FORMER Holland international Rafael van der Vaart has slammed PSG midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum for his decision to leave Liverpool last summer.The 31-year-old Dutchman left Anfield when his contract expired at the end of last season.

He then joined PSG on a free transfer but it has not worked out so far for the Holland international.
Wijnaldum has scored just three goals and assisted three more in 31 appearances for the Ligue 1 leaders.
His poor form has led fellow Dutch midfielder Steven Berghuis to move ahead of him in the national team pecking order.
Ajax man Berghuis, who joined the Eredivisie champions from Feyenoord in the summer, started in the win over Denmark and the draw with Germany, with Wijnaldum having to settle for a place on the bench.

And compatriot Van der Vaart hopes Wijnaldum now recognises that he made the wrong decision to join PSG.
The ex-Tottenham man said: “Wijnaldum made a mistake in choosing PSG, while Berghuis made an excellent choice choosing to move from Feyenoord to Ajax.
“Now Georgino will understand why making the right choice is so important.”

Arsenal and Liverpool set for transfer battle over Cody Gakpo after he ‘reaches verbal agreement to quit PSV Eindhoven’

ARSENAL and Liverpool are among the European heavyweights battling it out to sign Cody Gakpo, according to reports.However, they face competition for his signature from Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

The PSV Eindhoven winger, 22, was linked with a January exit to Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United or City before pledging his future to his boyhood club until 2026.
However, according to The Athletic, Gakpo has a verbal agreement to be allowed to hold talks with other clubs if an appropriate offer comes in.
There is not thought to be a formal release clause in the paperwork, though.
With the likes of Bukayo Saka and Mo Salah’s futures still unclear at the Emirates and Anfield respectively, Arsenal and Liverpool may move for Gakpo.
