Cristiano Ronaldo urged to retire NOW before becoming ‘normal’ by Leboeuf as Man Utd legend vows to play for five years

CRISTIANO RONALDO should retire while still he’s still ‘at the top’, according to former Chelsea defender Frank Leboeuf. The Manchester United striker has had an underwhelming season since making an emotional return to the club in the summer.

CR7 has scored 15 goals in 29 games in all competitions, but just nine in 22 league games.
Nevertheless the 37-year-old has previously revealed his intentions to continue playing well into his 40’s.
But Leboeuf reckons that could be a step too far.
He told ESPN: “Do you know what? I think there is a time where you have to think, ‘What do I do with my life and my career’.
“And maybe it’s time for Cristiano Ronaldo at the end of his career to wonder and have a discussion with himself, and maybe some of his family, to know what he has to do for the rest of his career, if there is a future in his career.”
Leboeuf continued that he would prefer Ronaldo to call it a day while still on top of his game, rather than having to watch him with ‘pity’.

He added: “I don’t want to watch Ronaldo and have pity, because he’s been on the top for so many years.
“I don’t want him to be a normal player. He’s been an exceptional player for so long.
“I’d prefer him to give up his career at the top instead of maybe trying and play for two or three more years and not being the player that he used to be.”
Ronaldo has scored just one goal in all competitions since the turn of the year.
His strike against Brighton earlier this month ended a SIX game spell without a goal for the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.
But despite the underwhelming run of form, CR7 is still pleased by his stats for the season.
He’s responded to his critics by saying ‘facts are facts’, and insisting that on paper at least he’s enjoying a good campaign.

The Argentinian-born beauty also appeared to reveal she had a six-figure fortune saved up by telling Forbes Spain: “As far as money goes, you’ll have to excuse me but I prefer not to talk about how many millions there are in my bank account.”
She also cited Teresa de Calcutta, Martin Luther King and Marta Ortega, the daughter of the billionaire founder of Spanish retail giant Inditex whose flagship store is Zara, as her inspirations in life.
Marta, 37, will become president of the company on April 1.

She added in her latest interview which she gave at a hotel near the Cheshire home she shares with Cristiano, their daughter Alana, four, and his three children by surrogate mums: “She’s an inspiring woman, strong and someone with an enormous sense of aesthetics.”
Describing herself as someone who is “tremendously demanding” in all aspects of her life she added: ”I try to inculcate in the children the value of effort, persistence and work.”
And showing she is a woman who is not averse to criticism, which she claimed she was ready for before the Netflix docu-series about her rags-to-riches life premiered in 190 countries on her 28th birthday last month, she said: “I understand not everyone’s going to like it…but I don’t like everyone either.”
Georgina, who is heavily-pregnant with a boy and a girl, showed off her latest magazine front cover to her fans on Instagram.

It was the stunning brunette’s first interview since the release of ‘I Am Georgina’ which has been a top ten hit in many of the countries it is streaming in.
In December the former Bristol-based au pair revealed to another magazine she loves living in England and confessed: “When I was younger my dream was to live in London.”

Ronaldo though insists ‘facts are facts’, and on paper his 15 goals in 29 games for the Red Devils since his emotional transfer is a good return.
The 37-year-old hit out: “The facts are facts, the rest is not. It doesn’t matter at all. That’s why I’m very happy with my form.
“I’m still scoring goals, helping people, both in the national team and at Manchester United, and that’s why I want to continue like this.
“I started playing at the top level at 18, and I’ve been at the top of the game for 15-16 years.
“It’s my dedication, my passion, my ambition to be working hard all the time.

Ronaldo’s 587-minute spell without a goal included a missed penalty against Middlesbrough in the FA Cup defeat to the Championship side.
He also failed to score an OPEN goal in the 1-1 draw against Southampton.
But an expert finish against Brighton earlier this month proved the five-time Ballon d’Or winner hadn’t lost it just yet.
Ronaldo was then goalless on his return to former foes Atletico Madrid in the midweek Champions League clash after having a remarkable record against them with Real Madrid.
Although he was upended on multiple occasions as the Spaniards targeted him with a number of meaty challenges.
United took a 1-1 draw back to Manchester thanks to an Anthony Elanga strike, and Ronaldo will be hoping he can be the hero against his old enemies in the return leg at Old Trafford on March 15.

