Klopp’s Reds with some breathing space
Liverpool do not play again for 11 days, giving the German manager chance to let his players rest.
They will be working hard to get some of their injured players back to full fitness also.
The Reds’ next league game is on January 21 away to Bournemouth.
Klopp’s side will play the second leg of this Carabao Cup semi-final on January 24 at Craven Cottage.
    Ally Mac making sweet music
Alexis Mac Allister came back into the team today and was integral with Liverpool’s win.
With Dominik Szoboszlai missing, the Argentinian tried to link the defence and attack.
Mac Allister has shown the Anfield faithful just how much he has to offer to this midfield today.

    Young gun proves his worth
Conor Bradley probably did not expect to get many chances at right back this season, given that Trent Alexander Arnold is his competition.
When called upon today, the young full back put in a brilliant performance, getting forward as often as possible.
In addition to this, he had to deal with the experienced Willian down the left also.
The boss seemed pleased at full time with Bradley.

You can see why Jurgen Klopp likes Darwen Nunez – for starters the Uruguyan also has that slightly demonic glint in his eye.
Nunez may not exactly be an Erling Halland when it comes to finishing but he has a certain energy that his team mates feed off.
Just like here in what could have been a bad night for his manager.
He didn’t score (again) but once he arrived on the scene the big striker lit a fire that burned through Fulham’s resistance.
The Cottagers head home still with hope for a second leg fightback, but by the end they were intent only on damage limitation after Nunez stole centre stage.
    FT: Liverpool 2-1 Fulham
It was a much-improved performance from Liverpool in the second half after a drab start to the game.
Having only registered a single shot on target, they added another six after the interval.
More importantly, the broke down the stubborn resistance from The Cottagers.

    FT: Liverpool 2-1 Fulham
The referee brings the game to a close.
Liverpool take a slender lead to Craven Cottage.
Having been a goal down for so long, the fans will take this.
    Liverpool 2-1 Fulham
90+4. Robinson checks inside Bradley and is brought to ground.
Chance for Fulham to look for a late equaliser.
Wilson looks to whip it in but it is easily cleared.
    Liverpool 2-1 Fulham
90+2. Liverpool are patiently building play.
Trying to find a way to breakdown this Fulham defence one more time.
The visitors have everyone bar Jimenez behind the ball now.
    Liverpool 2-1 Fulham
    90. Bradley puts a brilliant cross into the box.
Nunez meets it and half the ground thinks he has scored but Leno makes a fantastic save with his feet.
That could prove to be an important stop in the context of this tie from the Fulham keeper.
We are going to have an additional four minutes.
    Liverpool 2-1 Fulham
    88. Fulham are not offering anything in terms of an attacking threat currently.
They have everyone behind the ball when Liverpool are in possession.
Lukic is shown a yellow card for a challenge on Darwin Nunez.

    Liverpool 2-1 Fulham
    86. Jones seems to be struggling for Liverpool, having picked up a knock.
Nunez is stretching the Fulham defensive line constantly.
The visitors will be focussed on not conceding another goal before the full times whistle now.
    Liverpool 2-1 Fulham
    84. Gakpo comes forward and feigns a shot, to see the defender go sliding past him.
He feeds it into the path of Nunez, who fires a shot off at goal.
Albeit from a tight angle, he forces another instinctive save from Leno.
    Liverpool 2-1 Fulham
    82. Fulham would have probably taken this scoreline before the game.
Silva will not be happy given the position they got themselves into but rarely is the manager in a positive mood.
Lukic comes on for Reed for the visitors.
    Liverpool 2-1 Fulham
    80. A cross is whipped in and Nunez heads it towards goal.
Leno is forced to tip it over the bar with an elaborate save.
The corner is not dealt with and Diaz picks it up but his attempted cross is blocked and Fulham bring it clear.
    Liverpool 2-1 Fulham
    78. Nunez does well to hold the ball up.
Bradley comes steaming forward once again.
Gakpo plays it back to the Uruguayan and he looks to drill it across goal from the byline.
Fulham manage to hack the ball clear.

