport reported last month that United were willing to offer Calhanoglu a five-year deal.
They have claimed that the midfielder is ‘frustrated’ by Milan’s £54,000-a-week offer.
Arsenal were also in for the player in January as Mikel Arteta looked to sign him on loan, but the Gunners failed in their pursuit.

Bruno Fernandes perfect for Man Utd ‘because he doesn’t care about mistakes and only success’, says Nani

BRUNO FERNANDES is the perfect fit at Manchester United because he ‘only thinks about success’.
That’s the opinion of former Red Devil Nani, who isn’t surprised the fans are ‘going crazy’ for the classy midfielder.

Fernandes has been a revelation for United since joining from Porto in a £55million deal in February.
The 26-year-old has scored nine goals in 13 appearances so far this season for the Premier League side.
But Nani, who says he urged Fernandes to sign for United, isn’t surprised.
⚽ Read our Man United live blog for the latest news from Old Trafford

The 34-year-old, who is now playing for Orlando City FC, told the United Review: “A big part of this team is Bruno Fernandes. Bruno now is a much better player than when we were playing together.
“He was doing great in Portugal but the Portuguese league is not the same as the Premier League.
“I saw so much potential in Bruno and I told him to go to England if he decided to move to another league.
“I said to him: ‘Your game will fit there and the fans will go crazy for you!’

“The style of his football is something fans appreciate. He is a player who likes to take risks in the game, who wants to take the responsibility of the game on his back and make difficult passes, dribbles and shots.

“He doesn’t care about mistakes; he only thinks about success and making the team have success. He knows what that takes. That’s Man United, isn’t it?
“Bruno has done so well until now, scoring goals and setting up a lot of goals, but he will keep improving and making the team even better.”
The Portuguese playmaker’s stunning impact at Manchester United was evident once again following more heroics in last night’s Champions League win over Basaksehir.
And SunSport has revealed how Fernandes has the most goals and assists of any Premier League player since his explosive arrival in February.
In that time, Fernandes has scored more goals (21) than any other Prem rival, and is joint top of the assists chart with Kevin de Bruyne on 13.
Harry Kane is one goal behind and has played 11 games fewer, while De Bruyne has also not been as busy as Fernandes.
But the stats show what a remarkable piece of business the 26-year-old was.
He has a total of 34 goals and assists since February 1 in all competitions, three more than Spurs leader Kane.

Man Utd and Liverpool eye Samuel Chukwueze transfer with Villareal winger also being looked at by Chelsea

MANCHESTER UNITED are reportedly eyeing a swoop for Villarreal winger Samuel Chukwueze.
The 21-year-old Nigerian has caught the eye over the past two years since his breakthrough into the Spanish side’s first-team.

He remains under contract with the La Liga outfit until 2023.
And that deal includes a massive £71million release clause.
Despite that, La Razon claims United are among a host of clubs plotting a transfer move for the versatile attacker.

Chukwueze is capable of playing on either flank, and his displays for Villarreal have secured him a whole host of admirers.
The Spanish publication claims Chelsea, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Leicester City and Everton are also keen.
Liverpool have also entered the race to secure his services.
And according to today’s reports, either Old Trafford or Anfield are believed to be the most likely destination for the African.

United have long-been linked with a move for Borussia Dortmund wide-man Jadon Sancho.

They were priced out of a deal over the summer window after the German side refused to drop their £127m valuation.
That means Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could instead opt for the cheaper alternative and go all-out to sign Chukwueze.
The star helped his country to Under-17 World Cup success in 2015 and won the Bronze Boot award at the tournament before going on to continue his progress in Spain.

Man Utd boss Solskjaer must trust Van de Beek in Premier League soon as £40m star is creative spark vs Basaksehir

WHAT MORE does Donny van de Beek have to do to be trusted in the Premier League?
Since his £40m summer arrival at Manchester United from Ajax, the Dutchman has started three out of four Champions League group games, including the stroll past Istanbul Basaksehir.

Donny van de Beek has done enough to warrant a regular starting spot at UnitedCredit: Getty Images – Getty

It was a performance full of forward-thinking efficiency, consistency and creativity from the heart of a United midfield that has been lacking in those departments.
Yet he has started none of United’s eight league games so far, playing just 88 minutes. And when he has, it has been alongside four different midfield partners.
It must be a bizarre feeling to be depended on against last year’s semi-finalists Red Bull Leipzig in Europe’s elite competition, but limited to just 11 minutes at home to West Brom.

And after yet another impressive Euro display, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer must be running out of excuses.
One of his excuses, the enigma that is Paul Pogba, was taken out of the United boss’ hands last night after revealing the Frenchman remains troubled with injuries.
“His ankle has swollen up,” said Solskjaer. “He trained yesterday but it didn’t feel right. This morning it was just confirmation he couldn’t play.”
A blessing in disguise for Van de Beek perhaps, who continues to show – in Europe at least – what an asset he can be for United when used correctly.

One of the issues facing Van de Beek is Bruno Fernandes, who scored twice in a driven performance. The comparisons are constant, but unnecessary.

Van de Beek is just not that sort of player, and ironically, showed just how helpful he can be to Fernandes when deployed as a holding No.6 against Istanbul.
Former Dutch international Rafael Van der Vaart half-jokingly suggested earlier this month that his compatriot is the only United player who can ‘kick a marble’.
He arguably has a point; last night’s passing display and control over the game was full of exactly what United’s front line have been crying out for – forward-thinking passes.
Nothing fancy or spectacular, but brave, accurate, and almost always into the feet of United’s most dangerous player in Fernandes.
That exact combination ended with Marcus Rashford having a well-worked goal ruled out for offside, while a round-the-corner pass in his own half sparked the attack for Fernandes’ second.

