Jack Wilshere reveals LaLiga transfer could be on cards and insists ‘I’m not too young for MLS’ after West Ham axe

JACK WILSHERE fancies a move to LaLiga and says he’s ‘not too young for the MLS’.
The former Arsenal midfielder is on the hunt for a new club after he ‘had to get out’ of West Ham.

Wilshere, 28, and the Hammers mutually agreed to cancel his London Stadium contract earlier this month.
It was believed to be worth around £100,000-a-week.
Injuries limited the ex-England international to just 19 appearances for West Ham.

However, he claimed he was fit and ready for selection for the last nine months of his time at the Irons – suggesting he was simply not picked by David Moyes.
Wilshere has no hard feelings towards his boyhood club now he has left and thinks the Spanish game would suit his style.
He told Sky Sports: “I’ve been speaking to my agent every couple of days.
“There’s been a few things that have come up and we’re still talking about it, but I’m not going to put a time on it because I want to make sure it’s right.

“LaLiga, Italy or Germany would be a nice change for me. Not many English players have done it.

“I always watch LaLiga, it was always something I thought about. I like the league, I think it’s more technical than the English game.
“I think it’s somewhere I could really show what I can do.”
Wilshere has also been linked with a move stateside to the MLS.
And he has been keeping himself fit with personal training sessions in a park.
He added: “I don’t think I’m too young for the MLS. It’s on Sky Sports, I think there’s been a big improvement in that league.
“If the right opportunity came up I’d be open to it.”
Wilshere had been at the London Stadium since 2018 when he moved on a free after his Arsenal contract expired.

He featured in just one game for the East London side this campaign – the 5-1 win against Hull in the Carabao Cup on September 22.
And despite the disappointing way his West Ham career turned out, most fans wished him well on his departure and Wilshere is glad he’s moved on.
He explained: “I was probably getting to that point, if I had stayed another year, where it would have been really tough mentally to come back from.
“I never had a fall out with him [Moyes]. I’ve got a lot of friends at West Ham and it was nothing personal against them.
“I still speak to a lot of the players, but I just had to get out. I couldn’t spend another year not playing, especially at my age.
“I just want to play games – I want to get back to playing 25-30 games a season, when you can really get your confidence back and a smile on your face.
“Just playing football, what I used to do when I was a little bit younger. I still feel like I can do it and I want to prove everyone wrong.”

Alexander Hleb reveals he broke down in tears after leaving Arsenal and talking to Wenger and regrets Barcelona transfer

EX-ARSENAL star Alexander Hleb cried when he spoke to Arsene Wenger before leaving for Barcelona.
The Belarusian midfielder also regrets his 2008 Nou Camp switch and ‘doesn’t understand’ why he left.

Hleb was a huge favourite with Gooners during his three year stay from 2005-08.
He joined Arsenal from Stuttgart in 2005, played 130 times for the club and reached the Champions League final in 2006.
He would go on to win the Champions League, LaLiga and the Copa del Rey in his first season with Barcelona, but the 39-year-old still questions his decision to leave North London.

He told Arsenal’s In Lockdown podcast: “Many years later and I still think about it.
“I don’t understand. To this day I still don’t understand what happened or why I made the decision.
“Of course, Barcelona in that moment was the best team in the world but I was really happy at Arsenal at the time.
“I had friends, I enjoyed the coach, I was playing for one of the best teams, the fans, the stadium, everything.

“The fantastic championship, the Premier League, everything. Why I left, I don’t understand.

