Spain will take on Croatia in Berlin shortly, and you can follow all the action with our live coverage.
    Goodbye.

    Copy linkCopiedSwiss defy Euros history
With victory in Cologne, Switzerland recorded only their fourth win in 19 European Championship matches (D8 L7).
And it is only the second time that the Rossocrociati have triumphed in their opening match of a Euros tournament, following a 1-0 success against Albania in 2016.
Yet perhaps today’s win should have been on the card given recent results.
Murat Yakın’s side have lost only one of their last 15 matches in all competitions (W7 D7) – a 0-1 defeat to Romania in qualifying for this event in November 2023.
Copy linkCopiedMatch stats from Cologne Stadium
The numbers look much better for Hungary after an improved second half, but they ultimately paid the price for a first period in which they were outclassed.

Copy linkCopiedSwiss join Germany on maximum points
It’s looking good for Germany and Switzerland after just two games of Euro 2024.
Both countries registered resounding wins to take hold of the first two spots in Group A with the competition less than 24 hours old.
With midweek games against Hungary and Scotland to come next, the top two could have qualification sewn up by Wednesday.

Copy linkCopiedFull time – Hungary 1-3 Switzerland
The full time whistle goes in Cologne and it’s a fine three points for the Swiss.
Hungary made a game of it in the second period, but Marco Rossi’s men were never able to recover from a poor first half in which they were torn apart by Switzerland.
    Copy linkCopiedHungary 1-3 Switzerland
90+5. It’s the Switzerland supporters that can be heard now.
They’re singing their side towards an encouraging three points that will start their Euro 2024 journey in style.
    Copy linkCopiedHungary 1-3 Switzerland
90+2. Switzerland start with a win – and it’s a wonderful moment for the returning Breel Embolo!
Yann Sommer sends a hefty punt downfield, Willi Orban makes a hash of his header back towards his own goalkeeper, and in steals the Swiss sub.
A lovely chest down puts Embolo in control, and he then cooly lobs over the stranded Peter Gulacsi.
After all those months on the treatment table, Breel Embolo is smiling again and scoring again.

    Copy linkCopiedSealed in style!

    Copy linkCopiedHungary 1-2 Switzerland
    90. There will be five minutes of stoppage time.
Five minutes for Hungary to rescue a result. Five minutes for Switzerland to hold on for an opening match win.
    Copy linkCopiedHungary 1-2 Switzerland
    89. Hungary are throwing everyone forward…
…and, as a result, are leaving huge gaps at the back.
Copy linkCopiedHungary 1-2 Switzerland – Bolla yellow card
    87. With men committed forward, Hungary are in danger of being caught on the counter.
And that’s why Bendeguz Bolla has to put in a cynical challenge on Amdouni.
Switzerland boss Murat Yakin also is cautioned for his complaints on the touchline.
Copy linkCopiedHungary 1-2 Switzerland – Switzerland substitutions
    85. The Swiss move to shore their situation up with the introduction of two more players.
A forward in Dan Ndoye goes off along with Remo Freuler as a pair of midfielders – Fabian Rieder and Vincent Sierro – come on
    Copy linkCopiedHungary 1-2 Switzerland
    83. Ndoye attempts to seal it on the counter, but steers his shot wide of the near post under some desperate pressure from a defence that has begun to commit men forward.
    Copy linkCopiedHungary 1-2 Switzerland
    81. Inside the final ten minutes, and this one is still in the balance.
Clive Tyldesley believes Hungary are knocking on the door, and while I don’t agree with that notion, they have been the better side in the second period.
Copy linkCopiedHungary 1-2 Switzerland – Hungary substitutions
    79. Marco Rossi rolls his dice and turns to another striker in Martin Adam.
He replaces Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez, and also on is Marton Dardai.
The other player to make way is defender Attila Szalai.
    Copy linkCopiedHungary 1-2 Switzerland
    77. Hungary have encouragement, but they’re struggling to find any real flow.
The game has been littered with fouls in the past few minutes.
Copy linkCopiedHungary 1-2 Switzerland – Switzerland substitution
    74. Now we’re going to get a glimpse of Breel Embolo.
The striker – a mainstay of past Switzerland tournaments – has barely played in the past year after an injury-ravaged campaign, but he’s given a chance to show his fitness levels here.
He replaces a puffed-out Ruben Vargas.
    Copy linkCopiedHungary 1-2 Switzerland
    72. Hungary fancy their chances of rescuing something from this fixture now.
Another cross from the left, this time driven in on the bounce has Varga sliding in at the far post.
Before the striker can connect, however, Sommer leaps off his line to bravely claim.
Copy linkCopiedHungary 1-2 Switzerland – Szalai yellow card
    70. Defender Attila Szalai is the first Hungary player to make his way into the referee’s notebook.
The defender is cautioned for crashing into Dan Ndoye.
Copy linkCopiedHungary 1-2 Switzerland – Switzerland substitutions
    68. Murat Yakin responds to that goal by making a double change.
The Switzerland boss sends on Leonidas Stergiou and Burnley’s Zeki Amdouni for Silvan Widmer and Kwadwo Duah.
    Copy linkCopiedHungary 1-2 Switzerland
    66. Game on in Cologne!
There’s no mistake from Barnabas Varga this time as the striker outmuscles his marker to stoop low and head beyond Yann Sommer.
Again the action stemmed down the left, on this occasion with Dominik Szoboszlai delivering with perfection from the flank after checking back on to his right foot.
A little over a quarter of the contest remains, and Hungary have renewed hope.

