The judges score the Telford bout: 114-114, 117-111 and 117-112.
    One terrible card.
    Two fine ones.
    Well done Abass Baraou.
    Copy linkCopiedGlove story
Abass Baraou and Sam Eggington stop punching each other and hug.
Eggington grins like a Cheshire cat under a ginger beard.
Such a good boxing match that Eggington just could not control, thanks to Baraou’s freshness and enthusiasm.
Expecting a UD for Baraou and a knighthood for The Egg.
    Copy linkCopiedEggington vs Baraou R12
Bullish Baraou keeps trading in the pocket, even though he is coasting on the cards.
Eggington is still scything away at the German but he has not put a dent in the visitor.
Baraou is too tough and technical, too hungry and driven.
The Egg is a cult hero but this European title has slipped out of his grasp.
    Copy linkCopiedEggington vs Baraou R11
A couple of times now Eggington has looked broken and beat but he has rallied and returned fire.
Eggington only looks happy in the darkest trenches, putting out fires and swinging for a life saver.
The engine on the Smethwick man is scary. But Baraou is just too fresh and well formed.
    Copy linkCopiedEggington vs Baraou R11
In trademark style, Eggingtom tries to up the pace and the ante.
But Baraou is seasoned and skillful and spiteful.
The Egg is in trouble, shipping shots. The referee is taking a close look.
But then the Brit somehow hits back. What a man Eggington is.
    Copy linkCopiedEggington vs Baraou R10
Eggington’s corner do good work with his gashed eye.
But Baraou is so technically sound and disciplined he seems unlikely to blow it.
Baraou doesn’t have a mark on his face while the Egg’s is slowly swelling up into a pink pillow.
Eggington needs a Hail Mary miracle punch now.
    Copy linkCopiedEggington vs Baraou R10
Eggington’s trainer Jon Pegg tells his charge: “You were winning that round and threw it away by being a f***ing idiot”.
he’s not wrong, replays show the Brummie sruck his head up and laughed after getting clipped by the first right hand.
Eggington in trouble now, a nasty gash looking almost as bad as the scorecards.
    A bloody mess.
    Copy linkCopiedEggington vs Baraou R9
A short left hook from the Brummie lands but does not hurt Baraou.
Eggington turns his man on the ropes and slashes at him further.
But Baraou roars back with a dozen right hands and hacks cuts into Eggington’s eyes.
A horrible turn for Eggington. Baraou has snatched certain victory from the jaws of a likely decision.
    Copy linkCopiedEggington vs Baraou R8
Excellent combination from Baraou ends with an uppercut and hook that wobble Eggington’s head back and sideways.
The Brummie is jabbing well and controlling the pace but Baraou’s punches have been more precise and eyecatching.
The contest feels like it’s slipping away now, with the German maybe 6-2 up.
    Copy linkCopiedEggington vs Baraou R7
Another tight and close round but probably another one Baraou can claim because of his footwork and superior style.
Eggington’s Mexican-like pressure hasn’t been in top gear tonight so Bararou has been able to nick minutes and rounds by looking good.
It still feels like the Egg needs to crack one big shot to turn the tide.
    It’s probably 5-2 now.
    Copy linkCopiedEggington vs Baraou R6
Baraou probably nicked the fifth but he is having a rest now.
A bit morea action from the Egg and he could take this one on the scorecards.
Baraou’s bouncing and gliding around the edge look nice but he’s miles out of range and almost showboating.
The Egg keeps piling on the pressure but is not getting too much success.
    Copy linkCopiedEggington vs Baraou R5
Thrilling end to the fifth as both men land head shots.
Eggington even scores to the Baraou body.
Eggington might have a small cut opening on the outside corner of his left eye,
    Copy linkCopiedEggington vs Baraou R5
Baraou is mean at the start of the fifth, backing Eggington into a corner and slashing at him.
Egg is happy in the pocket and firing back but one flush shot could end it early.
Eggington edges out of the neutral corner and chips back at the travelling favourite.
    Copy linkCopiedEggington vs Baraou R4
Eggington has jabbed and pressured his way back into the contest as Baraou takes a round off.
Baraou has not been hurt or buzzed but Eggington has touched him enough to make that 2-2.
We need to see Baraou’s tough German chin checked by an Eggington bomb.
    Copy linkCopiedEggington vs Baraou R3
Baraou lands a thudding right hand that costs Eggington his gumshield and probably the round.
The German is starting to show his amateur skills while the Egg is relying on his never-say-die grit.
It feels like 2-1 to Baraou now but Eggington might have just taken Baraou’s best right hand and brushed it off.
    Copy linkCopiedEggington vs Baraou R3
Baraou’s foot and head movement are a level above but the Egg has seen it all before.
The Englishman takes the bout eyebrow-to-eyebrow and calls for an exchange of hooks and uppercuts.
Baraou and all of his amateur pedigree want this at distance, with skill and style. But the Savage is here for a battle.
    Copy linkCopiedEggington vs Baraou R2
The Egg takes takes a couple too many straight shots but is not hurt.
Baraou is more menacing in this round, but Eggington slips and blocks a host of efforts.
Baraou should have bagged that one with the judges.
It feels like 1-1 after the opening two.
    Copy linkCopiedEggington vs Baraou R1
Both super-welters jab to head and body, Eggington towers over the German.
Baraou does some good work at close quarters, with The Savage pinned back on the ropes.
But Eggington tucks up smartly and boxes his way out of danger.
Eggington connects with a right hook right on the bell that might have won him the round.
    Copy linkCopiedBrotherly glove
Daniel Eggington is currently traversing the Rio Negro, across three dangerous South American countries, so Sam wants him to get his props.
He told us: “He makes what I do look like an absolute doddle, people should be writing articles and watching documentaries about him, not me.
“People even rave about the bloke off Eastenders – Grant Mitchell – going to dangerous foreign countries, but he travels with about 15 bodyguards and a TV crew, while my brother is out there with a laptop and a drone.
“Right now I am getting ready for 12 rounds on Channel 5, he is spending three months traversing the Rio Negro, through uncharted parts of Colombia, Brazil and Venezuela, that’s proper actual danger.”
    Copy linkCopiedRound trip
Sam Eggington preferred to celebrate brother Daniel’s brave adventures rather than his own.
When SunSport asked him about his globetrotting brother, he explained: “I find it weird that people want to interview me about doing a sport millions of people around the world do every day, when my brother is doing something that only a few people in history have ever done.
“I’m in a great gym, I box on TV, people cheer me on and I get paid for it. My brother goes to the deepest darkest places left on earth, living with tribes, risking his life because he loves animals and adventure.
“Barring a couple of great sponsors – who help keep his family at home almost calm – he does it at all his own cost.”

