Man Utd and Liverpool join Arsenal in Marc Guehi transfer battle but price-tag could scupper summer move

MANCHESTER UNITED and Liverpool have reportedly joined Arsenal in the race to sign Marc Guehi. The Crystal Palace centre-back is hot property as we hurtle towards the summer transfer window.
Marc Guehi joined Crystal Palace from Chelsea for around £18million in 2021
According to the Mail Online both Man Utd and Liverpool are keen on joining the Gunners in their pursuit of the Englishman.
It is reported that Palace value the 22-year-old at £50million, which could put him out of reach for Liverpool who will focus their budget on improving their midfield.
Guehi is also said to be attracting interest from Arsenal’s North London neighbours Tottenham.
He has featured in all but one of Crystal Palace’s league games this season and has helped them keep nine clean sheets in the process.

The young defender has already been capped three times for the England senior team and will be hoping to be part of Gareth Southgate’s upcoming squad announcement on Thursday.
It has been reported that Palace will not decide the future of any of their players before they have a new manager in place, so those interested in the former Chelsea man will have to wait.
It is unknown who will be in charge at Selhurst Park for the start of next season after Patrick Vieira was replaced by Roy Hodgson on a temporary basis.
Guehi’s current contract isn’t due to expire until 2026 so the Eagles will be in no rush to make a decision.

Manchester United could be interested in bringing in Guehi, who joined Palace for around £18m from Cheslea in 2021, in the hopes of signing a long-term partner for Lisandro Martinez.
The Red Devils currently have both Harry Maguire and Raphael Varane, who are over the age of 30.
Any potential takeover at Old Trafford could also make for an even bigger transfer kitty. More

“But if it happens, it would not be a Jurgen Klopp signing because we are both German or both know each other. That would have nothing to do with it. I can say that.
“Jorg Schmadtke I have known a long, long time. He knows me probably not as long as I know him, because he was a much better player. But we started in a similar moment our second career, I became a coach at Mainz and he became sporting director at Aachen.
“Two teams of similar status, so from there we know each other a little bit. I know he is a good guy and a smart guy. Very good at what he did in Germany, definitely, very successful.
“His character is good, his personality is good, his humour is good. I know that from a few moments next to the pitch.
“We could talk about (former Borussia Dortmund Sporting Director) Michael Zorc. Similar age group, similar situation, just a bit longer in retirement I know him much better. There are some good sporting directors in Germany you wouldn’t believe!”
Liverpool are set to host Aston Villa at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.

Keita arrived as a much heralded £48million signing from RB Leipzig in 2018.
He struggled to ever hit the heights at Anfield and has endured an injury-plagued final campaign at Liverpool – playing just 13 times in all competitions.
Despite his lack of action, the 28-year-old has attracted interest from former club RB Leipzig, as well as Borussia Dortmund.
Oxlade-Chamberlain, meanwhile, has become something of a forgotten man at Liverpool.
The former Arsenal ace has suffered terrible bad luck with injuries down the years – managing just 146 Reds appearances in six years.

But 13 years on and now Amoo will be searching for a new club after becoming one of four players released by Crewe after their 13th-placed finish in League 2.
He only made seven appearances for the Railwaymen after joining earlier this season.
But at the beginning of his career the attacking midfielder was playing in Europe for one of the world’s biggest clubs.
He started the opening game of Hodgson’s ill-fated Liverpool tenure – a Europa League third-round qualifying game against Macedonian side Rabotnicki Skopje.

The Merseyside club had finished 7th in the Premier League the season before, requiring them to dive into Europe before the end of July.
With the 2010 World Cup in South Africa finishing just 18 days earlier, Hodgson opted to leave out England stars like Steven Gerrard, Jamie Carragher, Glen Johnson and new signing Joe Cole.
Instead second-string stars like Amoo got a run out and brought home a comfortable win thanks to a David Ngog brace.
It would end up being the sole first-team appearance Amoo would make for Liverpool.

