Liverpool SHOULDN’T offer Mo Salah a new contract – they need to let him go to Saudi Arabia, claims club legend

LIVERPOOL have been urged not to offer Mo Salah a new contract. That’s as clubs in Saudi Arabia line up mega-money bids for the superstar forward.
Mo Salah should NOT be handed a new Liverpool deal, says a club legendCredit: Rex
Salah, 31, is a certified Liverpool legend after winning every club trophy available at Anfield.
The hitman has scored 198 goals in 321 games under Jurgen Klopp.
And he’s still going strong in his golden years, having netted 12 times already this season.
However, Salah’s future remains in doubt following a huge offer from Al-Ittihad in September.

The Saudi giants launched a world-record £215million to poach Liverpool’s star player on deadline day.
The Reds held firm, having handed Salah a new £400,000-a-week contract in 2022.
But with the Egyptian’s deal up in 2025, boss Klopp has a big decision to make.
He could insist on another new deal for Salah, who is still doing the business on the right side of his attack.

Mark Lawrenson reckons Liverpool should sell Salah to Saudi ArabiaCredit: PA
However, Liverpool legend Mark Lawrenson reckons this would be a mistake.
He feels Salah’s career is only going downwards ahead of his 32nd birthday in June.
And Lawrenson has urged Liverpool to cash in while they can so they can fund a new squad rebuild.
He told Paddy Power: “I don’t think Liverpool should offer Salah a new contract, they should let him go and take the money.
“You can understand him going to Saudi Arabia because of his nationality. I imagine that when he signed his last contract, given everything happening with the Saudi league, he would have known.
“I’m sure the club would be happy to say ‘thanks for your service to the club, we’ll get £100m and you get plenty of money and good luck’.
“I think the plus side of this is that Liverpool will be looking around in the market already for a replacement.
“They’ll have a shortlist of strikers noted down but they do have four already, which is good for when Salah leaves, they have back up.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if the manager and the player have already had a conversation about it. Klopp would be asking for him to give everything until the end of the season and then he can go.
“Salah will already be on silly money so it makes no sense for him to try and get more money from Liverpool, because when you get past the age of 30, you don’t play as many games and then the club wouldn’t be getting bang for their buck.” More

Reports previously suggest the defensive midfielder verbally agreed to move to Anfield.

In doing so they were set to go toe-to-toe with the Reds after a spike in his form for Bayern Munich this season.
However, fresh reports in Spain reveal LaLiga giants Barcelona and Real Madrid are also in the running.
According to Sport, Bayern could look to cash in on Sane in the summer with his contract expiring in 2025.
The report indicates there has been no agreement between the German and his club over a contract extension.

It adds that Sane, 27, has not shut the door on a move to Spain.

Meanwhile, Champions League specialists Madrid are looking to improve their depth in attack after Vinicius Jr. was ruled out for two and a half months after getting injured on international duty with Brazil last week.

Liverpool supremo David Moores left whopping £78.3m fortune in his will after dying just weeks following family tragedy

FORMER Liverpool FC Chairman David Moores left £78.3million in his will – with his fortune passing to family.Moores – nephew of the late John Moores, who founded the Littlewoods football pools in the 1920s then branched out into department stores – bequeathed the huge estate after dying aged 76 last July.
Former Liverpool FC chairman David Moores left over £78million in his willCredit: News Group Newspapers Ltd
And paperwork released today showed he wanted his fortune held in trust for relatives, including his step-children David and Lisa.
Moores, who was from one of Britain’s wealthiest families and went into the Littlewoods business, married twice – first to former Miss England Kathy Anders in 1976.
But she died, aged 26, a year later in a tragic car crash when Moores’ Jaguar spun into a ditch.
He suffered serious head injuries but recovered and wed Marjorie Walmsley in 1983.

Marjorie died in February 2022, just months before Mr Moores – and left £14 million to him and her two children, David and Lisa.
The couple lived in a mansion in Halsall, 15 miles north of Liverpool.
Paperwork shows he left the home to his step-daughter, Lisa.
A football source said: “David Moores was an old-fashioned gent, who was a familiar face at Liverpool FC and also around the city.
    Most read in Football
“He was also a hugely successful businessman and it is no wonder he left such a huge estate and that family would benefit from it.”
Legendary footie figure Moores – known for Beatles-style “mop-top” and distinctive black moustache – was chairman of the club between 1991 and 2007.
His family had, for years, held stakes in both Liverpool and Everton and in 1991 David Moores acquired a controlling 51 per cent stake in the Reds.
In his 16 years at the helm, he steered Liverpool through the formation of the Premier League, and appointed the club’s first foreign manager – Gerard Houliier – in 1998.
Liverpool landed the League Cup, FA cup and UEFA Cup in 2001, before Moores hired Spanish coach Rafa Benitez in 2004.
Under Benitez, the club famously won the Champions League in 2005.
The Merseysiders came back from 3-0 down v AC Milan in Istanbul to win on penalties.
Liverpool midfielder Dietmar Hamann later told how Moores visited the team’s victorious dressing room to congratulate the players after the game.
He said: “He never said anything, he had a tear running down his cheek and I pulled him into the showers and asked for a cigarette.
“We never said a word, we had a smoke and it was the most perfect end to the night, to share that moment of peace and quiet.”
Despite famous triumphs, Liverpool found themselves overshadowed domestically by clubs including Manchester United, Arsenal and then a Roman Abramovich-backed Chelsea.
Moores – worried his family’s resources would not be enough to compete with clubs like Chelsea – began looking for a buyer in 2007.
He eventually sold to US businessmen Thomas Hicks and George Gillett – a move he later admitted regretting. More

