And 24-year-old Faes is determined to prove he is worth the wait as he looks to fill the huge void left by Wesley Fofana’s £70million move to Chelsea.
The Belgian international said: “It’s an amazing feeling, it’s not sunk in yet.
“This is the dream step in my career and I’m very happy to be here.”
Rodgers believes Faes can develop into a top Premier League defender and the centre-half says he can’t wait to put in the hours at the club’s stunning £100million training complex.

He said: “I’m progressing year after year, and I hope to continue doing the same here.
“All the facilities and knowledge is here to help me to get even better. I will have to work hard, but I will give 100 per cent to help the team.”
Rodgers had been linked with Wolves’ Willy Boly and Southampton’s Jan Bednarek but was relieved to get the Faes deal over the line before tonight’s crucial home game against Manchester United.

He made 37 appearances for Reims in Ligue 1 last season and romped to the club’s Player of the Year award with his commanding performances at the back.
The Belgian should have no trouble settling in at Leicester as he won his first cap last June in a 6-1 Nations League victory over Poland, alongside his new Foxes teammates Youri Tielemans and Timothy Castagne. More

Lionel Messi had initially thought he had equalised for Les Parisiens as he took aim from outside the box, but his curling effort smashed off the post.
Mbappe reacted quickest to the rebound as he latched onto the ball on the corner of the six-yard box with goalkeeper Alexander Nubel still on the floor.
But he somehow also struck the frame of the goal to not only the shock of the fans at Parc des Princes but also his team-mates.
Italian shot-stopper Gianluigi Donnarumma was left with his head in his hands as Mbappe failed to grab his fifth goal of the Ligue 1 season.

Tavares opened his account for Marseille on his debut against Reims with a rifling attempt into the bottom right corner from the outside of the box after cutting onto his right foot.
A week later he was on the score sheet again in the draw with Stade Brestois as he volleyed a fine shot into the corner.
And Tavares has now scored another stunner in a strike similar to his Reims goal as he took aim from outside the box, but his effort this time nestled into the near post.
Nice shot-stopper Kasper Schmeichel stood no chance as the former Benfica defender’s shot cannoned off the post and in.

Though the ex-Leicester man did prevent Tavares from helping himself to a brace in the 42nd minute as he parried away his low drive.
Unfortunately for the Denmark international, the ball fell to Arsenal icon Alexis Sanchez who tucked home his second of the match having broke the deadlock.
Sanchez was one of four players with Arsenal ties that started for Marseille, with Matteo Guendouzi and Sead Kolasinac named in the line-up.
Meanwhile Aaron Ramsey came off the bench for Nice, who also had Nicolas Pepe in the starting XI following his loan move from Arsenal on Thursday.

Pepe, 27, has struggled to live up to his £72million transfer fee since joining the Gunners from Lille in 2019.
And following the arrivals of attacking players Marquinhos and Fabio Vieira this summer, Mikel Arteta deemed the Ivorian surplus to requirements.
So the record-signing will now spend the 2022-23 campaign back in Ligue 1 trying to rediscover his best form.
Pepe banged in 22 goals in his final season with Lille but has managed just 16 in his 80 Premier League appearances for Arsenal.
