And with the 2018 World Cup winner having just one year left on his contract, the Red Devils are looking to lure him to Old Trafford in a cut-price deal.
It has been claimed that Varane is keen to link up with United, who are still haggling over his transfer fee.
United are believed to be ready to fork out £43million on the defender, while Real are holding out for £50m.
And Varane is not prepared to go on strike to force through a move to the Theatre of Dreams as he wishes to show his respect to Real president Florentino Perez.
According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Varane has returned to Los Blancos’ training ground as talks with United and Real continue.
He tweeted: “Raphael Varane has just arrived at Valdebebas as he’s not breaking his relationship with Real Madrid – respecting the club and Perez.
“He knows Manchester United are in talks with Real Madrid – he wants Premier League experience.
“Contract almost ready, up to the clubs.”

Despite winning four Champions League titles during his time at Real, former Tottenham midfielder Jamie O’Hara has expressed concerns over the player.
He told talkSPORT: “My question would be, why is he leaving Real Madrid veryone’s making out he’s the best centre-half in the world, so why is he leaving Real Madrid?
“They need a centre-half and if they did get him, it improves the team massively. It would be a top signing and it was a position they definitely needed to improve.
“It’s world class, Varane and Maguire. But I’d worry a little bit potentially for pace. I saw Varane get torn apart by Chelsea in the Champions League.
“Pace would be something that teams would try and exploit against them two.”

Maguire and Varane would be ‘world class’ for Man Utd but not as good as Liverpool pair due to fatal flaw, says O’Hara

JAMIE O’HARA believes Liverpool’s centre-back pairing of Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez would be better than Harry Maguire and Raphael Varane.Manchester United are understood to have agreed a deal in principle with Real Madrid to bring French defender Varane to Old Trafford.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been keen to find a suitable partner for England international Maguire with Victor Lindelof guilty of inconsistent performances.
And while United fans are purring over the potential arrival of the 2018 World Cup winner, O’Hara has expressed concern over the 28-year-old.
The former Tottenham midfielder has stated that while Maguire and Varane would form a world class partnership, they could be exposed by pace.
He told talkSPORT: “My question would be, why is he leaving Real Madrid?
“Everyone’s making out he’s the best centre-half in the world, so why is he leaving Real Madrid?

Before adding: “You look at Liverpool, when Van Dijk and Gomez are fit, they’ve got pace to get them out of trouble.”
And O’Hara has also taken aim at Arsenal over their pursuit of Sheffield United goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.
The 34-year-old criticised their decision to sell Emiliano Martinez to Aston Villa last year, despite the Argentine ace unwilling to compete with Bernd Leno for the No1 shirt.

Man Utd ‘AGREE Raphael Varane deal in principle’ with just transfer fee left to thrash out with Real Madrid

MANCHESTER UNITED have reportedly agreed a deal in principle to sign Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane. The 28-year-old centre-back has been negotiating a deal with the Premier League giants in what would be one of the biggest signings of the summer.
Man Utd are now speaking ‘directly’ to Real Madrid regarding a transfer for Raphael VaraneCredit: Getty
According to Telefoot, all that is left is for Real and United to agree a transfer fee for the French defender.
Man Utd are said to be offering a fee in the region of £43million but Madrid are holding out for a sum in excess of £50m.
Italian football journalist Fabrizio Romano had earlier offered an update and claims the two clubs have been in talks for the past week.
He tweeted: “Manchester United are in direct contact with Real Madrid for Raphaël Varane since one week. Varane wants a Premier League experience but he’ll be respectful. He’s not breaking his relationship with Real. It’s up to the two clubs to reach an agreement. Talks on.”
Varane’s contract in the Spanish capital has now entered the final 12 months and he could potentially walk away for nothing next year.
This means Madrid will have to sell him now if they expect to receive a sizeable transfer fee for the former Lens ace.
Varane signed for Los Blancos back in 2011 and has played 360 times for the club.
In a glittering period at Madrid, the defender has won three LaLiga titles, the Copa del Rey and four Champions Leagues.
During that time he has also won the 2018 World Cup with France where he was named in the team of the tournament.
United are hopeful they will secure Varane’s services within the next 12 days.
It is believed they will make an offer to sign the France international this week, with personal terms not believed to be an issue. Chelsea have also been linked with a move for the ex-Lens ace, but the player’s preference is to join United.

Boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer laughed off talk of Varane’s imminent arrival at Carrington after the 2-1 friendly win against Derby on Sunday.
Asked for his view on the potential deal, Solskjaer could not conceal a smile.
Laughing, he said: “Varane? I only speak about players when we sign them.”

