‘You RUIN careers’ – Steven Gerrard’s cousin Bobby Duncan attacks agent Saif Rubie over bitter Liverpool transfer exit

BOBBY DUNCAN – the cousin of Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard – has blasted former agent Saif Rubie following his bitter exit from Liverpool. Duncan showed great promise – once scoring 66 goals in a single youth season – but his career soon took a downward trajectory.

Rubie appeared on talkSPORT on MondayCredit: https://talksport.com/football/1187222/liverpool-bobby-duncan-saif-rubie-talksport-interview/
However, the former Liverpool prodigy has planted the fault for this at the feet of Rubie.
Following an interview Rubie did on Monday talking about Duncan, the 21-year-old called out his former agent on social media.
He said: “You and I both know the truth.
“I didn’t have a decision nor say as you took it upon yourself to jeopardise my career and to turn a local lad away from his boyhood club and leave me and my family to pick up all the pieces.

“Not once have I spoken upon this top(ic) in ‘four years’ as it’s been my main priority to get my career back on track. But, yet you think you have the right to mention my name on a live radio show.”
The young striker exited Liverpool in 2019 to join Fiorentina just one year after signing for £200,000 from Manchester City.
He then moved back to England with Derby for the next two years and now plays for Spanish third division side Real Balompedica Linense.
Duncan added: “The truth will be told by myself when the time is right.

“I should never have trusted my career in your hands. I have learnt my harsh lesson there. And I just pray you have learnt yours as it could ruin another young boys career.
“And lastly, just to clarify, there was no advising given as you point blank made your mind up, publicly. And by then the damage had been done.”
But Rubie insists he recommended the starlet to stay at Liverpool.
In his interview with talkSPORT, Rubie said: “I actually advised him to stay at Liverpool and you have to understand one thing, which is what I was trying to tell you guys.
“My job is to do the best for whoever is telling me to help them whether it be the player, a buying club or a selling club.
“In that particular case, you can choose to believe me or not, I thought him staying was the best outcome.
“It wasn’t meant to be and in the end it got a bit ugly with Liverpool which is unfortunate.”
    Read More on The Sun
At the time, Rubie had accused Liverpool of “mentally bullying” Duncan and “holding him against his will and damaging his mental health.”
Rubie and Duncan parted ways in 2020, with Duncan now represented by German group SportsTotal. More

Man Utd and Liverpool joined in Gavi transfer race by Bayern Munich with Barcelona star available for FREE in summer

MANCHESTER UNITED and Liverpool have been joined by Bayern Munich in the race to sign Barcelona midfielder Gavi, according to reports. The two Premier League giants have been heavily linked with a move for the 18-year-old prodigy.
Gavi is one of the highest-rated teenagers in European footballCredit: Alamy
It is a proposition too good to pass up as the Spaniard’s contract expires in the summer, so he will be available on a FREE at the end of the season.
And according to Bild, Bayern remain interested in trying to acquire his signature.
Barca president Joan Laporta recently confirmed an offer has been made to Gavi as they are keen to renew his contract.
But he is currently refusing to put pen to paper, something which is baffling the Catalan giants.

Speaking to L’Esportiu, Laporta said: “Gavi’s agent has the new contract proposal on the table for a long time but he has not accepted yet.
“We don’t understand… I don’t like the situation. I encourage them to accept it as soon as possible, because it also helps us plan.”
It has been reported that Gavi has a release clause of £41million, something Man Utd, Liverpool and Bayern could have chosen to trigger in the most recent window.
But with the player potentially available for nothing in 12 months time, the sensible option was to wait.

It is widely accepted that Barcelona see Gavi and fellow Spanish teenager Pedri as the future of their midfield.
But with Europe’s top clubs chasing him and Xavi’s men in a perilous financial situation, they may not have a choice but to let him leave the Nou Camp.
Gavi has made 51 appearances for Barcelona, scoring twice and assisting a further six goals.
The Spanish outfit have won three LaLiga games in a row after kicking off their campaign with a goalless draw at home to Rayo Vallecano.
They have already netted 11 times, thrashing Real Sociedad, Real Valladolid and Sevilla. More

Calciomercato claims Jurgen Klopp was desperate to sign a box-to-box player after being plagued by midfield injuries.
And the German boss identified Zakaria as his No1 choice to fill the gap left by Thiago Alcantara.
Liverpool made their move as the hours ticked down towards the end of the market.
However, they were unable to reach an agreement with either Zakaria or Juventus.

At the same time, Chelsea entered the bidding process after missing out on Ajax’s Edson Alvarez.
Zakaria jumped at the chance to move to Stamford Bridge on loan.
And Liverpool were then left negotiating with Juventus for playmaker Arthur.
Once regarded as a top talent, the 26-year-old Brazilian has suffered a sharp decline in recent years.

