So now we know: it will be Real Madrid that take on Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League final next month.
And while no Premier League clubs made it as far as this season’s semis, there will be one Englishman involved in June’s Wembley showpiece.
Jude Bellingham has lived the dream this past 12 months since moving to Spain, and now he’s 90 minutes away from winning the biggest prize in the European game – against the German club he left to join Los Blancos.
Expect more dreams to be made, more drama to the end, and more broken hearts. We can’t wait.
Until then, thanks for joining us, and goodbye.

Before we call time on a dramatic night, let’s relive the thrills and spills from the Bernabeu with Andy Dillon’s match report of Real Madrid’s 2-1 win against Bayern Munich. I dare say it’s a piece that required one or two rewrites.
Jude Bellingham will be joining the world’s most illustrious team on a grubby industrial estate in North West London in a bid to achieve a footballing dream. Bellingham is on his way to Wembley to face Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League final on June 1 in the hope of capping an already memorable year by lifting the biggest prize in club football.Andy DillonThe Sun

Copy linkCopiedTuchel fumes at stoppage time decision
An extremely frustrated Thomas Tuchel revealed that the linesman had apologised to him after the game for a late offside call that denied Bayern an injury time equaliser.
The Polish official raised his flag as the visitors threw the kitchen sink at Real Madrid in search of a goal, subsequently leading to a Konrad Laimer effort being ruled out.
Law changes since the implementation of VAR has meant that close calls should not be called as offside until the attaching phase has broken down, but the officials combined to stop play just before the ball ended up in the Real Madrid net.
Later replays showed that the offside decision was a very tight, and would have likely needed detailed video analysis.
We scored one and it’s a disastrous decision from the linesman and the referee. It feels like a betrayal in the end because of that decision. The linesman said sorry, but that does not help. At this level to raise the flag for a close position in the last minute, and the referee too – he does not have to whistle. He sees we win the second ball, he sees that we get the shot away, and to whistle is a very, very bad decision. It’s against the rules, and it’s a disaster from both of them. It’s tough to swallow.Thomas TuchelTNT Sports

Copy linkCopiedReal digging deep for Don Carlo
Jude Bellingham said at full time that this Real Madrid never know when they are beaten – and they have proved in time and time again under Carlo Ancelotti this season.
In the Champions League alone this campaign, Don Carlo’s Real have won four matches in which they have conceded the opening goal.
It is the most wins from behind that any club has managed in the competition since 2016-17.
Seven years ago, it was also Real making a habit of fighting back, and that year their never-say-die attitude helped them win the trophy.
Copy linkCopiedHargreaves slams Tuchel’s late subs
Former Bayern Munich ace Owen Hargreaves has hit out at the late substitutions from Thomas Tuchel that saw Harry Kane replaced.
Tuchel also took off Jamal Musiala in the 85th minute as Eric Choupo-Moting and Thomas Muller were brought on.
The Bayern coach had already subbed off Leroy Sane, having lost Serge Gnabry to injury in the first half, leaving the German giants light and disjointed in attack.
I’ll tell you what was unexpected, Harry Kane going off the pitch. That is one of the biggest subs I’ve ever seen in a game of that magnitude. To take off a guy who has scored 44 goals, who is the most durable players, and you bring on another striker in Choupo-Moting… you cannot take him off. There’s five minutes left of the game, another ten of stoppage time – that’s 15 minutes, and I said Real were going to score, and then what? I love Thomas Tuchel, but I don’t know why he made that call. They had it in their hands and let it go. You cannot make those subs.Owen HargreavesTNT Sports
Copy linkCopiedTwo good four Bayern Munich
Real Madrid hero Joselu scored two goals off the bench despite only getting the call from the bench in the 81st minute.
And even more startling is the fact that the Germany-born Spanish only had four touches during his time on the pitch.
It’s just that two of them ended up in the goals that fired Real to the Champions League final.