Four clubs who could hand Sadio Mane Premier League return transfer as he ‘has NO future under Tuchel at Bayern’

SADIO MANE reportedly has no future at Bayern Munich. And four Premier League clubs could be willing to bring him back to England this summer.
Sadio Mane is not wanted by Bayern Munich… but he could have four options in EnglandCredit: Getty
Mane joined Bayern from Liverpool last summer for £27million.
But he’s failed to recapture his old form, scoring just seven times in the league after suffering an injury setback that saw him miss the World Cup.
Mane’s frustration then blew over in the changing room when he allegedly struck teammate Leroy Sane following Bayern’s Champions League defeat to Man City.
And the Mail now claims that Thomas Tuchel wants to get rid of Mane.
    READ MORE IN FOOTBALL
The former Chelsea boss wants a proper No9 to lead his line next term.
But there’s sure to already a queue of English clubs lining up to bring Mane back to the Prem.
Ironically, Tuchel’s old side Chelsea are thought to be leading the race after a dismal debut season under Todd Boehly.
The Blues are looking to boost their attacking options after netting just 36 league goals.

And Mane would certainly give Mauricio Pochettino the Premier League experience he’s craving from new signings.
Another option for Mane is Arsenal, who appear to have cruelly missed out on their first title in almost 20 years.
Despite leading the race for 93 per cent of the season, the Gunners have seen Man City become champions elect with just two games remaining.
Mikel Arteta has already witnessed the impact made by experienced duo Jorginho and Leandro Trossard.
And Mane would help to further fill the leadership void while giving Arsenal’s talented youngsters another superstar to look up to.
Elsewhere, Newcastle are unlikely to turn their nose up at a player of Mane’s quality.
Eddie Howe looks set to secure a brilliant top four finish, and Mane would be ideal to slot in on either wing, providing much-needed depth and quality.
Finally, Liverpool could yet attempt to re-sign their former fan favourite.
Mane was one of Jurgen Klopp’s most important players as he stormed to Premier League and Champions League glory.
Liverpool never wanted to sell him last summer, but had their hand forced when Mane pushed for the exit himself.
    Read More on The Sun
The Reds have already moved to replace him with Darwin Nunez, while the likes of Mo Salah and Luis Diaz are continuing to do the business.
But if the price is right, and Mane is keen, it could end up being the most likely outcome this summer. More

Pochettino needs ‘a miracle’ to keep Mason Mount at Chelsea with relations at all-time low as Arsenal eye £60m transfer

MAURICIO POCHETTINO faces a massive uphill battle to keep Mason Mount at Chelsea. The incoming boss has targeted the £60million-rated midfielder’s contract stand-off as one of his main priorities when he takes over at the end of this season.

But SunSport understands Pochettino’s arrival is coming too late to save negotiations and one of Chelsea’s most popular players looks set to leave his boyhood club after 18 years.
Mount, 24, has barely a year left on his deal and talks are at loggerheads after ten months.
SunSport can reveal Mount was offered a one-year extension by Chelsea in February but this was flatly rejected and seen as a ploy simply to raise his transfer fee.
Relations between the player’s representatives and the club are at an all-time low and Pochettino needs a “miracle” to turn it round.

A Blues source said: “It feels like it is too late now for Mason.
“Pochettino is good but he can’t work miracles.
“If he had been brought in when Chelsea sacked Thomas Tuchel in September then maybe it would be a different story.
“But in ten months there hasn’t been any resolution and other clubs want him. Good luck to Poch and Mason but we’re not hopeful.”

Mount is injured but eyeing a return for the final two games this season — at Manchester United then home to Newcastle on May 28.
That could well be the end of the England star’s Blues journey, which started when he was six.
Premier League rivals Liverpool and Arsenal have been strongly linked with interest in Mount.
And Chelsea will sell if he does not sign a new deal as they do not want him leaving for free at the end of next season.

Poch has agreed to take over from caretaker boss Frank Lampard but will wait until next month to officially take the reins.
Former Tottenham chief Pochettino had an interview when Tuchel was axed in September but chairman Todd Boehly opted for Graham Potter.
Potter was dismissed in April and Lampard came in.
Poch is seen as one of the best in the business but wants a big say in matters and will have to oversee a mass clearout to balance the books. More

Liverpool were also involved in the transfer chase but pulled out due to the midfielder’s astronomical valuation, which has been set at a reported €150million (£131m).
City have also showed interest but the England international doesn’t appear keen on a move to the Etihad.
That is according to German journalist Patrick Berger, who claims the 19-year-old and his family view the reigning Premier League champions as a “plastic” club.
Bellingham holds the same view regarding other Gulf-backed clubs, such as Paris Saint-Germain.