    Copy linkCopiedOne back!

    Copy linkCopiedHungary 0-2 Switzerland
    64 Varga! Free header! Wide!
It’s another glorious chance for Hungary with Sallai putting over a peach of a cross from the left.
Schar misses his connection at the near post, and the presents a perfect opportunity for Varga to meet it…
    …and miss.
    Copy linkCopiedHungary 0-2 Switzerland
    62. A win treble for Barnabas Varga.
He forward is put through on goal, but a) mistimes his run and is offside; b) trips Ricardo Rodriguez to concede a foul; and c) shoots hopelessly over when one-on-one with Yann Sommer.
Copy linkCopiedHungary 0-2 Switzerland – Freuler yellow card
    59. This is better from Szoboszlai though. He combines well with a teammate and escapes away from Freuler on the left.
In fact, the Swiss midfielder’s only course of action is to pull back his opponent, leading to the game’s second yellow card.

Scotland will be hoping to pip their Euro 1996 group agony rather reproduce their Euro 2020 woe.
The closest the Scots came to reaching the group stage came in England 28 years ago – falling short by just one goal on goal difference.
Holland bagged a late consolation goal in a 4-1 loss to England to edge out Craig Brown’s men, who beat Switzerland 1-0 in their group finale
In contrast Scotland ended up with just one point and one goal in 2021 – with group winners England going on to reach the final.
Copy linkCopiedGermany are ‘nervous’ and ‘have more pressure’
Germany’s manager sounds a bit worried about stage fright.
Julian Nagelsmann said: “We are a bit nervous but we have to have a certain nervousness.
“We have more pressure than Scotland, so I’m sure they want to capitalise on that.”
Copy linkCopiedNagelsman says Scotland have 4-5 good players’
Julian Nagelsmann’s message to his Germany side about Scotland could be taken as a compliment or an insult.
The hosts’ manager said: “Scotland have four or five good players and lots of players who have physicality.
“It’s a team that doesn’t have world stars but that makes them very dangerous.
“It’s an incredible development. It’s not kick and rush.
“They can do that, but they can play football.
“They lost 4-0 to Holland, but they were better than the Dutch.”

    Copy linkCopiedClarke warns Scots
Steve Clarke has warned his Scotland team not to get caught up into the whirl of opening the Euros – and against such a successful team.
The manager said: “It’s the opening game of a four-team section, we know what we have to do to qualify and that’s all we focus on.
“The enormity of the opener is a bit of a sideshow and hopefully we don’t get too caught up in that.
“It’s a difficult game. One of the mantras I’ve had is respect everyone and fear no one.
“We know they’re a good team but hopefully we can show everyone we’re a good team as well.”

But the atmosphere is gently whipping up.
Victory for Scotland would be one of their greatest ever results.
And it will be a full stadium that greets Steve Cooper’s men.

Copy linkCopied’Robertson would get in England team’
Alan Shearer claims Andy Robertson would get in England’s first-choice team.
Even if there were no fitness doubts over the likes of Luke Shaw, the ex-Three Lions striker believes the Scotland and Liverpool star has all the qualities needed to be first choice.
Shearer told the BBC’s Match of the Day: Top 10 podcast: “He’s very very good.
“In the modern day, you have to get up and down and you have to be good on the ball and have the ability to whip balls into the box, and he has all of that.
“For me he’d get into the England team no doubts. Even if everyone was fit he would still get in.”