“Barca, of course, were the best team at the time and everybody wants something to try but really I was 100 per cent happy at Arsenal.
“I cried when I talked to Arsene [Wenger]. We talked in the holiday before I left and he told me he wanted to keep me and I was important.
“I cried. I didn’t know what to do in that moment.”
    PRIVATE LIFE PROBLEMS
While Hleb would win the treble with Barcelona in that first year, he hardly played and would then depart on various loans before eventually leaving permanently in 2012.
He went on: “Of course, Barca is a fantastic team. I won titles and everything but I didn’t play as much as I did at Arsenal.
“This is only my mistake because at the time, a lot of things happened in my private life. I started very nervously [at Barcelona].
“Before I was always aggressive. It was only my mistake.
“This is not a situation where Guardiola didn’t trust me or something like that. No, this is only my mistake.
“At Arsenal I was happy, you know? When you’re happy in the team, you need to stay.
“Of course [I still think about my career]. When you’re young you think you have so many years but it’s really like one moment.
“It’s really quick. My children now ask me about [my career] and you explain your emotions and it’s nice, it’s very nice.”
In March, Hleb revealed his time at Arsenal was the happiest of his career and Wenger had the biggest impact on him of any manager.

Manchester United and Liverpool are in talks with Fifa about forming a European Premier League made up of 18 teams.
Five Premier League teams would likely join the breakaway league, which would usurp the Champions League.
As Bartomeu said his goodbyes to Barcelona, he revealed the Spanish side have agreed to take part in the league.
The 57-year-old said: “I can announce some extraordinary news.

“Yesterday we accepted a proposal to participate in a future European Super League, which would guarantee the future financial sustainability of the club.
“And we have accepted the future Club World Cup format.”
It was allegedly one of the final decisions he made while working as the club president.
The new £4.6billion league plans to include teams from England, France, Germany, Italy and Spain.

But the project is still said to have a ‘long way to go’ and Uefa opposes the idea.
Bartomeu will have no further on Barcelona’s decisions after he announced his decision to step down.
The whole of his board are also set to follow him out of the door.

Ronaldo would have been given the OK to play if his latest test returned a negative result.
But the 35-year-old’s third Covid-19 test came back positive on Tuesday night – just 24 hours before the match.
He will now be hope to make his return in the Serie A game against Spezia on November 1.
Ronaldo first contracted the virus while on international duty in October.

The Juve star immediately left Portugal’s training camp and flew to Turin in a private air ambulance.
And he recorded his second positive result last Thursday – nine days after his first diagnosis.
He is currently self isolating in his Turin home and has reportedly displayed no symptoms.
Ronaldo has been sleeping separately from partner Georgina Rodriguez and his four children – who all returned negative tests.

Barcelona president Bartomeu resigns before vote of no confidence after damaging Lionel Messi saga

BARCELONA president Josep Maria Bartomeu has offered his resignation, the club has confirmed.
Bartomeu is understood to have handed in his notice on Tuesday afternoon before a vote of no confidence expected to boot him out.

A statement on the club’s Twitter feed read: “President Josep Maria Bartomeu announces the resignation of the Barcelona board of directors.”
Sport in Spain say the board of directors – also at risk of being voted out – followed him through the Nou Camp exit door following an urgent meeting just three days after Barcelona lost 3-1 at home to Real Madrid.
The Spaniard, 57, was particularly damaged by his handling of the Lionel Messi saga this summer.
After various disputes between the club and its players, Messi handed in a transfer request.

Negotiations between Messi’s dad and Bartomeu failed to resolve the differences with the six-time Ballon d’Or winnerready to quit his boyhood club after 20 years.
Messi then made a sensational U-turn to see out the final year of his contract.
Supporters gathered at the stadium to protest and demanded Bartomeu’s head – now they look to have their wish.
Fans – who hold ownership in the club – then came together and got the required number of signatures to initiate a no-confidence motion.

And Bartomeu – who was also accused of corruption in September – walked before officially being thrown out.
It comes just a day after he defended his handling of the messy Messi situation.
Bartomeu said: “I was accused of wanting to force a transfer for financial reasons to ‘balance the books.
“That’s not true. I defended the interests of the club, accepting the consequences that refusing Messi’s decision to go to one of our rivals would entail.
“I understand he may be angry about not leaving. I tried to explain to him and his family that we could not let him go. He’s the key to Ronald Koeman’s project.
“I hope in the future he says he’s happy, that he wants to renew his contract with the club and that he ends his career here.”
Now the future of the Argentine will be up for debate again as the new Barcelona chief will surely make convincing Messi sign a new deal his top priority.