Man Utd’s worst XI of 21st century includes Bebe, Di Maria and Alexis Sanchez.. but does Van de Beek make flop team?

FOR ALL their success this century, Manchester United have also endured their fair share of flops in the transfer market. The latest player struggling to make an impact at Old Trafford is Dutch international Donny van de Beek.
Donny van de Beek has struggled since his arrival at Man Utd last summerCredit: PA
United’s Worst XI of the 21st Century
He only joined United from Ajax last August in a £35million deal and got off to a flyer when scoring on his debut against Crystal Palace.
However, the midfielder has struggled since and he ended last term having made just four starts out of the club’s 38 Premier League games and has been linked with a move away.
But does that disappointing campaign earn him a spot in United’s worst XI of the 21st Century?
The United End’s Tom McDermott tells us below as he picks his very own team of Red Devils flops:
    Anders Lindegaard
Lindegaard spent five seasons at the club, but they were largely forgettable, supporting Edwin van der Sar and David De Gea.
On reflection, Lindegaard wasn’t a bad ‘keeper but lacked the composure and experience to hold down the number one jersey on a permanent basis.
    Alexander Buttner
Buttner was described by Sir Alex Ferguson as ‘one of the best young left-backs in Europe’ when he signed in 2012, and was part of the title winning squad in 2013.
After Ferguson’s retirement though, he’s drifted to some of the lesser known teams in the football world.
Marcos Rojo failed to impress at Old Trafford and spent most of the time sidelinedCredit: Getty
    Marcos Rojo
How Rojo survived at United for so long, I’ll never know.
Signed by Louis van Gaal in 2014, the versatile defender spent more time in the treatment room and sidelines than on the pitch.
When he did play, he struggled to cope with the rhythm of the English game.
    Guillermo Varela
David Moyes’ first transfer as Manchester United manager was the unknown Uruguayan.
Varela was signed after impressing both with his home club, Penarol, and in the South American youth championships.
In hindsight it was probably a step he couldn’t handle.
    Bebe
In 2010, United spent £7.4m to sign Tiago Manuel Dias Correia, otherwise known as Bebe.
Bebe was recommended to Ferguson by his former assistanT Carlos Queiroz, with the Scot later admitting that he hadn’t seen him play.
Given the criticism he received, he did go on to have a reasonable career in Spain.
Sir Alex Ferguson signed Bebe without even watching him playCredit: PA:Empics Sport

    Morgan Schneiderlin
Schneiderlin played over 30 times for United, but I can’t remember one single appearance.
Joined after several impressive years at Southampton it always felt like the club was too big for him.
Struggled from the day he joined to find any form.
    Kleberson
The Brazil World Cup winner just edges out Eric Djemba-Djemba.
Kleberson joined at the same time as Cristiano Ronaldo and after some decent early showings completely lost his way.
It was never going to be easy competing with Roy Keane, Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt for a starting spot.
    Wilfried Zaha
Zaha was Ferguson’s last signing at the club and immediately loaned back to Palace which meant he never worked under United’s greatest manager.
Moyes was left to pick up the pieces, but Zaha wasn’t the polished attacker he is today.
    Memphis Depay
    Right player, wrong time.
Depay has rebuilt his career well but lacked the maturity at United to establish himself properly.
If he had joined under Ferguson’s leadership and given more time, he may well have flourished.
    Angel Di Maria
Great excitement when he joined but he never really wanted to be there in the first place.
Off-field problems didn’t help, but Di Maria and United were just never meant to be.
Fans let him know how special he was to them when he returned with Paris Saint-Germain in 2019.

    Alexis Sanchez
What a disaster. Similar to Di Maria in that you got the impression that he never really wanted to be at the club.
Left for Inter and won Serie A with them, but his days as a world class forward have not been seen since his time at Arsenal.

De Gea and Henderson meet even MORE competition for Man Utd No1 spot as Williams ‘channels inner Schmeichel’ in training

The Red Devils, who beat Derby 2-1 on Sunday, were at work at their Carrington HQ earlier.
And the club have released a clip of the 20-year-old full-back diving around saving shots as he attempted to join the goalkeepers’ union.
The fight for the Old Trafford No1 jersey is already hotting up ahead of the new campaign.
David De Gea will cut short his holidays this week in a desperate bid to regain his place in the starting XI.
The Spaniard ended last season behind Dean Henderson in the battle to be Solskjaer’s first-choice keeper.
With England stopper Henderson already back in pre-season training after a hip injury ended his own Euro dream, De Gea knows the pressure is on and will return to Carrington after just TWO weeks off.
The 30-year-old sat on the bench for Spain at the Euros and was not due to report from his summer break until the start of August.
But De Gea is determined to fight and win back his starting spot with United boss Solskjaer still undecided over who will be his top dog when the new season kicks off next month.
Meanwhile, Williams’ loan move to Southampton has hit the skids – because of the size of the loan fee.
United are understood to be looking for more than £2million to let another club borrow the versatile full-back.
Saints have been keen on the 20-year-old since last summer but see that price as too much.