Jurgen Klopp’s No 2 Pep Lijnders always seems like he is trying to give an extra dimension to the meaning of positivity when his master is not using his voice.
He declared that while magic Mo is away with Egypt and Alexander-Arnold is recovering from a knee injury “no one is irreplaceable”.
Yet the Kop were wishing the duo were  very much in their places for Salah was not around to frighten the Fulham defence, while frantic Liverpool were so badly missing the passing, prompting and presence of TAA.
Nunez, as expected, appears, along with Cody Gakpo in exchange for Harvey Elliott and Ryan Gravenberch.
The dynamic, slowly but surely, starts to change and Curtis Jones produces the one example of pure quality so far with a brilliant strike from distance.
Suddenly Kop gears are clicking, Gakpo coming up with the sweetest of finishes as sweet music now cascades around the ground – well most of it, anyway.
    Liverpool 2-1 Fulham
    76. Liverpool look hungry for more goals here.
Fulham looked in control until Jones’ deflected effort.
Now they look capable of scoring every time they come forward.
Say what you like about Nunez’s finishing but he makes things happen when he is on the pitch for The Reds.
    Liverpool 2-1 Fulham
    74. Wilson and Cairney come on for the visitors.
    They replace Willian and Pereira.
Bradley plays a neat one-two and wins a free kick on the edge of the box as De Cordova-Reid brings him down.
    Liverpool 2-1 Fulham
    72. Jota holds the ball up before slotting it to Nunez.
He spots Gakpo and cuts it back from the byline to him.
The Dutch youngster sweeps the ball home to turn this game on its head.
    Goal – Cody Gakpo (Liverpool)
    Liverpool 1-1 Fulham
    70. The ball breaks to Jones outside the box who tries his luck.
Tosin turns his back on the shot and it deflects off his back and loops up over Leno and into the goal.
Anfield erupts as they finally get the goal they have been craving.
    Credit: AFP
    Goal – Curtis Jones (Liverpool)
    Liverpool 0-1 Fulham
    68. As the free kick comes in Robinson tries to head clear.
He misses the ball with head completely and it strikes his arm.
The Liverpool players and fans call for a penalty but the referee is not interested at all.
Had VAR been in play, I think they would have been asking the referee to go to the monitor there.
    Liverpool 0-1 Fulham
    66. Bradley is scythed down by Palhinha on the edge of the box.
The Liverpool youngster is having a good game today.
Big chance for The Reds to make the visitors pay now.
    Liverpool 0-1 Fulham
    64. Jones runs towards the penalty area but Palhinha puts in a perfectly-timed challenge.
Diaz picks up the loose ball but is hacked down by De Cordova-Reid.
The Fulham player is shown a yellow card for the challenge. More

    That’s all from the Riverside
But, thankfully for Chelsea, it’s not the end of the tie.
The Blues will have to be much better in the second leg at Stamford Bridge in two weeks if they are to overturn this one-goal deficit – and they will need to learn how to put the ball in the back of the net.
Depleted Middlesbrough were excellent throughout, soaking up large spells of pressure and then punishing their Premier League visitors on the counter.
Michael Carrick’s men are more than in this semi-final at the halfway stage, and can head into the return fixture full of belief with Wembley just 90 minutes away.
Thanks for joining us, and goodnight.

    Poch: We made mistakes
Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino insisted his side’s approach was the right one tonight, but they were simply punished by some mistakes at either end of the pitch.
The Argentine remains confident that his team will turn around the deficit during the second leg on home soil.
The approach was good. I think we made some mistakes. I think we gave them chances to score, and then they were really tough. They played in transition with a low block. Still, we had many chances to score but we didn’t. We have another 90 minutes at Stamford Bridge and we need to be positive.Mauricio PochettinoSky Sports

    Sterling struggles with another semi
Some of the fiercest Chelsea criticism this evening is being directed at Raheem Sterling, who struggled to make an impact against Championship opposition.
By failing to find the net, it means that the forward’s run without scoring in a semi-final extends to 21 such matches.

    Harsh throwback for upset Blues
It’s been a quarter of a century since Chelsea last lost a League Cup game inside 90 minutes to a lower division side.
In other words, it was pre-Abramovich.

    Match stats from the Riverside
Defeat for Chelsea who had 18 shots, 72% possession and what felt like 250 crosses that went straight out of play.

