Liverpool are keen to add to their midfield options this summer and Bellingham, 19, would have been an ideal option.
However, the club will have to move on to new targets.
Klopp, 55, was asked about the interest in the Borussia Dortmund star, and at first refused to discuss the speculation.
He said: “If I don’t speak about players we sign and don’t sign, why would I now speak about this kind of speculation? Really nothing to say about it.

“It’s not about Jude Bellingham now, my answer now. Definitely not.”
The German was pressed on the matter and he gave in to elaborate on the club’s position.
He compared the potential transfer to a child asking for a Ferrari for Christmas, something that would not be “a good idea”.
He added: “I never understood why we constantly talk about things we theoretically cannot have.

“We cannot have six players in the summer, where everyone is £100 million, for example. That’s kind of clear.
“You have to realise what you can do and then work with that.
“We are not children, if you ask a five-year-old what they want for Christmas and they tell you I want to have ‘a Ferrari’, you wouldn’t say that’s a good idea.
“It’s too expensive and, anyway, you cannot drive it.
“That’s how it is. If this kid is then unhappy his whole life because he cannot get a Ferrari it would be a really sad life.
“It’s just what can you do, and you work with that, nothing else to say about it.
“It’s always how I worked. What we need and want, we try absolutely everything to get it.
“But there are moments you have to accept that this or that is not possible for us, and you step aside and do different stuff.”
Dortmund are believed to have set an asking price of £130million for Bellingham.

Liverpool could now turn to cheaper targets such as Mason Mount, Youri Tielemans, who is available on a free transfer, and Bayern Munich star Gravenberch.
That is a bonus for the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea, both of whom hold a long-term interest in Bellingham. More

But reports this week claim they have pulled out of the race for the England international, 19.

The Dutch youngster only joined Bayern from Ajax last summer for £16million.
But he has started just four games in all competitions this season and could already be looking elsewhere for game time.
Liverpool are said to have sought discussions with Gravenberch’s management ahead of a move for the Amsterdam-born star.
Speaking recently to Ajax Showtime about his first season with the German champions, he said: “Ideally, I would like to be successful at Bayern.
“But if that doesn’t work out and I don’t get a chance, then I might have to look around.
“At the moment I’m not thinking about it and I hope that I can change my situation at Bayern by training and playing well.”
He went on to add: “For me, this season is just the first season where I’ve been struggling and not being able to play much. As a player, you also get better through such experiences.
“I’m still very young and I’m glad I’m experiencing something like this now and not later in my career.”
Alongside his promising club career, Gravenberch has already been capped 11 times by the Netherlands.
However, he did not make Louis van Gaal’s squad for the 2022 World Cup.

The Daily Express predicts that manager Jurgen Klopp may have to wield the axe on several players to raise funds for reinforcement, especially if the Merseysiders miss out on Champions League cash.
Liverpool may start by letting go of players whose contracts run out in June.
Adrian, Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Roberto Firmino could all leave.
Arthur is highly likely to return to Juventus after an unsuccessful loan stint at Anfield.

Caoimhen Kelleher, Sepp van den Berg, Rhys Williams and Nat Phillips could all find themselves on the chopping block as well after failing to earn first-team opportunities.
Joel Matip has struggled for fitness in the last 18 months and may have to make way if Klopp is able to get an upgrade at centre-back.
The same goes for Kostas Tsimikas, even though the left-back has shone bright while deputising for Andy Robertson.
James Milner and Joe Gomez help Liverpool meet the criteria for homegrown players in their Premier League and European squads.

Super-sub Roberto Firmino levelled the scores in the 87th minute to send Kopites in attendance and around the world into ecstasy.
But former Arsenal star Oxlade-Chamberlain kept his emotions to himself as the fans and subs around him went crazy.
Footage of the England international not celebrating was captured as the cameras showed an irate Mikel Arteta reacting to his side dropping two points.
The Ox stayed in his seat and looked on at Arteta as the Spaniard lamented the equaliser.

Oxlade-Chamberlain is seemingly set to leave Liverpool in the summer as his contract expires at the end of the season.
And the Reds have reportedly decided not to extend the midfielder’s Anfield stay.
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano tweeted last month: “No changes on Oxlade-Chamberlain and Liverpool, expected to part ways in June.