JADON SANCHO admits he’s had to work harder and believe in himself more to turn his Manchester United fortunes around. The £73million England winger is ‘delighted’ to finally match his Borussia Dortmund form midway through his first season at Old Trafford.

The summer buy, 21, is now a key man under interim boss Ralf Rangnick, with much-improved stats too.
And asked how he has become an electrifying regular, he told United’s website: “I guess that’s because I’ve been working a lot harder and believing in myself a lot more and just trying to make things happen.
“I’m just happy that my team-mates are believing in me and giving me support, especially when I go one-v-one.
“And hearing the fans when they cheer me on and are telling me to get at my opponent… I’m delighted with my performances.”
The 23-cap star claims United are powerful enough to win the Champions League this season.
But ahead of Saturday’s Premier League clash at home to second-bottom Watford, Sancho revealed his priority is just to hold onto a top-four spot.
Rangnick has ruled out catching the top three sides, Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea.
And questioned on his targets, Sancho said: “Definitely getting a Champions League spot for next season, 100 per cent we need that.”

Man Utd REMOVE Aeroflot signage from Old Trafford car park as huge sign painted over after club end £40m deal

MANCHESTER UNITED have painted over their Aeroflot signage after ending a £40million sponsorship deal with Russia’s national airline. The Red Devils removed huge Aeroflot markings from the Old Trafford car park as Russia’s invasion of Ukraine intensifies.
Old Trafford chiefs have taken away this Aeroflot marking in the club car park, having already ended the money-spinning sponsorship arrangement

United have dropped the company as official team carrier a year early after setting up the lucrative partnership in 2013.
Now the visual reminders of that deal have also been erased as sport joins in steps being taken by governments around the world against Russia.
Britain had earlier banned Aeroflot from UK airspace following Vladimir Putin’s assault on Ukraine.
A United spokesperson said: “In light of events in Ukraine, we have withdrawn Aeroflot’s sponsorship rights.
“We share the concerns of our fans around the world and extend our sympathies to those affected.”
The Red Devils first teamed up with the massive airline nine years ago before renewing the deal in 2017.
And United chiefs are already thought to be sounding out alternative partnerships, with Qatar Airways mentioned as one possible candidate.

Cristiano Ronaldo ‘begs Man Utd boss Ralf Rangnick to play two up top after feeling isolated in current tactical setup’

CRISTIANO RONALDO has reportedly asked Ralf Rangnick to play two up front due to him feeling ‘isolated’ in Manchester United’s current tactical set-up.Despite ending his goal drought last week against Brighton – to take his tally to 15 for the season – his frustration continues to grow.

The legend allegedly voiced his opinion to Ralf Rangnick in a meeting earlier this monthCredit: Reuters
He has now scored just once in his last eight games in Rangnick’s new 4-2-3-1 formation after his favoured 4-2-2-2 one failed to work at United.
The Portuguese legend, 37, only had one touch inside Atletico Madrid’s box in the 1-1 Champions League draw on Wednesday.
Now The Athletic are claiming that Ronaldo and fellow senior squad members met with the interim boss to discuss the side’s plight following the home draw with Southampton earlier this month.
And they state that the former Real Madrid and Juventus forward was the most vocal, even suggesting a change in system in order to end his barren run.
United did introduce a two-man attack for the 3-0 win over Tottenham back in October under ex-manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
And that led to both Edinson Cavani and Ronaldo both finding the net.

But Manchester City strolled to victory over them a few weeks later against that system.
Rangnick then partnered Ronaldo with Marcus Rashford in a 4-2-2-2 formation for his first game in charge which resulted in a 1-0 win over Crystal Palace but a loss to Wolves in January led to a 4-2-3-1 return.
They have stuck with that system since – but it is failing to get the best out of Ronaldo.
However, Rangnick’s options are currently limited with regards to selecting a partner for him.
Rashford is struggling for form while Cavani is battling a groin injury and Mason Greenwood remains banished amid allegations of rape and GBH.
