While they play each other tomorrow, that result aside, it means that both Croatia and Albania would need to pull off unlikely victories.
For Albania, this result is a huge positive but Croatia are facing the harsh reality of an early exit.

Albania have left Croatia feeling like they have suffered defeat there.
Having worked so hard to turn the game around, the late equaliser from Gjasula left the ‘Checkered Ones’ dead on their feet.

What a game of football we were treated to there.
In different phases of the game, both of these sides were brilliant and looked sure to go on and dominate the game.
However, we just saw how a game of football can change in an instant.

When Luka Modric steps away from international football, he will leave a huge hole in this Croatian side.
Even at the age of 38-years-old, he continuously pulls the strings for Croatia.
His vision, passing and composure was key for them to get back into this game and almost win it.

    90+6. Wow. Wow. Wow.
What drama we are seeing in Hamburg.
Albania continue to pressure and Broja does well down the left flank to get a cross into the box.
Gjasula arrives at the edge of the box to slot home and make ammends for his earlier own goal.

90+4. Wow. Seferi has two gilt-edged chances to score.
The first is blocked by the defender but as the ball comes back to the Albanian, he blazes his effort over the bar.
Croatia breath a sigh of relief.

90+2. Weirdly, the fourth official changes the added time to six minutes.
The keeper has been receiving treatment for a phantom injury and now has his nose plugged with dressing.
However, looking at the replay, there was no contact with his head from the Albanian player whatsoever.

    90. If Croatia can hold onto this result, it will leave them with an intriguing last game against Italy.
Albania get a shot in from the edge of the box but Likakovic makes a good stop.
The Falcons are first to the follow up but once again the keeper gets a touch as the ball goes over the bar.
No corner for Albania as the assistant raises his flag for offside.
We are going to have five added minutes.

    88. Modric rides a challenge and looks to drill one from outside the box.

    86. Albania are starting to dominate possession now.
As they look for a goal that could give them something from this game, Croatia are looking to hit them on the counter.

    78. Suddenly Croatia are in pole position once again.
If they can hold on for victory, they stand a good chance of making it out of the group.

    74. Finally Croatia manage to break down the Albanian resistance.
As Kramaric checks onto his right foot, the defender does that weird thing they do in the modern game.
He stands side on to the attacker, not looking to tackle him, and the Croatian puts the ball through his legs leaving the keeper unsighted.

    70. It is an old cliche in football but Albania need to ‘stop the cross’.
Perisic is getting some dangerous balls in and it seems only a matter of time before Croatia capitalise.
Modric comes over to take a corner for the Croatians.

We may have only had two matches to enjoy, but they served up stunners and storyline by the bucketload.

Czech Republic head coach Ivan Hasek was incredibly disappointed that his young side couldn’t make it through to the final whistle without conceding a winner.
However, magnanimous in defeat, the 60-year-old took time in his press conference to praise the record-breaking Cristiano Ronaldo, who played and threatened for the whole match at the age of 39.
It is really unbelievable how dangerous a player Cristiano Ronaldo is in every game at his age. He showed his genius again, he knows how to get involved in chances. My hat goes off to him; he is one of the best players in football history. Truly a fabulous man.Ivan HasekUefa.com

Lukás Provod sensational opening goal for the Czech Republic this evening was the 11th scored from outside the box at this European Championship.

Francisco Conceicao’s introduction as the clock raised 90 minutes raised eyebrows from many who wanted Roberto Martinez to make attacking alterations much earlier in the game.
But just 111 seconds later, the Portugal head coach was vindicated and his 21-year-old substitute was in dreamland.
In the process, Conceicao became the first Portugal player to score as a substitute at the European Championship since Eder’s winner in extra-time of the 2016 final.

Copy linkCopiedFull time – Portugal 2-1 Czech Republic
Portugal prevail in a game that came to life in the last half hour.
For an hour, the Selecao failed to break down the Czech Republic despite plenty of possession, and then were stunned into life by Lukas Provod’s stunner.
And even then, the Portuguese needed a helping hand to get them going, literally in the case of Jindrich Stanek, who spilled the ball on to his own defender’s shin for an own goal.
Portugal kept searching for a winner, and eventually it came in dramatic style in stoppage time, young sub Francisco Conceicao thumping in at the near post.