Full time – Middlesbrough 1-0 Chelsea
    Advantage Middlesbrough!
Hayden Hackney’s first half goal means that the Championship club will take a 1-0 lead to London for the second leg in a fortnight.
Chelsea huffed, Chelsea puffed, but did so little that their lower-level hosts were comfortable.
It’s a point not lost on the travelling fans either. As the home fans celebrate, the visiting section are letting their players know exactly what they think.
Thiago Silva heads over in an attempt to appease the booing Blues, but something seems seriously amiss with the Stamford Bridge club.

    Middlesbrough 1-0 Chelsea
90+4. A final chance of the evening is headed into the side netting by substitute Alfie Gilchrist.
It took a nick so leads to a corner, but Fry, Clark and Engel are up to the task, just as they have been all evening.
Middlesbrough 1-0 Chelsea – Jones yellow card
90+2. Middlesbrough’s Isiah Jones is cautioned for time wasting over a throw-in on the near side.
If we’re truly talking time wasting, then the whole Chelsea squad should go into the book.
    Middlesbrough 1-0 Chelsea
    90. There’s a few seconds respite for Middlesbrough as Matt Crooks receives treatment after rolling his ankle.
It’s the cue for the fourth official to hold up the board that shows there will be four minutes of additional time.
The Riverside Stadium is as loud as it’s been tonight.
    Middlesbrough 1-0 Chelsea
    88. The Middlesbrough defence are standing tall to everything that’s been thrown at them.
A Clark header out. A Fry volley clear. Clark again when Chelsea return with another centre.
    Middlesbrough 1-0 Chelsea
    86. We have a late new entry for worst cross of the evening, and it’s straight in at number one.
    Stand up, Conor Gallagher.
    Middlesbrough 1-0 Chelsea
    85. Five minutes remain on the night, 95 to go in the tie.
Middlesbrough lead by a single goal, and it’s all getting a little frantic as they try to protect it.
It’s a sea of red bodies as Gallagher lines up an effort, one that is bravely blocked at close quarters.
    Middlesbrough 1-0 Chelsea
    83. A Chelsea corner leads to some pinball inside the Middlesbrough six-yard box but before anyone in blue can pounce, Jonny Howson emerges to thump to safety.
    A captain’s contribution.
    Middlesbrough 1-0 Chelsea
    81. And it almost does!
Broja comes left to finally involve himself, and then offers a directness that has been lacking from Chelsea tonight.
The Albanian cuts back inside and then out again before sending a cross-shot towards the far post.
It evades the outstretched arm of Glover – but also the outstretched leg of Sterling.
    Middlesbrough 1-0 Chelsea
    79. Armando Broja has only touched the ball five times since coming on – and still looks a bigger threat than Mudryk.
If only Chelsea could get the ball to him, then something may happen.
    Middlesbrough 1-0 Chelsea
    77. The home fans raise the noise levels for one last push.
The Middlesbrough supporters have put in as big a shift as their players tonight.
    Middlesbrough 1-0 Chelsea
    75. Chelsea have had 75% of possession in the second half, but only recorded five attempts at goal.
Thanks heavens the transfer window is open, and Todd Boehly can put all this right…
    Middlesbrough 1-0 Chelsea
    73. Since he came on 13 minutes ago, Mudryk has specialised in dribbling the ball straight into opponents.
    Middlesbrough 1-0 Chelsea
    71. You know things are bad when even Thiago Silva is making mistakes.
The Brazilian legend slips over on the wet surface as Boro launch their latest counter, and it momentarily lets Coburn through on goal.
The youngster doesn’t have the pace to outstrip the 39-year-old, however, and Silva soon gets back to push him off the ball.
There was the option for Coburn to slip in Crooks, but opted against it thinking his teammate was offside.
    Middlesbrough 1-0 Chelsea
    70. Bizarrely, that double Chelsea change seems to have spurred a new lease of life into Middlesbrough.
The Blues look even more toothless than they did before.
    Middlesbrough 1-0 Chelsea
    68. For a side that has spent so much of the second half defending, Middlesbrough love to get numbers forward when the opportunity presents itself.
A corner follows that last counter, and shortly afterwards Barlaser takes aim with a rising blaster from 25 yards out. Over.

