Gareth Bale arrives at Real Madrid training ground to say goodbyes ‘as Tottenham look to announce transfer tomorrow’

GARETH BALE arrived at the Real Madrid training ground this morning to say his goodbyes with Tottenham reportedly hopeful of announcing the transfer tomorrow.
Bale, 31, was filmed heading into Los Blancos’ Valdebebas base at around 10.15am local time.

The Welsh winger pulled up in his grey Audi wearing a white tee and sunglasses in the Spanish capital

He swung in driving his 4×4 grey Audi wearing a white t-shirt and sunglasses with his top knot tied up.
Sky Sports News’ Ben Ransom was outside the gates to the training ground when Bale turned up.
He said: “We were not expecting to see Gareth Bale this morning.

“We saw him drive into the training ground with plenty of time to get in and get set up. We’re not sure how long he will be there.
“Yesterday he only came for 20 minutes before disappearing again.
“We are only a short drive away from Madrid Airport where a private jet is on standby should he get the green light to travel to London.”
Bale is set to complete a stunning return to White Hart Lane on a season-long loan.

According to Football.London, Spurs are hoping to get the deal over the line in time to announce the signing tomorrow.
It’s understood the fine print of the deal, such as image rights, are all that remains to be completed.

Full-back Sergio Reguilon is also expected to complete a switch to North London from the Bernabeu with both players completing most of their medicals in Spain.
The report adds that Spurs will pay 40 per cent of Bale’s £650,000-a-week wages with Real Madrid covering the remaining 60 per cent.
But Spurs fans are unlikely to see Bale back in their shirt for a month – even if he completes a stunning return to the club in the next 24 hours.
The earliest the brilliant winger is likely to be free to make his second debut for the North London side would be October 17 – a clash with bitter rivals West Ham – as a result of Covid-19 quarantine rules and another international break.

What Gareth Bale said about Jose Mourinho after taking over as Tottenham boss as Real Madrid star nears loan transfer

GARETH BALE described Jose Mourinho as a “serial winner” only months before joining him at Tottenham.
A loan deal taking the Welshman back to North London is progressing and expected to be sealed in the coming weeks.

It would finally unite the pair, who have had something of a long-distance romance over the years.
Mourinho tried to sign Bale for Real Madrid a year before the LaLiga giants paid Spurs a world record fee for his services, and again while Manchester United boss.
And the player stated last year that there was no “better partnership” than the Portuguese manager and his old club.

Bale said in December: “Having Mourinho there is an amazing statement from the club, I think he’s a serial winner.
“Tottenham want to win trophies and I don’t think there’s a better partnership than Mourinho and Tottenham together to try and win some trophies.”
Bale, 31, has reportedly completed a medical to return to North London.
The final details of the switch are still to be completed with Madrid said to be happy to pay half of his £650,000-a-week wages to get rid of the Welshman.

Los Blancos boss Zinedine Zidane is certainly desperate to sell the winger, who arrived for £85million in 2013.
But Mourinho, who left that summer to manage Chelsea for a second time, wanted Bale in Madrid during his three years in Spain.
The 57-year-old stated in 2013: “I asked the club to buy him last season but it was not possible.
“It looks like it is happening this season so I am happy for them because they get a fantastic player.
“But the numbers are huge numbers and the kid has to go now and there’s pressure to prove that he’s worth that investment.”
However, it has not always been plain sailing after Mourinho publicly disagreed with Bale in 2014.
The pair both gave their views on whether the Premier League or LaLiga was the superior division, with the Spurs boss backing English football.

He said: “[Bale said LaLiga is better] because he’s there.
“You have to accept what Gareth says, but I was also there.”
He added: “It’s not the best competition for sure, they can have the best team, but not the best competition.” More

Watch Lionel Messi score stunner with his RIGHT foot in Barcelona friendly after Man City’s failed transfer swoop

LIONEL MESSI showed Manchester City fans what they are missing as he scored a stunning strike from range in a friendly win against Girona.
The 33-year-old – who was controversially denied a Barcelona exit this summer – was back in the goals for the Blaugrana on Wednesday evening.

Messi scored either side of half-time in a 3-1 victory over neighbours Girona, with both of his goals coming from outside the box.
But it was his first goal that left fans talking as he curled home a beauty in off the post from 25 yards out with his weaker right foot.
One devastated City supporter tweeted: “Messi should be wearing a Man City jersey.”
Another commented: “He’s the only player ever who still makes me cry with the things hes does so unpredictable what a talent when you think he can’t get better than he already is he does this.”

