Mbappe in showdown talks with PSG president over new £430k-a-week contract amid Liverpool and Madrid transfer interest

KYLIAN MBAPPE is in showdown talks with Paris Saint-Germain’s president over a new £430,000-a-week contract, according to reports. The French superstar’s contract expires next summer as transfer interest hots up from Liverpool and Real Madrid.

Negotiations between Mbappe’s agents and PSG sporting director Leonardo had failed to result in a new deal getting signed.
Leonardo was apparently more fixated on impressing the striker with finances rather than on-pitch ambitions.
And according to Get French Football News, president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has taken over the talks to try and tie Mbappe down.
A source said: “Nasser gets on very well with the family and has done since Kylian’s signing in 2017.
“There is a real respect between them.”
Any new deal is expected to see Mbappe rewarded with a slight pay rise from his current £430k-a-week pre-tax package.
But Mbappe is thought to be more concerned with the Parc des Princes project – and wants to see Achraf Hakimi and Gianluigi Donnarumma follow Georginio Wijnaldum into the club.
The report adds there have been further complications with several representatives getting involved wanting a cut.

Mbappe, who signed for PSG permanently for £162million in 2018, is widely considered one of the best footballers on the planet and expected to win several Ballons d’Or.
He scored 42 goals in 47 appearances across all competitions last season but it was a campaign that ended in disappointment for PSG after their Ligue 1 and Champions League failures.
Liverpool and Real Madrid both want to sign Mbappe.
Neither club, however, have made an official approach to do so because they cannot fund a deal this summer due to the effects of the pandemic.
They are therefore hoping Mbappe refuses to put pen to paper and leaves as a free agent next summer.
PSG, of course, are desperate not to allow that to happen – especially with the World Cup being staged in Qatar, where PSG’s owner Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani is the head of state.

Liverpool ‘enquire about Kylian Mbappe’ with Reds prepared to rival Real Madrid for blockbuster transfer from PSG

LIVERPOOL have reportedly ‘enquired about the availability’ of Paris Saint-Germain striker Kylian Mbappe. The French striker has just one year left on his current deal at the Parc des Princes and there is no indication an extension is close.

Real Madrid are believed to be the frontrunners to sign Mbappe, but according to Marca Liverpool are also in the frame.
PSG chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi has been bold in his prediction that Mbappe, currently with France at the Euros, will be going nowhere.
But there is the very real chance that Mbappe could see out the final year and leave on a free in 2022.
Marca adds that Liverpool’s enquiry is ‘more out of hope than expectation’ that they could manage to bring the 22-year-old to Anfield this summer.
Real Madrid are growing increasingly confident PSG will be forced to sell this summer or risk losing him for nothing.
Los Blancos are struggling financially due to the pandemic but know they can raise cash in player sales in preparation to sign Mbappe.
Luka Jovic, Dani Ceballos and Brahim Diaz are believed to be up for grabs to make way for the rapid forward.
Real Madrid made their interest in Mbappe well known in 2017 when he left Monaco but the club already boasted Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema in attack.
BETTING SPECIAL: GET ENGLAND TO BEAT GERMANY AT 14/1

The situation is now different at the Bernabeu with Mbappe told he will become the club’s main man.
The player has made no secret of his desire to play in the famous white colours in the past, calling it a ‘dream.’
So Liverpool might have a hard job persuading Mbappe to spurn Real Madrid for Anfield.

Liverpool star Nat Phillips wanted by Burnley and Brighton in summer transfer after impressive breakout season

BURNLEY are reportedly competing with Brighton in the race to prise centre-back Nathaniel Phillips away from Liverpool. The 24-year-old impressed in his breakthrough season for the Reds after coming into the side following the injuries to Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip.

Phillips, who enjoyed a loan spell with Stuttgart in the second half of the 2019-20 season, finished with 20 appearances during the 2020-21 campaign.
He even scored a vital goal in the 3-0 win away at Turf Moor on May 19 as he proved instrumental in Liverpool securing Champions League football.
Following his dazzling displays at the back, a number of Premier League sides are looking to secure his services.
SunSport have revealed how Steve Bruce is looking to bring him to Newcastle, while Southampton have made enquiries over him.
But Goal have stated that Burnley and Brighton are the two teams that have expressed the strongest interest in the player – valued at over £20million.
The Clarets could press ahead with a move for Phillips should they sell James Tarkowski, while the Seagulls could have to replace Ben White as Arsenal prepare a second offer.
With Liverpool’s defenders set to return from injury as well as the arrival of Ibrahima Konate from RB Leipzig, Phillips’ chances in the first-team could be limited.
And it is understood that the player, who still has two years left on his deal at Anfield, would be willing to depart in search of regular football.