Lutic traps Kelly on the ropes and unloads. Kelly looks shellshocked. The referee appears close to stepping in and stopping it.

Ryan Kelly must have expected a little step-up fight, a chance to showcase his skills.
Instead he has been dragged into the trenches.
Lutic is a tough and proud man, swinging for the rafters.
Fans are being treated to a brilliant battle.

Manchester United set up a crunch FA Cup quarter-final clash against rivals Liverpool after a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.
A rather hapless encounter looked set to go to extra-time, and perhaps penalties, but Casemiro ended Forest’s hopes of a third last-eight encounter in four years with a late winner.
The Red Devils’ skipper Bruno Fernandes whipped in a clever free-kick from the left and the Brazil international got to the ball before heading it past Matt Turner.
A long VAR check followed as there was suspicion Raphael Varane was blocking defenders from marking the goalscorer from an offside position.
However, the referees gave Erik ten Hag’s men the all clear to bid for the one piece of silverware they could realistically win this season.

Alan Shearer laid into Manchester United ace Marcus Rashford in an astonishing 40-second rant on live TV.
One particular moment enraged Shearer as a long ball was played into Rashford’s feet and the £300,000-a-week ace immediately got closed down by Nottingham Forest ace Felipe.
But instead of attempting to hold the ball up, the forward immediately threw himself to the ground.
The referee was not buying it and let play continue, while the England international immediately threw his arms up before trudging away from the action with his head faced the ground.
Come on Marcus, get up, stop waving your arms around.
You’ve got to do better, too easy that. The ball’s in front of you against the defender, you’ve got to hold it for your teammates.
I don’t like his body language at times, trying to send a message to fans, ‘it’s not my fault’.