A third added: “But some say idiots will still say that he can’t score from his right foot.”
    MES-MERISING
Meanwhile one simply stated: “How tf did Messi score that distance with his weak foot? Demon.”
Messi – who has topped Forbes’ list of the highest-paid footballers in 2020 – will see out the final year of his contract in Catalonia despite publicly expressing his desire to leave.
His failed transfer to City may have left fans disappointed, but star playmaker Kevin De Bruyne has insisted he isn’t bothered that he won’t be playing alongside him this campaign.

The PFA Player of the Year said: “I really don’t care. I really don’t. If he would have come it would have helped us because, for me, he has been the best player of all time.
“But I am never looking at what players may come and what may happen.

    3

“You play with the players you have and I think we have a pretty good team in that respect.
“It would be stupid of me to assume what would happen if a certain player came. It happens in football all the time.
“People are supposed to come and eventually they don’t. I was also pretty occupied at the time anyway.”

Sergio Reguilon at Tottenham training ground for medical ahead of £25m transfer from Real Madrid in blow to Man Utd

TOTTENHAM are closing in on the signing of Sergio Reguilon with the Real Madrid defender reportedly at the club’s training ground.
Spurs look to have beaten Manchester United in the race to prise the left-back away from the Bernabeu, having agreed a deal to bring him to North London.

Jose Mourinho’s side are said to have had a fee in the region of £25million accepted for the 23-year-old.

And, according to the Evening Standard, Reguilon is already at Hotspur Way having arrived at the complex on Wednesday.
They claim that he is set to have his medical on Thursday ahead of finalising his switch from Spain.

It has been suggested that the club could announce his signing on Thursday ahead of their Europa League second qualifying round clash against Bulgarian outfit Lokomotiv Plovdiv.
Spurs are understood to have accepted a number of clauses from Real in their deal to sign the ex-Sevilla loanee.
One of those is that the LaLiga champions have the option to buy him back for £36m within the next two years.
Another is that Real can match any fee that Spurs agrees with another club should they decide to sell him within that period.

Reguilon could be joined by his Madrid team-mate Gareth Bale at Spurs, with the Welsh winger on the brink of re-joining the club on loan.

Bale’s agent Jonathan Barnett has fuelled speculation of Bale’s arrival, as he admitted that a deal is ‘close’.
He told AFP: “It’s close but not done.
    “It’s a complicated deal.”

Jose Mourinho ‘warned by Madrid pals that Gareth Bale will struggle’ as Spurs boss holds talks with star over transfer

JOSE MOURINHO has held talks with Gareth Bale about a move to Tottenham but has reportedly been warned the Welshman may stuggle.
Spurs are leading the race to sign the winger on loan from Real Madrid.

Gareth Bale has held talks with Jose Mourinho about a return to Spurs

    2

But Mourinho has been warned the winger ‘may struggle’ by former Real Madrid colleagues

And a deal is nearing completion, amid rival interest from Manchester United.
Bale’s agent admitted there are still details to be ironed out but remained optimistic a move could be done.
He told Sky Sports News: “Gareth has spoken to Jose and explained how Spurs have a special place in his heart.

“There’s a long way to go on some issues, but without doubt Gareth is closer to leaving Madrid than at any time in last seven years.
“The deal is complicated, but there’s reason to believe a deal is close and things could move very quickly if discussions continue to go well.”
Mourinho refused to comment on the player during his press conference earlier today.
And his former colleagues at Real Madrid have warned him against signing the 31-year-old, according to ESPN.

The Spurs boss was reportedly told Bale would struggle to meet the demands of the Premier League.

And he was advised to proceed with caution given his injury problems in recent seasons.
But Mourinho reportedly believes he will see a resurgence in Bale if he moves back to Tottenham.
Bale is thought to be keen to return to North London having left in 2013 for £85million.
Last month, the 31-year-old opened the door to a Premier League return after Madrid pulled the plug on a move to China last year.
He stated: “If [Premier League] options arise it is something I’d look at for sure.
“We’ll see what happens, we have plenty of time in this transfer window and a couple of others as well.
And when asked if Bale is a player he admires, Mourinho said: “I tried to sign him for Real Madrid which was not possible to do during my time there.
“But the president followed my instinct and my knowledge and the season after I left he brought Gareth to the club.
“There is no secret on [my admiration of the player], I think even Gareth knows that.”
Mourinho is said to have told Bale he would play a vital role in his team this season.