He managed just one goal in two years with the Bianconeri.
And a dip in form has seen Arthur play for Brazil just once since 2020.
Liverpool are paying Juventus almost £4m to loan the midfielder for the season.
And should Arthur come good, there is an option to sign him permanently for just over £32m next summer.
The former Barcelona star could now make his debut against Napoli in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Strict Jurgen Klopp opens up on Liverpool fines system and ruthlessly axing players who ‘don’t fit with my principles’

LIVERPOOL boss Jurgen Klopp has opened up on his fines system and ditching players who don’t fit within his principles. The Reds are taking on noisy neighbours Everton this afternoon, where Klopp’s men will be hoping to make it three wins in a row.

Following a sluggish start to the Premier League campaign, Liverpool have now registered a 9-0 win over Bournemouth and a narrow 2-1 thriller against Newcastle.
Ahead of the trip to Goodison Park for the Merseyside derby, Klopp was interviewed by BT Sport about his ‘non-negotiables’ as a manager.
The German, 55, highlighted how important discipline is when managing players.
He revealed: “I’m very disciplined. I’m very relaxed, but sometimes things happen – not really bad things – and I ask ‘do we have a fine for that?’
    READ MORE IN FOOTBALL
“And then they tell me ‘no, we don’t have a fine for that because it’s never happened before’.
“Discipline is very important to me, but the players are used to that – they grew up in the football environment and you can’t do team sport without discipline.
“It’s better not to sign really ‘difficult’ players.
“And if somebody develops into a ‘difficult’ player, you better bring him out of the building because they might help you in the short term but will always hurt you in the long term.

“So we never really have disciplinary issues.”
Klopp added: “There have been players who didn’t fit with my principles, and that’s when we parted ways.
“I’ve never signed a player like this, but from time to time there have been.
“But in 22 years as a manager it’s not even a handful, so I think that’s a pretty good number.”
Klopp has rarely fallen out with players at Liverpool.
However, defender Mamadou Sakho fell out-of-favour with the German during his early years at Anfield.
After serving a ban for doping in 2016, a charge which he was later cleared of, Sakho’s career at Liverpool started to decline and he was sent home pre-season trip to the USA after nearly missing the flight.
Sakho also found himself in trouble for skipping a rehabilitation session and arriving late to team meals.
The Frenchman was banished to the U23s and was never given another opportunity.
He was later sold to Crystal Palace in 2017 after a loan spell.
The ex-Borussia Dortmund and Mainz boss also detailed what he expects of new arrivals – and club record signing Darwin Nunez’s headbutt on Palace’s Joachim Andersen undoubtedly doesn’t fit within those expectations.
Klopp said: “The most important thing is that the players share my principles.
“We sign in to a very close relationship when a player signs a contract at our club.
“And that means we spend a lot of time together and have to get along with each other.
“There’s one talk before we sign a player where I put all my personality on the table – not the face everybody knows from the television but the real face; maybe it’s the same, maybe it differs in some aspects.
    Read More on The Sun
“I expect the same from a player because when you know as much as possible about each other you work much better together.
“That’s why these talks are maybe the most important – because in that moment we find an agreement on how we treat each other.” More

Top 10 most expensive summer transfers with Man Utd leading the way and just two non-Premier League deals

THE transfer window has closed once again and managers know exactly who they have at their disposal until it all starts over again in January. And it was a record-breaking summer with the Premier League splashing out a whopping £2BILLION on new signings.

Chelsea were the biggest spenders this summer with new owner Todd Boehly writing cheques totalling £260m to give Thomas Tuchel nine new players.
But who were the biggest signings of the summer 2022 transfer window?
    1. ANTONY – Ajax to Man Utd – £85.5m
The transfer saga that rumbled on and on and had more twists and turns than an Agatha Christie classic, Antony finally signed for United on deadline day for a staggering £85.5m.
Erik ten Hag was desperate to add the Brazilian winger to his attack and paid more than double what United had initially hoped to land him in the biggest transfer ever on deadline day, surpassing Gareth Bale’s record.

    2. WESLEY FOFANA – Leicester to Chelsea – £70m
Another deal that seemed to take an age to get over the line was Wesley Fofana’s switch to Chelsea.
The Leicester defender went on strike, refused to train and then took a cheeky swipe at Brendan Rodgers after completing his “dream” move to Stamford Bridge.
The £70m is the initial fee – as with the rest in this list – making him the third most-expensive defender ever after Harry Maguire and Virgil van Dijk but it could rise to £75m in achievable add-ons.

    3. AURELIEN TCHOUAMENI – Monaco to Real Madrid – £68m
Aurelien Tchouameni’s move from Monaco to Real Madrid seems like it was done a lifetime ago, such was the frantic nature of the closing stages of the window.
The European champions identified their target and got the France international in early to integrate him in the squad, where he is hitting the ground running alongside compatriot Eduardo Camavinga.