    Copy linkCopiedIs Antony Fer real?
Manchester United fans spotted Sir Alex Ferguson’s reaction to Antony during their FA Cup clash with Nottingham Forest.
United captain Bruno Fernandes attempted to switch the play during the first half at the City Ground as he raked a long ball over towards the winger on the far touchline.
But the effort was overhit and the Brazil international failed to scamper to reach it before it ran out of play.
The camera zoomed in on the 24-year-old’s reaction as he praised Fernandes for the pass.
It then cut to legendary Man Utd boss Ferguson who proceeded to exchange a few words with new club chief Sir Dave Brailsford.
Both Sir Alex and Brailsford had a chuckle to themselves, before turning their attention back towards the action on the pitch.
Fans say ‘even Sir Alex Ferguson is tired of Antony’ after spotting Man Utd legend’s reaction to FA Cup blunder
    Copy linkCopiedCasemiro stands out
Manchester United ace Casemiro put together another impressive performance in midield.
The Brazil international also scored the winner against Nottingham Forest in the 89th minute.
And as per the heat map below, the 32-year-old was ever present against Nottingham Forest.

Copy linkCopiedNottingham Forest vs Man Utd analysis
It might sound like a proper “glory, glory Man United” moment – an 89th-minute winner to settle a tense FA Cup tie.
But the decisive goal from Casemiro had an element of bizarre fluke, after another horribly flat performance from Erik ten Hag’s side.
A free-kick from Bruno Fernandes out by the left-hand touchline bounced in front of goal, Casemiro added the slightest of touches with his head and, after a lengthy VAR check for offside, United were limping into the quarter-finals.
At least they avoided the potential nightmare scenario of a second defeat at the City Ground in the space of two months and confirmation of a trophyless season.
But the bold ambitions of Sir Jim Ratcliffe, to ‘knock Manchester City and Liverpool off their perch’ looked light years away here.

The striker stays down but neither the referee nor VAR saw any wrong doing with that challenge.

    76. Chelsea should have more attacking threat in the final third with Cole Palmer on the pitch now.
That said, he hasn’t been amongst the goals of late.
We are into the final quarter of an hour now, the next goal could be the one that decides this game.

Mateo Joseph is a youngster oozing confidence in front of a very boisterous away end here at Stamford Bridge.
He hadn’t scored a senior goal before tonight and now he has two.
The Spanish 20-year-old has been redhot all evening, but so has Jaidon Anthony for Leeds who whipped an inch-perfect cross on Joseph’s plate for 2-1.
Chelsea were once again to blame for shoddy defending. They seem to still lack identity, shape and structure in what they do. How the tables have turned.

He whips the ball towards the back post but it is too deep for anyone to get on the end of it.
Leeds recycle the ball and James whips another cross in and the ball drops to Jospeh as Chalobah fails to head it.
The striker seemed to not be expecting it and could not react quickly enough to get a shot off.

The Blues are just chasing shadows most of the time.

His pass is wayward and gifts possession back to the visitors.

While Blackburn boss told MOTD he was ‘extremely proud’ of the efforts of his side on the night.
He said: “I am extremely proud of the players. It was a group effort. If we are going to be successful at anything we do this year it is about the squad of players.
“That was our sixth game in 18 days so the squad was important tonight and everyone was at it.
“We are improving with every game we played and that was probably the best we played with the ball.”
    Copy linkCopied’Relief’
Newcastle boss Eddie Howe admits being relieved and thrilled that his side managed to overcome Blackburn to progress tonight.
He told BBC’s Match Of The Day: “I think there is only one emotion and that is relief. I think it was a hard-fought cup tie. Both sides gave everything to get the win and didn’t give an inch but we are delighted to be in the hat for the next round.
“They packed the backline and packed the midfield so it was difficult for us to penetrate them. It could have been better but we got that first goal and it was a really well-worked goal.
“The lads kept their heads and remained calm and I think every penalty was taken well.
“I think when you see the season we have had and the situation we are in, this was never going to be an easy cup tie. Martin [Dubravka] made some great saves that we needed him to make and we also missed some golden opportunities in the final third.
“The most important thing is that our season cracks on and we are thrilled to get through to the next round.”

Eddie Howe’s job prospects are just about safe for a little while longer yet.
Honking Newcastle stunk out Ewood Park but they are now three wins away from that elusive first domestic trophy since 1955.
They may be in the hat thanks to penalties hero Martin Dubravka, but all is not well.
With their league form tanking, the Magpies’ season is still flickering.
Yet Blackburn, with just one Championship win in 13, gave them one hell of a fright and will be kicking themselves they didn’t knock the Saudi-funded Tynesiders out.
Barring Dubravka, the Geordies were rotten here and Howe desperately needs to find the answers if he wants to remain in post long-term.

