Speaking to the media ahead of the clash, Solskjaer said: “He’s had a good week with us here.
“He’ll definitely be on the pitch at some point, that’s for sure.”
Solskjaer would not be drawn as to whether the Portugal star would start the game at Old Trafford.
Ronaldo is ready to feature having had a pre-season with Juventus and also having played the full game for Portugal in a World Cup qualifier against Ireland last week.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has been training at United since Tuesday.
Solskjaer said he expects Ronaldo to play at the top level until he is 40 years old, like another United great in Ryan Giggs.

In this summer’s most sensational of transfers, Ronaldo made an emotional return to Old Trafford, signing a two year deal with the option of a third.
United managed to get the prolific striker for just £12m.
Solskjaer has promised Manchester United fans an even better Ronaldo than they had before.
The gaffer says he still has the same speed but has become a better all round player and one of the best finishers ever.
He’s in such good nick still and will be looking in the next few years to play and score as many goals as he canOle Gunnar SolskjaerOn Cristiano Ronaldo
Solskjaer said: “He has evolved as a player. I don’t think you’ll see see those 18,19, 20 step overs before he goes past you but he still has them, the step over, shift and shoot.
“He has developed into one of the most accurate finishers I have seen.
“What he developed in his years at Real Madrid has impressed us all.
“He is one of the best of course in the air, his timing and desire to get on the end of crosses is second to non.
“He still hits the target 99 times out of 100 when he shoots from outside the box as well.
“He knows the game more, definitely, he knows which positions to drop into and when to run in behind and he is still as quick it looks like from the stats.
“He’s in such good nick still and will be looking in the next few years to play and score as many goals as he can.
“We don’t have his skill set in the team, the mix, no one has really. He is one of the best players that’s ever played the game.”
    FRED IN AWE
And he has already left his team-mates stunned by his fitness levels at the club’s Carrington training centre.
Midfielder Fred was asked if the 36-year-old looks sharp in training to which he replied: “Of course, yeah!
“He is an amazing player, you know the difference when you look at Cristiano Ronaldo.
“With the ball, without the ball, he works a lot and it’s so good for us. We are so happy to have Cristiano here.
“We know who Cristiano Ronaldo is because he likes to win, he pushes everyone, so you need to be at your best to get with him.
“It’s so good for us because he pushes everyone, we can win every game, so it’s so important.”
He become a fan favourite during a six-year stint at the club in which he won the Premier League three times, the Champions League, the FA Cup, the League Cup twice and the Fifa Club World Cup.

He scored 118 goals in 292 games before leaving in 2009 to join Real Madrid for £80million.
He spent nine seasons in Spain before moving to Juventus in Italy in 2018.
Ronaldo — dubbed CR7 — has already told of his happiness at reclaiming the club’s No 7 shirt and declared: “I’m really glad and looking forward to starting my first game.”

Only ONE of Cristiano Ronaldo’s team-mates from first Man Utd debut still plays football after Djemba-Djemba retirement

ONLY one of Cristiano Ronaldo’s team-mates from his Manchester United debut is yet to retire. The Red Devils centre-forward, 36, came off the bench against Bolton in the opening match of the 2003-04 Premier League season.

And it didn’t take long for the Portuguese star to make an impact at Old Trafford after replacing Nicky Butt in the 61st minute.
The Sporting Lisbon academy graduate won a penalty after being hauled down by Kevin Nolan, which Ruud van Nistelrooy subsequently missed.
Ronaldo finished his opening season in England by winning the FA Cup, with the five-time Ballon d’Or winner opening the scoring against Millwall in the 3-0 final win.
Incredibly, Ronaldo is just one of two players from United’s matchday squad against the Trotters yet to hang up his boots.
    The other? Goalkeeper Roy Carroll.
Former midfielder Eric Djemba-Djemba has become the latest of his ex-team-mates to call it quits at the age of 40.
Though it shouldn’t come as a surprise to fans with the Cameroonian not having played in SIX years.

Speaking of his decision to retire, he said: “I can say to you today, that I’m officially retiring from playing football.
“I have an academy in Cameroon and I am going to focus on trying to help educate the young players there on how to become a footballer, and how to build a successful career as a footballer.
    “Today, I’m stopping playing football.”
That means that only goalkeeper Carroll, who was an unused substitute against Bolton 18 years ago, is still playing.
Though the 43-year-old is without a club having left Northern Irish outfit Dungannon Swifts in the summer.
Carroll featured in 20 games for the Swifts as the club finished bottom of the table.

Ronaldo is currently preparing for his possible second United debut against Newcastle at Old Trafford on Saturday.
The ex-Real Madrid ace is the only player yet to retire from the United side that last played the Magpies with him in the team.
And the former Juventus man was allegedly called ‘ugly’ by defender Steven Taylor during a heated exchange at half-time.