Van de Beek has staked his claim for a place in Solskjaer’s starting XICredit: EPA
United legends Rio Ferdinand and Paul Scholes saw it too.
“He is a breath of fresh air,” admitted Rio. “He is getting the ball and transitioning it to attacking areas well. A big difference to what we have seen in the last few weeks.”
Scholes agreed: “His link-up play with Bruno was very clever.”
In fairness to Ole, there still remain doubts over Van de Beek out of possession.
But with the ball, it is hard to find a player in this current United squad that can manipulate the ball, spark attacks and keep it ticking better than Donny.
And with Pogba a doubt for the weekend trip to Southampton, all eyes will be on Ole’s team sheet.
Another place on the bench for Donny in the league, and he may just lose his marbles. More

Man Utd legend Scholes left baffled after selfless Fernandes gives up hat-trick chance AGAIN to hand pen to Rashford

MANCHESTER UNITED legend Paul Scholes was left baffled after Bruno Fernandes selflessly gave up the chance to grab a hat-trick AGAIN.
The Portuguese playmaker, 26, once claimed he ‘doesn’t care’ who scores, so long as he’s helping the team.

And he proved that for a second time in three games during Tuesday night’s clash with Istanbul Basaksehir.
Just before the international break, in the 3-1 win at Everton, Fernandes squared for Edinson Cavani to score his first goal for the club, despite being clean through himself.
And Fernandes was at it again at Old Trafford on Tuesday having already put United in a commanding position.
Fernandes blasted home a thunderbolt of a half-volley in the seventh minute to give his side the lead over the Turkish champions – who won their home game against United 2-1.

The midfielder netted again a little over ten minutes later, taking advantage of poor goalkeeping, to double his side’s lead.
Shortly after the half an hour mark, Rashford was brought down in the penalty area.
As Man Utd’s designated – and prolific – penalty taker, Fernandes looked a dead-cert to bag a Champions League hat-trick.

But instead he generously gave the ball to Rashford, who duly converted – scoring his first goal since his treble against RB Leipzig on October 28.

The decision baffled club legend Scholes – who revealed his bemusement at half-time while working as a pundit for BT Sport.
Scholes said: “I don’t get it… Fernandes has taken all the penalties when he’s played.
    “It’s a chance to get a hat-trick on a European night. I don’t understand it.
“But fortunately we got the same result anyway.”
Fernandes explained his decision after the game – ultimately won 4-1 by United – saying he’d already told Rashford the next penalty, whenever that came, would be his.
The Portuguese star revealed: “Of course every player wants to score a hat-trick…
“But after the last game in the Premier League I told Rashford he could take the next one… I remembered that.
“And also because he is one of the top-scorers in the Champions League I think it will be important for him to keep going there, and getting that confidence.
“It doesn’t matter who takes the penalties, the most important thing is scoring, and the team scores.
“When the team scores, I score too.”

Carlos Tevez ‘to retire at end of season’ aged 36 after glittering career with Man Utd, City, Juventus and Boca Juniors

CARLOS TEVEZ is set to retire at end of the season at the age of 36 following a glittering career, according to reports.
The Argentine turned out for Manchester United, City, West Ham, Juventus and Boca Juniors amongst others during his near-20-year career.

Now reports in the striker’s home nation claim Tevez is set to finally hang up his boots following his third spell at his hometown team, Boca Juniors.
El Destape claim Tevez is set to retire imminently for a number of reasons, including his father’s ill health.
The report also states the Argentine has aspirations of moving into politics after striking up a friendship with former president Mauricio Macri.
Tevez first moved to England in 2006 as he joined Javier Mascherano in signing for West Ham in a shock double-swoop.

The move was mired in controversy after the pair were found to be partially-owned by agent Kia Joorabchian.
West Ham were fined £5.5million, and after they narrowly avoided relegation at the expense of Sheffield United the club later agreed to pay the Blades £4m per year for five years in compensation.
After a single, spectacular season at the Hammers – where he almost single-handedly helped them avoid relegation – Tevez secured a move to Man Utd.
In two season, Tevez teamed up with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney in one of football’s all-time great front threes.

    CARLOS TEVEZ: CAREER IN NUMBERS

Teams: Boca Juniors, Corinthians, West Ham, Man Utd, Man City, Juventus, Boca Juniors, Shanghai Shenhua, Boca Juniors
    Club games: 718
    Club goals: 302
    Argentine top-flight titles: 5
    Brazilian top-flight titles: 1
    Premier League titles: 3
    Serie A titles: 2
    Champions League titles: 1
    Other club trophies: 13
    International games: 76
    International goals: 13
International trophies: 2004 Olympic Games gold medal

The striker won the Premier League in both of his seasons at Old Trafford, as well as the 2008 Champions League, before embarking on another shock move – joining ‘noisy neighbours’ Man City.
In four seasons at the Etihad, Tevez helped City secure their first-ever Premier League title, depriving United of the crown thanks to Sergio Aguero’s late heroics on the final day of the 2011-12 season against QPR.
However, his time at City was also not without its controversy.
In September 2011 – the start of the title-winning season – then-boss Roberto Mancini claimed Tevez refused to come off the bench against Bayern Munich.
The dispute led to Tevez going on gardening leave – and being fined – before making his return to the team in March 2012.
A year later, he went on to join Juventus – where he would win back-to-back Serie A titles – before heading home to Boca Juniors.
Barring a failed, year-long stint at Chinese Super League side Shanghai Shenhua, Tevez has stayed loyal to Boca ever since his 2015 move.
But now it’s claimed Tevez will hang up his boots and embark on a new career away from football, in the political world.