It means a deal is looking increasingly unlikely unless United reduce their demands.
The youngster has made 51 appearances for United in all competitions since making his professional debut against Rochdale in the League Cup in September 2019.
Norwich and Newcastle have also shown interest in loaning Williams.

Watch ex-Man Utd star Rojo lash out at security guard and grab FIRE EXTINGUISHER during crazy Boca Juniors riot

FORMER Manchester United star Marcos Rojo appeared to punch a security guard before grabbing a fire extinguisher during Boca Juniors’ crazy riot on Tuesday night. The Argentine side crashed out of the Copa Libertadores following a 3-1 penalty shootout loss away to Brazilian side Atletico Mineiro.

Marcos Rojo appeared to punch a security guard during the sour scenes after the Copa Libertadores clash
After the game, Boca players rioted in the tunnel and changing rooms – spending a night in jail for their brutal antics.
Now a series of videos have surfaced which appear to show Rojo in the thick of it.
The ex-United defender seems to punch a security guard in one clip.
And in another, Rojo can been seen grabbing a fire extinguisher as the riot reached boiling point.
The carnage was only controlled after military police arrived with pepper spray, according to an Atletico statement.
According to ESPN, Boca stars spat and attacked police officers, as well as the Atletico Mineiro team.
Peruvian defender Carlos Zambrano and Colombian striker Sebastian Villa were both booked by the military police in the aftermath of the brawl.
But instead of the duo going to the police station alone, the entire Boca Juniors team decided to join them for the night.
Coach Miguel Angel Russo said: “If the two stay, we stay too. Let’s go all or none.”
    ‘PEPPER SPRAYED’
A police officer told Boca officials: “The security forces have to take legal action.
“Employees of the Boca Juniors team have shared footage from the internal cameras with us.
“So far, they have identified two Boca players in crimes of property damage.”
An Atletico Mineiro statement added: “After the game, Boca athletes went down the tunnel and went to the visitors’ locker room.
“A few minutes later, players and the coaching staff of the Argentine team left the venue and, in a block, headed towards the referees’ locker room.
“Security guards from Galo and Mineirao tried, unsuccessfully, to contain them.
“The Argentines then decided to invade Galo’s locker room, where there were players, commission and board.
“On the way, they attacked everyone they came across, in addition to breaking drinking fountains and protective railings.
“The MP [military police] arrived after some time and drove off the attackers with pepper spray.”

It has not yet been confirmed by the police how many players have been indicted following the incident.
The Boca players are now expected to return to Argentina on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, the two teams had played out a goalless draw, before the match went to penalties – won by Atletico Mineiro – sparking sour scenes.

Lingard is back at his boyhood club after a brilliant loan spell with the Hammers in the second half of last season reignited his career.
He scored nine goals in 16 appearances for the East London side and was the Premier League Player of the Month award for April.
It also earned Lingard an England recall as part of Gareth Southgate’s initial Euro 2020 squad.
He appeared in both warm-up friendlies against Austria and Romania but just failed to make the final cut for the tournament.
Lingard has recently enjoyed a holiday in Mykonos and headed back to United after a stint in quarantine after his jollies.
West Ham still want to sign the star permanently but have so far been unable to agree a fee with the Red Devils.
However, Lingard will be hoping to get back into the groove this weekend.

After a heart-to-heart with Asher-Smith about the upcoming Games in Tokyo and the ongoing fight against racism, Neville was challenged to a 100m dash by the sprinter and coach John Blackie.
Despite being given a 10m headstart, Neville managed pull his hamstring just seconds in – before blaming 2019 Sports Personality Coach of the Year, Blackie.
After pulling up just a few metres in, Neville squeaked: “Oh no! I knew it would go. It was always going to go, wasn’t it?
“Coach, you didn’t warm me up properly.
“Coach of the Year? He’s pulled my hamstring!”
Neville never pulled his hamstring during his 19-year playing career for United and England – despite making 687 appearances in all competitions for club and country.
In fact, the right-back only ever suffered one major injury – an ankle issue that kept him sidelined for 11 months in 2007.
Incredibly, having retired in 2011, Neville has since pulled his hamstring TWICE.

Nev was forced off after just half an hour of the exhibition match after chasing after Craig Bellamy.
