Konate completed the full 90 minutes on the South Coast, but a scan has since revealed the full extent of the damage.
And the Daily Mail claim that the France international could now be ruled out for around two to three weeks.
As a result, he’s expected to sit out the Premier League games against Wolves, Everton and the trip to Newcastle on 18 February.
And Konate could also be forced to miss the first leg of their last-16 Champions League tie with Real Madrid four days later.

It continues what’s been a frustrating second year at Anfield for Konate after he was forced to sit out the first six weeks of the season with a knee injury.
And he’s made just 10 appearances in all competitions.
It’s another massive setback for Jurgen Klopp, who’s already without Virgil van Dijk after he sustained a knee problem earlier this month and is in a race against time to be fit to face the holders.
Klopp therefore has just two centre-backs available in Joel Matip and Joe Gomez.

Jurgen Klopp says another manager would have been SACKED by now as Liverpool boss admits past success has saved him

JURGEN KLOPP admits his six Liverpool trophies have saved him from the sack. The under-fire Kop boss says he is still an elite manager but before today’s FA Cup clash at Brighton, he:
Jurgen Klopp has conceded his previous achievements are helping him stay in a jobCredit: Getty

Warned his team may never again reach previous heights.
    Apologised for their woeful form.
Blamed the demise on the Reds’ appalling injury list.

The German said: “I didn’t become a bad manager overnight. I was never as good as people probably said or not as bad as some people might think.”
Klopp’s former European and Premier League champs have lost eight games this season — double the amount of last term — and are ninth, 21 points behind leaders Arsenal.
Liverpool won the domestic cup double last season, were pipped to the title by Manchester City and the Champions League by Real Madrid in the final.

Klopp added: “Imagine if you were here talking to another coach of Liverpool because last season we’d won all four trophies and I said, ‘See you later, holiday!’
“Imagine if you see a different face and he has to explain these things and he tells you how it is. Nobody would listen!
“They’d say last season was great and this year is not great — so go!
“You have to have wide shoulders and really just take it.

“It’s tough, I’m sorry. But we will go for it with all we have to get out of it and play in a way people can’t wait to go to the stadium again.
“So far, we’ve not given the fans much this season but we are still in two cup competitions and won’t give up in the league.”
Klopp’s Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup, Carabao Cup, Uefa Super Cup and Fifa Club World Cup has secured the backing of the club’s American owners.
And with Arsenal, Manchester United and Newcastle on the up, the 55-year-old said: “What happened in the league with City and us in the last few years was exceptional.
“Arsenal are sensational. Mikel Arteta is doing an outstanding job. United are in a really good moment, whatever happens there they will not stop investing and improving.
“If City do not win the league, Pep will not accept this kind of situation for a couple of years. They will go again. Tottenham, Newcastle and Brighton are doing really well.”
James Milner, Fabio Carvalho and Nat Phillips are doubts today with Virgil van Dijk and Roberto Firmino injured. And with Luis Diaz, Arthur and Diogo Jota also out long term.
Klopp said: “Injuries to decisive players have made it a bad season so far and you cannot just replace them.” More

Under current manager Roberto De Zerbi – who is desperate to keep the ace – Caicedo’s development has continued at a rapid pace, with Brighton continuing to march up the table.
We reported this week how Arsenal, who have already snatched one player from the Seagulls this month, had joined the scramble for his signature.
Chelsea were reported to have had a £55million offer rejected last week as Brighton hold out for as much at £100m.
And the midfielder has also hired a new agent as speculation mounts over his future.

Now transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has offered a fresh update on the situation.
He tweeted: “Three clubs are exploring Caicedo deal after new agents’ statement: Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool are informed on the situation, as revealed on Monday.
“Brighton, not intentioned to sell unless they receive really huge proposal.”
Winger Leandro Trossard joined Arsenal in a £27million deal from Brighton and made his debut during the 3-2 win over Manchester United on Sunday.

The Seagulls have become serial recruiters of top talent which is then flipped for a huge profit margin, as evidenced by sales such as Marc Cucurella, Ben White and most recently Trossard.
Trossard arrived at the Amex Stadium in 2019 for just £18m, while the respective fees they got for Cucurella and White saw Brighton receive more money than what it cost them to build their stadium.
Caicedo is set to be the next name on that list of profitable acquisitions by the club after he cost them just £5m Independiente del Valle two years ago.
And his price tag may swell amid Liverpool’s interest.
The Reds have endured a miserable campaign so far and Jurgen Klopp is believed to be looking to bolster his ageing midfield ahead of the next campaign. More

Haidara, 24, who signed for Leipzig from RB Salzburg in 2019, has contributed 12 goals and eight assists in 133 appearances for the German side.
According to The Independent, Brighton have seen an offer for the midfielder rejected by the Bundesliga outfit.
It is understood that Leipzig do not want to sell in January as they believe it would be a struggle to find a replacement.
Leipzig are currently just four points off Bayern Munich at the top of the table.

But Haidara’s failure to secure a move in January may only postpone his exit as he has a clause in his contract which will allow him to leave in the summer.
Man Utd and Newcastle have previously been interested in him.
But if Brighton can secure his services, that may free up Seagulls man Caicedo to depart the club.
The Ecuadorian, 21, has been linked with a move to both Arsenal and Chelsea.

He could yet join former team-mate Leandro Trossard at the Emirates, or Marc Cucurella at Stamford Bridge.
But Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi is determined to keep his midfield maestro.
Speaking earlier this month, he said: “He is very important for us, it would be difficult to change with another player now.
“I hope he finishes the season with us, but you know in the transfer market it is always difficult to give you one answer.
“When there are some bigger teams and they want one of our players, it is good news for us.

Despite his lack of minutes, the former Arsenal star’s talents remain desired around the Premier League provided he can stay fit.