    4. DARWIN NUNEZ – Benfica to Liverpool – £64m
Liverpool were one of several clubs to splash the cash on a new No9 this summer and landed Darwin Nunez from Benfica despite interest from Manchester United.
He made an immediate impact with goals in the Community Shield and then at Fulham on the opening day before shockingly headbutting Joachim Andersen to earn a three-match suspension.
Jurgen Klopp will be desperate that is a one-off incident and the Uruguayan converts his hot head into a hot streak.

    5. CASEMIRO – Real Madrid to Man Utd – £60m
With a deal for Frenkie de Jong failing, Ten Hag knew he needed to bring in another midfielder and made a sudden swoop for the experienced Brazilian midfielder Casemiro.
The five-time Champions League winner could cost up to £70m and is being paid a staggering £350,000 per week for an initial four years – a huge investment for a 30-year-old who has never played in England.
Tchouameni’s arrival meant Casemiro was not even a guaranteed starter under Carlo Ancelotti anyway – and the fee essentially covered the cost of the new signing.

    6. ALEXANDER ISAK – Real Sociedad to Newcastle – £60m
Eddie Howe was determined to add a striker to his Toon squad – and he certainly did that by landing Alexander Isak from Real Sociedad.
The Sweden international smashed the club record with his £60m move and wasted no time getting to grips with the Premier League by blasting in 38 minutes into his debut at Liverpool.

    7. MATTHIJS DE LIGT – Juventus to Bayern Munich – £57m
Matthijs de Ligt was dubbed one of the next generation of elite centre-backs but it did not quite work out for him at Juventus as hoped.
Bayern Munich were not put off, though, and splashed out big money on the Dutch defender who will likely form a solid partnership with Dayot Upamecano for many years.

    8. MARC CUCURELLA – Brighton to Chelsea – £55m
Despite having £50m Ben Chilwell who plays in the same position, Chelsea decided to spend an initial £55m on Marc Cucurella from Brighton.
The Spanish left wing-back, who can also play in a back three, was also a target for Manchester City but they refused to pay what the Seagulls demanded.
Among the other new arrivals at Stamford Bridge this summer were Raheem Sterling (£47.5m), Kalidou Koulibaly (£35m) and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£12m) on deadline day.

    9. ERLING HAALAND – Borussia Dortmund to Man City – £51m
He may have cost £51m but Erling Haaland is already looking like an absolute bargain with nine goals – including two hat-tricks – in his first five Premier League games.
City, who Haaland’s dad also played for, won the race for the Norwegian’s signature ahead of some of Europe’s biggest teams after triggering his low release clause at Dortmund.

    10. RICHARLISON – Everton to Tottenham – £50m
Completing the top ten – eight of which are Premier League signings – is the £50m move Richarlison made from Goodison Park to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The deal could rise by a further £10m for the Brazil star who has more keepy-uppies than goals and assists combined so far under Antonio Conte after riling Nottingham Forest players and supporters with his cheeky showboating.

Why Liverpool’s Brazilian stars Firmino and Fabinho hold the key to beating Everton in Merseyside derby

JURGEN Klopp’s Liverpool make the short trip across Stanley Park in order to face rivals Everton in the Merseyside derby with a point to prove.Liverpool have got their season up and running with the 9-0 thrashing of Bournemouth and then a narrow win over Newcastle.
Frank Lampard takes on Jurgen Klopp this weekend
Liverpool have dominated their Merseyside rivals in the Premier League
There is already a sense of discontent at Everton, especially after the late escape from relegation last season.
It already feels as though they need a big result to kick start their season.
There is no doubt that a win over Liverpool in this match would give Everton the impetus that they need.
But given the confidence flowing through this Liverpool squad again, that will be much easier said than done.

Here are three reasons why Liverpool will continue their dominance over their neighbours, thanks to two Brazilian stars.
Everton’s lack of a fixed attack
Everton are still in desperate need of more firepower.
Just adding Neal Maupay is not enough with Dominic Calvert-Lewin still out injured and the sale of Richarlison in pre-season.
Everton is still a squad with a lack of recognised goal scorers
Everton’s front three are positioned in deeper areas of the pitch with no direct pressure being put on the defensive line or the centre backs
    Most read in Football
So far we have seen summer signing Dwight McNeil playing as part of a fluid front three alongside Anthony Gordon and Demerai Gray.
But while all have their strengths, none are true out-and-out goalscorers, despite Gordon’s habit of finding the back of the net.
It felt very much as though Everton needed to find a player to lead the line and to play more as a fixed striker with McNeil, Gordon and Gray able to play off them.
Maybe Maupay will be that man, if you can look past the amount of chances he misses.