Copy linkCopiedTime to end the regrets
Skipper Andy Robertson says it’s time Scotland didn’t let themselves down at a major tournament.
Ahead of facing Germany tonight, the Liverpool left-back voiced his determination that Steve Clarke’s men should finally deliver – having never reached the knockout phase of the Euros or World Cup.
Robertson stressed the Scots “do not want any regrets this time”.
And he added: “We know that’s what’s at stake,
“We’ve got a lot of incentive but one is becoming that legendary squad – that has to drive us forward.
“We have to be at our best and if we can do that, who knows where we’ll be come 23 June.”
    Copy linkCopiedSuper Scots
For Scotland their midfield could be decisive in winning games.
Even without Ferguson the likes of Gilmour and McGinn will look to wrestle control of possession, with McTominay the key source of goals.
Captain Andy Robertson is ever reliable and Bournemouth’s Ryan Christie can produce moments of magic too.

    Copy linkCopiedGutsy Germans
Germany have a number of exciting players, perhaps none more so than Florian Wirtz who was a key part of Bayer Leverkusen’s invincible Bundesliga-winning team.
The 21-year-old scored 11 goals and produced 12 assists in the league this season, and has 17 caps to his name, with one goal.
Finding a way to get the best out of him and fellow midfielder Musiala will be pivotal for Nagelsmann, and the role Havertz plays could be key.
Mikel Arteta got Havertz back to his best this season operating as a false nine, but Nagelsmann has tended to prefer playing Nicolas Fullkrig as the focal point in attack.

Copy linkCopiedIt’s HERE! Welcome to SunSport’s live blog of the Euro 2024 opener between Germany and Scotland
The day we are waiting for is FINALLY here football fans as Germany host Scotland in the opening match of Euro 2024 – and the competition is set to throw up insane amounts of drama.
Germany already carry the weight of expectation that comes with being the host nation.
It is the first time they will host a major tournament since the 2006 World Cup, when they reached the semi-finals.
That will be the minimum goal for Julian Nagelsmann and his side, though Germany have struggled in recent years.
They were knocked out in the group stage of the previous two World Cups, while England beat Die Mannschaft 2-0 at Wembley at Euro 2020.
However, with the likes of Mats Hummels, Jamal Musiala and Kai Havertz enjoying impressive campaigns for their clubs this season, there is a chance they could go far in the tournament.
Scotland will have something to say about that with a lot of excitement surrounding Steve Clarke’s side.
A superb qualifying campaign saw them finish second in their group ahead of a Norway team boasting Erling Haaland and Martin Odegaard.
They beat France and the Netherlands in March before drawing with Ukraine 0-0 on Monday, but appear to have got over the hiccup which saw them lose to Turkey and Austria in successive matches last year.
Meanwhile Scotland lost just once in qualifying – in Spain, winning five of their eight games.
However their form has dropped off since with defeats to Northern Ireland and the Netherlands, with the 2-0 win over Gibraltar a much needed confidence booster.
But before we get into the thick of things, lets look at who could win the game for each country.

EXCLUSIVE: FOR Joe Hart, there is one reason that England do not have to worry about the man between the sticks, writes MARTIN LIPTON.
Five letters that sum up why Jordan Pickford is unchallenged as Gareth Southgate’s No 1.
Hart said: “It’s about trust. Jordan’s been exceptional for England, he really has.

“I could go into the technicalities and things but the biggest compliment that could be paid is that the England manager trusts him, the England team trust him.
“As a goalkeeper, that’s an incredible feeling and it’s one that’s not given out easily, it really isn’t.
“If you look at the top keepers who have won things over the years, they have always been trusted by their team-mates.
“And Jordan is trusted by the fans as well, which is important for this England team. You want to feel liked, you want to feel loved. And I think he fully deserves that label.”