    Copy linkCopiedPortugal 2-1 Czech Republic
90+4. Lingr has the Leipzig Stadium holding its breath with seconds left on the clock…
…but before he can loop his header agonisingly wide, he is flagged for offside.

    90+2. Unbelievable!
On the pitch for little over 100 seconds, and young Francisco Conceicao has won it for the Portuguese!
Another sub in Pedro Neto makes it, bursting down the left, sitting down his marker, and fizzing in a low cross.
It takes a touch off one defender, and that’s enough to befuddle Robin Hranac.
The Czech centre-back slips, and inadvertently tees it perfectly into the path of Conceicao, who slams it straight back under Jindrich Stanek.
What a moment for the youngster!

Meanwhile, young Francisco Conceicao is on for his competitive debut in stoppage time as one of three last-gasp Portugal subs.
Also on for the Selecao are Nelson Semedo and Pedro Neto; off go Joao Cancelo, Nuno Mendes and Vitinha.

    87. Ronaldo against the post! Jota header! Goal!
Portugal have turned it around thanks to their super sub!
The Portuguese players, fans and staff celebrate wildly but…
    …but…
…but there is a goal check going on for a possible offside.
And it doesn’t take long at all with the semi-automated decisions at these finals.
The goal is chalked off after Ronaldo drifted ahead of his marker as the cross came in from the right.
We remain all-square at 1-1 with three minutes to go.

    69. The Czech Republic lead did not last long – and they only have themselves to blame.
Nuno Mendes heads down a right-wing cross at the far post, and it should be meat and drink for Jindrich Stanek.
However, the goalkeeper fails to grasps the ball fully in the wet conditions, instead pushing it up and on to the shin of the unwitting Robin Hranac.

This will be a massive honour to appear in Euro 2024 having never qualified for a tournament previously.
Largely seen as massive outsiders to even get out of the group, the pressure is off Willy Sagnol’s team.
This should allow them to go out and enjoy their football and show the watching world what they are made of.

With many young talented players coming through, Vincenzo Montella feels this is the time for them to shine.
Victory in their opener would be the perfect start for the side ranked 40th in the latest FIFA rankings.

With Portugal expected to win Group F, it leaves the runners-up spot open to any of the remaining three teams.
As a result, this game could have a huge impact on who takes that place as the two teams look to battle the Czech Republic for qualification.
In these tournaments, four points is usually enough to make the knockout phases.
Copy linkCopiedWelcome to Turkey vs Georgia
Group F kicks-off this evening as Turkey lock horns with Georgia in what could prove a pivotal game for both teams.
Turkey suffered injuries to Enes Unal, Caglar Soyuncu and Ozan Kabak ahead of the tournament.
When they decided on their final squad for tournament Dogan Alemdar, Cenk Ozkacar, Berat Ozdemir, Can Uzun, Abdulkadir Omur and Oguz Aydin all missed out.
It was a surprise to many that Uzun was left out after the 18-year-old scored 16 times this season in the second tier of German football.
Baris Alper Yilmaz is expected to lead the line with Juventus’ Kenan Yildiz expected to operate in the number 10 position.
Merih Demiral will be a key player in the heart of defence with Abdulkerim Bardakci also set to feature.
Hakan Calhanoglu will captain Turkey in the tournament from midfield, looking to add to his tally of 18 goals for the national team.
Real Madrid youngster Arda Guler could potentially be a surprise starter given his game time this season but his creativity could be key to their goal return in the tournament.
Georgia are hoping that Solomon Kvirkvelia overcomes an injury issue to feature in the middle of defence but Giorgi Gvelesiani is on standby if he doesn’t.
Otar Kiteishvili is also expected to recover from the injury that forced him off against Montenegro.
Georges Mikautadze, who plays his club football for Metz, has scored 10 times in 25 appearances for his country and is expected to start in the final third for Georgia.
Jaba Kankava was named in the initial squad but has since been replaced by Gabriel Sigua and the 18-year-old could make just his second appearance for the national side.

And the match observer agreed, making the former Chelsea midfielder tonight’s man of the match.
Fellow ITV pundit Roy Keane added: “He was brilliant. He’s got that vast experience. We talk about him breaking the play up but it’s the other side of his game too.
“His passing was sharp. We know he covers the ground well but his decision making was excellent and he was neat and tidy.
“He makes runs forward. He looked a younger version of himself, he was excellent.”