Oxlade-Chamberlain joined Liverpool from Arsenal in the summer of 2017 for a fee in the region of £35m.
The former Southampton starlet has made 146 appearances for Jurgen Klopp’s troops, contributing 18 goals and 15 assists.
Oxlade-Chamberlain has been blighted by injury during his time at Anfield, which Kop hero Dietmar Hamann reckons is over.
Speaking after the Reds’ 3-1 win over Aston Villa on Boxing Day, the German said: “Oxlade-Chamberlain did okay today but I think his time is up as well.”
Liverpool will be back in action on Monday, travelling to Elland Road to take on Leeds United. More

Man Utd told exactly how much it’ll cost to secure Jude Bellingham transfer with Liverpool out of race for Dortmund star

MANCHESTER UNITED and Manchester City will have to pay as much as £130million to land Jude Bellingham.Liverpool have pulled out of the race to sign Borussia Dortmund’s 19-year-old superstar, but Real Madrid remain in the hunt.

City are interested and United could also move if their takeover is completed in time for the summer window.
Dortmund have not given up hope of keeping Bellingham for another season.
But if he does decide to go, the Germans believe the £138m deal they did with Barcelona for Ousmane Dembele in 2017 is a yardstick for how much they should get for the young Englishman.
French forward Dembele was just 20 — a few months older than Bellingham is now — when he moved to the Nou Camp for the enormous fee.

Any price in that region would smash the current British record, Chelsea’s £106m splurge on Enzo Fernandez in January.
The numbers involved in the deal have forced Liverpool to back away, particularly as they are almost certain to miss out on the Champions League riches next term.
What money they do have needs to be spent on several areas rather than blowing it all on one signing.
City’s transfer funds will be focused on strengthening the midfield this summer, with Ilkay Gundogan expected to join Barcelona on a free transfer.

There is also a question mark over Bernardo Silva while talisman Kevin De Bruyne turns 32 this summer.
City have shown in the past they are not afraid to break transfer records — splashing out what was then a British high of £100m on Jack Grealish in the summer of 2021.
Their hopes of signing Bellingham have been boosted by Liverpool walking away but they are wary of Madrid.
City do have a good working relationship with Dortmund, though, having signed Erling Haaland and Manuel Akanji from them last summer. More

Roberto Firmino ‘could be offered shock transfer lifeline by Real Madrid’ after Liverpool exit

REAL MADRID are considering a shock move for Roberto Firmino at the end of the season, according to reports. The Brazilian joined Liverpool in 2015 from German side Hoffenheim and has made 359 appearances for the club but will leave in the summer after turning down a new contract.

Interest in Firmino is expected to be high given the attacking options he can offer and that he’s available on a free transfer.
Spanish publication El Nacional have reported that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is aware of the situation around Firmino and may look to convince the 31-year-old to move to the Spanish capital.
Star striker Karim Benzema’s contract is up in the summer although reports suggest an extension has been verbally agreed.
The report adds that there are not many strikers that Madrid can sign because the club don’t trust them or they are too expensive.

El Nacional claim that Perez has ‘learnt a lesson’ after Madrid spent £52million on Luka Jovic who is now at Fiorentina after struggling at the Bernabeu.
Madrid are also looking to spend big this summer on Borussia Dortmund’s midfield star Jude Bellingham with the Bundesliga outfit set to ask for in excess of £100m for the England international.
Since joining Liverpool in 2009 Firmino has scored 109 goals winning everything under manager Jurgen Klopp.
The Brazilian formed part of a lethal front three with now Bayern Munich forward Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.

It is believed Dortmund are open to offers for the midfielder as this summer will be their last opportunity to cash in big.

This would allow Bellingham to leave the club to potential buyers while also guaranteeing the Bundesliga side a large transfer fee. More

Where the nine stars Liverpool sold before their title-winning season are now including Sturridge and Mignolet

LIVERPOOL let go of nine players the summer before their first Premier League triumph. The Reds have undoubtedly seen a golden period of success under Jurgen Klopp, but the German boss had to cut ties with some big names in order to win big.
Daniel Sturridge was prolific for Liverpool during his time with the club
Daniel Sturridge and Simon Mignolet were among those who found themselves out of the door at Anfield and looking for new opportunities.
And agonisingly for them, they then had to witness their former team finally win the 2019-20 league title just months later.
Here SunSport details where the nine players who narrowly missed out on being part of that history making squad ended up…
    DANIEL STURRIDGE
Sturridge spent six years on the books at Liverpool before being released in July 2019.

He is yet to announce his official retirement from football, but doesn’t currently have a club and can often be seen on TV offering his thoughts as a pundit.
Sturridge finished second behind his strike partner Luis Suarez in the race for the 2013/14 Premier League golden boot