EXCLUSIVE: Jurgen Klinsmann knows more than most about the fierce footballing rivalry between England and his homeland, writes DAVE KIDD.
The legendary German goal machine helped to break English hearts in semi-final penalty shootouts at both Italia 90 and Euro 96.
SunSport’s Euro columnist Jurgen Klinsmann is backing England to win Euro 2024
So it might surprise you to hear Klinsmann’s belief that, if Gareth Southgate’s side win this summer’s Euros, they would be popular champions in Germany — “respected and admired” as a team who have long deserved a major trophy.
Klinsmann, who will be a SunSport columnist throughout the Euros, said: “If England win it would be massively respected in Germany.
“Maybe not if they beat Germany in the final . . . but if Germany were already out and England win, it would be respected and admired.

“It helps to have Harry Kane there — he’s adored in Germany after settling in so well at Bayern Munich — and Jude  Bellingham, who played so well for Borussia Dortmund.
“I sense now is the time to get your trophy that you deserve. You deserved it at the last Euros.
“You need some luck. You’re going to get another penalty shootout because it’s part of tournaments.
“But England now have so much experience that they should have the belief to get it done.”

Yamal said: “I’ve brought my homework with me because I’m finishing high school. I have classes on the web and I’m doing well, I hope the teacher doesn’t fail me.”
Yamal has had a stunning breakthrough season at Barca and the teen star has already played 57 games for club and country this term, scoring nine goals.
But, rather than preparing for his summer holidays like most kids his age, Yamal – viewed as one of the best young talents in the world – is dreaming of success on Europe’s biggest stage.
Yamal, who turns 17 in July, added: “Before, I was watching the Euros lying on the sofa with my mother.
“We’re not here for a stroll, but to make history. I hope to go far in the Euros.”

Manchester United’s No 3 keeper last season, Heaton, 38, was part of England’s 2016 Euros squad which saw them dumped out by Iceland.

Heaton said: “It feels very special. Gareth rang me a couple weeks ago, floated the idea and I jumped at the opportunity.
“To come and be a part of it, at another major championship, is an honour and a privilege. I’m delighted to be here.
“It’s different, but I think it’s just a different challenge for me. I’ve come to support the boys, the goalkeepers, the outfielders, push them in training, try and offer them a different perspective and support in that manner.
“Of course, I’d love to be playing. I’m a football player that wants to play football matches, but it’s not that role. It’s a different role.
“But any opportunity to come and represent your country in some form. As I say, it was an amazing phone call and it didn’t take long for me to say yes.”

Ex-Manchester United manager Ralf Rangnick has the hump after England beat his Austria squad to their five-star Euro2024 base in Blankenhain, writes CHARLIE WYETT.
The Three Lions arrived at the Spa & Golf Resort Weimarer Land yesterday and they will tomorrow train on the pitches for the first time.
Today, they trained in front of youngsters at a German fourth division ground in the city of Jena. But they will be based in Blankenhain for the rest of the time and Rangnick failed in his bid to have Austria stay there – as England got there first.
In his four years as Leipzig coach, Rangnick used to play golf at the resort as it was his favourite course in the region – so he wanted to remain there all the time during Euro2024.
Germany also trained in Blankenhain last week but they were always set to return to their normal base which is near adidas HQ outside Nuremberg.
England will train in Blankenhain for the next four days before flying to Gelsenkirchen on Saturday afternoon for Sunday’s Euro2024 opener with Serbia.

The Manchester United left-back, 28, has not played since February due to recurring hamstring issues.

But he did end up making the plane to Germany – where England landed on Monday.
And 24 hours later Shaw was seen taking part in training with the rest of his team-mates.
This will be a major boost for Southgate – who has no other left-footed defender in his squad.
But Shaw did have to wear a green bib which identifies him as a player not to make contact with due to him being in a fragile state.
But it’s still unsure if he’ll be available for England’s opening game of the Euros against Serbia on Sunday.

England’s group opponents Denmark flew into a pitch storm as they arrived in German, writes MARTIN LIPTON.
A new surface was laid at the Danes’ training ground in Freudenstadt, near Baden-Baden in the south-west of Germany, earlier this month.
But panicking Uefa chiefs ordered parts of the pitch to be ripped up and relaid on Monday over worries that the newly-laid grass had not set properly.
Large areas of the pitch had been discoloured and were peeled off and replaced with new rolls of grass imported from Holland.
The pitch was supposed to be relaid in April but that was delayed because of a late covering of snow, meaning hurried work on June 2.
Denmark’s squad – including including Manchester United duo Rasmus Hojlund and Christian Eriksen plus Spurs midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg – left Copenhagen this morning.
Karsten Paaske, head of the Danish Groundsman Association, warned: “When you build a new grass pitch, it must have time to settle.
“That usually takes several weeks, not just a few hours and with the team training straightaway then the pitch will not have enough time to rest. If it were me, I’d have a stomach ache!”