Speaking recently, he told Goal: “The plan at the moment is to go back to Liverpool for pre-season and just go from there, really.
“Every player wants to be playing games, and at the stage I’m at, I need to be playing games for my development.
“I think if you look from my first game last season to my last, there was development and I felt a lot more confident and comfortable. I want to keep that progression.
“In terms of Liverpool, they obviously play a huge amount of games every year.
“Game-time is never guaranteed for anyone, but it would depend on whether there’s enough opportunity within those games for me, I guess.”
Another Liverpool academy graduate that could be on his way out of Merseyside is right-back Neco Williams, who is also on Burnley’s radar.

And he also provided 12 assists for Salzburg, making him a highly sought-after attacker across Europe.
Chelsea have been long-time admirers of the Zambian international, who has also netted seven times in 22 appearances for his country.
And Liverpool recently joined them in their pursuit of Daka, who could be available for the bargain price of £17million.
Back in March it was also reported that Manchester United and Arsenal were looking to battle it out for his services.
But according to The Mirror, FA Cup winners Leicester are now also interested in acquiring the rising star.
Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers is looking for a long-term replacement for Jamie Vardy.
Vardy, 34, is a club legend at the King Power Stadium having scored 147 goals in 352 games across nine seasons.

But as he reaches the twilight of his career, Rodgers is forced to plan for the future.
And he will be looking to find a new partner for Kelechi Iheanacho to play alongside up front.
Daka could be just the man to fill that void as he is linked with a move to England after two stellar seasons on the continent.
Across the past couple of campaigns, Daka has managed a remarkable 61 goals in 87 games, meaning he is in no way a one-season wonder.

Kostas Tsimikas is wanted by Fenerbahce after failing to make an impact at Liverpool
Fenerbahce are reportedly looking for a new left-back, and have been linked with a move for Real Madrid star Marcelo.
And according to Fotomac, via Sport Witness, the Turkish giants also like the look of Tsimikas.
They are believed to be keeping tabs on him ahead of a potential move this summer.
But a move may only happen if Fenerbahce sell both Caner Erkin and Filip Novak this summer, as Liverpool could demand a significant fee for Tsimikas.
The Greece international was signed for £12million a year ago and still has four years remaining on his contract.
However, the report claims Liverpool could seek a loan move for the 25-year-old.

But with Fenerbahce said to be aiming to buy Tsimikas before loaning him out that does not really fit their plans.
Jurgen Klopp seems to think Tsimikas is surplus to requirements, which is unsurprising given Andy Robertson is rarely unavailable.
As a result, Tsimikas may have to prepare for another season of sitting on the bench if he does not get a move this summer.

Liverpool are reportedly on the verge of meeting the talented centre-back’s £35million asking price, which they will have to pay in one instalment.
If all goes well then the 22-year-old will link up with his new team after the Under-21 European Championship where he competes with France.
Jurgen Klopp has been keeping tabs on Konate ever since 2017 when the defender was playing for Sochaux.

The Netherlands international has been linked with a move to Barcelona with manager Ronald Koeman a major admirer of the 30-year-old.
According to Sport1, however, Bayern are also keen on landing the ex-Newcastle star in the summer.
It has also been reported that the Bundesliga champions have contacted Wijnaldum’s representatives.
It is reported that ‘talks are going well’ and a summer deal is ‘possible’, in what poses as a major blow for Barcelona’s transfer hopes.
This comes after Bild claimed there’s no truth in rumours linking Bayern with the Dutchman.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has admitted that Wijnaldum has yet to tell the club whether he wants to stay beyond the end of the season.
That means that Saturday’s clash with Crystal Palace at Anfield could be his last ever game with the Reds.
Klopp wrote in the official matchday programme: “On the playing staff we have a hugely important player who is out of contract with us.

Liverpool ‘looking at Jadon Sancho again’ but face transfer battle with Man Utd and Chelsea for Borussia Dortmund star

LIVERPOOL are reconsidering a move for Borussia Dortmund and England forward Jadon Sancho, according to reports. The 21-year-old has scored 16 goals and provided a further 18 assists in 36 games for the German side this season.
Sancho has been sensational for Dortmund again this seasonCredit: AP
And his supreme form has caught the eye of Premier League sides Manchester United and Chelsea.
But after passing up any interest in him last season, Bild reporter Christian Faulkner has revealed that Liverpool are now back in the running for the talented youngster.
He said: “That is indeed, true, Liverpool are looking at Sancho again.
“He is on the list, especially because they don’t know what will happen with [Mohamed] Salah, who is always a bit on the move and thinking about a transfer.
“Chelsea are also very interested, as we have reported, and also Spain lures him again and again.
“If Salah were to be sold or he says he doesn’t want to be at the club any more then there would surely be movement on Sancho with Liverpool.”
Man Utd were heavily linked with Sancho throughout last summer as Dormund set an asking price of more than £100million.
But it is thought that the Bundesliga side could lower the price to as much as £50m this time around.