    Middlesbrough 1-0 Chelsea

    66. No, Boro still have the will and ability to attack!
Coburn does very well to hold up play, and then brings in Crooks, who releases Jones.
The winger drives into the penalty area and goes searching for former Rangers man Crooks at the far post.
However, this time Jones gets his delivery wrong, sending the low centre behind his teammate.
    Middlesbrough 1-0 Chelsea
    65. Middlesbrough have dropped very, very deep.
As Chelsea probe forward again, the hosts have nine players back inside their own penalty area.
Are they happy to protect their one-goal lead?
Middlesbrough 1-0 Chelsea – Chelsea double substitution
    63. Here we go!
The electronic board goes up and it’s the end of the night for Enzo Fernandez and Noni Madueke.
Mauricio Pochettino has sent for Mykhailo Mudryk and Armando Broja.
“What a waste of money!” rings around the Riverside Stadium. Take your pick at who that’s aimed at.
    Middlesbrough 1-0 Chelsea
    61. Gallagher works a half-chance for himself, controlling a cross from right and acrobatically spinning in one movement while falling backwards.
Mid-breakdance, the Chelsea captain gets a shot away that veers wide of the far post. More

Red Devils need to change focus
Man Utd entertain Tottenham at Old Trafford on Sunday.
If they hold any hope of finishing in a league position to qualify for Europe next season, they need to find some consistency.
That starts this weekend as they welcome Ange Postecoglou’s Spurs to Manchester.
Nothing but victory will do for Erik ten Hag, with the new owners watching.
    Glimmers of hope for fans
Over the course of the game, you would have to say United did dominate the game and could have scored plenty more.
Rashford looked more like a player who had a hunger to try and score goals and over the course of the game had four shots on target.
Garnacho looked dangerous, as ever, but he probably has been the one shining light of this disappointing season so far.
All that said, the reality is that Man Utd were playing a League One team today and given the strength of the side they put out should be scoring more goals.
Boss gives his view on victory
The Dutch manager spoke about his side’s win at Wigan:

    Hojlund still struggling for form
While the result was all that mattered tonight, Man Utd’s misfiring striker continued to struggle to find the net.
Many ex-footballers, particularly strikers, often say ‘if you keep getting yourself in the box the goals will come’.
This seems to be part of the problem for Hojlund as he isn’t making those runs often enough and picks the ball up in areas where he cannot hurt the opponents.
He had two big chances to score today, one which he headed over the bar and the other where he managed to put it wide when he had a mainly open goal to aim for.
The jury is still well and truly out on the Red Devils’ marquee summer signing.

    View from the DW Stadium
Goals from Diogo Dalot and Bruno Fernandes were enough to book United a place in the fourth round in comfortable style.
But Erik ten Hag will be concerned that his forwards Marcus Rashford and Rasmus Hojlund both had nights to forget.
It would not have flattered the Red Devils if they had scored a hatful but they wasted countless opportunities.
Latics keeper Sam Tickle and the woodwork prevented the visitors running away with it.
Nobody could deny United were worthy winners though against a spirited but limited Wigan side.
    FT: Wigan 0-2 Man Utd
It was a comfortable win in the end for Man Utd but against better sides they may have paid for their poor finishing.
Hojlund failed to score after getting his first Premier League goal after over 1000 minutes of football.
They now face either Eastleigh or Newport in the fourth round.

