And it seems like the Merseysiders have found a way that could help them beat their intense competition to the midfielder’s signature as early as the January transfer window.
According to Bild, Dortmund are “hot” for Keita, 27, and Liverpool may use that to their advantage.
Jurgen Klopp’s side could thus attempt to thrash out a swap deal that would see the two midfielders moving to opposite directions.
Liverpool could be open to selling Keita in January as his contract runs out in June.

The Guinea international has struggled to cement himself in Klopp’s starting line-up mainly due to a raft of injury setbacks he has suffered ever since his arrival from RB Leipzig in 2018.
Landing Bellingham, though, will be no easy feat for Liverpool as Dortmund have proven to be fierce negotiators in the past.
SunSport reported that the England international could be available for just £83million in the summer.
But that is if the entire fee is paid up front by one of the 19-year-old’s suitors.

However, the ex-Birmingham star appears to prefer a move to Real over the Premier League.
Reports from Spain suggest Bellingham has shown that preference by rejecting a new contract with Dortmund after being instructed to do so by Los Blancos. More

SunSport recently revealed that the in-demand midfielder could leave Dortmund for just £83million next summer.
That is if the entire fee is paid up front by one of the England international’s suitors.
If he moves, Bellingham’s “gestures” suggest that his preference is a switch to Real.
The reigning European champions reportedly asked the 19-year-old to reject a new a contract with Dortmund.

The ex-Bimingham star acted accordingly and also turned down his Premier League suitors’ advances.
Real are looking to inject some youth into their midfield, which has been rock solid in the last few years with the star trio of Luka Modric, Toni Kroos and Casemiro, who left for United.
Modric, 37, and Kroos, 32, are both at an advanced age and their deals run out in June.
Los Blancos are now slowly paving the way for the likes of Eduardo Camavinga, Aurelien Tchouameni and Federico Valverde to take over in the future.

Bellingham, whose Dortmund deal runs out in 2025, is seen as another major addition with the Madrid giants keeping tabs on him since 2019.

Liverpool ‘will renew £85m transfer bid for Real Madrid star Fede Valverde after failing to land midfielder in summer’

LIVERPOOL have not given up hope of signing Real Madrid ace Fede Valverde, according to reports. The Reds had an £85million deal lined up for the Uruguay midfielder this summer and plan to bid again, according to AS.
Real Madrid’s Fede Valverde has caught the eye of a number of top clubs
The 24-year-old is the name on everyone’s lips again in LaLiga after scoring the winner in Sunday’s 2-1 derby win over Atletico Madrid.
It was his fifth goal already this season and Real boss Carlo Ancelotti has joked he should quit coaching if he cannot get ten goals out of him this term.
Last week Fede ran from his own half to score a sensational solo goal in a 4-1 victory against Mallorca.
That slaloming run was finished with a lovely left-foot shot from a player who has been operating brilliantly on the right-hand side of midfield for the Spanish giants.

Fede is also comfortable playing in a holding midfield role or at full-back and Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is said to be a big fan of his versatility.
The Reds are thought to have tested Real’s resolve with a huge bid late in the summer window.
But Los Blancos chiefs found the 11th-hour move for one of their crown jewels “offensive”, according to AS.
It would have been Real’s second biggest ever sale – after Cristiano Ronaldo’s £88m move to Juventus in 2018 – so their refusal to do business underlines how highly they rate the star.

Fede is likely to be a key weapon for a dark-horse Uruguayan side at this winter’s World Cup in Qatar.
That will see his high stock rise even further and make it more difficult for Liverpool to bring him in to reinforce their ageing and increasingly injury-prone midfield. More

They have reacted by adding Arthur Melo on loan from Juventus to the squad on deadline day.
But younger legs could still be needed with the likes of Thiago, Jordan Henderson and James Milner all north of 30-years-old.

And Jurgen Klopp admitted before the end of the transfer window that they would like to sign a midfielder if the right player was available.
They subsequently acquired Juventus man Arthur Melo on loan to add to Thiago Alcantara, Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita.
But a more long-term option is still something Liverpool are keen to sort out.
They have been heavily linked with a move for Borussia Dortmund and England international Jude Bellingham.

But the Bundesliga side are set to demand £100million for the 19-year-old, meaning he may be difficult to bring to Anfield.
As a result, UOL understand Nunes is being linked as a potential alternative next summer.
The 24-year-old impressed during his time at Sporting Lisbon – helping them win their first league title in 19 years in 2021.
Speaking about him back in February, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola said: “I would say that Matheus Nunes is one of the best players in the world today.”

The German champions last failed to score in the league back in February 2020.
And although this was their first defeat of the season they have now gone four Bundesliga games without victory.
Pressure is mounting on £30million star summer recruit Mane amid claims he is “isolated” and struggling to adapt to a more central role.
The Senegal hero still has five goals from 11 matches overall.

But he was taken off 12 minutes from time as Bayern chased the game at Augsburg.
Mergim Berisha had given the mid-table hosts their first home triumph of the campaign just before the hour.
Bayern them made three changes, including replacing Mane with Cameroon ace Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting.
But the shake-up failed to prevent more disappointment for Julian Nagelsmann’s men.

Former Liverpool and Bayern midfielder Dietmar Hamann fears Mane is just not suited to Nagelsmann’s tactics.
He said earlier in the week: “He is not integrated.
“I saw him at Liverpool, where he played through the middle. That is not his position. Now he’s taking that position at FC Bayern as well.
“He is at his best when he comes from the outside. He doesn’t look happy to me.”
Ex-Germany star Hamann added: “Other players like Leroy Sane, Jamal Musiala or, in defence, Lucas Hernandez, who is injured at the moment, are putting in outstanding performances.
“Nobody is talking about Mane at the moment. He seems isolated and hardly takes part in the game. FC Bayern has to get a grip on that.”
Nagelsmann, though, insists Mane WILL adjust to Bayern’s system.
He said: “He put in so much for Liverpool. He’s a new signing.