Copy linkCopiedLos Blancos through to final 18
Real Madrid’s dramatic late win this evening means they will face Borussia Dortmund in what will be their 18th final of either the European Cup or Champions League.
It is an astonishing figure, and seven more than the next-best of 11 finals managed by AC Milan and Bayern Munich.
Remarkably, however, this season’s showpiece on June 1st will be Los Blancos’ first European final to be played at Wembley Stadium.
Copy linkCopiedEmotional Jude hails Joselu impact
Jude Bellingham will end his incredible first season in Madrid with a Champions League final against former club Borussia Dortmund.
And at the end of an astonishing ending, the youngster still found the composure and grace to pay tribute to goalscoring hero Joselu and the Bernabeu fans.
There have been a lot of times we have looked dead and buried, but we have that mentality of never say die. And Joselu deserves it all, he has been an amazing squad member this season. He won’t get much sleep tonight and I’m sure he’ll be rubbish in training tomorrow. There is a reason we turn around so many games, it’s because of these [fans]. They give you an energy you can’t get from anything else.Jude BellinghamTNT Sports

Szymon Marcniak’s final whistle sparks more wild celebrations inside the Bernabeu from those in white as the distraught Bayern players crash to the turf.
What an astonishing ending to two legs that repeatedly swung one way and then the other, and it will be Real that face Borussia Dortmund in the final.

90+14. Order has been restored on the pitch – apart from Thomas Muller, who looks like he’s going to explode with rage.
But time is almost up. Real Madrid are almost there.
Copy linkCopiedReal Madrid 2-1 Bayern (Agg: 4-3)
90+12. Wow! This semi-final just couldn’t end without some further controversy!
A late, long ball is pumped up in the direction of makeshift forward Matthijs De Light, whose presence leads to Antonio Rudiger nodding it back into the path of Thomas Muller.
At that point, and with the attack still alive, the linesman sticks his flag up for offside just as Muller nudges it to Konrad Laimer to sweep home clinically.
Replays immediately show that the call was very, very close, and there is no way that the flag should have gone up in that scenario.
Bayern’s players and staff are absolutely livid, and now the officials are struggling to keep control.

Copy linkCopiedReal Madrid 2-1 Bayern (Agg: 4-3)
90+7. Thomas Tuchel is urging his players to calm down, and telling them there is time still to play.
But this is a Bayern team no longer with Kane, Sane, Musiala or Gnabry on the pitch, and – sad to say – they look out of ideas.
Copy linkCopiedReal Madrid 2-1 Bayern (Agg: 4-3)

    The Bernabeu is jumping!

    90+1. It’s absolutely astonishing!
From 1-0 down with two minutes remaining, Real Madrid are suddenly 2-1 ahead inside the first minute of stoppage time – and former Stoke City flop Joselu has got them both!
The substitute’s tap-in is initially ruled out for offside after he converts Antonio Rudiger’s square ball, but word quickly comes through that VAR want a further look.
The stills look offside at first glance but on closer inspection there really is not much in it at all…
The Real Madrid players wait. The Real Madrid fans wait. The Real Madrid bench wait.
Then signal is given that the goal should stand, and all hell breaks loose within the Bernabeu.

    88. This Champions League semi-final is level once again!
Manuel Neuer has been the Bayern Munich hero all night, but he’s made a disastrous mistake right at the end.
There was little concern when Vinicius Jr lined up another speculative effort from the corner of the penalty area, but the German goalkeeper spilled it under no pressure at the feet of substitute Joselu.
The former Stoke City and Newcastle forward – on loan at Real from Espanyol and just one – reacted in the right place to pounce and convert from close range.
And now we’re heading for extra-time – or are we?

    84. Two more changes for the visitors, and it’s the end of the night for both Harry Kane and Jamal Musiala.
It’s a bold move from Tuchel in case this tie ends up going to extra-time, but now it’s the turn of Thomas Muller and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting.
Moments earlier, Real had made two subs of their own with Joselu and Brahim Diaz on for Federico Valverde and Rodrygo respectively.