The Dutch FA (KNVB) then announced he would not recover fully in time – and so would not be going to Germany.
A KNVB spokesman said: “Since De Jong’s entrance into the Dutch training camp, it was clear that his participation in EURO 2024 would be a race against time.
“Although it was initially hoped that he would be ready to play during the group stage of the European Championship, a planned examination yesterday and today showed that the ankle is not yet sufficiently resilient.
“Because his recovery will take more time, it was decided following consultation that Frenkie de Jong will not play in the European Championship.”
Manager Ronald Koeman added: “He won’t be fit enough to play at this level for the next three weeks. There’s no point keeping him with us.”

Prince William visited Gareth Southgate and his squad earlier today.
He told the players how his children had offered them a hilarious piece of advice.
He said: “I was on the school run this morning with the children and I asked them what I should say to you today. The best bit of advice I got to ask you was to eat twice as much as you normally eat.
“I don’t have visions of all of you running around with massive red tummies and getting stitches on the pitch.

England have made a number of special requests to their five-star base for Euro 2024.
With players set to touchdown in Germany shortly, the Weimarer Land Spa and Golf resort in the small rural town of Blankenhain have been preparing for their arrival.
And several special requests have been made before the players check-in.Owner Matthias Grafe told Bild: “Most questions were about the air conditioning in the rooms – probably after the experience in Qatar. We had to retrofit one room. “We also ensured that English television was broadcast via satellite in the rooms.
“And we blacked out the glass fronts and windows so that the notorious yellow press couldn’t take pictures of the boys.”
In the kitchen, 35 chefs are on hand as Grafe confirmed England have chosen a bespoke menu.
And a robot waiter named Robbie goes around collecting empty plates.
There has also been changes to the rooms to make the resort a home away from home.
Grafe said: “The rooms of the players, coaches and support staff are also decorated with personal items.
‘For example, we received family photos and other personal items in advance, which we then used to decorate the rooms.”

“I just hope he’s managed properly. Managing a player like him, at his age, is so important.
“I played a lot when I was younger, and whether or not that had an impact on the later stages of my career, I don’t know.
“Hopefully he’s managed well, in terms of his training load and game time.
“There’ll be moments where you’re just going to have to take him out of the team, not because of his performances, but because you need to look after him and wrap him in cotton wool.
“We need to be thinking about the need for Kobbie Mainoo in five or six years from now, not just the need for him here and now.

What a moment for Eden Hazard.
The fans queued up to see him, and boy did he deliver.
His free-kick to level the scoring at 1-0 down was what he would have dreamed about on his return to Stamford Bridge.
He dazzled throughout the night with his trickery, quick feet, and those neat little flicks that Chelsea fans loved so much during his time in this very stadium.

It’s been a night to forget for England – but at least this defeat to Iceland was in the build-up to a European Championship rather than at it.
And while it will give the nation’s armchair fans plenty to complain about for the next week, all will be forgotten once the Three Lions kick-off against Serbia in Gelsenkirchen a week on Sunday.

England boss Gareth Southgate insists he has learnt a lot about his players after their two warm-up matches this week.
And despite a display he labelled ‘disjointed and disappointing’, the Three Lions coach believes the matches will stand them in good stead for what’s to come in Germany.
It was a disjointed and disappointing performance. We didn’t show enough character, but I still think it’s good for us before an international tournament. Across the two games we probably haven’t had our full side out, but we’ve been able to look at people, and we’ve been able to learn about the balance of the team.Gareth SouthgateChannel 4

Gareth Southgate has revealed that John Stones was withdrawn at half-time as a precaution after picking up a early knock against Iceland.
The defender was injured in the second minute after landing awkwardly under Jon Dagur Thorsteinsson, but played on until the break.
The England boss isn’t certain as to the extent of the damage, but believes his key defender will be fit to face Serbia a week on Sunday.