In a career that saw him play 34 times for his country, Djemba-Djemba’s last club side was Swiss team Football Club Vallorbe-Ballaigues.
But he’s best known for his time at Manchester United, where he played 20 times – and was on the bench for Cristiano Ronaldo’s first debut.
Djemba-Djemba is now focusing on his own academy in Cameroon.
Talking about his decision to hang up the boots, Djemba-Djemba said: “I can say to you today, that I’m officially retiring from playing football.
“I have an academy in Cameroon and I am going to focus on trying to help educate the young players there on how to become a footballer, and how to build a successful career as a footballer.

Djemba-Djemba arrived at United with high hopes and then-manager Sir Alex Ferguson believed he had unearthed a real talent.
But things just didn’t work out for the midfielder – but he is delighted he got the chance to run out at Old Trafford.
He added: “I loved my team at Manchester United. But it was disappointing, it was difficult.
“Everybody who has a career has a chance, and I have to say I was lucky to play with all of the players that I got to play with, and I loved having the experience of playing with those players at United.
“It was hard leaving Manchester United, and it definitely affected my mental health.
“I left because I didn’t get much time playing, so I went to Aston Villa, but it was so difficult to leave Manchester because United was like my second family.
“They gave me everything. They gave me my career, so it was definitely difficult having to leave United.”
    WANTS TO HUG FERGIE
And of the legendary Fergie, Djemba-Djemba added:” I think I could have played a big role if I had more time, but that is life.
“But today, I’m happy. I’ll say thank-you to Alex Ferguson every single day, because he changed my life.
“I’d love to see Ferguson to give him a hug. I saw him in Denmark in 2011 when I was playing there, and gave him a big hug when I saw him.”

Man Utd XI last time Cristiano Ronaldo played at Old Trafford revealed ahead of Newcastle clash

CRISTIANO RONALDO is preparing for his first match for Manchester United at Old Trafford in over 12 years. The 36-year-old could make his second debut against Newcastle on Saturday following his arrival from Juventus last month.
This is the last Manchester United team that featured at Old Trafford which included Cristiano Ronaldo
Ronaldo is the only player yet to retire from the Red Devils team that last faced the Magpies during his first stint at the club.
The Euro 2016 winner’s last outing at the Theatre of Dreams came on May 16, 2009, against Arsenal.
United were crowned as Premier League champions following the goalless draw in what was to be Ronaldo’s last trophy for his beloved side.
He started in the Champions League final against Barcelona later that month, with the Spanish side winning 2-0.
But 12 years after departing United for Real Madrid, Ronaldo is back and gunning for titles as he looks to feature this weekend.
And his team-mates from that last game at Old Trafford may well be watching on in what is the biggest game in town.

Legendary Dutch goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar started between the sticks against the Gunners in the club’s penultimate top-flight game of the 2008-09 campaign.
John O’Shea – who scored in the Champions League semi-final first leg against Arsenal in 2009 – slotted in at right-back.
Patric Evra was deployed on the other side, with a centre-back pairing consisting of Nemanja Vidic and Jonny Evans.

Ronaldo featured on the right wing, with Sir Alex Ferguson opting to start Welsh icon Ryan Giggs down the left.
In the middle of the park were Darren Fletcher and Michael Carrick, with Paul Scholes and Anderson left on the bench.
Wayne Rooney and Carlos Tevez were tasked with leading the line against the North London outfit at the expense of Dimitar Berbatov.

Cristiano Ronaldo was called ‘ugly’ and involved in furious tunnel row last time he faced Newcastle for Man Utd

FOOTBALL is said to be the beautiful game, with Cristiano Ronaldo one of the finest players to ever grace the pitch. But former Newcastle defender Steven Taylor allegedly told CR7 he was ‘ugly’ when they clashed in 2009.

That came during Ronaldo’s last appearance against the Magpies.
With Ron, 36, preparing to face Newcastle again this weekend, the Portugal superstar will be hoping it doesn’t get as heated as last time.
Shortly before half-time of that meeting in March 2009, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner was fouled by Taylor, resulting in the then England youth international, now 35, picking up a yellow card.
The players then clashed as they made their way into the changing rooms during the break, with the Guardian stating Ronaldo called Taylor ‘a rubbish footballer’.
The ex-Ipswich man hit back, with it reported he told Ronaldo: “I know, but you are still ugly.”
Ronaldo’s then-team-mate Rio Ferdinand is said to have had to separate the pair along with referee Steve Bennett.
Newcastle’s stand-in boss at the time Chris Hughton defended Taylor following the altercation after his initial rash challenge.