    FT: Wigan 0-2 Man Utd
The referee brings the game to a close.
It is a routine win for Man Utd in a game they dominated.
Wigan gave a good account of themselves but they were always going to struggle against Man Utd’s first eleven.
    Wigan 0-2 Man Utd
90+2. Forson and Hannibal come on for the visitors.
Was well worth the latter player asking not to be included in Tunisia’s AFCON squad to establish himself at Old Trafford.
No doubt these two minutes will be integral to that.
    Wigan 0-2 Man Utd
    90. Diogo Dalot is awarded the player of the match award.
It was his goal that opened the scoring with a sublime strike earlier in the game.
We are going to have four additional minutes at the DW Stadium.
    Credit: Alamy
    Wigan 0-2 Man Utd
    88. Man Utd’s fans start singing ‘we’re going to Wembley’.
That may well happen if they can avoid drawing any side from the Premier League or top half of the Championship for the rest of the FA Cup.
Wigan continue to come forward looking for what would surely only be a consolation now.
    Wigan 0-2 Man Utd
    86. Hojlund feeds the ball to Rashford who looks to drop the shoulder and beat his man.
He gets to the byline and looks to cut it back into the box.
Wigan defend it well at the expense of a corner.
    Wigan 0-2 Man Utd
    84. Aasgaard has a shot from the edge of the box but it is always curling away from goal.
Onana goes down to make the save but then pulls away from it.
Man Utd are just looking to run down the clock now.
    View from the DW Stadium
Finally United have breathing space – thanks to the skipper Bruno Fernandes.
The longer it went on with just a goal in it, the more Wigan would be fancying their chances of a replay.
Midfield pair McTominay and Mainoo had both missed chances in the second half – but Wigan had a couple of moments too
Yet Fernandes was becoming more influential and he won the spot-kick inside the last 20 minutes and then sent Tickle the wrong way from the spot.
A fourth round tie with Newport or Eastleigh is now in the bag for Erik ten Hag’s men.
    Wigan 0-2 Man Utd
    82. Garnacho twists and turns on the left-hand side of the box.
He tries to get a shot away but Tickle turns it behind for a corner.
The keeper has a solid game for Wigan this evening.
    Credit: PA
    Wigan 0-2 Man Utd
    80. Credit where it’s due to Wigan, they have made a real cup tie of this.
Man Utd have also played a big part with their poor finishing of course while we are doing shout-outs.
Erik ten Hag’s side have one foot in the fourth round now.
    Wigan 0-2 Man Utd
    78. Wigan are trying to throw more bodies forward now.
McManaman and Garnacho have a coming together.
    Nothing doing as play continues.
    Wigan 0-2 Man Utd
    76. That goal pretty much puts this game to bed now.
It has to be said had this game been played with VAR, they would not have overruled the referee, that’s not their vibe.
After all, the technology does not check whether it was a penalty or not in those instances but whether the referee has made a ‘clear and obvious error’.
    Wigan 0-2 Man Utd
    74. Wigan can feel hard done by there with no VAR.
While there was contact, there was definitely not enough to send Fernandes to the floor.
He steps up after his miraculous recovery to slot the ball home.
One step closer to the Ballon D’Floor.
Goal – Bruno Fernandes (Man Utd)
    Penalty to Man Utd
    Wigan 0-1 Man Utd
    70. Man Utd are looking to over-complicate things in the final third over and over again.
Too often looking to walk the ball into the back of the net.
This is starting have a bit of an Arsenal v Liverpool feeling to this game where they could be punished for their inability to score.
Meanwhile, Erik ten Hag shows the bench some snowflakes he’s spotted.
    Credit: PA
    Wigan 0-1 Man Utd
    68. Hojlund picks up the ball and runs into the box, being forced wider and wider.
The Danish striker looks to shoot and it is an easy save for Tickle.
Might be overselling that calling it a save, more picking the ball up from the turf.
    Wigan 0-1 Man Utd
    66. Both McTominay and Fernandes have chances in quick succession to put the game to bed.
Wigan defend well and deflect the efforts behind for a corner.
As the hosts clear their lines Godo races clear but can only force a corner for Wigan.
    Wigan 0-1 Man Utd
    64. United look to switch play with Onana.
His ball out to the wing is only about ten feet over his teammates head.
Man Utd fans must really be looking forward to AFCON.
    Wigan 0-1 Man Utd
    62. Wigan come forward with the home fans getting behind them.
Aasgaard looks to advance but a poor touch gives the ball away.
Man Utd counter and Mainoo shoots from outside the box but Tickle gets down into the bottom corner to make a good save. More

    Fans claim cup draw conspiracy
Tottenham fans targeted legendary ex-skipper Gary Mabbutt in an amusing conspiracy theory after he paired his old club with Manchester City in the FA Cup fourth-round draw.
Not even Mabbutt’s status as one of Spurs’ most popular players ever could save him from online teasing after he conjured a tough home clash against the 2023 Treble winners.
Tottenham have not won the Cup since Mabbutt hoisted it aloft following a 2-1 win over Nottingham Forest in the 1991 final.
At the time it meant Spurs had triumphed in the competition a record eight times.
Since then, however, Tottenham’s biggest rivals Arsenal have moved to the top of the list on 14, with Manchester United on 12.
And Liverpool, as well as Chelsea, now share third place in the table – as Spurs have been stuck on eight for 33 years.
Mabbutt’s history-making moment was not lost on Tottenham fans following Monday night’s draw.
One cheeky supporter posted: “Gary Mabbutt absolutely determined to carrying on being the last Spurs captain to lift the cup.”
    Man Utd into fourth round
Manchester United have booked a place in the next round of the FA Cup after beating Wigan 2-0.
Goals from Diogo Dalot and a Bruno Fernandes sealed a comfortable win for Erik ten Hag’s side.
    Elokobi delighted to draw Ipswich
Maidstone manager George Elokobi revealed his delight after his side drew Ipswich in the fourth round.
He said: “Ipswich is a fantastic club – it’s a huge club. In my opinion, they’re a Premier League club to be and rightly so.