Just as England were dreaming about emulating 1966 and all that, here was a horrific reprise of 2016 instead. Gareth Southgate’s men, favourites to win the Euros with all good bookmakers, suffered the worst possible send-off to Germany as they were humiliated by their bogeymen from a volcanic island in the North Atlantic. England midfielder Declan Rice admitted that tonight’s performance and result was not the best ahead of a summer tournament, but also revealed that it would be an experience for the squad to draw on and use to their advantage.
When we have that much of the ball, have a couple of really clearcut chances, and get beat 1-0 at home just before a Euros isn’t ideal – but I’m going to take the positives from it as well. There were a lot of promising performances, I felt on the pitch we played with a good tempo, always tried to play forward and be a threat. In the end it becomes a frustration game because you’re chasing your tail, almost getting caught on the counter-attack, and that’s where we need to be more savvy.Declan RiceChannel 4

A smattering of boos greet the final whistle at Wembley as Iceland record another historic win over England.
The game was settled by Jon Dagur Thorsteinsson’s first half goal and, despite all of their possession, the one-paced Three Lions never really got going.
It’s a result and performance that will leave Gareth Southgate with plenty to consider ahead of next weekend’s Euro 2024 opener with Serbia.

    Copy linkCopiedEngland 0-1 Iceland
90+4. The game will end with two Liverpool defenders shooting wide.
First, Alexander-Arnold is agonisingly close with an arrowed, deflected effort through a crowd that almost finds the bottom corner.
From the subsequent corner and a bit of head-tennis, Gomez lines up a striker that – unsurprisingly – flies out of play.
    Copy linkCopiedEngland 0-1 Iceland
90+2. I think I preferred it when we used to play our warm-up matches against Aylesbury.
Or at least go out afterwards and make ‘the dentist’s chair’ legendary.
Saka almost creates an opening at the death, but he was rightly called as offside.
    Copy linkCopiedEngland 0-1 Iceland
    90. The board goes up to indicate five minutes of stoppage time which brings an unmerited roar of encouragement from those remaining inside Wembley.
Meanwhile, back-to-back crosses from the right are comfortably cut out by Finnsson.

And by pump, I mean exits.

    Copy linkCopiedEngland 0-1 Iceland
    77. Another change for the hosts brings Ebere Eze into the game with Cole Palmer making way.
While it’s great to see Eze in an England shirt again, you can’t help seeing it as another like-for-like swap.
Surely we could use this scenario to try something different for when we’re facing defeat late on at a major tournament.
    Copy linkCopiedEngland 0-1 Iceland
    75. Ramsdale takes decisive action to tip Finnsson’s up-and-under over the crossbar.
The defender responded to Toney’s half-hearted clearance with a looping effort back towards goal that initially had the goalkeeper uncertain of his position.
    Copy linkCopiedEngland 0-1 Iceland
    73. Those England substitutions have certainly changed the game – it’s all Iceland now.
The visitors force a corner with the hosts looking somewhat unstructured and pulled out of shape.

    71. Marc Guehi is completely wiped out by a powerful Thorsteinsson shot to the side of the head.
There’s immediate concern for the Crystal Palace centre-back, who is made to go through the concussion checks with the England medical stuff.
Eventually, they give him the thumbs up to continue, and continue he does.

    69. On the turn, Ivan Toney miscues a half-chance well wide of goal.
I don’t think the ball had even landed before I received a message from a Bournemouth-supporting pal stating “Dominic Solanke would have scored that.”
    Copy linkCopiedEngland 0-1 Iceland
    67. Another chance for Iceland as Ingason sneaks round the back at a corner to head goalwards.
Ramsdale, guilty of misjudging the initial cross, responds by making a fine save from point blank range.

    Copy linkCopiedEngland 0-1 Iceland
    65. England make four changes with Joe Gomez, Bukayo Saka, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Ivan Toney all sent into action.
The quartet replace Kieran Trippier, Anthony Gordon, Kyle Walker and Harry Kane.
Iceland also make a substitution with midfielder Stefan Teitur Thordarson replacing Mikael Anderson.

    63. It should be two!
On the counter, Iceland breach the England offside trap and find themselves two-on-one.
Gudjohnsen does the right thing by squaring to goalscorer Thorsteinsson, only for the forward to slip at the vital moment and pass up a golden opportunity.
    A huge let-off for England.
    Copy linkCopiedEngland 0-1 Iceland
    61. A horde of England substitutes await on the touchline as Rice, Mainoo, Palmer, Foden, Kane and Walker take it in turns to attempt to find space in behind the Iceland defence.
    None of them succeed.
