I was Tommy Fury’s first coach and urged him to go on Love Island… but now he HAS to KO KSI to prove himself

TOMMY FURY has been warned by Ricky Hatton that he MUST knock out KSI in order to separate himself from the celebrity boxing world. British legend Hatton was Fury’s first professional coach before the unbeaten boxer put his career on hold to go on Love Island.

Ricky Hatton formerly trained Fury and says he must knock his rival out
Fury came of the hit reality show as a celeb superstar after meeting now-fiancee Molly-Mae Hague.
Fury’s new-found fame saw him land a blockbuster pay-per-view grudge match against YouTube-turned boxer Jake Paul.
And he kept his reputation as a boxer intact as he beat Paul, 26, by split-decision in Saudi Arabia.
Now Fury, 24, returns against Paul’s arch rival KSI on October 14 in Manchester, but Hatton believes another points win will not suffice.

He told SunSport: “These are rappers and YouTubers, they’re not professional boxers like you, so I think in this fight he needs to make a bit more of a statement.
“Tommy must still have visions of doing something in real boxing and if that’s the case I’d like to see him knock out KSI. Or certainly win extremely convincingly which I think he will.
“Tommy’s been getting a lot of stick but you can’t blame him for going down the route he’s gone, I advised him to go down that route and he’s capitalised fully on it.”
Hatton was the one who urged Fury to go onto the hit ITV series in order to make a name for himself.

And despite consecutive crossover bouts, the brother of heavyweight champion Tyson claimed he still wants to succeed as a traditional boxer.
But Hatton insisted in order for those world title aspirations to be taking seriously, he must score a KO against KSI.
He said: “At the end of the day, Tommy still talks of having ambitions of doing well in boxing.
“No disrespect to Jake Paul, he’s not the worst out there but he’s certainly not the best and KSI is a rapper!
“Tommy at first before Love Island was a professional boxer, I’m not knocking Tommy I was the one who said to Tommy that he should go on Love Island.
“I thought he’d make more money that way and I’m absolutely made up for him that he’s able to get the paydays that he has with Jake Paul and KSI.
“I told him that was the route to go down but if he keeps talking about being successful as a boxer than I do think he has to knock KSI out.
In retirement, Hatton has turned to coaching and is now a team captain for a new boxing concept called The Box Off which kicks off next Saturday.
The tournament will see four city-based teams compete in a knockout competition.
Each team has five fighters, one from each weight class, and will box over four rounds with winners progressing into the final.
Finalists also earn four points for their team, with championship winners gaining a further six meaning the team with he most are crowned victors.

How Laura Woods overcame sexist trolls and sad split to become TV’s hottest new star – and Prem footballers’ celeb crush

SHE’S the TV presenter famous footballers want to date – and women look up to.With killer looks, an enviable wardrobe and a new Love Island beau on her arm, Laura Woods might just be the sporting world’s answer to Maya Jama.

Gorgeous Laura has stolen the hearts of Premiership starsCredit: Instagram @laurawoodsy
This week we revealed Laura enjoyed a low-key date with Adam Collard, 27, in a County Durham pub – after splitting from long-term love England rugby player Alex Corbisiero.
The TNT Sports host – who won praise for her coverage of the Women’s World Cup for ITV –  is being tipped to become a household name with the potential to earn millions.
One expert reckons stylish Laura, 36, could bag major fashion deals and presenting jobs away from sport as her star rises.
Brand and culture expert Nick Ede, who runs a PR firm in London, told The Sun: “There are people out there who are stand out stars and Laura is definitely one of them.
    READ MORE CELEB STORIES
“Female sports presenters like Gabby Logan and Kirsty Gallacher will always be iconic but Laura is fresh blood and looks like the perfect person to take on the reins.
“She’s very intelligent and did great coverage of the Women’s World Cup and has shown off her knowledge of different sports.
“Yet she’s not too pigeon-holed in sport that other presenting roles won’t be offered to her and she could even branch out to fashion and produce her own collections.
“She’s a British celebrity but her job means she has an international profile and that will really help in her quest to become a big star.”

Nick says Laura dating Adam won’t do her profile any harmCredit: ITV Plc
Nick described Laura as the ‘perfect package’Credit: Instagram
Nick added that dating some like Adam Collard – known for his bad boy antics on Love Island and recent dalliance with Lottie Moss on Celebs Go Dating – will “only elevate her status”.
“It means Laura might find herself propelled onto the front of newspapers as much as the back, which is something new for her, but she can utilise it in a strong way to raise her profile,” he said.
“She’s clever and gorgeous and really is the perfect package. She could be on her way to earning millions just like Maya Jama.”
    Humble start

Laura, who played rugby as a kid, started her career as a humble runner at Sky Sports in 2009 before working her way up to a producer role.
She kicked off her presenting career with behind-the-scenes interviews on the darts coverage for Sky Sports’ YouTube channel.
Laura then got a job on the Saturday morning kids’ show Game Changers before joining the Soccer AM online presenting team.
By 2018 she was a regular pitch-side reporter on Super Sunday before leaving Sky Sports four years later.
She was also Talksport’s breakfast show host with Ally McCoist from 2020 until June this year.
She joined TNT Sports as the lead presenter for the UEFA Champions League and boxing coverage.
But it was Laura’s knowledgeable coverage of the recent FIFA Women’s World Cup that has really propelled her into the limelight.
    Hurt feelings