Borussia Dortmund pulled off a superb Champions League upset to reach the final for the first time in 11 years.
They will be back at Wembley on Saturday 1 June, where they lost to Bayern Munich in 2013, after downing Paris Saint-Germain and ruining Kylian Mbappe’s farewell in France as Jadon Sancho outshone the French superstar again.
Manchester United fans watching on will have felt further humiliation after Monday’s mauling at Crystal Palace watching Sancho cruise into a Champions League final.
Mats Hummels headed home the only goal as Edin Terzic’s side built on the hard-fought first leg win to dump PSG out and extend their long wait for European success by at least another year.
PSG boss Luis Enrique had revved up the home support while the French press assumed a comeback would be straightforward.
Their ultras in the Virage Auteuil unveiled an elaborate banner ahead of kick off, depicting a team bus smashing through Dortmund’s Yellow Wall above the message: “We are the army of PSG and nothing can stop us.”

    Copy linkCopiedWho’ll join them?
The players will no doubt celebrate tonight – and so they should.
And they’ll almost definitely tune in for tomorrow’s second leg.
Real Madrid and Bayern Munich meet at the Bernabeu level at 2-2 from the final.
They now know what’s at stake if they win that tomorrow.

Dortmund were in the Group of Death.
And labelled the whipping boys up against PSG, Milan and Newcastle.
They topped that group having been 50/1 to win the tournament at that time.
Now they’ve shut out PSG in the semi finals over two legs to set up a big final.

Just to further add to his incredible evening, Mats Hummels joins the history books with that goal.
That goal puts him as the third oldest goalscorer in a semi final Champions League tie.
Only Ryan Giggs (37y 148d) and Edin Dzeko (37y 54d) were older.
    Copy linkCopiedNo doubts
Mats Hummels has been named tonight’s Player Of The Match.
    No real doubts about that.

    Copy linkCopiedWhere next for PSG?
It remains a trophy they’re desperate to win.
They’ve thrown all sorts at it to achieve European success.
But now without Kylian Mbappe – who admittedly was pretty hopeless in both legs of the tie – that looks like a dream that will have to wait for quite some time yet.

    Copy linkCopiedShot count
PSG recorded an incredible 45 shots across the two legs.
    And scored zero goals.

Crystal Palace thrashed Manchester United and delivered a hammer blow to their European qualification hopes.
Palace dominated United thanks to a brace by Michael Olise and goals by Jean-Philippe Mateta as well as Tyrick Mitchell.
United were hapless throughout the encounter and failed to cause any threat to the Eagles who completed a league double over their opponents in a single season.

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag took responsibility for the thrashing at Crystal Palace and insists he will “keep fighting” despite his uncertain future at Old Trafford.
It’s clear, it’s obvious, this is underperforming. We didn’t act how we wanted to and it’s not good enough. We are very disappointed. Our fans were behind us and we should have kept fighting like the fans did.
It’s a goal that shouldn’t happen because we really give clear instructions how we should defend this. They didn’t bring it on the pitch. We got hammered.
There was one issue but also on the left side, there were two players doubling up on one player. That’s very poor defending.
There are always reasons, everyone sees our backline – we have huge problems. At the end of the day, we have to deal with it and we should have done better.
I will keep fighting. I prepared the team in the best way I could do. It was not good enough, I have to take responsibility for that but I will find energy and prepare them for Sunday’s game.”
Absolutely [I’m the right man for the job]. If the right players are available, we have a good squad. We miss almost the whole backline and then we have problems.Erik ten HagSky Sports

Manchester United are now eighth in the Premier League table with a game in hand and two points away from sixth place which is the highest they can go.

Eric Cantona’s name was belted out by Manchester United fans, nearly 30 years on from his infamous kung-fu kick on a Crystal Palace fan.
But it was another enigmatic Frenchman who dealt a devastating blow to the European hopes of Cantona’s old side – and floundering Erik ten Hag’s job prospects.
Michael Olise has a habit of ice-cool, hard-to-read celebrations, just like collar-up King Eric did all those years ago.
The mercurial 22-year-old was motionless and emotionless after netting a fabulous, point-saving free-kick deep into stoppage time in this fixture last season.
This term, after a sublime early opener, there was a little more to his routine as he opted to point one finger to his lips, another to his right ear and closed his eyes.
It depicted a zen-like calm and control – in contrast to the Keystone Cops he was facing.
No wonder United have Olise, who has seven Under-21 caps for France but could still play for England, high up on their summer shopping list.
Though when you watch him play with such grace like he did here, and how grim United were, you wonder why he would even consider trading places.