France certainly know they were in a game. And there’ll be a few sore bodies in the morning.
Austria were aggressive with and without the ball and make it uncomfortable for France on the night.

Kylian Mbappe’s seemingly broken nose will get a lot of headlines tomorrow. Just how bad could that be….

    5. Belgium look so dangerous on the attack.
Slovakia just cannot cope with Jeremy Doku.
He finds Romelu Lukaku but his shot is blocked by the onrushing keeper on the edge of his box.
Trossard picks up the loose ball but dwells on it for too long before getting it into the box and the keeper gathers.

    3. Somehow, the scores are still level.
Doku cut in from the right as he ghosted past the Slovakian players.
He lays it off to De Bruyne who stretches out a leg but the keeper blocks it.
It drops to Lukaku, who seems certain to score, but once again the keeper saves.

    1. This should be an interesting contest this evening.
Many have already written off Slovakia, including the bookies.
They are a good football team and if Belgium have an off day, they could cause an upset.
Copy linkCopiedView from SunSport’s Martin Lipton in Frankfurt
Belgium go into the match as strong favourites, despite their nervousness.
As a measure of the difference in status, Lukaku – still nominally a Chelsea player with two years left on his Stamford Bridge contract despite not playing for the Blues for the past two seasons – has scored 12 tournament goals in his career.
Slovakia, admittedly only a separate football nation for 30 years after the break-up of the former Czechoslovakia, have scored NINE in total.

Since taking over as Belgian manager, Domenico Tedesco is unbeaten in 14 games (W10, D4).
This is their seventh appearance at the Euros with their best showing resulting in ending up runners-up in the 1980 edition.
They have gone out in the quarter-finals of the last two tournaments, losing 3-1 to Wales in Euro 2016 and suffering a 2-1 defeat to Italy in Euro 2020.
Copy linkCopiedFront line to fear for Slovaks
There is no doubting that Belgium have a formidable attacking threat.
With De Bruyne playing in the number 10 slot, he will have Doku and Trossard either side of him.
Down the middle they have the ultimate target man in Lukaku, a striker who does not struggle to taunt sides with his physical presence and scoring abilities.
Copy linkCopiedView from SunSport’s Martin Lipton in Frankfurt
We need to talk about Kevin.
    Kevin De Bruyne, that is.
The fulcrum of Manchester City for the Guardiola glory era, but who is suddenly looking vulnerable, uncertain, no longer what he was.
That huge eight inch scar on his right hamstring is the visible evidence of why the doubts are swirling.
But with most of Belgium’s “Golden Generation” now part of Red Devils’ history, De Bruyne has to show he is still able to mesmerise and cajole.
Belgium were a mess in Qatar, a squad riven by internal doubts and squabbles, De Bruyne’s observation that the team was “too old” fair but damaging.
This is a different Belgium but still looking to the City man and Romelu Lukaku for inspiration.
The heat is on, too. If Belgium are not right, Slovakia’s aggressive press could really undo them.
Belgium’s injury issues have continued, with Axel Witsel ruled out while Thomas Meunier is still recuperating back home, so Leicester’s Wout Faes is partnered by Anderlecht rookie Zeno Debast at the back.

Belgium and Slovakia meet at the Frankfurt Arena this evening in the first game of their Euro 2024 campaign in Germany.
Jeremy Doku and Kevin De Bruyne will be key players to Belgium’s chances but the absences at the back could mean a start for Maxim De Cuyper, with the Club Brugge defender is in line to win his third cap for the national side.
Axel Witsel is also set to fill in a hole in the middle of defence along with Leicester City’s Wout Faes.
Everton’s Amadou Onana should be joined by Orel Mangala in the middle of midfield with the likes of Youri Tielemans and Arthur Vermeeren being left in reserve.
For Slovakia, Denis Vavro is nursing a slight thigh problem but the defender is expected to be given the nod for a starting berth.
Juraj Kucka should also be fit despite some recent injury issues, while there is expected to be a spot in the final third of the pitch for Robert Bozenik, who has seven goals for his national team.
PSG defender Milan Skriniar, who is set to win his 69th cap for his country, while leading scorer Ondrej Duda is expected to be a certain starter for The Falcons.
Another key player for Slovakia is 29-year-old Stanislav Lobotka, with the Napoli midfielder is set to win his 56th cap for his country this evening.