Everton’s attackers are too deep and Liverpool will be content to let them have the ball. Everton will need to make sure that they have runners looking to stretch Liverpool and attack the space they leave behind the defensive line
So far this season Everton have looked bright and lively in the attacking phase with a lot of interplay and interchanging of roles and positions between the front three.
What they have missed is a player who will play right up against the opposition central defenders, either looking to receive with their back to goal or spin and attack the spaces between the defenders and behind the defensive line.
In short, they are missing the exact profile that Calvert-Lewin gives them.

This will play into the hands of the Liverpool defence in this match.
They will be relatively happy for the three mobile attacking players for Everton to have possession of the ball in deeper areas.
The defensive line for Liverpool will be able to squeeze up and make things tight if they want to but it is more likely that they will rely on the relentless pressing and work rate of their midfield in order to take away the spaces that the Everton attacking players will look to play in.
BET BOOST – Mohamed Salah & Luis Diaz to have 2 or more shots on target each 9/2 – CLAIM HERE

    The resurgence of Roberto Firmino
Earlier this season it seemed as though Roberto Firmino’s time at Liverpool was coming to an end.
Roberto Firmino drops back towards the midfield and effectively empties the space that the striker would normally occupy. Liverpool then deliberately attack these spaces through the aggressive diagonal movements of the two wide forwards
With the Senegalese international Sadio Mane gone, replaced in advance by Luis Diaz, we had seen Liverpool move in the market to sign the Uruguayan international forward Darwin Nunez from Benfica.
With Nunez having been sent off on his Premier League debut for a headbutt on the Crystal Palace defender Joachim Andersen, we have seen Firmino come back into the setup – and against Bournemouth last weekend he looked back to his best and he played well again against Newcastle.
As we have already discussed in this article, Everton struggle with the lack of a fixed striker.
When Liverpool play with Roberto Firmino as their ‘9’ he will constantly look to drop off of the front line to receive the ball in the midfield areas.
BET BOOST – Salah to score first 5/1 – CLAIM HERE

Unlike Everton, Liverpool have a ready-made solution to the movements of Firmino as their wide attackers immediately move into narrow positions to fill the space.
When Liverpool completed the signing last January of the Colombian international forward Diaz he was seen as a dynamic if unpredictable attacking force.
The former Porto forward, however, has quickly established himself as a key attacking player for Liverpool and now we are seeing him take up positions in more central areas than we had previously expected to see from Sadio Mane.
As Firmino comes deep to receive the ball he naturally finds little pockets of space. He then has the creative ability to find the runs of teammates who will look to go beyond the ball and break into the penalty area
With the Everton defence already being tested this season, they will have to find a new series of solutions to the movement and creative ability of Firmino as he drops off and encourages teammates to make attacking runs beyond the ball.
    Liverpool will control the midfield
The decision from Liverpool to sign the Brazilian international Fabinho from AS Monaco in 2018 signalled the start of a period of sustained success at the Merseyside club.
Fabinho, who has been described by Klopp’s assistant Pep Ljinders as the ‘lighthouse’ of the team, is a huge presence for his club both on and off the pitch.
At the start of the season, and especially against Crystal Palace, Fabinho looked out of form. In the match last weekend against Bournemouth though he looked very much back to his best – but again with the Bournemouth caveat.
Fabinho is the controller of the Liverpool midfield and with the front three of Everton, Gordon, McNeil and Gray, looking to play and interchange in deeper areas they will effectively be trying to play in his ‘zone’.
Fabinho also helps Liverpool when they are building from the back. The Brazilian midfielder is extremely press resistant and will receive the ball before turning into space and then driving forward

Fabinho is extremely good at positioning himself to break up counterattacks from the opposition.
He naturally sits at the base of the attacking shape for Liverpool and if the opposition regains possession he is quick to move to block off any potential passing lanes that the opposition may look to use in transition.
Bournemouth look to build their attack on the far side of the pitch they combine with a player moving into the channel to receive the ball in space. It is Fabinho who is first to break out to engage the ball carrier and regain possession
Everton will have to be aware of the positioning of Fabinho and of his ability to almost anticipate danger before moving to close down space.
When they do get opportunities to launch an attacking transition, they will have to play around or past the Brazilian to be effective.
    What does all this mean?
Let’s be realistic – you can’t see Everton getting much out of this one, can you?
Liverpool’s pride was hurt against United and they responded by getting Scott Parker sacked (though his post-match comments probably had as much to do with that as his team shipping nine).
Then they came back from a goal down to get a late, late winner against Newcastle – it feels like they are back at it.

    Read More on The Sun
Everton, if they can get through Fabinho and maybe target Trent they might get a couple of shots on goal?