    More below:

Crystal Palace humiliated Manchester United with a dominant performance at Selhurst Park.
Palace opened the scoring after just 12 minutes when Michael Olise picked up a pass by Daniel Munoz, dribbled past Casemiro like he wasn’t even there and beat Andre Onana with a clinical shot from the edge of the box.
United thought they got an equaliser when Casemiro met a corner-kick by Christian Eriksen and his awkward header went past a careless Dean Henderson but referee deemed the Eagles’ goalkeeper was fouled by Rasmus Hojlund in the build-up.
Palace doubled their lead five minutes before half-time when Chris Richards played Jean-Philippe Mateta through down the left and the striker dribbled past Jonny Evans like it was nothing before hitting a powerful shot past Onana.
The Red Devils failed to pick up the tempo in the second half and so the hosts made it three in the 58th minute when a cross by Adam Wharton found Joachim Andersen who then switched to the incoming Tyrick Mitchell to finish from close range.
The Manchester giants thought they had another goal but Casemiro’s header from another set-piece by Eriksen was chalked off as the Brazilian was caught offside.
And finally Olise completed Palace’s triumph after 66 minutes when Munoz dispossessed Casemiro down the right and passed to Olise whose long-range shot beat a helpless Onana.

Naoya Inoue vs Luis Nery LIVE RESULTS: Latest updates from huge super-bantamweight title fight in Tokyo

NAOYA INOUE takes on Luis Nery today in a huge undisputed super-bantamweight title clash in Tokyo. The Monster is undefeated and one of the top pound-for-pound talents in all of boxing while Nery is a former world champion – so get ready for what should be a cracker of a fight.
    Main event ring-walks: 12.35pm BST
    Stream/TV: Sky Sports Action
    Rounds 4-6
After a word from his team, Moloney ups it early in round four and lands a good jab.
But Takei is showing maturity for such an inexperienced boxer, picking him moments well and had his rival into a corner.
Instructions can be heard clearly from Moloney’s corner – desperate for him to get his right hand involved in the fifth round – but he is not really doing it.
Finally, in round six Moloney finds some better shots and it’s his best round so far apart from being hit with a right hook at the end.
    Copy linkCopiedRounds 1-3
A positive start for Takei in the opening round – but he is warned about low blows.
And he doesn’t learn his lesson in the second as he again continues with low punches.
The referee has seen enough and slaps Takei with a point penalty to the fighter’s frustration.
In the third, Takei is dominating and a heavy right hand knocked Moloney off balance.
Body shots are working and the man nicknamed Mayhem finds himself in a spot of bother.

Aussie fighter Jason Moloney is next up in the ring as he looks to retain his WBO bantamweight strap.
Yoshiki Takei is his opponent and the home favourite has the full support of the crowd at the Tokyo Dome.
This is just the Japanese star’s eight professional boxing bout and he was formally a kickboxing champion.

In the next undercard fight, Takuma Inoue, takes to the ring to fight Sho Ishida.
But the Inoue takeover in Tokyo is not off to a good start.
Takuma has fallen to the canvas in the first round.
A light jab from Ishida knocks him to the floor and catches Takuma off guard.
He is quickly back on his feet looking a little confused as to how that shot saw him fall over.

The undercard action has begun and the first result is in.
Seigo Yuri Akui has beaten Taku Kuwahara via unanimous decision.
It was his first fight while defending his WBA Flyweight belt.

Naoya Inoue hasn’t been in action since a dominant stoppage win over Marlon Tapales in December 2023.
His win came after four-weight world champ Stephen Fulton in a brutal bout in July 2023.
Now he returns to face former two-weight world champion Nery
Nery has previously fought in Japan against Shinsuke Yamanaka, beating him via TKO in the fourth round.
The Mexican failed a drug test after the fight but it was later ruled to be due to contaminated food.
Nery re-matched and beat Yamanaka but failed to make weight for the bout and was subsequently banned from fighting in Japan.
He’s now back to fight in the Land of the Rising Sun, however, but this time he’s up against arguably their greatest ever fighter in Inoue.