The next obstacle for The Danes will be a match-up with England at Deutch Bank Park on Thursday.
There is no doubt that they will have looked at this as the toughest test of their fixtures in this group.
Slovenia meanwhile, will play Serbia in the Allianz Arena.

Rasmus Hojlund put in a shift for Denmark today but it seemed to be a common theme which we saw in the Premier League.
He likes to drop deep into pockets of space and work the channels but far too often is not in the penalty area.
This drastically effects his numbers and some would say is why he is not hitting 20 goals a season as when he receives the ball, he is in positions where he cannot hurt the opposition.

Slovenia will have impressed many this evening with their effort levels right up until the final whistle.
Despite going behind to Denmark, they gave up hope that they could find a way back into this game.
At one stage, having got their goal, you even wondered whether they would go on to win the match.

Christian Eriksen showed us just how much he still has to offer this Denmark team this afternoon.
Despite not having as much game time as he would have liked at Old Trafford this season, Eriksen put in a man of the match performance.
Everything that Denmark did well was as a result of the playmaker.
    England beware.

90+2. If the result stays like this, it will mean both sides start their campaign unbeaten.
Confidence can be a huge tool for success in these tournaments.

    88. Neither side will be content with a draw in this one.
With matches against Serbia and England to come, both sides will be looking to get a late winner.
As to who will get it, that is anyone’s guess.

    86. Slovenia will feel they have done enough in this game to get something out of it.
Denmark on the other hand, will feel they have controlled the game from start to finish.
They have just struggled to create enough clear-cut chances to put the game to bed.

    84. It is Denmark’s turn to ring the changes as they try to bring some fresh legs on to find a late winner.
Wind, Hjobjerg and Hojlund all makes way for Norgaard, Poulsen and Dolberg.
This should be end to end stuff for the remainder of the game now.

    82. Slovenia have turned this game on its head now.
It is ‘The Dragons’ who are piling all the pressure on now.
Sporar ghosts in behind Vestergaard but he cannot beat Schmeichel in th Denmark goal.

    80. This should be some finish to this game now.
After just hitting the woodwork, Janza strikes a superb half-volley towards goal but his effort takes a deflection that wrong foots Schmeichel in the Danish goal.
You could see on the faces of the Denmark fans in the crowd just how much that sucker punch goal hurt them.

So close from the Slovenian front man.

    74. Janza puts a sublime ball into the box from a free kick in a wide position.
The ball drops to Sporar on the edge of the six yard box but somehow he volleys wide of the post.

As the game goes on now, they will have to throw more bodies forward.

    70. Wind comes charging forward and lays it off into the path of Eriksen.
He holds off the challenge from the Slovenian defender and plays in Hojlund.
As the striker looks to run towards the byline, it is put for another Danish corner.

    68. The game is starting to come to life a little more now.
We have had two excellent chances, one for either team, in the space of a few minutes.
While Denmark will feel they are the better of the two teams, while the scoreline remains only a onee goal lead, Slovenia are very much still in this game.

    66. Slovenia have themselves a massive chance to equalise.
As a cross is clipped into the box, Cerin makes a late run and the defender does not even see him coming.
He rises to meet the ball with his head but puts it wide of the goal.
    What a chance.

    64. What a chance for Denmark to double their lead.
Kristiansen puts a brilliant ball across the six yard box.
Hojlund is there to meet, with a goal looking certain, but Oblak does well to block the effort.

    62. This game has struggled to come to life in this second half so far.
Denmark are happy to pass the ball around and patiently wait for an opening.
Slovenia are putting crosses into the box from deep positions but are struggling to penetrate the Danish defence.
    Copy linkCopiedSlovenia 0-1 Denmark
    60. Slovenia need to find a way to get Sesko into the game more.
He is without doubt their star player but has been pretty anonymous in this game so far.
Not that Denmark will be complaining about this currently.

    58. Am not sure with under two hours until the kick-off in their own game whether any of the England squad will be watching this one.
One thing is for sure that Gareth Southgate will be replaying this to his squad before they meet either team.
In the previous Euros, it was England who knocked out Denmark at the semi-final stage.
    Copy linkCopiedSlovenia 0-1 Denmark
    56. Hojlund has been busy in the final third, makes runs into the channels but never seems to spend enough time in the box.
This is a big contributory factor in his goal return.
Eriksen whips in another corner but Slovenia head the ball clear.