He went on to play over 500 times for the Bundesliga giants, winning everything there was to win in the game.
    Beckenbauer – the early years
Born in Giesling, a working-class district of Munich, in September 1945, Beckenbauer grew up as a fan of 1860 Munich but joined the youth setup at the then unfashionable Bayern instead.
He was originally a centre-forward and made his debut for the club in 1964, when they were in West Germany’s second tier, as a left winger.
    Accusations against Beckenbauer
Beckenbauer’s post-playing life was marred by accusations of wrongdoing, with the then 71-year-old questioned by Swiss prosecutors in March 2017 over suspected corruption linked to the 2006 World Cup, which was held in Germany.
Beckenbauer headed the initial bid in 2000 and was part of the competition’s organising committee.

The half-time whistle has now blown in all of this afternoon’s third round ties, and here is the current state of play.

    Luton 0-0 Bolton
    Man City 2-0 Huddersfield
    Nott’m Forest 1-2 Blackpool
    Peterborough 0-1 Leeds
    Shrewsbury 0-0 Wrexham
    West Brom 3-0 Aldershot
    West Ham 1-0 Bristol City

League One Blackpool are 45 minutes away from a Premier League scalp, leading 2-1 at Nottingham Forest, while Bolton are currently holding Luton at Kenilworth Road.
But there are no shocks as far as holders Man City, West Ham and West Brom are concerned with all three sides leading in front of their own fans.
The fierce derby between League One Shrewsbury and League Two Wrexham is goalless at the break.

    West Ham 1-0 Bristol City
    44. Since scoring the first goal of the day, it hasn’t exactly gone according to plan for David Moyes.
The Hammers still lead their Championship opponents, but have lost both Lucas Paqueta and Konstantinos Mavropanos to injuries in the first half.
    Nott’m Forest 1-2 Blackpool – GOAL!
    39. The Premier League side have one back!
Argentines combine as a pinpoint cross from Gonzalo Montiel on the right is met powerfully by the head of Nicolas Dominguez.
No chance, Daniel Grimshaw! Back in with a chance, Nottingham Forest!

Man City 2-0 Huddersfield – GOAL!
    37. Have the floodgates opened at the Etihad?
Manchester City have a quickfire second after passing Huddersfield into submission in and around the box.
After some intricate one-touch stuff, Rico Lewis steers an effort towards the far post and Julian Alvarez finishes off.

    Peterborough 0-1 Leeds – GOAL!
    34. Leeds lead at London Road!
The Championship outfit catch Posh cold with a quick free-kick, and Ethan Ampadu is on hand to convert his first goal for the club.
Daniel Farke’s visitors are looking pretty in pink.

Man City 1-0 Huddersfield – GOAL!
    33. Huddersfield Town have performed admirably at the FA Cup holders this afternoon, but they’ve finally been undone by Pep Guardiola’s relentless machine.
It’s a typically-composed finish from Phil Foden, who is first on to Julian Alvarez’s deflected shot, eventually smashing his own into the roof of the net.
West Brom 3-0 Aldershot – GOAL!
    27. What a moment for Daryl Dike!
Back in the West Brom starting line-up after eight months out with an Achilles tendon injury, and he’s already among the goals.
The American striker powers in a superb volley just shy of the half hour mark, and it already means that there’s no way back for National League Aldershot.