Naoya Inoue faces Luis Nery at the Tokyo Dome today.
Nicknamed “The Monster”, the Japanese fighter is looking to extend his undefeated professional record.
And he defends his WBC, WBO, IBF and WBA featherweight titles.
But Mexico’s Nery is set to put up a huge challenge with his impressive 35-1 record.

Brighton 1 Aston Villa 0: Joao Pedro’s late winner gifts Tottenham lifeline in race for fourth Champions League spot

JOAO PEDRO’S late penalty put a dent in Aston Villa’s Champions League push. The Brazilian forward hit his 20th goal of the season meaning Unai Emery’s could not qualify for the elusive competition today if Spurs lost at Liverpool.Joao Pedro celebrates after scoring his 20th of the seasonCredit: ReutersHis penalty was saved by Aston Villa’s Robin Olsen but he headed home the reboundCredit: GettyThis game was a battle between Brighton hero Simon Adingra and Villa’s stand-in goalkeeper Robin Olsen, who had big boots to fill. The visitors had been left with a gaping Emi Martinez shaped hole after the Argentine goalkeeper was ruled out due a hamstring injury. Adingra was at the beating heart of anything promising for Brighton, including winning the 87th minute penalty after being clipped by Ezri Konsa. But in homage to Martinez, Olsen actually SAVED the penalty but it popped out perfectly for Pedro to head home the rebound.Villa had conceded six goals in two games without Martinez but Olsen stepped up to the plate with a string of huge saves at the Amex to keep a respectable scoreline. But Brighton deserved every bit of this win, leaving Roberto De Zerbi as the best looking boss in town. Before the match he had said: “If you win and you look in the mirror you look handsome, if you lose you are stupid!” after picking up just three wins this calendar year. Villa’s disjointed first-half reeked of a side decimated by injuries with a loaded calendar taking its toll. BEST FREE BET SIGN UP OFFERS FOR UK BOOKMAKERSThey mustered just one shot in the first half – their fewest in the opening half of any Premier League match in over a year, when they faced Leeds in 2023 (also 1). Ivorian winger Adingra drilled a low drive straight at Olsen early on before dancing into the box again to sting the Swedish stopper’s hands with a raspign shot. Former Premier League manager looks unrecognisable as he plays GUITAR outside old club’s stadiumChants of “you’re just a s*** John McGinn” aimed at Pascal Gross nearly back-fired as his corner bounced off Welbeck’s back and was a fraction away from flying into the net. On 26 minutes Emery was forced into an early change bringing on Matty Cash for Morgan Rogers who had been stretching out an injured leg with no success. Ollie Watkins finally came to life on 34 minutes, latching onto a Lucas Digne cross and waltzing into the box before he was snaffled up. It was a menacing sight for Brighton fans given the striker scored a hat-trick in the reverse 6-1 pasting by Villa earlier on this season. Adingra was at it again, bursting towards goal as Danny Welbeck tried to play him in, but Olsen bravely came off his line to mop up the damage. The 34-year-old Olsen then made a blinding close-range save as Adingra nearly poked one in on the stroke of half-time following Pedro’s cross. And Olsen denied Gross who was a whisker away from breaking the deadlock after latching onto a floating Adingra pass. Emery must have given them a tongue-lashing at half-time because Matty Cash emerged from the restart and attempted a long-range screamer which shaved the crossbar.Brighton hit back strongly though with Pedro charging towards goal and firing at Olsen, who just about palmed away the damage. Substitute Julio Enciso also broke free after an inch-perfect Adingra cross , but blazed over. Gross looked as though he had given the ultimate two finger salute to Villa fans’ early taunts by slotting home on 68 minutes but VAR intervened and ruled it offside. Villa also had the ball in the net, but this time the linesman was the fun sponge, ruling out McGinn’s close-range attempt. Drama erupted when referee Robert Jones pointed to the spot as Konsa lightly clipped the heel of Adingra. It looked soft but VAR concurred and Pedro stepped up and headed home the rebound.Half of the Brazilian forward’s goal tally have come from the penalty spot this term.Even the boisterous Aston Villa fan who had whipped his shirt off to reveal a pasty belly glumly put it back on to sum up the visitors’ afternoon.
