Newcastle to launch third James Maddison transfer bid in January – and he wants move to cement place in England squad

Club chiefs had bids worth £40million and £45m turned down for Leicester’s creator in chief.
After the first of these offers, Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers said: “That might just cover three-quarters of his left leg.”
Undeterred, however, Newcastle appear set to try again for the attacking midfielder in January.
Despite spending £215m across the last two transfer windows, Eddie Howe’s side lack creativity and have only bagged eight goals in their first seven matches this term.

According to The Times, the Magpies are ready to pounce should Leicester lower their demands.
While Rodger and Co have endured a dismal start to the Prem campaign, having accrued just one point from seven matches, Maddison has actually begun the season in fine form.
The former Norwich ace has bagged three goals and laid on an assist in six appearances this term to date.
Irrespective of his form, Maddison appears to be out in the cold when it comes to Gareth Southgate’s England squad.

The Leicester star has earned just one Three Lions cap to date, a substitute appearance against Montenegro in 2019.
While it may be too late to earn a place in the squad for the World Cup in Qatar, Maddison is believed to feel that a move to St James’ Park could help his England chances.
Toon stars Nick Pope and Kieran Trippier are both regulars in Southgate’s squad.
Maddison has 18 months remaining on his Foxes contract, although they are claimed to possess an option to extend the deal by a further year.
In addition to Maddison, Newcastle have been linked with plenty of attacking stars.

Brendan Rodgers ‘to be given more time at Leicester’ as Foxes count cost of sacking highest paid manager ever

LEICESTER will reportedly give Brendan Rodgers one last chance before they relieve him of his duties following the club’s horror start to the season. The Foxes are rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table having failed to win any of their opening seven matches.
Brendan Rodgers is under huge pressure at Leicester following their horror start to the seasonCredit: Reuters
It is the worst start any team has made since the Premier League began in 1992 with the Midlands outfit claiming just one point out of a possible 21.
SunSport exclusively revealed last week how Brentford boss Thomas Frank is at the top of their wishlist should they sack Rodgers.
But the highly-rated Dane only signed a new contract to 2025 in January and is in no rush to leave the ambitious Bees.
Leicester know it will cost a pretty penny to axe the Northern Irishman with Rodgers due £10million in compensation.

And according to The Athletic, the cost of removing Leicester’s highest-paid manager in their history is being factored into the board’s thinking.
They also state that Rodgers is likely to be given more time ahead of the crunch clash against 19th-placed Nottingham Forest after the international break.
But failure to beat the newly-promoted side could see them take action depending on how they play and the reaction from fans.
The news outlet also adds that Leicester want to give Rodgers every chance to succeed given his achievements at the King Power Stadium.

Rodgers has guided the Foxes to FA Cup and Community Shield glory, while he also took the club to the semi-finals of the Europa Conference League last season.
Rodgers, who was appointed Leicester boss in February 2019, appeared almost resigned to his fate following Saturday’s 6-2 hammering at Spurs.
He said: “I know how football works and I totally understand the frustration of the supporters.
“I cannot hide from that because it’s my responsibility.
“Losing the last six games doesn’t make great reading but whatever happens to me here at Leicester, I will always respect this club.” More

Brendan Rodgers’ winless side sit bottom of the Premier League after six games and have lost their last five on the bounce.

But now the misfiring squad – including the likes of Jamie Vardy and James Maddison – have an extra reason to try and land the points.
Bonnie, from adult platform Fanvue, has offered the players and Rodgers free lifetime subscriptions to her channel if they can put one over Spurs.

In May, the blonde bombshell told the Mirror: “I was at a buying job on minimum wage before Fanvue, working pay cheque to pay cheque, but within a couple of months I’d been able to pay off all my credit cards and debts, and now I’m living my dream life.”
She added: “I’ve always wanted to be my own boss and love creating content, and had heard from friends in the industry that Fanvue were really supportive to creators.”

He has shown no indications of wanting to sign a new one and will look to end his Leicester stay.
Arsenal have held a long-term interest in the midfield ace, while Manchester United have also been linked.
But neither opted to meet the Foxes’ £25million valuation in the summer.
According to French outlet Jeunes Footeux, Newcastle could sneak ahead of both and secure Tielemans’ signature in January.

They claim that the Toon are readying a £17m bid for the highly-rated star.
Leicester could be under pressure to sell mid-season, rather than letting him walk for free next June.
Club bosses are understood to want to recoup at least some of the £40m they splashed out to sign him in 2019.
Whether Tielemans would accept a move to St James’ Park remains to be seen.

The Foxes lost Wesley Fofana to Chelsea last month, while stalwart Kasper Schmeichel left for Nice.

Of these matches, Tielemans has started five – remaining a key man despite doubts lingering over his future.
Newcastle, meanwhile, have had an indifferent start – winning one, drawing four and losing one of their opening half a dozen matches.
Tielemans could gather more interest over the winter months, as he competes for Belgium at the World Cup in Qatar. More

Leicester join transfer race for Craig Dawson from West Ham after finally selling Wesley Fofana to Chelsea for £70m

LEICESTER have entered the race to sign West Ham defender Craig Dawson after finally selling Wesley Fofana. The Hammers have received approaches from both Aston Villa and Wolves in recent days, with the 32-year-old keen to secure a move.

