      And according to ESPN, should United fail to land Ferguson’s first choice managerial target Mauricio Pochettino, Ancelotti has been recommended by the Scotsman as a short-term option.
      The Italian, 62, is currently in charge of LaLiga table toppers Real and could have a fifth league title – in a fifth different country – under his belt come the summer.
      And a manager with a title-winning pedigree is just what United are looking for.
      Football director John Murtough wants to get the Red Devils back into title contention.
      He said: “We are now conducting a thorough process for the appointment of a permanent manager who will take charge this summer with the objective to get us back to challenging for domestic and European titles.”
      Whoever takes over the hotseat will be under considerable pressure to perform, something Ancelotti has proven time and time again.

      Spanish outlet SPORT have reported that Barca are looking at the competition Down Under as a chance to ‘strengthen the club’s current economic situation’.
      The report adds that Manchester United and PSG are waiting to see how their seasons pans out before making any decisions on their pre-season plans.
      There have been reports that Manchester United will play Liverpool in Bangkok on July 12.
      Any tour abroad would be the Red Devils’ first in three years due to the Covid pandemic.

      Fletcher said: ”Anthony has done brilliantly since he broke into the first team, and Hannibal has also been more involved in the squad.“Our U19s recently finished top of their group in the UEFA Youth League, and our U18s have reached the semi-finals of the FA Youth Cup.
      “We currently have 13 young players and Academy products on loan and playing regularly in other divisions or leagues.“Hopefully we’ll see players like Brandon Williams, Teden Mengi, Jimmy Garner, Ethan Laird, Tahith Chong, and Amad Diallo reap the benefits of that.
      “All of them are doing really well on loan and we’re excited to bring them back in preseason to see how they fare with our first team players.”