Jose Mourinho hints at Gareth Bale transfer as Tottenham boss reveals he tried to sign Welshman while at Real Madrid

JOSE MOURINHO hinted Gareth Bale could be the missing piece of the puzzle at Tottenham – as he went all cryptic at the prospect of the Welshman’s return.
The Spurs boss refused to comment directly on his club’s bid to re-sign the Real Madrid superstar on a season-long loan.

    3

He said: “A squad is a puzzle and when a new signing completes the puzzle it’s a great feeling for the team.”
SunSport revealed yesterday that Tottenham are in talks to land Bale – who left for the Bernabeu in 2013 for a then-world record fee of £86million.
But when asked about his return, Mourinho said: “Gareth Bale is a Real Madrid player and I don’t comment on players from other clubs.”

The Spurs boss did reveal he tried to sign Bale when he was in charge of Real Madrid, adding: “It was not possible to do it in my time there and the season after I left they brought Bale to the club.”
Tottenham would pay around £20m to take their former star back on loan.
But they know they now have to move quickly as rivals Manchester United are attempting to seal a season-long loan for the former Southampton trainee – who can leave Real Madrid after being frozen out by their manager Zinedine Zidane.
Jonathan Barnett, the player’s agent, insists there are vital details still to be hammered out in talks between the three parties.

He told AFP: “It’s close but not done. It’s a complicated deal.”

Bale’s £650,000-a-week wage bill is thought to be a major negotiating topic in the loan deal.
Spurs, who are also in talks to sign Real left-back Sergio Reguilon, want Real Madrid to continue to pay a large chunk.
Bookies stopped taking bets on the transfer on Wednesday.
Having shortened the odds as low as 1/6, Ladbrokes announced at lunchtime that they had suspended the market.
But Spurs fans are unlikely to see Bale back in their shirt for a month – even if he completes a stunning return to the club in the next 48 hours.
The earliest the brilliant winger is likely to be free to make his second debut for the North London side would be October 17 – a clash with bitter rivals West Ham – as a result of Covid-19 quarantine rules and another international break.
Tottenham welcome back Giovani Lo Celso for tomorrow’s Europa League qualifier at Lokomotiv Plovdiv in Bulgaria.
But Japhet Tanganga remains sidelined with injury and fellow defender Serge Aurier is a doubt after picking up a knock in training.

“There have been other instances where we have tried to go but the club won’t allow it or they’ve done something. It’s down to the club.

Arsenal looking to follow up Aubameyang contract with double transfer swoop for Thomas Partey and Houssem Aouar

ARSENAL are set to spend big again this summer with moves for Thomas Partey and Houssem Aouar in the offing.
The Gunners yesterday confirmed star striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has signed a bumper new three-year contract.

    3

Arsenal want to sign Atletico midfielder Thomas Partey

    3

Lyon’s Houssem Aouar is also on the Gunners’ radar

And the North Londoners plan to keep splashing the cash in order to build a star-studded team around him.
Atletico midfielder Partey, 27, has been linked with an Emirates switch for months.
The Ghanaian ace is keen on the move and with Arsenal still interested, the Gunners could soon meet Atletico’s £50million asking price, according to the Mirror.
Lyon’s French ace Aouar is slightly behind Partey in the priority list although Mikel Arteta is still keen.
So Arsenal would have to offload some players to raise cash if they want to land the £40m rated 22-year-old as well.
Backup goalkeeper Emi Martinez has signed for Aston Villa in a £20m deal.
And the Gunners are looking to get even more fringe players off their books to fund any deals before the October 5 deadline.

Sokratis, Lucas Torreira, Shkodran Mustafi, Calum Chambers and Sead Kolasinac are all up for sale.

    3

Arsenal would have been locked in a relegation battle without Aubameyang in 2019-20

The North Londoners are also willing to listen to offers for Matteo Guendouzi.
SunSport understands Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Rob Holding were two considered up-for-grabs – with Wolves and West Ham interested respectively.
But Arteta has had a change-of-heart over the pair, and wants to keep them after impressing in pre-season.
The decision to splash out on the chunky deals for Aubameyang and Willian’s recent £220k-a-week move has attracted criticism after last month’s decision to make 55 staff members redundant, despite a coronavirus pandemic squad wage cut.