    Nott’m Forest 0-2 Blackpool – GOAL!
    27. It’s two in two minutes for the Seasiders!
This time, Albie Morgan is the man in the right place this time, sliding in CJ Hamilton’s cross at the far post to double the League One side’s advantage.
The Nottingham Forest fans are not impressed with what they’re seeing. Cooper out? Oh, hang on…

    Nott’m Forest 0-1 Blackpool – GOAL!
    25. We have a potential upset on the cards at the City Ground where League One Blackpool have edged in front against the Premier League hosts.
And it’s the former Nottingham Forest man, Jordan Gabriel, who has grabbed the opener.
The defender took advantage of a poor clearance to loop his header past Odysseas Vlachodimos.

    Man City 0-0 Huddersfield
    18. No goals so far at the Etihad, but Pep Guardiola does have some cause for concern.
Manuel Akanji has been forced off early after being on the receiving end of a heavy challenge from Huddersfield debutant Alex Matos, on loan from Chelsea.
Matheus Nunes is on in place for the defender which is likely to see Rico Lewis shit from midfield to the back line.
West Brom 2-0 Aldershot – GOAL!
    15. About that hard uphill task… it’s a mountain now!
Jovan Malcolm capitalises on a mistake at the back, and races through to fire low past Jordi van Stappershoef.
It’s a thoroughly professional job so far from the Baggies, and Aldershot are unlikely to be joining fellow non-league club Maidstone in the fourth round draw.
West Brom 1-0 Aldershot – GOAL!
    7. From West Ham to West Brom.
Albion have an early lead against their non-league counterparts courtesy of Nathan Chalobah.
The former Fulham man wallops Tom Fellows’ cut-back into the top corner from 12 yards out, and a tough ask for the National Leaguers has just got that bit harder.
West Ham 1-0 Bristol City – GOAL!
    4. Fancy another cup run, West Ham fans?
This season’s stint in the FA Cup has got off to the best possible start with Jarrod Bowen bagging his 14th goal of the season in all competitions.
The England international latches on to Pablo Fornals’ clipped through ball, and cooly rounds Max O’Leary to score.

    Havertz up top of hosts
Jorginho’s inclusion in the Arsenal midfield this afternoon means that Kai Havertz will move into a more advanced role, joining Bukayo Saka and Reiss Nelson in the front three.
Meanwhile, it is expected that Declan Rice plays on the right of midfield with captain Martin Odegaard on the left.
Oleksandr Zinchenko has still not shaken off his injury so Jakub Kiwior continues at left-back.

    Klopp selects strong Liverpool line-up
Jurgen Klopp makes four changes for today’s cup tie at Arsenal, all of which are enforced.
Mo Salah and Wataru Endo are away with their countries at their respective international tournaments while Virgil van Dijk is ill and Dominik Szoboszlai is injured.
As a result, in come Jarell Quansah, Alexis Mac Allister, Harvey Elliott and Cody Gakpo.

    Liverpool (4-3-3): 1 Alisson; 66 Alexander-Arnold. 78 Quansah, 5 Konate, 2 Gomez; 19 Elliott, 10 Mac Allister, 17 Jones; 18 Gakpo, 9 Nunez, 7 Diaz

    Ramsdale returns for Arteta’s Arsenal

Arsenal relaunch No More Red campaign
Arsenal will wear an all-white home kit this afternoon for the first time in their history to raise awareness of the club’s campaign against knife crime and youth violence.
In association with Adidas, the Gunners’ No More Red initiative continues after its initial launch in January 2022.
It has previously seen Arsenal wear white in away games such as the FA Cup third round tie at Oxford this time last year, but doing so at the Emirates breaks new ground.
Today’s opponents Liverpool will support Arsenal’s campaign by wearing their changed strip of purple.

    Gunners evens to prevail
It’s just 15 days since nothing could separate these sides at Anfield, but the bookmakers believe that home advantage is enough to give Arsenal the edge this afternoon.
The Gunners are priced at evens to get the better of the team currently top of the Premier League with the draw that neither club wants chalked up at 13/5; Liverpool are a 12/5 shot.

    Arsenal win Evs
    Draw 13/5
    Liverpool win 12/5

Mind you, if you do believe that the draw could be a factor, and it may take a replay for one of these giants to progress then maybe the tie’s outright betting is the way to go.

    Arsenal to qualify 8/11
    Liverpool to qualify 11/10

Odds from Paddy Power correct at the time of post publication.
Hello and welcome to Arsenal vs Liverpool