    Copy linkCopiedCity were ‘pretty good’
Rob Edwards said his side were punished for being too bold in the game and said City’s fourth was a killer in their comeback push.
He told ITV: “Manchester City were pretty good, weren’t they? We came up against a brilliant team and brilliant individuals who are well coached.
“We are going to evolve and hopefully get better. We are not going to change even though tonight we left ourselves exposed at times. At 3-2 we are in the game. The fourth one was obviously a bit of a killer.
“We could have been a bit better. We are quite bold. Sometimes when you come up against that kind of opposition you get a bit of a doing.”
    Copy linkCopiedGreal pain
Jack Grealish was very emotional after his fresh injury blow forced him off before half time at Luton earlier.
He was consoled by team mates and staff as he trudged off to be replaced by Jeremy Doku.
Grealish was seen showing his appreciation to the travelling City fans as he made his way across to the tunnel.
Pep Guardiola gave an update after the match, revealing: “I didn’t speak to the doctor but I think it is the groin, maybe quite similar.
“He felt really really good but unfortunately he got injured. It’s been a tough season for him, he has to recover well.”

    Copy linkCopiedGoal hero
Newcastle’s hero Martin Dubravka told Match Of The Day
He said: “It was a very difficult match. A lot of chances on both sides and all of a sudden we had penalties.
“It is a lottery but I am glad I could help the team.
“I think we were well prepared [for the shootout]. We analyse everything and try to bring it on the pitch. I need to mention the goalkeeper coaches who make it much easier for me.
“I hope it will lift our confidence. We needed a lift after the Arsenal game and we created a lot of chances. We have to take the positives and we are in the next round and we are looking forward to it.”
    Copy linkCopiedEnzo thrilled
Leicester boss Enzo Maresca is thrilled with his side’s progression and their performance tonight but called on his side to start taking their chances.
Following their extra time win, he said: “We had to shoot 25 times before this goal and the other 24 were in the stands.
“The goal was very good and he has to improve many things but we are happy with him.
“The performance was very good. Even the last two defeats the performance has been fantastic in both games, at the end it is a matter of taking chances. We missed many tonight.
“In the end we won with Abdul’s goal. I am very happy because we made nine changes.”

Alan Shearer said Newcastle’s players and staff have Martin Dubravka to thank after reaching the quarters tonight.
The keeper made several top saves during normal time before two saves in the shootout.
He told BBC: “I feel for Blackburn. Newcastle owe Martin Dubravka a lot, he’s made a lot of good saves tonight and he made two saves in the shootout.
“They owe him a huge debt. They are in the next round because of him.
“It is a massive result for Newcastle and Eddie Howe. They needed this. It’s pretty worrying that it didn’t look like they had energy, but that might galvanise them and give them a bit of hope. It is a huge, huge win.
“They’ve had some really tough draws in the Cups this year, so who knows?”

Now, that was great drama at Ewood Park.
But should Blackburn’s goal have stood?
Eagle-eyed fans have spotted an infringement which looks like the goal should have been ruled out late in the game.

    Copy linkCopiedPep reacts
Pep Guardiola has revealed Jack Grealish looks to have picked up a recurrence of a groin strain which recently kept him out.
He also praised the connection between KDB and Haaland, telling ITV: “What can I say? Really, really good. Erling [Haaland] is on fire and Kevin [de Bruyne]…the connection was perfect. It was a really good game and we are in the quarter-finals.
“Kevin needs players like Erling and Erling needs players like Kevin. We are not here without the other guys. A lot of credit for everyone.
“We won our last two games 1-0 and against Chelsea we played good in the second half but couldn’t win. One game at a time. The FA Cup is a really nice competition. We are one game away to go to Wembley again.”

Erling Haaland made history as he scored five goals in Manchester City’s 6-2 FA Cup win over Luton.
Kevin De Bruyne also helped himself to four assists in the incredible match.
But it was Haaland who entered the record books as he became the first Man City player since 1926 to score five goals in an FA Cup game.
Frank Roberts was the City ace who nearly 100 years ago hit five in an 11-4 thrashing of Crystal Palace.
Barely three minutes had passed when De Bruyne, having received a clever pass from Matheus Nunes, had far too much time to pick out the lurking Haaland who got in front of Teden Mengi to score from close range.
Following a huge punt from Stefan Ortega, Haaland and De Bruyne combined again with the City striker sticking a shot through the legs of Tim Krul.

