    Liverpool opened talks over a potential deal for the Spanish under-21 international.
    Another Premier League club has now thrown their hat in the mix to sign Veiga, who has been dubbed the “Baby Kaka”.
    According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester City have entered the race after backing out of a deal to sign Declan Rice.
    Veiga, who has a £34million release clause, is under strong consideration by the treble winners.

    The report adds that both Liverpool and Chelsea remain interested in Veiga.
    The 21-year-old scored 11 goals and provided four assists in 36 league appearances for Celta last term.
    He also showed his versatility in midfield, starring in both attacking and defensive roles for the club.
    Any deal for Veiga is unlikely to be completed until next month, though, due to his international commitments.

    The youngster is currently with the Spain squad at the under-21 Euros.
    Spain are through to this weekend’s quarter-finals after topping their group, with the final scheduled for July 8.

    Liverpool defender Nat Phillips set to be offered career lifeline from Championship club in £10m transfer

    LEEDS have expressed an interest in signing out-of-favour Liverpool defender Nat Phillips, according to reports.The Whites were relegated to the Championship last month and they are now expected to lose several first team stars as a result.

    Defenders Rasmus Kristensen and Robin Koch have already been linked with a move away, with Roma and Manchester United understood to be interested.
    Leeds officials are now on the hunt for reinforcements, with Liverpool defender Phillips on their shortlist.
    According to The Athletic, the Whites are interested in signing the 26-year-old.
    Liverpool are thought to be asking for up to £10million for the out-of-favour star.

    However, it could be difficult for Leeds to complete a deal without a manager.
    Sam Allardyce, who took charge of the club for the final month of the 2022-23 campaign, announced his departure earlier this month.
    And club officials are yet to announce his successor.
    Daniel Farke has been linked with the job, so he could be keen on the prospect of signing Phillips if he takes over at Elland Road.

    Firmino had been linked with a host of European clubs after his Anfield exit was confirmed.
    However, the likes of Barcelona, Napoli and Real Madrid now look set to miss out, with Firmino linked with a move away from Europe.
    Fabrizio Romano reports that Saudi club Al-Ahli are in talks to sign the 31-year-old, with negotiations ongoing.
    The player has yet to make a decision on the move, but Al-Ahli are said to be preparing a medical in the hope they will be given the green light this week.

    Foot Mercato add that the deal is edging closer to completion as talks reach an advanced stage.
    According to their report, only a few small details are still to be finalised before the transfer can be announced.
    Firmino would become the latest in a growing list of players to move to the Saudi Pro League.
    N’Golo Kante and Karim Benzema have already joined champions Al-Ittihad, whilst Al-Hilal have signed both Ruben Neves and Kalidou Koulibaly.

    As for Al-Ahli, they are also on the verge of signing Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy.
    Mendy now looks set to be joined by Firmino at his new club as the pair edge closer to moves to the Middle East.
    Firmino was given an emotional send-off at Anfield last month following his final Liverpool home game.

    He scored a dramatic late equaliser against Aston Villa before scoring again against Southampton on the final day.
    Across eight years on Merseyside, Firmino scored 111 goals in 362 Liverpool appearances.

    Man City star Bernardo Silva could be the next to make the move with reports by CNN Portugal suggesting a transfer to Al-Hilal is close.
    But those in charge in the Saudi Pro League don’t want to stop there with one official having his sights firmly set on Liverpool superstar Salah.

    Hafez Al-Medlej, an official who has held roles with the Saudi Pro League as well as the Asian Football Confederation has urged clubs in Saudi Arabia to sign the Egyptian attacker.
    He told Koura (via AS) about the ambitions of the league.
    He said: “We are only living the beginning, all transferable footballers will from now on be targeted by Saudi clubs.
    “The experience of China has nothing to do with us, theirs was purely marketing. Soccer there is not the most popular.

    Mainz expect a positive answer from the Reds this week and should bring the centre-back into their side to add some invaluable experience next season.
    The Netherlands Under-21 international joined the Merseysiders in 2019 from Zwolle.
    The Dutchman has since only managed a total of four senior appearances for Liverpool.
    That is why Van den Berg was sent out on loan by Klopp’s side three times.

    However, the versatile defender admitted he gained invaluable experience from those loans, such as at Preston.

    “Now I’ve got something to come back here and show what I’ve learned and try to impress everyone.

    L’Equipe reports that he has now been made Liverpool’s priority target in the transfer window.
    Talks have been ongoing over a potential move for several weeks, with Thuram said to be open to a move.

    However, United could still have a say on any deal, depending on the outcome of the race to buy the club.
    Sir Jim Ratcliffe is one of the candidates to complete a takeover of the Red Devils after submitting a bid for the club.

    Klopp’s desire to bolster his midfield comes after a trio of players in the position departed the club.

    Liverpool ‘have £51m bid REJECTED for Real Madrid star as club demand £85m’ after splurging on Jude Bellingham transfer

    Reds manager Jurgen Klopp is keen on the Uruguayun midfielder as he attempts to change up his midfield after a disappointing seaosn.
    Liverpool have already completed the £35m signing of Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton.
    But Klopp is not done there and Spanish outlet El Nacional claim the Reds have already made their move for Valverde, 24.
    However, the say that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez will not accept anything less than £85m for one of their key players this season.

    Valverde has proven himself a valuable asset to Real Madrid after multiple successful seasons, scoring seven goals and notching four assists this year.
    He has been with Madrid for almost five years, and signed a new contract in 2021 , holding him until 2027 with a massive £856m release clause.
    At the time of signing he was also given a pay raise and now with an integral position in the team, Madrid are reluctant to let him go whilst improving their own midfield.
    Although Liverpool’s bid reportedly included add-ons that would increased the fee, Madrid remain reluctant to budge.