She had already won over leading sportsmen with her knowledge and good looks.
Ex Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek admitted she is his celebrity crush live on air, leaving her giggling.
And in April boxer Anthony Joshua told her she was his “dream date” after he flirted with her during an interview.
Laura has also bagged two major presenting awards and has won plaudits on social media for her stunning dress sense.
But her stratospheric rise to fame has not been easy.
When she first hit our screens Laura faced criticism that she’d only landed on TV because of her looks – something that hurt her feelings.
She said: “I accept that as presenters we are putting ourselves out there; we’re essentially targets. I’m learning to live with it because that’s part of our job. You’re never going to please everybody.
“It would hurt me a lot more if I took it all to heart, so I take it with a pinch of salt now as much as I can.”
Boxer Anthony Joshua told Laura she was his dream dateCredit: YOU TUBE
But Laura soon proved the haters wrong, proving herself a worthy adversary to the male presenters.
She said she “wouldn’t get in the door” without her knowledge adding: “If you don’t have a grasp of what’s going on, you’re never going to get to the top.”
Laura added: “We are all striving for equality but the reaction to a woman on screen or radio is still not equal. A producer once told me that women reporters have higher to fall from.
“It stuck with me. It’s not just what you say, it’s how you look, the way your voice sounds.
“I have had it all in tweets and stuff. ‘You are underweight’. ‘You are overweight’. ‘You have too much make-up’. ‘You look tired’.
“Men have to deal with scrutiny, too. I know. But their knowledge is never attacked in the same way.
“Women have transitioned into some sports such as cricket incredibly well. But what is it about football that people can’t accept something if it’s coming out of a woman’s mouth?”
As well as succeeding in a mainly male dominated world, Laura is famous for slapping down sexist Twitter trolls with witty one-liners.
On Instagram, when one man told her to get ‘back in the kitchen’ she swiftly replied: “Ohh Mick. Nothing screams ‘I have a small penis’ more than this old phrase.”
    Sad split
Laura in happier times with ex, Alex CorbisieroCredit: Instagram
She might be in the public eye but Laura is fiercely protective of her private life.
Laura dated her ex Alex for eight years and was by his side while he battled testicular cancer in 2019, which later spread to his lymph nodes.
The retired prop, who played for London Irish and Northampton Saints, now hosts The Scrum Down podcast.
Laura said the split was her decision, and she’s “never regretted it”.
“We’d lived in each other’s pockets and breaking up with him felt like coming up for air,” she explained.
She recently told The Sun: “I am single, but I’m also dating. That’s a part of my life that I have learned to keep private.
“I don’t want to put my whole life out there for everybody to see. I want to keep some things like ‘that person’ more sacred.”
Laura grew up in the north east before her family moved to Dagenham, London. Her mum Michelle coached rugby, and dad Steve is a former English cricket player.
A huge Arsenal fan, Laura says that while she’s living the dream in a job she loves, she wishes she could spend more time with her family.
She said last month: “I’d really love to get healthy. I want to be able to exercise more and take my dog for long walks.

“I’m just tired of feeling tired. I want to give my family and friends more of my attention. I really want to prioritise that part of my life more.”

Fury is currently 9-0 and most recently beat YouTuber-turned boxer Jake Paul, 26, in a celebrity super-fight.

“I’ve made my mind up. But I think I’ll have an easier way into it, because I don’t want to do serious acting. I just wanna do horror films.”
Brother Tyson, 34, said: “You’re a horror movie buff, ain’t you?”

And Fury responded: “I only watch them.”
The boxer lives in a stunning £3.5million mansion with Molly-Mae but he has now moved out of it while training to fight KSI.
Molly-Mae said: “Today is a little bit of a sad day in a way as Tommy has gone into his official camp today.
“He’s basically been in camp for the last few weeks but he’s gone into his camp where he has essentially moved out of the house for a long time actually.
“It’s probably going to be about two months that we’re not living together, that’s just the way training camp is.”

Despite finding himself having to change clubs, Dack has still enjoyed the summer of a lifetime.
The 29-year-old has been dating former Love Island star Olivia Attwood for a number of years after being introduced by mutual friends at a swanky London nightclub before she entered the villa, with the pair getting engaged in 2019.

He immediately achieved hero status at Ewood Park, scoring 18 goals on the way to promotion – also bagging the League One Player of the Year award.
His skills immediately translated to the Championship, in which he netted 15 times during the 2018-19 campaign.
He was off to a flyer during the first half of the following season, before being struck down in December 2019 by the first of two devastating ACL injuries.
Dack started just seven Championship games across the 2020-21 and 2021-22 campaigns as he battled back from various setbacks.
Last season he was largely fit and available, although wasn’t always in favour with boss Jon Dahl Tomasson – going on to leave having scored 57 goals in 173 appearances in all competitions.
In his farewell letter to Blackburn fans, Dack revealed that he still harbours hopes of playing in the top flight.