West Ham 4 Brentford 2: Bowen scores stunning hat-trick to boost England hopes as Maupay sparks yet another row

JARROD BOWEN is on fire this season for West Ham – and he must hope England boss Gareth Southgate appreciates that.A wonderful hat-trick by red-hot Bowen on a chilly evening ensured the Hammers beat Brentford for the first time in the Premier League.

It was an even game but West Ham were more ruthless in front of goal
Bowen scored with all three of his shots against Brentford
Bowen’s stats were thoroughly impressive against Brentford
With 14 league goals this term, this is his best-ever scoring record across five seasons in the top flight.
A reminder that Bowen would bring plenty of energy, positivity and productivity to the England midfield set-up regardless of the illustrious competition he is up against.
And while he is expected to be called up for next month’s Three Lions squad to face Brazil and Belgium, the longer-term goal is going to the Euro 2024 finals.
It really did sting that he had to watch the 2022 Qatar World Cup finals from his sofa.
Whatever Southgate may think, Bowen, 27, is a superstar in the eyes of his boss David Moyes, who temporarily avoids the fans backlash he had in the previous two matches.
The Scotsman, 60, may have a new contract on the table but despite the Europa Conference League success, he has lost the support of the West Ham hardcore.
The banks and banks of empty seats told its own story as many voted with their feet.
Yet Moyes could not have hoped for a better beginning here, boosted by sloppy Brentford defending.

After a tackle on Brentford’s Frank Onyeka in midfield went unpunished, Lucas Paqueta found James Ward-Prowse, who then found Emerson.
The ball by the Italian full-back was controlled by Bowen with his right foot and then smashed home with his left – it was a wonderful quick-fire combination.
Fuming West Ham assistant Kevin Nolan has to be held back from Neal Maupay in tunnel row
Within the next two minutes, Dani Dyer’s other half doubled his tally as Brentford were punished for conceding possession.
Czech Vladimir Coufal supplied the delivery from the right and Bowen slotted home with an accomplished left-footed finish.
Bees forward Neal Maupay ensured West Ham would not celebrate a clean sheet when he pulled a goal back, latching on to an excellent through-ball by Keane Lewis-Potter.
Maupay is known for being a wind-up merchant and he was at it again, clashing with Hammers assistant coach Kevin Nolan before the start of the second half.
It was claimed on TV that Maupay had been outside the referee’s room and Nolan took exception to that.
At least Maupay offered more fight than teammate Ivan Toney, who might be on his way back into the professional game after his long betting ban, but was a peripheral figure.
Bowen, West Ham’s European hero, capped a superb evening on 63 minutes when he headed home a Kudus cross unmarked from six yards out.
Things got even better six minutes later when Emerson struck the ball beautifully with his left foot from distance – one of the club’s best goals the season.
Brentford, who cursed West Ham goalkeeper Alphonse Areola for his brilliant saves from Onyeka and Toney, scored late on through Yoane Wissa, which survived a VAR offside check.
But following a fifth defeat in six matches, they are firmly in the relegation mix, especially after Everton’s points reprieve.

Liverpool and Chelsea are goalless at half-time in the Carabao Cup Final at Wembley.
However, both sets of teams feel they have reason to protest the outcome of the first half.
The Reds’ massive injury list grew even bigger as Ryan Gravenberch was stretchered off with an ankle injury after Moises Caicedo appeared to have stepped and twisted the Dutchman’s foot.
The Blues, on the other hand, were denied an opener after Raheem Sterling hit the back of the net.
However, the referee and VAR deemed Nicolas Jackson was offside in the build-up down the right where he met a ball by Conor Gallagher in midfield before the Senegal international found Sterling at the far post.
Replays show it was a very close call and if Jackson was offside then it was down to mere millimetres.

For Arsenal and Mikel Arteta, revenge was a dish best served cold on a Saturday night in February.
When Newcastle ended the Gunners’ unbeaten start in controversial fashion at St James’ Park nearly four months earlier, Arteta had a meltdown.
This time his team coolly and clinically dispatched Eddie Howe’s desperately limited side and kept their title challenge right on the boil.
With delicious irony Arsenal were helped on their way by the goal-line technology they felt had let them down in the North East.
On that occasion, the cameras could not conclusively show that the ball had gone out of play in the build-up to Anthony Gordon’s winner.
This time there was no doubt that Sven Botman had inadvertently given the Gunners the lead.

Tonight’s SunSport man of the match award goes to Jorginho.
He controlled the tempo of the game from start to (almost) finish, and was a general in the Arsenal midfield.
