European Super League plans slammed by fans across continent including Man Utd, Arsenal and rest of Prem Big six

FANS from across Europe have united to slam plans for a European Super League.
Supporters from 15 countries and those representing more than 30 clubs including all of the Prem’s Big Six condemned the proposals.

Spanish top-flight supremo Javier Tebas claimed Man Utd, Liverpool, Real Madrid and AC Milan plotted with Fifa President Gianni Infantino over a new leagueCredit: Reuters

SunSport revealed Spain LaLiga chief Javier Tebas accused Manchester United and Liverpool executives of plotting with Fifa President Gianni Infantino, Real Madrid boss Florentino Perez and AC Milan to “destroy” football with the closed-shop elite project.
And now the voice of the fans has been heard in a damning denunciation of the concept.
In a joint statement, the fans’ groups described the Super League project as “an unpopular, illegitimate and dangerous scheme”.

They added: “It would destroy the European model of sport, which is based on sporting merit, promotion and relegation, qualifying via domestic success and financial solidarity.
“It would also undermine the economic foundations of European football, concentrating even more wealth and power in the hands of a dozen or so elite clubs”.
The fans’ groups conceded they “recognised” football is “in desperate need of broad reform”.
However, they added: “Proposals to this end must seek to revive the competitive balance in European competitions, protect domestic leagues, promote the interests of fans and encourage fairer revenue distribution.

“A European Super League would achieve none of these object – quite the opposite.”
Sunsport reported on the plans that would see the Big Six taking shares of up to £310m each from a £3.5m “founder members” fund.
The plans envisage 15 clubs with permanent membership and five teams qualifying each year.
But the founder members would be guaranteed a minimum of £130m per year, with the possibility of boosting that to £213m.

The supporters’ groups warned: “A closed breakaway league allows big clubs to succeed off the pitch even if they fail on it.
“It is anti-competitive by design and snatches the dream of seeing your team play in Europe. It goes against the very spirit of the game.”
They also rail against the concept for its negative impact on domestic leagues, “exacerbating” the divide between clubs because “it would allow big clubs to monopolise profits”.

Arsenal set to miss out on Stoke sensation Nathan Collins, 19, as Burnley line up £10m transfer for defender

BURNLEY and Arsenal are battling it out for Stoke’s Nathan Collins — and Sean Dyche has a real chance.
Potters’ defender Collins, 19, is the Clarets’ top choice to replace James Tarkowski in a £10million deal.

Boss Dyche’s transfer team are focusing on the Irishman as they know Tarks will go at some stage.
Collins has moved ahead of Nottingham Forest’s Joe Worrall in that wish list with a string of impressive performances.
He is the type of signing the new American owners want for their long-term plans — and they could even bid BEFORE Tarkowski is sold.
But the Gunners also have their sights on young colossus Collins as a future star — and from the club where they found  legendary pair Lee Dixon and Steve Bould.

The bidding could even start this week ahead of a deadline deal. Potters will look for more than £10m but an offer in that range could seal the transfer.
Arsenal would have to find the cash while Burnley have funds available.
Crystal Palace are also keen as they have several defenders out of contract this summer.

The big defender is also rated  by Manchester United, where Collins’ old team-mate Darren Fletcher has pushed his cause. But they have yet to make a move.

Inter Milan set to sign 15-year-old Shamrock Rovers wonderkid Kevin Zefi after making history in League of Ireland

Zefi became the youngest goalscorer in the League of Ireland history in September.
His goal against Longford Town saw the youngster go down in the record books.
Zefi turns 16 in February and his family are expected to move to Milan with the promising youngster, according to the Independent.
Former Ireland and Tottenham right-back Stephen Carr is advising Zefi and his family.

And the youngster is said to have attracted interest from big clubs across Europe.
He was reportedly invited to train with Dutch side PSV Eindhoven in March but Covid meant the plans were scuppered.
Inter are expected to pay Shamrock a compensation fee that is yet to be agreed.
And Zefi is expected to join their Under-19s initially with the hope he progresses into Antonio Conte’s first team.