“Thank you again from me. I’m thoroughly grateful to everyone who’s been involved during my time at the club. It’s been an absolute pleasure and I can’t wait to see you again soon.”
Following his Ewood Park exit, Dack was quickly linked with fellow Championship side Sunderland.
And he sealed a deal with the Black Cats this week, signing a one-year deal to reunite with Mowbray.
Upon joining, he told the club’s media team: “It feels brilliant to be here. It’s clear to see the Club is on an upwards trajectory and it’s great to be on board.

“We were just kids. I didn’t do anything other than help a few people over a wall. It was just a bit of fun.”
When asked if his mate was involved, he said: “I’m not at liberty to say whether Dennis Wise was one of them.”
But speaking in 2017, Les appeared to backtrack on his comments, claiming the interview had been a joke taken out of context.
    ‘Crazy Gang’ years

In his teens, Dennis kicked off his football career as an apprentice at Southampton, but that was cut short when he fell out with manager Lawrie McMenemy.
In 1985, aged 18, he signed with Wimbledon FC, which had earned the nickname The Crazy Gang due to their aggressive style of play, macho behaviour on and off the pitch, and the expensive practical jokes they played on each other and their managers.
The rowdy bunch had a reputation for their lack of discipline, with pundits calling out their unprofessional approach to the game.
Wise became a prominent member of the team and admitted in 2014: “We did get up to mischief. We did some strange things and funny things and those things you can get away with in those times.
“We did things like letting fireworks off in hotels, put Vaseline on people’s car windows, let down tyres and burning Eric Young’s Brighton bag.
“He constantly brought it in after joining from Brighton and it got on our nerves after a while, so we burnt it… you would never see these type of things happening now.”

After a successful stint at Wimbledon, Wise’s breakthrough came in 1990 when he joined Premier League side Chelsea for a then-record fee of £1.6million.
Despite his wild reputation he was made captain, but cracks started to show during the 1994-1995 season, when he was sent off for swearing while playing Leeds United.
In March 1995 he was found guilty of smashing through the glass partition of a cab and punching its 65-year-old driver.
He was ordered to pay £1,234 in compensation, including £100 for damage to the driver’s glasses, and was stripped of the captaincy.
Although he was handed a three-month prison sentence, it was overturned on appeal.
That [holding] cell was the loneliest place on Earth. It was cold. It was desolate. I was tearful. I was scared. I am not ashamed to admit itDennis Wise
In 2017, Wise recalled: “That [holding] cell was the loneliest place on Earth. It was cold. It was desolate. I was tearful. I was scared. I am not ashamed to admit it.
“It dawns on you how lucky you are outside. I realised that I could lose everything through five minutes of madness.”
That wasn’t the end of his troubles; during the 1998-1999 season Wise missed 15 matches for bad behaviour. He received three red cards and was charged (but later cleared) for biting the arm of Real Mallorca star Elena Marcelino.
He also had spats with Thierry Henry, Ashley Cole, Olivier Dacourt and Patrick Vieira.
    ‘£3million punch’

After 11 years at Chelsea he was sold to Leicester City for £1.6m in 2001.
On July 18 the following year Wise had a bust-up with his teammate Callum Davidson where he punched him, breaking his nose and jaw.
After a two-week investigation Leicester made the decision to terminate his contract, costing Wise £3million.
While he later won an appeal to have the decision thrown out, the dismissal was eventually reinstated.
In a chat with The Sun at the time he said: “My sacking was a disgrace. Did you see West Ham players vote to sack John Hartson when he kicked team-mate Eyal Berkovic in the face and it was shown on national TV? No.”

Following a stint with Millwall Wise put his wild past behind him when he married wife Claire in 2004, after eight years together.
Fellow hardman and former Wimbledon and Chelsea teammate Vinnie Jones was his best man at the bash in Stoke Poges, Bucks.
Wise prefers to keep his personal life under wraps and little is known about Claire, however he regularly posts adorable snaps of them together, including some on holiday in luxury spots like Dubai.
The couple share three children together – Henry, Amber and George.
Reflecting on family life, Wise said: “It’s lovely having kids. I stay in a lot more now and enjoy time with them. They have calmed me down.”
The proud dad is said to be supportive of their daughter’s Love Island appearance, and has even signed her up to ex-Love Islander Gemma Owen’s agents.
Wise is no stranger to reality TV, having appeared on I’m A Celebrity in 2017 – where hosts Ant and Dec constantly joked about him being a “very small man”.
At the time he said the biggest “special occasions” he’d be missing by going on the show were “kids’ sporting fixtures and friends’ big birthdays”.

Henry, 23, has followed his father’s footsteps; he was a substitute for Watford in the FA Cup three years ago – almost two decades after celebrating alongside his dad at Wembley.
In recent years Wise has successfully invested in property – including a golf course – and runs a non-profit organisation that raises money for people with disabilities, which is believed to have raised over £1m.