Man City ‘considering shock transfer for former player sold by Pep Guardiola but face competition from Liverpool’

LEROY SANE has been linked with a sensational return to Manchester City according to reports in the German media.Bild claim that City will rival interest from Liverpool in order to win their former winger back.
Leroy Sane has been sensational for Bayern this seasonCredit: Getty
Sane, 27, has been in excellent form for Bayern this season and has benefited in particular from the arrival of Harry Kane.
The winger has eight goals and six assists in 11 Bundesliga games this season.
His contract is up in 2025, meaning Bayern may look to cash in by selling in the upcoming summer window.
Sane’s transfer to Bayern in 2020 took many by surprise, with the winger then being one of the Premier League’s finest young talents.
    READ MORE ON FOOTBALL
Bayern paid £54.1 million for the German international with many saying that it was an argument with Pep Guardiola that convinced the club to sell.
Sane had also missed much of the 2019-20 season with a knee injury before making his transfer.
While Sane is being linked with Liverpool and Manchester City, Bild do report that he is in negotiations to renew his contract at Bayern – so this could be a ploy for a bigger payout on that particular deal.
Liverpool are quite stacked in the wing position as it stands.

The Reds have Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz that all play in the position with Cody Gakpo sometimes operating off the left too.
Sane could definitely be an option if Salah were to leave next summer for Saudi Arabia.
The Reds had their resolve tested when the Saudi Pro League offered £150million in the closing stages of the transfer window but remained firm.
But with Liverpool now firmly aware of Saudi’s interest, a move for Sane could be part of their contingency plans should Salah leave. More

Kylian Mbappe wanted by Liverpool and European rivals as Real Madrid face missing out on No1 transfer target

Real Madrid had been favourites to land the striker in June but his astronomical salary of £30m per year, his recent performances and the club’s “financial issues” have led to doubts.
According to Foot Mercato, Real’s hesitations have led to Liverpool as well as Bayern considering a serious bid for the 24-year-old.
The Reds have been keeping an eye on the France international since 2017 when he joined PSG initially on loan from Monaco before his permanent move a year later.
The Merseysiders’ manager Jurgen Klopp even met for talks with Mbappe before his move to Parc des Princes.

Recent reports also suggested Liverpool and the Frenchman’s camp have remained in contact in the period since.
The versatile forward confirmed there were talks with the Premier League giants six years ago and they had a “greater chance” of signing him.
Mbappe said last year: “We talked a little bit, but not too much. We talked a little bit.
“I talked to Liverpool because it’s the favourite club of my mum, my mum loves Liverpool. I don’t know why, you will have to ask her!

“It’s a good club and we met them five years ago. When I was in Monaco I met them. It’s a big club.”
According to Sport 1, Bayern are also ready to join the bidding war for Mbappe.
The German champions hold a “serious” interest for the 2018 World Cup winner even though they understand how “complicated” a potential deal could turn out to be. More

Man Utd and Liverpool handed major Kylian Mbappe transfer boost with Real Madrid move ‘at risk due to financial issues’

REAL MADRID have sparked a double red alert with claims they can’t afford to sign Kylian Mbappe.Manchester United and Liverpool have been monitoring the PSG striker’s situation as his contract expires next summer.

The Telegraph suggest “financial issues” have dented Real’s chances of recruiting their long-time top target.
Now Premier League giants, including Chelsea, might ponder launching a staggering offer for the France star in January.
Mbappe, 24, has already rejected a reported offer from Saudi club Al-Hilal worth around 1billion euros (£787m) in wages and a transfer fee close to 300m euros (£262m).
Back in July the pacy 73-cap hero was given two weeks to extend his current PSG deal – or be sold.

But he never signed – and instead was retained.
The French champions will hate risking losing Mbappe for free at the end of the season.
But Luis Enrique’s Ligue 1 leaders are also determined to mount a serious challenge for the Champions League.
And assuming they squeeze into the group stages, selling their star player in the January transfer window would put a huge dent in those ambitions.

Real have also denied holding talks with PSG over the ex-Monaco man.
In a dream world the Spanish giants would love to field Mbappe behind their £115m England midfielder Jude Bellingham.
But the club said in a statement: “Given information in the media about negotiations between the player Kylian Mbappe and our club, Real Madrid state that this information is categorically false.
“Negotiations have not taken place with a player who belongs to PSG.” More