West Ham boss David Moyes has added further depth at centre-back this summer with Thilo Kehrer and Nayef Aguerd arriving.
A pre-season injury to Aguerd means that Moyes would want to replace Dawson should he leave.
Talks have been held over a loan deal for Southampton defender Jan Bednarek, while the East London side have also asked about a deal for Leander Dendoncker at Wolves should Dawson move to Molineux.
Wolves have already rejected an £8.5million offer from Everton for the Belgian, who can play as a defensive midfielder or central defender.

West Ham tried to sign Dendoncker, 27, from Anderlecht before he joined Wolves in 2018.
Dawson has less than one year left on his deal at the London Stadium meaning the Hammers will want to secure a fee for the former West Brom man.

West Ham paid Watford £2m to sign Dawson after he initially joined the club on loan.
Given the interest in the defender, there is hope that they could make a profit on that deal should he move before the deadline.

Asked about Dawson’s future, Moyes said: “Ideally, we wouldn’t [lose him] but it’s probably a much more complicated situation than what it is.
“So it is an ongoing thing at the moment and we’ll just have to see how it goes.”
Leicester – who play Manchester United just before the transfer window closes – have Jonny Evans and Daniel Amartey as well as out-of-favour duo Caglar Soyuncu and Jannik Vestergaard as their remaining centre-backs after the £70m sale of Fofana to Chelsea. More

And with the Foxes open to selling the 52-cap Belgian star, the Toon are now in the race.
According to the Daily Mail, Eddie Howe wants to land two new midfielders before Thursday’s 11pm deadline.
As well as a holding midfielder, it is thought the Magpies boss wants to make a last-ditch swoop for Tielemans.
Tielemans, 25, is understood to be ready to move on because he wants to play in Europe again after Leicester missed out for this season.

But the project underway at St James’ Park – bankrolled by the Saudi Public Investment Fund – could be an appealing option.
According to Sky Sports, the Foxes would accept around £25million for the FA Cup-winning hero and club-record signing.
Leicester play Manchester United tomorrow night, with the full-time whistle blowing just an hour before the transfer window closes.
However, it is understood Newcastle and Arsenal have not submitted an official bid yet.

The Gunners were tipped to go all out for Tielemans earlier in the window – with Manchester United and Liverpool also linked.
Mikel Arteta might be tempted to make a move, though, following injuries to Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny.
Magpies chief Howe has already spent more than £100m of the Saudi money so far this summer.
Of that, £60m was on record-buy Alexander Isak who has got his work permit sorted in time to face Liverpool.
Sven Botman, Matt Targett and Nick Pope also arrived to bolster the Newcastle defence.
It is reported Douglas Luiz of Aston Villa could be the ideal No6 Howe is looking for.
Like Tielemans, the Brazilian, 24, is into the final year of his deal but is also a target for Atletico Madrid. More

Chelsea PULL OUT of Wesley Fofana transfer deal and turn to other targets after Leicester reject third £70m-plus bid

CHELSEA have pulled the plug on their bid to sign Wesley Fofana after Leicester City threw out a THIRD bid worth £70million including add-ons.SunSport understands Thomas Tuchel, who was desperate to land the 21-year-old French sensation, will now turn his attention to alternative targets.

Frustrated Chelsea chiefs feel the Foxes have priced Fofana out of his dream move after digging in for a joint world record fee of £85million for their star defender.
Even the big spending Blues – bankrolled by ambitious new owner Todd Boehly – believe that’s way too rich for a 21-year-old.
He also missed half of last season with a leg break and has played fewer than 40 Premier League games.
Chelsea were prepared to offer £60million with a further £10million in add-ons.

However, Leicester felt the incentives were far from realistic and refused to budge.
It had been speculated that the Foxes were willing to offload Fofana, after Brendan Rodgers made him watch Saturday’s defeat at home to Southampton, from a seat in the main stand.
That seems to have sparked Chelsea’s latest take-it-or-leave-it final bid.
However, the Stamford Bridge negotiators were stunned to find the Foxes refused to budge and were in fact doubling-down on their original valuation.
Leicester have gained a reputation as battle-hardened negotiators in recent years.
They successfully held out and received a world record £85million for Harry Maguire when Manchester United buckled and met their price in 2019.

Newcastle United pulled their interest in James Maddison this summer when it became clear Leicester valued the midfielder at £65million.

It’s understood that’s partly down to Leicester looking for more than £50million despite the Belgian having less than a season left on his current deal.
However, Tielemans’ personal demands may also have scared off potential buyers as he is believed to be demanding around £200,000 a week in wages.
In the meantime, Brendan Rodgers will be left with another selection headache on Saturday when Leicester travel to Stamford Bridge.

Any hopes he had of Fofana being in the right frame of mind, fully-focussed on the job in hand, seem slim after this latest transfer twist and he looks likely to be left out again.
It also remains to be seen if Rodgers will turn to Tielemans, who started Saturday’s defeat on the bench. More