Sergio Ramos ‘clashes with Isco and Marcelo in Real Madrid dressing room over poor performances’ after Barcelona win

SERGIO RAMOS reportedly blasted Isco and Marcelo for under-par performances this season in the wake of El Clasico.
Real Madrid stormed to a 3-1 win over fierce rivals Barcelona on Saturday to end a run of poor results.

Los Blancos had lost their previous LaLiga match 1-0 at home to minnows Cadiz.
And that was followed up by another Bernabeu defeat in midweek, this time a 3-2 Champions League group stage loss to Shakhtar Donetsk.
Ramos, 34, was on the score sheet at the Nou Camp on Saturday as his 63rd minute penalty put Real 2-1 up after goals from Federico Valverde and Ansu Fati.
Luka Modric sealed the result with a 90th-minute strike.

But after the final whistle, Ramos apparently held nothing back in the changing room as he targeted unused subs Isco, 28, and Marcelo, 32.
Diario Sport claims Ramos blasted the pair for their underwhelming performances so far this term.
And the incident occurred after Isco had been caught on camera blasting boss Zinedine Zidane’s substitutions.
The playmaker was seen telling Marcelo and Modric: “If he (Zidane) has to bring me off, he subs me in minute 50 or 60 of the game, sometimes at half-time.

“If he has to put me on, he puts me on in the 80th minute.”
In four appearances this season, Isco has started twice and not played more than 57 minutes.
And recent training pictures suggest he might not be playing much due to looking out of shape.

Zinedine Zidane vows to fight for Real Madrid ‘until the last day’ as boss battles to keep job amid squad unrest

ZINEDINE ZIDANE has vowed to ‘fight until the last day’ as he battles to keep his Real Madrid job.
The Frenchman was under temporary pressure after back-to-back defeats and is also dealing with unrest in his squad.

Real lost 1-0 at home to Cadiz on October 17 before a 3-2 Champions League defeat away at Shakhtar Donetsk.
But having embarrassed Lionel Messi and Co in Saturday’s 3-1 El Clasico win, the pressure has lifted somewhat.
But asked whether he was concerned about his future ahead of tonight’s Champions League trip to Bosussia Monchengladbach, Zidane was bullish in his response.

He said: “I think about tomorrow’s game, not whether I thought about resigning or not.
“I will fight until the last day. The rest… we’ll see ”
After El Clasico, footage emerged of midfielder Isco criticising the time of Zidane’s substitutions.
The Spaniard was an unused sub in the Nou Camp and recently lashed out at Zidane not not playing him enough.

The report suggests Isco – seen wearing a face mask – said to Real Madrid team-mates Marcelo and Luka Modric: “If he has to bring me off, he substitutes me in minute 50 or 60 of the game, sometimes at half-time.

“If he has to put me on, he puts me on in the 80th minute.”
Isco seems to find himself in a similar position to Gareth Bale under the 48-year-old but Zidane quickly brushed away suggestions of unrest.
He said: “He is ambitious and he wants to play.
“Everybody wants it but it’s my responsibility that they play or not.
“They must be ready when it is their turn to play.”
After El Clasico, Barcelona boss Ronald Koeman criticised the decision that saw Clement Lenglet concede a controversial penalty, which Sergio Ramos won and scored at a key time in the game.
But Zidane was unfazed by his rival gaffer’s comments.
He said: “It doesn’t bother me that they talk, that’s the way it is. We are left with what we did there – fight, stay focused, work.
“We are happy with what we did last weekend against Barcelona, as a team. We just look at our work.
“It is the game we needed to play. We have to play how we did in Barcelona and try to play a good game.”