Zefi’s first senior appearance for Shamrock came in the latter part of the 2020 season when he lined up for their second team in the First Division.
His parents are Albanian but he was born in Ireland and was a key member of the Irish Under-15s last campaign.
He scored twice against England’s Under-15s in a 3-1 win for the Irish in December 2019.

Bernardo Silva’s model girlfriend Ines Tomaz calls him ‘the best of 2020’ after hooking up with Man City ace in lockdown

STUNNING model Ines Tomaz has laid bare her love for Manchester City star Bernardo Silva by calling him the best thing that happened to her in 2020.
The couple’s love blossomed during coronavirus lockdown which they spent with friends in a large house near Lisbon.

Pretty Ines, whose sister Mariana represented Portugal at Miss Global 2017, summed up her year with a summer photo of her chilling out with the midfielder which she captioned: “The best of 2020.”
And Bernardo immediately showed he agreed by posting a heart emoticon under her gushing comment.
Ines posted the snap days after the 26-year-old footballer wished fans ‘Merry Christmas’ with a snap showing him and his gorgeous girlfriend enjoying an intimate dinner in tracksuit bottoms and socks.
Ines looked happy and relaxed as she sipped red wine with a ‘Merry Christmas’ jumper on, appearing to confirm she has moved to Manchester virtually full-time and only makes brief returns to her native Portugal for work reasons.

Bernardo topped off his casual Christmas look by donning a Portugal shirt.
The Man City star confirmed he had found love again in May and was dating for the first time following his split with stunning French model Alicia Verrando.
He had fuelled speculation of a new romance after he revealed in April Ines was one of the group of three women and three other male pals he had been in lockdown with.
Ines went public with their relationship by posting footage on her Instagram of the footballer with his arms round her on a beach.

The playmaker responded with his own photo, showing them oozing happiness and looking tanned and relaxed at a dinner table.
Neither Bernardo or Ines gave away any details of when they began dating, although they are thought to have been seeing each for several months in secret.
They holidayed together in September in the paradise island of Formentera near Ibiza.
Reports around the time Silva is understood to have split with ex Alicia said he reluctantly ended their two-year relationship with her because it had ‘gone cold’ following her move to the UK.
Monte Carlo-born Alicia, who met Bernardo when she landed a job as an intern marketing assistant at his former club Monaco, flew to Russia to support Portugal at the last World Cup.
Soon after arriving she shared a video of fans wearing Portuguese shirts with her partner’s name on ahead of his team’s match against Uruguay.
But the last ‘happy couple’ photo they shared on social media was in May 2018 from the upmarket resort of Sesimbra near Lisbon.
Bernardo, who signed a five-year contact with Man City in May 2017 for £43m, posted pics online of him with his sister Maria at her wedding but none with Alicia.

Brighton set to beat Liverpool in transfer race for Evan Ferguson, 16, after playing for Bohemians against Chelsea at 14

BRIGHTON appear to have won the race for Irish whizkid Evan Ferguson.
The 16-year-old’s manager at Bohemians, Keith Long, confirmed a deal is in place for a summer switch to the Amex.

Long said: “He has a deal already done with Brighton. He’ll go in the summer. I don’t think there’s any secret there.”
Ferguson was handed his full senior debut in Monday’s 2-1 win over St Patrick’s Athletic.
The striker, who has been linked to Liverpool, caused a stir in 2019 when he made a sub appearance aged just 14 against Chelsea in a pre-season friendly.
Ferguson only needed 23 minutes to impress and almost bagged himself a stunning goal after dancing his way past Lucas Piazon and Kurt Zouma before angling an effort wide.

The St Kevin’s Boys product was then directly involved in the build-up to Eric Molloy’s last-minute equaliser as Keith Long’s men secured an unlikely draw.
Long said after the game: “Evan has got lots of attention from English clubs, he’s got lots of suitors.

“He’s coming through St Kevin’s Boys, he’s in with the Bohemians SKB Under-15s and is doing really well.
“He’s 14 and he comes off the bench and shows maturity beyond his years — and quality as well. He almost scored . . . and his clever little stepover for Eric in the build-up to the goal.

“He’s a big boy. He’s 14 and he looks like a man but he’s not, you can’t get sucked into that.