He remarked: “I’ve had the opportunity to see it again and Steven was a bit headstrong in his endeavour to pull Ronaldo back.
“But he caught him on the shoulder and neck, that’s all it was.”
Taylor himself played down the incident with Ronaldo, as he said: “There was no bust-up with Ronaldo.

“I shook hands with him at the end of the game.”
Ronaldo goes into Saturday’s clash at Old Trafford looking to extend his unbeaten record against the Toon outfit.
The former Juventus ace has won ten out of his 11 games against Newcastle, while chipping in with six goals and five assists.

Wayne Rooney tips pal Cristiano Ronaldo to still be fab at 40 for Man Utd as Portuguese star prepares for second debut

WAYNE ROONEY has tipped his old pal Cristiano Ronaldo to still be fab at 40 for Manchester United. The Reds’ greatest ever goalscorer says the five-time Ballon D’Or winner is capable of emulating Ryan Giggs’ achievement in continuing to play Premier League football for United beyond his 40th birthday.

The Portuguese superstar is preparing to make his second debut for the Red Devils on SaturdayCredit: Getty
The Portuguese legend, who turns 37 in February, negotiated a three-year deadline-day deal, and is expected to make his eagerly anticipated second debut for United against Newcastle tomorrow – 12 years after his last appearance for the club.
Rooney says United fans will see a very different Ronaldo to the swashbuckling winger who blew defenders away with his explosive pace and trickery during his formative years at Old Trafford.
But he claims Ron’s eye for goal and poacher’s instinct will see him still terrorising defenders and flexing those famous abs when he hits 40.
Rooney, the scorer of a staggering 253 goals for United, said: “Cristiano’s coming back into the best league in the world, so he knows it is going to be challenging.
“And, of course, coming back to Manchester United, he’ll want to prove himself again at the club, and he sets the highest standards for himself.
“But if there’s one player in the world who can live up to that challenge, it’s Cristiano.

BETTING SPECIAL GET RONALDO TO SCORE AGAINST NEWCASTLE ANYTIME AT 30/1 OR FIRST AT 50/1
“I think he’s a completely different player to when he was last playing in the Premier League.
“The last time he played here he was more of a runner, a great dribbler, with pace and power, whereas now he’s a goalscorer.
“His game has adapted dramatically since then and I’m not at all surprised he is still going strong at 36.
“His ability is obviously one thing, but he’s also looked after himself massively, you can see the shape he’s in, he’s still in great condition.
“So it wouldn’t surprise me if he’s playing until he’s 40, like Giggsy did, and still scoring goals.”
Rooney’s United scoring record may not be in imminent danger as Ronaldo’s 118 goals in 292 games for United leaves him 135 goals off his pace.

Wayne Rooney, now manager at Derby, quit playing at the age of 35Credit: PA
However United’s master marksman says he admires his mate’s courage in putting himself back in the firing line in the most difficult position on the pitch.
Rooney retired at 35 to prove himself as a manager with Derby County.
But he had moved back into midfield long before then to preserve his legs in his twilight seasons, before heading to the Championship.
It’s a common route for even the greatest players, with midfielders also moving back into defence.
Yet Ronaldo has taken the opposite route and moved from wide areas, into the heart of the action to pit his wits against some of the best defenders in world football.
Rooney believes there are only two players in world football capable of cutting it at that level of intensity.

And he says United’s younger generation might have to run the odd extra mile to help out the old boy!
“The general rule is the older you get, the further back you play,” Rooney explained.
“With Cristiano it’s different and it’s the same with Lionel Messi. Those two players are probably the only two at this level who only play in one half of the pitch.
“It’s box-to-box, high energy defending which uses all your energy. But when you have the ball in one half of the pitch, it’s all about scoring goals.
“The rest of his teammates will have to work a little harder. But if it’s anything like the last time – towards the last two years of playing with him – the team allowed him to do that because Cristiano scores you goals and wins you games.”

That was after Young Boys refused to allocate tickets based on local laws which state NHS passes are not proof of vaccination.
However, The Athletic now claim a ‘late compromise’ has been found over the Covid-19 regulations.
United officials have ‘negotiated a reprieve’ that now allows fans to attend – as long as they take a test at an approved site next to the stadium.
And after a negative result, a Swiss certification will then be issued to those persons.
United will now have an 1,800 ticket allocation for the game on Tuesday.
Fans heading to Switzerland will be able to go to the testing centre from midday on Monday until 8pm.

And it will be open again on matchday from midday until 4pm.
The testing will cost individuals between £50 and £60 and will take approximately two hours.
United fans will need to present their ticket to enter the stadium along with a passport and valid Swiss Covid-19 certificate.
It comes a day after Uefa announced that away team fans would be able to travel to games next week.
But that would only be allowed if the home side’s local health and government rules permitted visitors.
